0:00 - Gaming PCs? (blows raspberry) No, thank you.
0:03 I'll take the latest and greatest gaming phone, if you please.
0:07 Which today is the Redmi RedMagic 6.
0:11 That's what we're taking a look at today. I'm not super acquainted with gaming phones.
0:16 I've heard a lot about gaming phones, but I've never actually gotten a chance to really
0:20 take one for a spin myself, take a look at it.
0:23 There's two boxes here that seem identical.
0:27 (box clatters) What's that about? (exhales) There is a RedMagic 6 and then there's a RedMagic 6 Pro.
0:35 Which one is which? I think they might be physically identical,
0:40 other than the storage and RAM that's inside.
0:44 So for the most part, I shouldn't have to look at both of them.
0:47 I'm just gonna look at one, okay guys? Whoa! Look at that.
0:52 That's fancy. That's all metal, smooth.
0:56 This looks like a super car. This looks like one of Tony Stark's gadgets
1:00 that he would pop out of his shoe or something and it would turn into a transforming drone.
1:05 It's even got two dramatic modes. It's like, "Flashy! Dramatic."
1:10 (imitates angelic singing) (imitates metal music)
1:14 (imitates angelic singing) We got speaker grills? They must be.
1:18 Or, you know what, they're not speaker girls probably, they're probably cooling vents.
1:22 Because one thing that I do know about this phone
1:26 is that it has seven different ways of cooling the processor, which seems a little crazy.
1:31 At least two of those are in an eternal turbo fan and a VC liquid cooling.
1:37 Oh, vapor chamber. But then there's a bunch of other ways as well
1:40 that we're gonna take a look at. Headphone jack! Volume rocker, maybe, on this side
1:44 and a lock some kind of button. I'll figure out what it does when I turn
1:49 on the phone on I guess. Power button, ah, and gaming triggers.
1:53 That's something you want on a gaming phone. 'Cause you're gonna hold it like this.
1:57 That's how you get the headshots. You can't get headshots like this. I've tried.
2:01 You need. (imitates lasers) USB-C for charging on the bottom
2:06 and I guess that that must be a speaker. Unless all the speakers are also cooling vents.
2:11 Ooh, they give you a protector for it.
2:14 Documentation, game time, anytime. A red USB-C, two C cable,
2:21 which I'm guessing works with what is probably in this box,
2:25 which is the power adapter, USB-C power adapter.
2:28 Nice. I think it's a 30 watt adapter. And let me just say, unequivocally, at this point,
2:34 that I know that the difference between the RedMagic 6
2:38 and the RedMagic 6 Pro is that one has 12 gigs of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage
2:46 and the other one has 16 gigabytes
2:49 and 256 gigabytes of storage. I think they are largely identical other than the fact
2:55 that there's a different color scheme. There's other boxes!
2:59 RedMagic Dual Core Cooler. Oh my goodness.
3:03 So that's the thing with gaming phones, they get really hot. You think normal phones get hot when you're trying
3:08 to just scroll Twitter and that's it? These boys, these bad boys get hot
3:14 when they're trying to give you all the frames that you need in PUBG mobile.
3:18 And even despite the fact that there's, it's got seven different forms of cooling,
3:22 I guess you can also get one of these and slap it on there.
3:26 Powered by USB-C, okay. So you can power it from the phone?
3:31 If you're just like, "I don't care if my phone lasts, you know, 30 minutes,
3:36 I need this match." The ear buds, okay, this I actually do wanna
3:40 take a quick peek at because what is this, that box looks crazy.
3:44 Whoa. Whoa.
3:49 (laughs) That's angular. This is like if a dragon made.
3:54 Well, it's even got little horns. It's got like little devil horns.
3:58 (laughs) What are the lights?
4:02 (imitates lasers)
4:07 In a world where an evil authoritarian regime
4:12 keeps gamers down, only one pair of ear buds
4:16 can give them the RGB power. Now time to turn the phone on.
4:20 But before I do that, this video is sponsored by Vessi Footwear.
4:25 Thanks for sponsoring this video, guys. I love you.
4:29 As you can see, I wear their shoes all the time. It's dirty on the bottom because it's worn.
4:33 It's lived in. Vessi Footwear is known for being lightweight, comfortable,
4:36 and most importantly, waterproof. The shoes are made with a material called Dynamax,
4:40 which keeps your feet cool in summer and warm in winter. If that sounds good to you, keep your feet dry

4:53 What have we got here? Okay, so as usual, gaming phones
4:57 usually have 1080p screens, full HD, which is the case with this one.
