0:07 are you filming yes okay
0:11 cool hold on a sec I'm going to open the door first with my
0:16 keys and welcome to the lus tech tip show where we are not going to be
0:21 unboxing four separate routers we are actually going to be doing one router
0:28 this one this is Western digital's
0:32 almost well no this is their Flagship router this is the minet N900 which is
0:38 apparently about effortless entertainment okay that's good that's
0:42 good I know what they mean by that and I will explain but it's a very cryptic thing to put on the front of the Box
0:47 effortless entertainment I I'm putting effort into it already I have to open
0:50 the bag that's not effortless and I'm not entertained at all it's ridiculous
0:55 false advertising bait bait and switch bait and switch that's what customers
0:59 love to say bait and switch whenever something's wrong okay 450 plus 450
1:04 megabit dual B concurrent performance
1:07 which gives you that N900 rating HD dual band router okay got it this is the best
1:12 range out of their lineup features 1 two 3 easy setup full 1080P and it better 7
1:19 GB ports this is cool why hasn't anyone done this the home is so connected now
1:24 why does everyone make you like where did I put it I had a switch here why
1:28 does everyone make you buy there like switch separately and give you only four
1:32 ports on your router thank you Western Digital for providing an adequate number
1:36 of ports on your high performance router uh multid streams and the most important
1:41 thing about this router FastTrack Plus
1:44 so FasTrack plus is basically wd's
1:48 proprietary qos that's quality of service that dynamically analyzes the
1:54 traffic coming in and out of your router looks at it and goes okay
2:00 that traffic is sort of like shaped like this that's probably a game I'm going to
2:05 prioritize that over something else
2:08 that's less important like that's torrent traffic it actually does not
2:12 rely on any manual input from the user it does not rely on any profiles written
2:17 by WD to prioritize certain applications which is the case for the two lower end
2:22 routers the minet 600 and the 750 and it
2:26 also doesn't require any updates to continue to dynamically update itself to
2:32 provide the best quality of service it can without any input from the user
2:36 that's what they mean by effortless and it's not really effortless I mean I had
2:40 to take this thing out of the box and I have to peel the plastic off the
2:44 top it's like a job I mean this is my
2:48 job but you know whatever you guys get the point okay so let's have a look at what WD has to say for themselves more
2:53 access so you can connect ld's mybook live storage to this with up to two USB
2:57 ports One USB 3 Port cool um um for
3:01 remote access with their WD to go and WD Photos applications more control the
3:05 minet dashboard okay so this is just your their branding for controlling your
3:09 router more Simplicity supports UPnP and auto configuration good okay more HTS
3:14 FASTT track plus very good awesome more advanced features okay we've been
3:18 through this parental controls Auto sensing antenna amplifiers right so this one has the best range out of their
3:23 range of routers and you can see that
3:27 they have it positioned as being just like the uberis in every possible way so
3:30 they've all got push button WPS setup IPv6 they are all ready for it and this
3:35 one oh look it's it's a DNA server so you can actually use this as a media
3:38 server on your home network and uh well
3:41 access your media that you store on your WD hard drive that you attach to it
3:45 which is a convenient way for them to sell you more hard drives which I don't
3:49 inherently object to because it makes the product better so why not and it's
3:53 not like they're forcing you to you know it's not like they include a hard drive
3:57 with it and you know sell it to you for more like this one which we'll talk about
4:02 later okay uh right so let's have a look at the physicality of the unit there's
4:06 your power LED your wireless LED your internet LED your WPS LED and your WPS
4:11 button there's your matte finish on the top which has like more of a performance
4:15 pattern on it compared to the other ones which are just solid mat and there's
4:18 your shiny outline okay there's your power button DC in two USB ports 7 GB
4:25 Ethernet ports again Kudos WD way to go
4:28 way to figure out what no one else could that like you know 40 cents of extra
4:33 Ethernet ports might actually make a difference to your customers um there's
4:37 your Wan Port so that's your internet port there is oh it has a cooling fan
4:41 that better be quiet! uh I really hope that's only enabled like out of under
4:45 heavy load there's your reset switch and there's your ventilation holes so this
4:49 looks like an exhaust so as long as you have this down like this or wall mounted
4:53 it does come with flexible mounting options and you shouldn't have any uh
4:57 shouldn't have any trouble with that included accessories in include include
5:01 the inclusion of a technical support and limited warranty guide a start here
5:05 guide with simple steps for people who don't know how to set up a router I do
5:10 you
5:14 know power cable and an Ethernet cable
