0:02 what so we left and we came back and we're still so early it's still Thursday
0:08 w w oh my God we're a whole day early
0:13 yeah it's amazing and we have we have water that's cool right this this is the
0:19 earliest the W show has ever been yeah
0:23 if we were super popular YouTubers I would just smash this on the ground and
0:26 then get tons of more views it's not a thing now that's that's a thing yeah
0:30 what why but we are just very not super
0:35 we're just mostly popular the whole Princess Bride thing mostly popular and
0:40 ridiculously on time dead or mostly dead
0:43 we're just mostly we're mostly Dead memes um so we are taking the longest
0:51 long weekend of all lus Media Group time
0:55 minus me except you we're taking Friday and Monday off so we deci deed to stream
1:00 on Thursday so that everyone except Luke
1:05 who works at a different company now good for him yeah except in this case
1:10 never never time off where it's bad for him yeah and you you're working uh
1:14 you're still working the Friday right
1:17 y Monday off though Monday's a stat isn't it not everywhere oh
1:23 right national holidays brilliant half
1:27 of my full-time force is not in Canada right so there you go what national
1:31 holiday is it I don't know it's something I don't know it's a stat
1:37 though is it isn't it is it even have I been fooled by all the other staff I'm
1:41 pretty sure it's a stat Canada stat we're horrible
1:45 Canadians uh good I'm pretty sure it
1:48 isn't good Friday hold on there are 16 more
1:53 rows oh God Valentine's Day how is Valentine's Day at St Civic holiday what
1:59 is that oh it's BC day ah BC day and then they
2:03 all have like their own so that's why we don't know or probably doesn't get the
2:08 day off bam oh hey I didn't even realize
2:12 that yeah so yeah we're just literally all working it's not even National there
2:16 you go so I can't take the day off because no one else is and that's stupid
2:21 well it's it's rough but I don't have to like come to work so I can sit in like
2:26 my boxers at home and just like work on full plane so it's kind of like that's
2:30 nice yeah so it's like it's uh it's like casual day yeah yeah except you can
2:35 actually just have your junk hanging out oh yeah cool so it's like very casual
2:41 day okay so here's something that I want
2:45 to know yeah and we'll get into okay no hold on let's introduce no no we'll get
2:49 into the topics a little because this is very important okay all right okay now
2:53 we all know PC culture right okay right
2:57 everything's politically correct now there's no you can't see I wasn't actually sure if you're talking about
3:01 personal computer or politically correct of course I'm not going to ask obvious
3:05 questions okay okay and you can't
3:08 discriminate based on anything do I have something on my head but what if the
3:13 person's a nudest but okay so if you had
3:17 have dress code though if you had a c but but hold on but hold on this is what
3:21 I want to know this is what I okay look look if you had a casual Friday okay and
3:26 you did not have a company dress code which we don't
3:30 and somebody showed up naked and there
3:33 was no policy in place is it discriminatory it's still technically a
3:39 government sanction though is it well yeah because it's indecency oh it is
3:44 yeah there's a law for that indecency yeah ah and then there's the flippy back
3:50 and forthy law thing where like uh
3:54 certain like in in most areas I think
3:58 women can't have their tops complet complely off because you can't show your nipples but then in some places you're
4:02 alive like on Twitch yes but then I
4:05 believe in Vancouver you can't because of what's
4:09 her face Linda whatever her name was there was some like nudest protester who
4:13 was always all over the place top and then they were just like whatever we don't care and then I think in New York
4:18 it's the same thing I think I'm not really sure and there's other areas
4:22 where it's okay okay okay okay so like I think you'd be able to like just have
4:26 bottoms on in most places got it
4:30 it I don't know fascinating I don't actually so we've actually got a lot of
4:35 great topics for you today T of them competition is great for the industry
4:40 NVIDIA claims 3x performance with a new
4:43 driver update for the Titan XP I wonder what prompted that driver update just to
4:47 be clear because I really hate when these things are vague because it drives
4:50 me freaking insane it's 3x performance in specific applications not games AMD