5:01 I believe it has a 165hz refresh rate,
5:05 which I can already see doing that, whoa!
5:08 A 6.8 inch screen, I guess on both.
5:11 As I was saying, the Pro and the non-Pro version
5:15 are largely identical other than the RAM and the storage inside.
5:18 It's an AMOLED screen and, as I said, there's 165hz refresh rate.
5:22 But there's a 360hz? Is that right?
5:26 Yes, it is. 360 Hertz multi-sampling touch refresh rate.
5:32 So I guess that helps with games. This is my number one least favorite thing
5:37 that some Android manufacturers do. They try to make the Android more like the iPhone
5:41 and don't give it an app drawer. So all your apps just have to be
5:44 on the home screen somewhere. But the thing is that even the iPhone has added an app drawer basically now, so.
5:50 They have multiple models of external coolers
5:53 that you can slap onto this thing.
5:57 I don't know, I'll check it out on your face. (camera shutter clicks)
6:00 John-o, I don't know if this phone has beauty face, it almost certainly does, but you look beautiful to me.
6:06 There was also a watermark for our convenience. (both laugh)
6:11 We got 64 megapixel main camera, an eight megapixel ultra wide camera,
6:16 and a two megapixel bokeh camera. So I guess the camera will be pretty good
6:21 with all of those lenses after all. The main thing that I'm interested in
6:24 is this thing's performance as a gaming machine and how much those seven different types of cooling
6:29 come into play. I've already said the internal turbo fan,
6:32 the vapor chamber liquid cooling,
6:36 but there's also a graphite sheet, a thermal gel, copper foil, air ducts,
6:43 which I think I identified earlier, aviation grade aluminum heat sink somewhere in there,
6:48 aircraft aluminum rear housing. Okay, so that's what I was talking about.
6:52 This is aircraft-grade aluminum, dude. And then you got the Dual Core Ice Dock.
6:57 Okay, so I guess this thing counts as one of the seven. But that's okay.
7:00 There's six that comes with the phone already. I'm online with people, people, oh, select load out?
7:06 But I need to, I need to map the triggers. The phone actually has a manual.
7:10 What the heck? Why doesn't it talk about the triggers? This is so weird.
7:14 I expected to see more software on the actual phone pertaining to gaming.
7:19 Well, there doesn't appear to be any way to get the triggers working.
7:25 Yeah, I'm gonna give you the straight up as a gaming phone. 'Cause you know, I'm assuming that at some point
7:30 you can get the triggers working, which would, oh, a bad guy!
7:34 Oh, you're fricking dead. I'm so good at shooting on a phone.
7:39 Headshot, bro. - [John] (laughs) That's so easy, though.
7:42 - I don't hear the fan going, so it must not be that demanding of a game.
7:46 Okay, this is intelligent regulation.
7:51 (fan whirs) We're gonna go to the high power mode.
7:56 Fast cooling. (fan whirs)
8:01 Ooh. Now, will I get more frames with this?
8:05 That's what I wanna know. Well, oh, is it getting a bit warm?
8:10 I can feel it getting a bit warm, even though the fan's going at full blast.
8:15 But I did just turn it on. And now I'm standing in the middle of the battlefield
8:18 and not dying. Well, safe to say this is a gaming phone, John.
8:24 I don't know if you know. You know, I'm disappointed by the fact
8:28 that I can't, I couldn't figure out how to map the triggers
8:31 onto the buttons because I know that that is something you can do for sure.
8:36 I just, I mean, that's something that I'm gonna say
8:39 as a point against the phone is the fact that that's hard to find because we couldn't find it.
8:44 Where is it? Send us an email, Redmi. So we got the RedMagic 6 Pro and the RedMagic 6 vanilla.
8:53 The vanilla, which is not it's called, but that's what I'm calling it,
8:56 is 599 us and the RedMagic 6 Pro is 699 US.
9:03 Anyways, that's it. Thanks for watching, guys.
9:06 Don't forget to subscribe to ShortCircuit for more videos that are probably better than this one.
9:12 And you know what, hey, you know what, hey, you know some other channels that make really good videos?
9:15 TechLink. There's a lot of critics on this channel as well.
9:20 Not as good tech reviews.
