today we have something pretty interesting to unbox I got cameraman
0:03
helping me today we have the pro art series LCD monitor PA
0:08
246 from ASUS now what makes this unique
0:13
with quite frankly any number of monitors on the
0:17
market that are 24 in okay they have a
0:21
black bezel you know height adjustment potentially uh you know built-in USB hob
0:26
built-in card reader uh it does support picture and picture which is kind of
0:30
neat but what separates this from every
0:34
other monitor on the market with a black bezel and a 24in
0:38
diagonal screen well we're going to get into that a little bit cuz yeah I what I
0:43
realized about monitor unboxings is that they take a really long time cuz
0:46
monitors are big and I'm like weak and from the internet so and yes I stole
0:52
that from Crazy Russian he says it all the time that he's from the internet and
0:55
I'm like okay um so yeah what I realized
0:59
is that LCD unboxings take a long time cuz they're big and bulky and kind of
1:03
ungainly to deal with and I always tell you guys everything about the monitor
1:08
before I actually open the box so I'm not going to make that mistake today I'm
1:13
going to unbox the product and then when
1:16
I can show you the product itself I'm going to tell you all about it so here
1:19
we have the accessories under the bottom layer styrofoam we get lots of different
1:24
accessories this is terrific we got a cable tie oh two cable ties no it's one
1:29
never mind mind it's just one I was I was getting pretty excited there for a second next we get uh support
1:35
CD and a VIP member notice it's a
1:39
notice okay all right I
1:43
noticed I noticed it quick start guide excellent plug the thing into the thing
1:47
hit the power button probably something along those lines ooh check this out
1:52
okay so I didn't I didn't get to save this for when the uh the monitor
1:56
actually was was unboxed but check this out so this is a color calibration
2:01
testing report this report was run on
2:05
your serial number this is not batch
2:08
color calibration that is why this monitor is expensive this is an outof
2:13
thee boox calibrated LCD monitor that is
2:17
why it is called a pro art so I'm going to finish showing you guys the yeah yeah
2:21
there's that don't put this bag over your own face or your baby's face or
2:25
your face is done okay so we'll get into more of the
2:30
features that are professional oriented later ah thank you cameraman here are
2:34
the cables that are included we have one DisplayPort cable so I'm going to go ahead and jump out on a limb here and
2:38
assume the monitor supports DisplayPort we've got VGA cable don't use that
2:42
crying out loud please don't buy a $500 Monitor and then use that and we have a
2:46
DVI cable we also have a power cable pretty standard as well as a USB A2B
2:52
cable or printer USB cable for the built-in Hub so I'm going to go ahead
2:57
and hold on to these accessories and let's deathless monitor opened up there
3:01
is by all appearances no real assembly
3:05
required to speak of I'm going to go ahead and take off the plastic here uh
3:09
we've got our height adjustable stem it's pretty sweet oo I like the uh I
3:14
already like the the base on the uh mounting ARM feels very very very smooth
3:20
when you're adjusting things compared to uh some of the less expensive ones that
3:24
I've seen okay so why don't we go through all the range of motion that we
3:27
can do with the ASUS uh PA 246 so we can
3:31
go up and down so here's the very bottom you can see that the monitor is actually
3:36
almost resting right on the base we can go up this High all right tilt we can go
3:43
way up here we can go way down there
3:46
okay I mean very few people sit and look up at their monitor so that's you know
3:50
doesn't need to go too far down it's better if you look at this from this side I think okay uh pivot look at that
3:56
it can pivot all the way to that side and all all the way to that side so
4:01
that's like uh that that's that's pretty good seems to me okay uh you can
4:07
also do this actually I believe this is
4:10
called uh oh yeah no this is swivel that's right so it can swivel it can go
4:14
into portrait mode can't quite go upside down okay go ahead and do that uh let's
4:20
have a look at the physical characteristics of it it's quite thick
4:23
this is not a thin monitor it's not like a a dainty monitor this is meant for
4:28
professional use so it's going to be built up as much Hardware as they deem
4:32
necessary to put inside it they're just going to do it they're not going to try and make it thinner so it's going to
4:36
have lots of uh ventilation holes all along the top here actually only about
4:41
half of these are ventilation holes same thing here on the back um right here
4:46
this is kind of funny to me but almost everything on this monitor has um
4:52
centimeter and centimeter and a half markings on it oh no it looks like it's
4:56
inches on the uh on the oh no okay there's in and centimet there that's
5:00
kind of neat but so yeah you can see that's marked you can see down here is
5:04
