0:00 today we're going to be doing a very very cool unboxing this is the Samsung
0:06 SyncMaster md23 X3 they should just call
0:10 it like the Goliath or something because
0:13 that would be a lot easier to remember and it would also be a lot more
0:16 descriptive I mean look at the size of the Box this is a monitor it's so heavy
0:21 the only way to get it here into this room was to take it on that cart and the
0:27 only way to get it up on the table is by humiliating Myself by trying to lift
0:32 something that's clearly way too heavy for me okay there
0:38 we go so what this is is it is three
0:43 monitors in one I'm going to let that sink in for a
0:47 minute while I try to figure out how to
0:51 get this out of the box look at this it
0:55 actually has clamps on the box like like you know like don't make
1:01 me give you the clamps like those kinds of clamps no it's not that kind of clamps
1:07 but I have two more on the other side here so I'm just removing those because
1:10 there's actually and I could tell this when I lifted it up there's actually a a
1:15 box that slides over top okay so that is
1:20 all packed with foam and uh there's some
1:24 kind of documentation here which we'll probably need all right
1:30 so this is going this is going to be a long unboxing just brace yourselves guys
1:33 because uh it's a bit of an adventure I've never unboxed three monitors in one
1:39 box before so it's a challenge but I
1:43 like an unboxing challenge I've also never encountered
1:47 clamps on a box before so here we are
1:51 what's this we got limited warranty which is three years Parts 3 years labor
1:56 you can either carry it in or ship it in they will not pick it up from you which
2:00 is pretty much standard we have an assembly guide and it's like wow it's
2:05 actually pretty hardcore oh no it's okay because it has like 16 different
2:09 languages so the English is the first line but let's actually see how how many
2:14 steps there are so there's at least five s nine oh no okay so this is only if uh
2:21 if it's 2x3 oh 2x3 okay hold on so we have 1x3
2:25 here we are so 1x3 pivot so that oh no
2:28 we're not doing that either oh Okay cool so you can put it that is the way I
2:32 would use it that's legit um but you can also do 1x3 non pivot so there's 11
2:39 steps involved in that one so you can put it together a few different ways all
2:42 right last but not least we have a uh warranty statement thing again okay
2:48 and then we have a disc which has their Magic Eye software magic oh Magic bright
2:53 magic tune and that is all we really
2:56 need to know about that okay so let's put that out of the way and then let's
2:59 keep going with the unboxing so here's a
3:02 box pretty substantial got some uh got
3:06 some heavy stuff in there so pull out the knife again break some more seals
3:10 cuz that's what I do oh I missed
3:13 nice wow so you know most monitors yeah
3:17 they got you know they got included cable right got included power cord this
3:23 one comes with one two three standard
3:27 computer power cables all right it comes
3:32 with one two computer power cable
3:37 extension cords it comes
3:41 with I'll figure those out later it comes with at least one DisplayPort
3:46 cable it comes okay it comes with one DisplayPort cable
3:52 two single link DVI so that is standard
3:56 DVI cables uh one USB
4:01 cable another USB cable so that is two USB
4:06 cables
4:11 uh a what appears to be
4:16 remote all right so this is a remote for
4:19 controlling uh something about the monitors I saw this mentioned on the
4:23 Samsung site but I'm definitely going to have to show you guys how this works uh
4:26 outside of the unboxing but it looks like there's no onscreen display display
4:30 cuz you've got things like brightness and contrast controls right here on this
4:34 little remote it connects via USB so I'm not really sure where it plugs into but
4:37 we'll figure that out later okay and then we've got uh these look like they
4:44 almost look like
4:48 magnets I don't know if I have anything metal to try this on no they're not
4:54 magnets okay well we'll figure out what they are later then all right but we
4:58 have a few of them we have 1 2 3 4 5 six
5:02 six of them okay that's cool I'm
5:05 down then we have uh whatever these are
5:09 these look like some kind of a bracket don't do that with them evidently don't
5:14 know what that is so these are these are brackets that oh yeah there we go so
5:18 they go like this all right how many of those do we
5:21 have we have one two three four we have
5:25 four of those okay and then we have lots of screws so
5:31 these are the a screws and we have B
5:35 screws all right that is the hardware oh no last but not least we oh we have some
5:39 cable management stuff which is great because we have a lot of cables all
5:43 right so that's that's the accessories you know what we'll actually just kind
5:47 of we'll throw all this back in here to
5:51 keep it out of the way while we have a look at the monitor
5:56 itself okay next we have LCD panels
6:01 Galore so we have three panels first one
6:05 is here so let's go ahead and uh from the
6:11 pictures I've seen of these they actually look more like like a
6:14 professional LCD panel than like a monitor like based on the like look at
6:19 look at the industrial design on the back like these are just like hardcore
6:24 so you've got what appears to be uh Visa
6:28 compatible that looks like what is it 100 by 100 uh on the back might be 75x
6:33 75 can't tell and then you've got four additional mounting holes here you've
6:38 also got like sort of like random screws
6:41 and stuff you've got a lot more uh labeled screw holes all over the back of
6:46 the monitor all right also on the back of the monitor we have some ventilation
6:51 holes here at the top that's where all the electronics are inside and then at
6:55 the bottom we will find all of our input options so here's one of the here
7:00 actually I don't want to put this down directly on the table so I'm just going
7:04 to pick that back up
7:07 okay wow so here are the interfaces at
7:11 the bottom of the monitor so we have VGA please don't use that please please do
7:15 not buy a $2,000 monitor setup and plug it in Via VGA please okay then we have
7:21 DVI DisplayPort so either of these are going to be perfectly legitimate options