4:55 clarifies why Threadripper uses four d
4:59 on the chip what else we got GTX 1070
5:03 killer it's a killer RX Vega 56 bench marks leaked
5:09 again like everything else from every other company cuz everything gets leaked
5:13 CU that's that's advertising right now it leaked it leaked all over the
5:19 place oh my god did you do that on
5:22 purpose it's really hot so I wouldn't be surprised I actually am feeling pretty
5:26 good right now with the ice water down the front of the shirt there you go RX
5:30 Vega prices and bundles have been confirmed leaked confirmed leaked
5:35 whatever leaked firmed welcome to the news firmly
5:41 leaked and it's intro
5:44 time it's going to cause some firm leakage on my
5:50 side I wish I wasn't drinking I wish you weren't drinking at
5:54 work too but what can I do about it casual FR Thursday casual Thursday yeah
6:01 no I don't drink oh you drink water yes yes go
6:07 Master SP B Savage leaking
6:12 jerky a no that's not what it is no oh
6:16 boy you know what this is going to be a fun show because it has show it was a
6:21 short week yes but it was already a hell
6:25 of a week I shot my Fri cinemagraph this
6:30 week oh those are cool what what were you doing okay what was going on
6:34 hopefully none of this is embargoed or anything but uh MSI actually sent a a
6:41 photo crew out here from like I don't
6:44 know the the the kind of director the art director was from Sweden and she was
6:49 hilarious she was like the most stereotypically Swedish woman I've ever
6:53 met with like the hair in the like Curly thing and the flower and freaking
6:57 everything she was delightful um um and
7:01 you know what she came with complete instructions and didn't fall apart in
7:04 two weeks go figure go figure anyway um so
7:11 so she had me they actually used a lot of our equipment which was cool made me
7:15 feel very professional that like this we had these things available yeah this
7:19 baller photo crew that travels around the world you know doing professional
7:23 shoots and stuff was like oh yeah that's pretty good equipment maybe we'll use
7:26 that they even used our green screen which was pretty cool so they had me set up in front of the green screen and they
7:31 had me do like these like these little like actions like I was supposed to be
7:37 like like looking off to the side and like cuz the rest of the frame will be
7:41 still and if you're not familiar with what a cinemagraph is it's a really cool
7:45 on I can try to pick them up while you talk yeah if you want to grab a couple is your screen sharing working yes it is
7:50 oh fantastic so most of the frame is still but then selectively there's a
7:55 little bit of motion so it's actually an MSI here I'll flip over to so there you
8:00 go so she's still the wall still but the but the bubbles blow which is which is
8:04 pretty cool uh there's another really cool one um if you go down uh this one's
8:10 really good this one's really good yeah so the mug steams but
8:15 everything else is everything else is completely still and it's not like like
8:18 nothing in here would naturally move but it's it's not like there's mostly no
8:22 movement there's actually none except for the steam yeah so what's supposed to
8:27 go on in this one is I'm supposed to have the um MSI infinite a gaming PC
8:34 like hovering under my hand like some wizard wizard stuff and then I'm
8:39 supposed to like look at it and then like slightly glance to the camera but
8:43 everything about me will be maybe still or maybe they'll put a little bit of our
8:47 movement to like be manipulating this like spinning PC and uh yeah I'm I don't
8:53 know it was like a an hour of uh it was
8:56 an hour of shooting with just me and then they had like another 2 hours with
9:01 the system and with they're actually going to do it in our Workshop set so
9:06 I'm not going to be on in like some weird location or something so here's a
9:10 uh here's another example it's loading
9:15 loading wow uh this is not a great way to go
9:20 Twitter way to go Twitter but this is a razor cinemagraph yeah so the idea the
9:26 guy doesn't move but like the colors change oh um whoops for on me except it
9:30 just it it keeps like loading and freezing because yeah I don't know
9:35 either Twitter or our Wi-Fi so it's like that but better yeah yeah pretty much
9:41 sweet um but they're cool so that was fun what were you up to this week this
9:45 week wow wow um I hired someone wow I
9:51 thought I got and then like didn't really get but maybe still he's going to
