so crisis 2 and the GTX 590 are both out
0:04
so for this uh heavyweight battle I have
0:07
the GTX 590 as well as the Radeon HD
0:11
6990 and then whatever else I get around to benchmarking before the end of the
0:15
day you can see my video card box is right there so uh I'll figure out what
0:20
makes sense but I'm going to do some crisis 2 benchmarks since this is my
0:24
first time benching crisis 2 I just want to show you guys what methodology I'll
0:28
be using to test it so first of all you can see in the options I have configured
0:32
it at 1080p with no vsync so that I can get a more accurate reading you can see
0:36
the frame rate can clearly go over a thousand in the menu and I'm using the
0:40
extreme system spec and then that's pretty much it there's honestly it just
0:45
reaks of console Port it just does I mean you turn it on it asks you to
0:50
adjust your TV and then you go in there there's no real anti-aliasing options or
0:55
anything like that the reason that I am using the options that are in here
0:59
rather than custom in things in the control panel is that I want you guys to
1:02
be able to replicate the results easily at home so here we go I am going to go
1:06
ahead and resume my game it also does not have save games or loading games or
1:12
load games so I have to just play through a particular checkpoint and then
1:16
make sure that I die before I get to the next checkpoint which is epic fail so
1:21
basically I'm going to point myself this way I'm going to press my Benchmark
1:24
start button and I will be playing for 2 minutes I have a little route that I'm
1:28
going to follow and I'll I'll be focused mostly
1:32
on following my path and less on killing
1:36
specific guys so I go to that one side make sure he's dead and then I'm going
1:42
to head towards the camp that I have to
1:45
infiltrate I'm going to be using a walking speed so that my run throughs
1:48
will be fairly consistent and this guy can die now I am
1:52
playing on easy mode sorry guys it just really is a lot easier to Benchmark on
1:58
easy than it is to
2:01
um Benchmark on like hard mode because
2:05
this guy see won't turn around on easy and I can kill him instead of trying to
2:08
deal with whatever he's going to be throwing at me if I don't kill him ahead
2:13
of time so I'm going to go up these stairs
2:16
here should be a guy here let's see
2:19
there he is hello now you're dead now
2:22
you're dead there we go I'm going to head down this way and back towards the entrance where
2:28
he'll die
2:31
and this is like I said it's about a two-minute run
2:36
through you'll
2:39
die and the most important thing is just
2:43
lots of scenery I'm going to blow up some barrels later on just to see how
2:48
low the frame rate dips and uh following
2:51
the same consistent run through is what I am aiming for here so you guys can die
2:58
yay spray and prey you can die and then I'm going to be headed over
3:03
here to blow up these barrels and hopefully they'll stop shooting me boom
3:07
very nice and then I'm going to wait here for fraps to stop reporting and
3:12
just do some sniping from here so this should give me fairly consistent results
3:17
based on what I've seen so far and when frap stops recording it'll
3:23
show the frame rate counter up in the top right again there we go so frabs has
3:26
stopped recording so here I'll share with you guys in the intro my results
3:31
with crisis 2 running at 1080p in the
3:34
extreme preset with the GTX 590 so then
3:38
all I do is go into my fraps folder go
3:41
into my benchmarks folder and bring up this little file so that is what I used
3:45
to compile my results I'm going to run some other video cards through this game
3:48
and find out how they stack up in this latest and greatest crisis 2 title be in
3:53
mind guys it's not direct X11 yet because there's no patch for it at the
3:57
moment so what I'll probably do is retest once we have direct X11 as
4:02
well so um I will not be releasing a
4:06
crisis 2 GPU guide video today because
4:10
there are some issues with the game so number one with my radon 6990 and just
4:16
for Giggles I tried a different one to see if that would fix the problem it did
4:20
not uh with my 6990 I get this awesome
4:24
awesome flickering issue outstanding so there's a 13 page thread on some crisis
4:30
Forum or other where people are anyone running multi-GPU is complaining about
4:34
flickering performance issues uh some people are getting uh the bloom effects
4:38
flickering others are getting Shadows flickering I'm getting a whole screen flickering so I have no idea what that
4:44
means in terms of this performance number and how close that is to how
4:47
it'll actually run but like look at this isn't this outstanding I could get a
4:52
headache playing like this in like a minute I mean the game runs I suppose
4:57
but yeah it's uh pretty apparent that nobody at EA or krych thought it
5:01
necessary to ever test the game with a multi-GPU setup based on how many people
5:06
are having issues so my performance review will have to wait and uh so yeah
5:11
on the NVIDIA side guess what this this is actually kind of funny because where
5:15
did my GTX 590 go oh here it
5:19
is the GTX 590 actually runs crisis 2
5:23
just fine I get 91.7 FPS compared to 62
5:28
FPS at the same settings with the GTX 580 so that's probably about right
5:32
considering how much lower it's clocked and sort of decent but not great scaling
5:37
but get this my GTX 580 SLI setup
5:41
actually scores only about 57 frames per second with my same playthrough so that
5:45
means that while it doesn't flicker like the 6990 does my performance actually
5:50
goes down in SLI with my particular SLI setup some people running SLI are
5:55
complaining about flickering and other random issues too but that doesn't seem
5:59
to be the problem I'm having with my system I've tried wiping drivers uh
6:03
there's a fix out there it involves renaming the exe which because I'm using
6:07
a steam copy I cannot do so guys basically this is just a teaser video
6:12
that I will be doing a performance review of Crisis 2 as soon as I'm able
6:18
to run all of my cards with it and I will be including as many gpus as I
6:22
possibly can to give you guys the most comprehensive results don't forget to