7:26 and so the reason they've included two DVI cables and one DisplayPort C cable
7:29 is because as you may or may not have guessed by now this is really intended
7:33 for use with AMD's ifinity technology so
7:36 that means you can plug in two of the monitors via DVI and the third one will
7:40 have to be DisplayPort since they are DisplayPort ready that's awesome it's
7:44 perfect for ifinity next you've got USB
7:47 so this one says oh this is interesting so you've got two USBS here one of them
7:51 is control out and the other one is
7:54 control in I'm going to go ahead and guess that's something to do with that
7:58 remote control thing that we saw this is a monitor selection button so
8:03 we'll have to figure out what that does too and next we have a power input as
8:09 well as a power switch and this is good because I called those extension cords
8:13 but because this has a power out that's shaped like a p like a PC power cord
8:19 like a um I guess what would that be female like a female PC power cord you
8:24 can actually just daisy chain one monitor over to the next one in order to
8:27 make things as tidy as possible but we haven't even gotten to the part
8:32 of this thing that is so cool check out
8:37 how thin the bezel is on this monitor so
8:40 I don't remember the specs uh I did read
8:43 them before I started but I did assume that I would forget them and I brought
8:48 myself a handy dandy tape measure in order to measure them for you guys so
8:52 the bottom bezel is let's see that's half an inch so that's wow that's like
8:59 just over a/4 of an inch so whatever whatever that unit is I think those are
9:03 16 so like 516 of an inch on the
9:07 bottom on the top it looks like just a
9:11 little bit bigger yeah so that looks like about
9:14 616 okay so hold on you got one two three four five that's five either way
9:21 okay you know what you guys can figure this out you're really smart I'm holding
9:24 the tape measure up for you you can always look it up on the Samsung website now let's look at the side bezel
9:29 which are even thinner because that's the most critical one because that is
9:35 where you're going to be able to reduce the amount of bezel blocking your images
9:42 when you're running in AMD ifinity so
9:45 when you put these next to each other you're actually only going to have here
9:49 we'll grab another one since we conveniently have three of these
9:54 monitors packaged together like this all right so when you're running an
9:59 Infinity mode you're only going to have
10:03 wow these are heavy too the metal casing
10:06 uh the overall yeah industrial design of them is very uh it feels very beefy
10:11 unlike most consumer models that's it
10:15 that's all you have in terms of a bezel
10:18 in between your monitors so here the last thing I want to do for the unboxing
10:22 because as I can clearly see from the 11
10:26 Step assembly process that is in the user manual I'm not going to be building
10:30 this on camera so the last thing I want to show you guys is the stand it comes
10:35 with look at this thing is that a
10:38 monitor stand or what so here we'll put
10:42 that there want to have a look at the overall finish of it because this is the
10:47 kind of thing that when you buy a monitor that's two grand essentially
10:51 you're not buying a monitor you're buying like a piece of furniture
10:55 basically this has to sit on your desk it has to look absolutely Ely gorgeous
11:00 while providing the functionality that you paid for so let's have a look at how
11:06 the overall fit and finish of this is going to be oh that's
11:13 nice actually that's really nice so they what they've done is they've
11:20 uh they've put a gorgeous brushed finish
11:23 on the stand all right there's a little bit of
11:27 dust on it but don't let that uh don't let that take away from the experience
11:31 can you see that in the camera uh like the uh the the brushed
11:35 lines here try and get some different angles so you can see that it's just
11:39 wonderful looks really really nice and I
11:42 just want to have a quick look here at what else we have in terms of uh of
11:47 adjustments it looks like like it almost
11:50 looks height adjustable but the pressure that I'm putting on it doesn't seem to
11:54 be doing anything but I guess we'll figure that out later okay so just so
11:59 you guys can have a little quick look at the bottom it's got a bunch of rubber
12:03 feet on it so no matter how hard you try
12:06 it should be fairly difficult to knock this monitor over you can see the base
12:11 is quite wide even when you compare it to the size of the apparatus that will
12:17 be connected to it okay so it's about uh the width and change of one of the
12:22 single monitors so it's going to come out to about here looking at me it's
12:26 going to come out to about here and then up to about s of here like about my
12:30 armspan tip to tip is how wide this is going to be so thank you for checking
12:34 out actually hold on here let me check the box really quick and we'll go over
12:38 the specs somewhat so Samsung is advertising a
12:44 150,000 to1 Dynamic contrast ratio okay
12:48 these are 23 in I don't think I mentioned the resolution these are 1080p
12:53 monitors each so that means that they run at uh what is it 5760 I think by
13:00 1080 uh or if you're running them in portrait mode they're going to be
13:04 whatever 3 * 1080 is by 1920 okay uh what else do we have to say
13:10 about these guys before we wrap this up I think that is pretty much it I did
13:17 want to find out if it had a height adjustable
13:20 stand um but tell you what if you guys
13:25 can find out for me and post it in the comments under yes it's it's height
13:29 adjustable completely height adjustable uh well not completely I mean 100 100 mm
13:34 so 10 cm height adjustable and then also
13:37 you can uh those hinges that we unboxed before in the accessory package uh these
13:43 guys right here so what these are for is they actually attach uh two at each
13:48 hinge they attach to the back of the monitors and they allow you to adjust up
13:53 to a 30° angle the outer monitors for
13:57 your for your peripheral vision so you're looking more straight at them
14:00 instead of having it as like one big long flat panel so thank you for
