so you think your computer's cool with its 150 FPS and doom maybe it is but how
0:05
does it fair when you roll 7,000 wheels of cheese down a hill stress testing
0:11
with Ida and fermar is for Chumps compared to exploiting hilarious
0:15
features of popular game engines you see
0:19
every once in a while a video comes out of someone doing something silly in a
0:23
video game that looks rather impressive while completely crippling their
0:29
computers per performance we've got examples like the classic 3,000 Barrel
0:34
explosion in crisis 1 the previously mentioned thousands of cheese wheels
0:38
rolling down a hill in Skyrim tons of TNT altering the landscape of the map in
0:43
Minecraft and most recently a huge
0:46
amount of nuke mines going off in Fallout 4 they're fun because of the
0:51
insane amount of physics events usually
0:54
cause computers of mere mortals to
0:57
figuratively melt but we here at lineus Tech tips have a literal Warehouse of
1:03
high-end Hardware so equipped with a 6850k a couple of NVIDIA $1,200 Titan XP
1:10
graphics cards and a 10 Core Extreme edition
1:13
6950x let's see if we can hold these be
1:24
off Intel skull Canyon Nook features a sixth generation core i7 processor and
1:30
Thunderbolt 3 you can learn more at the link in the video description first
1:35
things first let's start with test subject number one which is what I'm
1:38
calling our first test bench there isn't going to be much changes but still it's
1:42
got a 5820k for its processor which is cooled by a big dual rad and we have a
1:47
Titan XP along with 32 gigs of RAM so
1:50
it's a ridiculously high-end system already and we'll be upgrading it later
1:54
on moving on down from here we're following the HDMI cable all the way
1:58
down to the HDMI splitter as you can see
2:02
we have three cables here because I need to see what's going on and we need to
2:05
record it so one of these cables comes up to our Avio
2:10
4K um epam capture card and that goes
2:14
into this laptop which will be capturing the footage so we can show that to you
2:18
guys on the green screen and then if we rotate a little bit I have my own
2:22
monitor that I can see off to the side so I edited the Island map in Crisis 3
2:28
to add like 3,500 explosive barrels I think it is
2:33
right now in fraps I'm getting about 60 to 70 FPS but it does feel a little
2:39
sluggish you can see all these barrels floating in the air here now if I happen
2:44
to bump into one of them that would start a cascading physics event similar
2:50
to how dominoes work but because there's so many of them it's going to cause the
2:54
computer to have some problems so let's try this I'm just going to bump into the
2:57
barrel oh and you can see see I'm just kind of like sliding around here and
3:02
physics events are repeating so it's teleporting me back close to the barrels
3:07
hurting me a little bit moving all the barrels by a chunk and then teleporting
3:12
me back so running into the barrels is actually worse than blowing them up
3:17
which is kind of funny so let's blow them up so begin The fraps Benchmark and
3:23
fire the bullet you can see the shell on the right side of the gun actually lags
3:27
as it's coming out and then as the explo expon happens you'll notice that there's
3:32
a little bit of repetition in style that's because each one of the barrels
3:36
is blowing up the same way as all the other barrels there's an insane amount
3:41
of things just flying around the screen
3:44
right now and you can see them moving in chunks and you can actually notice that
3:48
the different physics events are being updated at different times because as
3:52
big Luke is pointing at right now the barrel explosions are all happening at a
3:56
faster rate than the barrel fragments are flying away from them and you can
4:00
see the water moving at its own rate as well and now that the explosions are all
4:04
done the fragments from the barrels are starting to move at a much higher rate
4:08
the overall frame rate of the computer is picking up so we're at about 24 FPS
4:12
right now there is still a lot of stuff flying around again I can move somewhat
4:17
okay it is very chunky but the swaying
4:20
movement of my gun on the screen is actually totally fine the only problem
4:25
is my actual movement across the map and
4:29
there's still still a huge amount of barrel fragments in the air now if we
4:34
can get over to the pile of where the barrels are yeah here we go you can see
4:38
that there's just a huge amount of tops and bottoms of barrels this is what I
4:42
was talking about how it kind of multiplies the amount of things that are in the scene if I bump into them I even
4:48
jutter and get hurt and will probably eventually die and the game's going to
4:53
lag out a little bit as all the barrels kind of move themselves anyways this was
4:57
cool move on to the next one for our next experiment we will need Elder
5:01
Scrolls Skyrim find your favorite Hill or Mountain Side stand up on it save
5:06
your game so you can come back to it more easily because your computer May
5:10
crash open up your console by pressing one of the buttons in the top leftand is
5:14
corner of your computer also known as Tilda and now that we have unlocked the
5:17
power of the console we will summon our wheels of
5:22
cheese you will do this by typing in
5:26
player.pl at me space 0000 6 4 b36 just
5:32
think of it of our as our evil incantation then we will put in the
5:36
amount that we want to summon in this case 1,000 because we haven't summoned