9:56 message me message me later a domain thing
9:59 right yeah have you heard from him about it not working I heard from him he said he's going to check his email but he
10:03 hasn't done it yet so we'll see uh
10:10 uh what did I do I was very busy but I'm trying to remember everything that I
10:14 did figured out some weird stuff with some tax things figured out that maybe
10:19 we have to go to America um balancing
10:22 the pros and cons of just straight up moving to Quebec um there's been a lot of it's
10:27 been a lot of weird stuff you'll have to speak French no I
10:34 can't this will have to speak French
10:37 lordy they will hate you yes especially because my last name I will actually be
10:41 lynched anglophones that move over there
10:44 and like straight up are like hello Bon
10:50 I would like to order waffles the waffles like no they're
10:57 going to hate you I'm going to have to I'm going to have to like get all my
11:00 food delivered from Amazon or just buy it at Costco and literally never say a
11:05 word I've gotten through certain foreign countries that way but it's like
11:09 pretending I'm mute and just being like I know how all this stuff works and just
11:13 like being obvious about things and then just never talking and just it it works
11:17 it's fine K back
11:20 no oh my God is that is that
11:27 the French yes oh my God no oh man but
11:32 like yeah okay seriously right now and there's some theories and a prime
11:36 actually has a very good always speak English you are stupid English people at
11:41 lonus Tech yeah yeah some of you do yeah
11:44 if you go to Montreal sure but you make your way out into the BBS and it's a
11:49 whole other story yeah so um I I've been
11:53 looking through rums and a very very large like 75 80 85% of the strong
12:00 resumés are from Montreal or Quebec or
12:04 or Quebec City or or Verdun or wherever
12:07 there's quite a few different areas but it's all in Quebec to some degree a huge
12:11 percentage of it interesting and not even just programmers a lot of different
12:15 talent that I'm looking for seems to be over there and English speaking ones are
12:19 moving to the states to make more money a prime theory is the frankophones don't
12:22 want to move ah oh
12:30 oh I need a cigarette a really long one
12:34 so like like really good programmers
12:38 from other parts of the country that are English main speaking either like move
12:41 to the states or everyone else moved to the states so they stay here and get paid ludicrous amounts of M
12:46 right fascinating all right yeah I don't
12:49 know pre-recorded yes uh technically no
12:53 we are actually very live right now we were thinking of spoofing you guys and
12:56 just like playing this on Friday and then we were like
13:00 H YOLO whatever y all right so um should we do an actual
13:06 Tech topic here I mean we can I mean this one's pretty interesting mazore
13:10 settings on the Forum was the original poster for this the Titan typo is that
13:15 supposed to be Max settings I I don't even you know what maybe it's like a
13:20 maybe it's a Star Wars reference okay but isn't that Moz which
13:25 doesn't make any sense but um I I you
13:29 know what just whatever um did I just
13:33 correct you on a Star Wars thing I have very
13:38 much and very deep Star Wars knowledge I
13:42 know none of it is Canon anymore oh and
13:45 it's all old okay yeah all right you
13:48 want to talk you want to talk Grand Admiral thrawn Mary Jade fine gral thr's
13:54 Canon is he Canon yeah shut up he got brought back in oh hell's yeah the new
13:59 animated series Rebels is like is that
14:03 that story line gr Emerald Thon thank goodness cuz like out of all the like
14:08 Legions of Star Wars writers Timothy Zan has got to be no he's super stoked right
14:13 now because it's like a show about his character that's fantastic yeah and it's
14:17 like actually really cool because it brings a more dynamic character into the Star Wars Universe did they somewhat
14:22 stick to the I see I'm I like B watching
14:28 a show so you haven't started it no okay got it and I no one we don't want know
14:33 there yeah okay okay all right and like
14:36 okay I have heard from the writer that he really appreciates the depiction of
14:41 his character so they must have stuck with how he was fantastic well I am
14:46 stoked on that I you know what's another one that's said all the books are Canon
14:52 no no they're super not um I would okay I we'll get back to Titan X in a minute