also marked and then there's an indicator at the front so it actually
5:08
shows you okay you're you're that far off now and then there's a little dot to
5:11
indicate okay you're at the maximum so there's halfway and then Max and then
5:15
same thing here at the back for the height adjust everything is
5:20
marked it's kind of neat okay let's go ahead and have a look at our inputs so
5:25
I'm going to go ahead and tilt it back check out the bottom here
5:30
um I'm not sure if we're going to have enough light from that angle I'm going to actually tilt it this way and then
5:33
you can have a look from that side Okay so we've got our USB in that appears to
5:38
be audio we have VGA DVI oh yeah okay
5:42
there's the 7 in1 card reader as well as the two USB ports on the side okay we've
5:46
got HDMI in DisplayPort in so we have pretty much every option we could
5:50
possibly need as far as inputs go we've got our power as well as a power switch
5:55
there's a warranty void if seal damaged thing on the bottom here so that's a
5:59
make sure you don't do that all right um
6:03
let's go around to the I don't know what
6:07
he's on about sound I already said that
6:11
yeah yeah has speakers right maybe it doesn't okay hold on we'll be
6:15
back yeah okay so those are just for the HDMI and DisplayPort inputs so that you
6:20
can actually plug headphones into the headphone jack on the bottom of the
6:24
Monitor and you can hear sound that way so cameraman is now showing you some of
6:28
the features that I promised to talk about once we got the monitor out of the
6:32
box and that is that this uses an IPS panel so IPS is out of the three main
6:38
LCD uh panel technologies that is TN VA
6:43
which would be PVA MVA or IPS this is
6:46
the highest end one in terms of color accuracy as well as uh professional use
6:52
so that's why it is the pro art something else that I wanted to point out to you guys this is a 1920x 1200
6:58
monitor it uses a proper PC 16x 10
7:01
aspect ratio instead of the more theater and movie oriented 16 to9 that gives you
7:07
that extra little bit of vertical that gives you more space to work when you
7:11
are using a PC desktop as opposed to watching a movie I mean for gaming 1080p
7:17
is great but for professional work I really do prefer to have that extra
7:20
little bit of vertical okay we've also got they advertise here okay it uses
7:24
Adobe RGB we've got the color accuracy is down to a Delta e of less than five
7:28
which I'm to understand is quite impressive uh that basically means that
7:32
the color is very accurate six axis color adjustment supports picture and
7:36
picture the ergonom Mi stand we've definitely looked at already as well as
7:39
the USB hub and 7 in-one card reader now
7:42
here's something that I thought was pretty darn cool so you can see all up
7:46
the right side of the monitor there are little marks as well as all along the
7:49
top those are all in inches so you've got inch half inch and/ qu in marks and
7:55
then all along the left side and all along the bottom of the mark uh the
7:59
bottom of the monitor is a metric so that's in centimet and half CM
8:03
increments so I I thought that was hilarious uh I don't know why but I
8:08
thought it was uh on screen menu we don't normally show this on Tech tips
8:11
but since we have the monitor plugged in anyway we might as well so you got a few different modes here got some color
8:16
settings got some image settings got some picture and picture settings you
8:20
can select your input which is much easier to do with the input button as
8:23
well as system setup uh there is a quick fit button which it requests that I try
8:29
so why try it whoa look at that
8:32
sweet that's actually really cool so it puts an overlay right over top of the
8:37
screen in centimet or in inches and I'm going to go ahead and
8:42
assume oh look at look at this oh that's
8:46
cool so you can quickly find out how big the thing
8:51
you're working with is just by using this button so there's your 8x10 there's
8:55
your 5x7 huh
9:00
that's cool hey and yeah okay it doesn't
9:03
actually line up with the ones on the side of the monitor so these seem to be mostly for show but this this is a cool
9:10
feature okay well I think that's pretty much it thank you for checking out my
9:14
unboxing of the pro art pa46 Q from Muse
9:17
don't forget to subscribe to lus Tech tips for more unboxings reviews and
9:21
other videos and actually before we finish up right here I got to tell you guys the color in the image looks about
9:27
right up until about this angle for me so Cera man can come over here where I
9:30
am right about there so the viewing angle is phenomenal actually really
9:35
impressed with that you come to expect that from an IPS panel also it's not a
9:39
matte screen so there are no there are no um or rather it is a matte screen
9:43
there's it's not a glossy screen so there's no um use a really shiny screen
9:48
to make the the contrast and the colors look more vibrant tricks going on here
9:52
it's all just the quality of the panel the quality of the backl and it is using
9:57
a matte screen which is preferable for color accuracy