5:40
any yet so we're not super worried about the performance effects we will press
5:43
enter you will see cheese appear on the screen but not much happen you then need
5:47
to lower the console by pressing the till the button and
5:51
then all of the cheese but that is not
5:55
enough we have not seen a Major Performance impact on the fraps number
5:59
in in the lower corner so we must summon more press the till the Key again press
6:03
the up Arrow key to bring back our previous incantation press the enter
6:07
button again because we want a thousand more wheels of cheese press the till the
6:12
button for it to go away and more cheese is summoned let's move
6:17
up to 6,000 this is usually where I start having problems 6,000 6,500 is a
6:22
pretty bad time in terms of how the computer's going to be able to manage
6:25
things you can see some of the last bits of cheese that are coming from my most
6:30
recent incantation are still trickling
6:33
down the hill because everything's just going so slowly at this point so we're
6:37
now sitting about four or 5 FPS time to be relentless oh NOP NOP NOP we have
6:42
apparently been Relentless enough the computer is done there will be no more
6:47
cheese summoning today sir so next up we
6:50
have Fallout 4 where we're going to throw down uh well the original plan was
6:55
5,000 nuke mines okay so one thing I'm going to do right now is just save the
6:59
game new save file and then load it just
7:03
to kind of make sure that everything's good because I do need to run this test
7:07
twice okay oh dear that doesn't look
7:11
good at all uh I'm pretty sure every time I load the
7:17
save files oh okay yeah I don't know what it's
7:24
doing now hopefully it's going to work apparently every time that I load the
7:28
save game with my my 500 mines laid down
7:32
it explodes so um we're going to pretend
7:35
that I wasn't going to do this Benchmark and we're going to move on to Minecraft
7:39
our plan here is to suddenly and drastically change a part of the map
7:44
we're going to do that with 1,000 blocks of TNT in a 10x 10x 10 column going
7:50
straight down into the Earth man this is actually surprisingly easy with creative
7:54
mode I've never really played creative mode much and just as a note you will
7:57
need Flint
8:01
what oh okay I screwed up pull the Flint again right click there we go then I'm G
8:05
to oh God fly away please we're going to watch it
8:09
explode oh my freaking goodness that
8:13
didn't hurt the computer that much we only went down to about 16 FPS minimum
8:16
and you can see just how cool that was
8:19
we created this like massive well okay
8:23
we opened up a massive cave system that was already here and we made this like
8:27
huge waterfall which was actually just a river before now the river leads to this
8:32
giant waterfall that goes into the cave system that looks super cool and the
8:35
computer actually dealt with it pretty well okay so I had all of that prepared
8:39
ahead of time but what I don't know is if upgrading the hardware from here by
8:44
adding another two CPU cores and another
8:47
video card will let us push further so let's swap Hardware to a 6950x and add
8:53
in another Titan XP and try all those
8:56
tests again rapid fire we're going to drop in here hit it with some Flint go
9:02
back up oh jeez there we go and watch as
9:06
it goes down oh all the way down to 3
9:09
FPS and it completely destroyed everything actually oh yeah it took a
9:13
sec there to load the map I don't think I would say that that performed any
9:18
better than the previous one to the point where I might actually say it
9:22
performed worse 1,000 wheels of cheese
9:25
fly down the mountain ah ah ah ah
9:30
2,000 wheels of cheese fly down the mountain uh uh uh uh 6,000 wheels of
9:36
cheese and we're now dropping down to about 6 FPS we're getting a little bit
9:40
lower than before so test subject number two just aired out at about 7,000 wheels
9:45
of cheese that is worse than test subject number one but I don't know how
9:48
much stock I would take in that as test subject number one usually was erroring
9:52
out at about 6500 wheels of cheese okay
9:55
so this is the only one that we're actually running fraps for and it begins
9:59
you can see the shell lagging just as before all right so that was actually a
10:03
pretty huge Improvement we went from 6.4
10:06
to 8542 FPS that's pretty significant when
10:11
you're at that low of a number so if your use case for your computer is
10:17
constantly staring at 35,000 barrels exploding in crisis 1 I would definitely
10:22
recommend two Titan x's and a 6950x but
10:27
if not you probably don't have to go that hardcore in terms of Hardware I
10:33
know this was a ridiculously silly video but I had fun I hope you did as well if
10:37
you liked it like it and get subscribed and all that kind of stuff and if you're like this video is useless and adds
10:42
nothing to the overall conversation and you should be more intellectual about
10:45
your videos and this was terrible you can hit the dislike button that would be
10:49
fine check out Amazon in the description down below if this somehow inspired you
10:53
to buy something also check out the link in the description down below to find a
10:56
shirt we have some cool lus Media Group shirts that you can pick up uh watch
11:00
this video which is our review announcement video thing on the 6950x
11:06
where we discuss how ridiculously expensive it is cuz holy crap