14:57 um because this is more important uh you know what's another really great
15:03 opportunity for um for for for
15:06 adaptations to film is have you read the tales from the Moss Eisley Cantina no or
15:11 Cantina whatever it is Cantina I think um really good it's just a collection of
15:17 short stories in fact I think it's from a bunch of different writers but like some well-known ones like I think
15:22 Kevin for Star Wars sort of it's It's The Back stories of like everyone who's
15:26 in there oh that's cool yeah it's it's actually so that's how people know about
15:30 like the doctor and stuff cuz like I know some of those like factoids but I
15:34 have that makes a lot more sense I've been trying to figure out like what book would this be in yeah that makes way
15:39 more sense yeah so it's actually like they're they're really good and there's
15:42 such a variety from from short story to he's in Rogue one Dron no uh the the the
15:49 crazy doctor guy that oh yeah what's his face the guy who's I have the death
15:54 sentence on 12 systems you mean on 12
15:57 systems Mac PC Linux Xbox PlayStation 4
16:02 what are you talking about that has driven me crazy like and that that's the
16:07 kind of stuff that I probably would have fixed in a special edition right right
16:12 right fix one word and all of a sudden this sentence makes any sense that dude
16:17 is in Rogue one it's like a weird Cameo he like slides past the screen and
16:23 there's been some controversy there because like the town that they're in
16:26 blows the hell up so everyone's like how did he make it or I guess no that's
16:30 after yeah so that's it's no yeah so he
16:33 must have gone there and then died well
16:36 he has the death sentence on 12 systems so guess that got taken care of but
16:41 um oh yeah so I'm okay okay okay fine
16:45 we'll talk we'll talk about this basically NVIDIA posted a blog post uh
16:50 Titan XP enables new levels of performance for Creative professionals
16:53 our latest driver available today delivers three times more performance
16:56 and applications like Maya so you can create and design faster than ever
17:00 before and when you're done you can rip through Battlefield 1 at 100 frames per
17:03 second the best part is it's available from NVIDIA.com yeah that is the best part um yeah not GeForce experience
17:09 although it's also available there here's why okay while I appreciate the
17:14 gesture this is why um no competition is
17:21 a big loadable crap because NVIDIA to
17:24 their credit has actually done a reasonably good job with the tech
17:28 technology available to them of iterating and driving graphics
17:33 performance faster and faster and faster in basically the complete absence of any
17:39 competitor over the last few years when it comes to gaming yeah where
17:45 they have cut back and they have scaled
17:48 back especially and to be clear I have my criticisms of NVIDIA U the fact that
17:52 we now get each generation of gpus as
17:56 two generations of g-forces with the the the SEC the cut down card as a flagship
18:02 and then we get the real one as a Next Generation Flagship okay so I've got my
18:06 issues which is super frustrating which is frustrating clear but I understand
18:11 the business reasons why they're doing it and it's not that bad they are still
18:15 developing new gpus even if that development is driven by professional
18:19 use and the data center our title is LTX
18:22 2017 oh is it uh can you fix or do you
18:26 want me to fix oh blood um
18:30 okay uh the wi show you need to change
18:34 what category we're into news and talk uh Fridays at
18:42 :30 Pacific is yeah that's okay we'll
18:46 just leave it and the category shows talk shows talk shows Bippity boity done
18:51 thank you viewer okay all right remember
18:55 the first Titan yeah was actually
18:59 suitable for workstation use yeah so it
19:04 was actually capable of less cut down
19:08 fp64 performance compared to the gaming
19:11 cards it was more like a Quadro in that sense since then not only Titans but
19:17 also quadros have not had the same
19:21 functionality enabled compared to their Tesla counterparts and then in the case
19:26 of the very high in Tesla GP 100 that that one has excellent uh High Precision
19:31 performance as well so this is basically NVIDIA like re unlocking something that
19:38 they locked away because they didn't have to deal with
19:41 it which is
19:45 frustrating but also I'm glad that we have it like I'm I'm happy it happened
19:50 I'm sad that it had to Happ this looks like a blatant response to Vega and the
