0:00 remember when we showed off the gpd win
0:03 a super tiny but full-fledged Windows
0:06 computer well guess what there's a sequel and it's in a black and
0:12 gold box and it comes out like this look people like unboxings right
0:18 look at this thing it's bigger faster and better in every
0:22 possible way let's check it out
0:39 all right so now that our Windows update is done let's take a closer look at this
0:42 guy we've got some kind of rubberized grips on the side here and here so that
0:48 you don't lose your grip we've got a cooling fan um got kind of a black and gray
0:53 aesthetic and then we can just i guess open it up and get started
0:57 so right out of the box like spec wise this thing is really impressive the
1:02 display is a six inch gorilla glass topped hips 10 point multi-touch display
1:07 so it's 1280 by 720 which is not amazing
1:11 today but is good enough for a device this size
1:15 the processor is a core m3 7y30
1:20 so what's cool about that is that that is not atom based that's a 15 watt kb
1:26 lake that runs one gigahertz base 2.6
1:29 gigahertz boost it's got two cores and it's hyper threaded it's running Intel
1:34 hd graphics 615 so not the most capable
1:38 we'll look at it a little closer later eight gigs of lpddr3 RAM it's got you
1:42 can actually see it here on the bottom support for up to a 42 millimeter m.2
1:48 though it should be noted it runs hci not NVMe it's got dual band ac wi-fi so
1:53 i'd like to see how it handles something like steam and home streaming and packed
1:58 into this you can see it's quite thick it's got two
2:01 4 900 milliamp hour batteries for up to
2:05 six to eight hours of battery life
2:09 i'm really impressed with the io2 just like i was last time around so here come
2:13 come have a look at this so you've got your usb type-c that handles charging
2:18 duties and from our testing also handles
2:21 outputting to like a usbc dongle so you could adapt it to HDMI or an sd slot or
2:26 whatever else you want it's got a headphone jack
2:32 it's got a usb 3 type a port it's got a microsd slot and it's also got a micro
2:38 HDMI output so if you wanted to hook it up to a monitor or something then you
2:42 could totally do that right now being totally honest the
2:46 speakers aren't great but apparently this is
2:50 mostly a driver issue that they're already aware of this is a pre-production sample and i'm more
2:55 concerned in the longer term with the inputs the keyboard
2:59 right off the bat way improved over the
3:02 last generation it doesn't have a ton of flex to it and the tactile click of the
3:08 keys like actually feels pretty good like it's not
3:12 like i type on it all day or anything but
3:15 way better than i expected and just like last time this little switch right here
3:19 super handy so you change the joysticks from gamepad mode over to mouse mode and
3:25 all of a sudden boom there you go you're moving your mouse cursor around it's not
3:29 you know a nipple and it's not a track pad but with a little bit of practice
3:33 you could definitely get really good with this thing
3:37 joystick quality now that was really impressive apparently these are sourced
3:41 from the japanese company alps which i totally believe because they
3:46 feel really good like like like almost ds grade good and as for the shoulder
3:51 buttons hear that these are nice clicky buttons
3:55 on our two r1 and r3 now it should be
3:59 noted that these were a little hard to distinguish
4:02 especially at first from each other while gaming but i do think it's
4:06 something that you might get used to uh something that would take a little longer to get used to is the weight this
4:10 thing is a touch heavy it's about 460 grams and making matters worse the
4:16 screen tilt is like just a little bit too far this way
4:20 then all the way this way so i can't quite find myself in that perfect
4:24 comfortable in between it'll kind of snap out like that but uh
4:28 okay enough talk about hypotheticals let's uh let's fire up some games
4:33 one thing that's really nice right out of the gate on a device like
4:36 this with steam in-home streaming is if you have to make any configuration
4:40 changes or if you run into any issues with it in general which
4:43 let's face it they're a thing it's a lot easier to fix them and make
4:48 any adjustments on a full-fledged computer than with
4:52 you know something like a shield portable which as you guys probably know
4:55 i'm a big fan of this is basically what it looks like running a game elsewhere
5:00 on the network over wi-fi so check this
5:03 out see those tips right there controller disconnected spacebar okay
5:08 boom we're in pc mode hold it to drain urics for health
5:12 switch to gamepad mode and
5:16 boom it's working again already and all the prompts will change again so that we
5:21 won't make any mistakes in terms of our control scheme check that out b to drop
5:25 so the idea here is that over your home network using steam or even over the
5:30 internet assuming your connection is good enough using a service like parsec
5:33 if you have a powerful enough machine somewhere you can play full quality
5:37 games even though the GPU on this thing
5:40 really is not nearly powerful enough to run games like
5:44 shadow of war so how bad you might ask running things
5:49 natively well integrated graphics are still what
5:53 they are so here i've got a steam library running
5:57 off of this external one terabyte drive so i've got a bunch of different games
6:01 installed and you're gonna see here that even in a fairly uh indie game not super
6:07 demanding like gang beasts we're seeing occasional stutters and this is running
6:11 at 720p actually not even apparently we're
6:15 running with pillar boxes for some reason like to be clear it's not fair to expect
6:20 deus ex mankind divided to run well uh you know even
6:25 even at 720p hold on i got this guy i got this guy uh
6:30 on all low settings but as long as you're just looking at
6:34 kind of older games and you don't expect to be getting a smooth 60 or a 120
6:39 frames per second not that would matter it's a 60hz display
6:44 it's not the worst thing ever though i'd personally definitely prefer to stream
6:48 off something else if i'm running something demanding
6:51 emulation on the other hand is the win 2's wheelhouse so check this out this is
6:57 star fox assault running on a gamecube emulator without any problems 60 FPS at
7:03 the original resolution so that's at 480. less demanding titles can actually
7:08 run enhanced at gpd's native 720p
7:12 resolution and it goes pretty much without saying that it works really well
7:16 for snes n64 psx via retroarch but we were
7:21 actually pretty surprised to see that it works reasonably well with playstation 2
7:26 games even at original resolution again though now
7:30 we did see more than the occasional slowdown in grand theft auto for example
7:35 but again in less demanding games this shouldn't be as much of a problem and
7:39 input lag overall was basically negligible
7:43 okay so what you're probably wondering at this point sorry can i actually take that from you enough grand theft auto at
7:48 work what you're probably wondering at this point is how much does one of these
7:51 cost well like its predecessor the win 2 is pretty pricey so it's 600 while it's
7:57 running on its uh i don't remember which crowdfunding campaign site it is but
8:02 while it's running its crowdfunding campaign and then 700 after that
8:07 but it's got a lot of versatility and the fact that there is a second one means
8:11 that there's clearly a market for these devices out there because the first one
8:15 wasn't exactly cheap either
8:19 speaking of things that there's definitely a market for
8:23 tunnelbear is the simple vpn for folks