19:54 rumors around Vega are that regardless of gaming performance
19:59 it looks like it's going to be a pretty powerful professional platform which is
20:03 like weird but cool I can also see why
20:07 they're doing it you know like we have a video coming soon about AMD's Vega based
20:12 supercomputer so it's one peda flop on a single rack W and um I mean that is
20:21 between like between Mining and like
20:24 professional like research use AMD could probably more common mhm
20:29 AMD could probably sell every graphics card they could possibly
20:34 make that's great which is which is which is great um cuz they need to cuz
20:40 they really do need to um and I forget where I was going
20:44 with that right so that so right so it's not a huge surprise to me that that's
20:48 driving their design yeah it's just it hasn't been very
20:52 common in in those style of cards yes
20:58 all right right so uh let's move let's do one more topic um and then we'll just
21:03 end the show early no I'm no I'm kidding then we'll do ads so AMD clarifies why
21:08 Threadripper is using four dyes so this
21:12 was posted by diin on the Forum let go ahead and pull this up cuz check that
21:16 out there's a delited Threadripper this doesn't make any sense because epic goes
21:21 up to 32 course and also sits on a very
21:26 similar package with four exposed dieses
21:29 like this if you were to delit it so why would Threadripper also need four
21:36 because it doesn't have an eight channel memory controller like epic does so it
21:40 wouldn't need the two memory controllers
21:43 per die and it turns out that what's going
21:48 on here is because Threadripper only goes up to 16 cores what we're actually
21:52 seeing is two fully enabled dyes and
21:56 then two of them are just dummies right
22:00 and diagonal that's right so these are supposed to help spread out the heat
22:04 load according to uh you know what will give us more better heat dissipation to
22:09 our coolers well more yeah evenly dissipate so instead of it being on that
22:13 diagonal it's kind of more around better for coolers a lot better for coolers and
22:19 uh the other purpose of the two dies is actually structural so they prevent
22:23 imbalance and allow for simple cooler mounting without any chance of damaging
22:27 the CPU they are not active they're not like failed ryzen cores or anything like
22:32 that they don't even contain working transistors so there's no hope of being
22:36 able to like unlock them or something they are just dummy course AMD also
22:41 didn't want to create a new socket for Threadripper so they like found some
22:45 ways to take benefit from having these dummy core things and we're like cool
22:48 sounds good designing a socket is a fairly significant undertaking um aside
22:53 from electrically and it's really annoying yeah not not for AMD it's
22:56 really annoying for everyone else there's this whole new platform new boards new mounting holes new mounting
23:01 holes you're you're not going to be able to transfer Hardware as much it's going to be harder to have stuff on hand if
23:06 you're swapping stuff out in like a very high availability many server type of
23:10 situation it's annoying for board Partners who have to make more things
23:14 now it's annoying for everyone on the entire stack yep and you know you look
23:18 at something like USB micro b that should give you some idea how hard it is
23:23 to design a robust reliable interface
23:27 yeah and so the more of those that AMD has to build the better
23:32 Y Cool all right oh so
23:35 sponsors yeah what do we got here
23:39 sponsors oh really Cooler Master is one of our sponsors today Cooler Master
23:45 featuring keyboards covered in
23:49 dust because our entire Warehouse has
23:52 been under construction for the LA yeah don't do that why would you do a bad
23:57 idea
24:00 oh jeez what is wrong with you I'm sorry
24:04 so the cooler master master keys Pro comes in different sizes with white
24:08 lighting or RGB to suit your needs while
24:12 the pro s comes in white and RGB oh wow
24:16 the the pro s White and the pro mrgb are the newest editions to their lineup they
24:21 complete The Cooler Master keyboard profile or portfolio wow I'm terrible at
24:26 this you got it whatever Cooler Master makes good mechanical keyboards they're
24:29 great for typing they're great for gaming I have basically no complaints
24:33 they've got bright LED lighting including the AA availability of RGB
24:37 minimalistic kind of design and the interior has been completely redesigned
24:41 to fit Cherry MX switches as well as LEDs uh the master keys Pro white M and
24:47 L have white LED backlighting and if you're more if you're more into a
24:50 brighter clear white backlight versus just changing your RGB one to White
24:55 which doesn't look quite as satisfying yeah we've got bunch of different LED
24:59 lighting modes macro recording and four profile keys with easy to use software
25:04 basically they're good stuff you can check them out at the link below right
25:10 about coolermaster comom productline keyboards wow we really need
25:15 a vanity URL for that yeah oh cool oh my
25:19 yeah this one's got a detachable keyboard as well or detachable detachable keyboard detachable uh cable
25:25 as well nice which is really nice not usually usually it doesn't matter at all
25:29 but if you're packing up your keyboard to take it somewhere um where there's
25:32 actually a risk of damaging the connector in your bag or whatever it's nice to be able to take which I have had
25:36 to do recently and it is it is actually
25:39 quite nice yeah next up we've got
25:43 Squarespace square space
25:46 Squarespace Squarespace is the place to
25:49 go if you want to create your own place to go yeah with Squarespace you can take
25:55 any one of their gorgeous templates and they've got a lot of them now actually
25:59 that would be legit okay I'm just going to I'm going to cut you off here for a second I'll let you continue they should
26:03 let finish but they should they should take that as a
26:07 slogan the place to go if you want to make your own place to go it sounds kind
26:11 of like uh Like Home Depot sort of but Squarespace is it not
26:17 it's kind of like the like a Home Depot of websites yeah I don't know if I'm
26:21 allowed to say that no whatever anyway
26:24 you pick one of their gorgeous templates and just for 12 bucks a month off
26:28 starting at 12 bucks a month and you get a free domain if you buy it for the year
26:32 you just basically go okay I want pictures here text here add a menu there
26:35 it's all cloud-based it is super reliable and your site will look great
26:40 and Beautiful on any device whether it's a laptop desktop or mobile phone have
26:47 you even seen them on SmartWatches before really yeah and it was like that
26:52 can't be that great I mean it was a website on a smartwatch so it wasn't
26:55 that great but for a website it did pretty good
27:00 every site includes a free online store with their Commerce module they've got
27:04 their logo designer they've got cover pages which lets you set up a onepage
27:08 presence in just minutes and you can start a credit card free trial see I've
27:13 recovered that there you can start a trial with no credit card required over

27:28 sponsor Savage jerky which which uh I
27:32 ate all the Mojo after the show last week so I have no Mojo do you know Str
27:36 mape you know Str strr map yeah I know map so mape bought a bunch of these yeah
27:40 even though he's from New Zealand and ended up spending like just about as
27:44 much on shipping as he did for the jerky
27:48 so he's a crazy guy man we'll we'll see what he thinks of it and he has a crazy
27:52 spice tolerance so he's going to try some of the like really really
27:56 spicy what kind of punishment do you want today because honestly most of the
28:01 uh most of the pretty tame stuff has been
28:04 eaten we do have some traditional you want some traditional you can go with
28:07 the traditional I'll take it this time yes I'm going for the what oh Mojo
28:13 habanero yeah oh is that like the regular Mojo okay no I'll take the hot
28:17 one I want to I want to try this one Mojo habanero is the one where it's like
28:21 he here you pick whatever you want right in the spice profile for me where it's
28:26 good if I just don't go way too fast so three levels or three bars three bars of
28:31 spice okay I want to try this one um so
28:34 Savage jerky the jerky made with the best ingredients the best without
28:37 nitrates or preservatives the goal was to create a snack that's full of flavor
28:42 they definitely achieved
28:45 that but it isn't bad for you I'll go with ghost
28:49 pepper um we've got notes here about
28:52 what people seem to love I like the maple Buffalo bacon and I think Mojo is
28:56 my new favorite Mojo is really good Mojo and traditional are both really good mhm
29:01 and I think they're their new flavors aren't they but if you like spicy there's like ghost pepper and like
29:05 Carolina Reaper and like all that kinds of crazy
29:09 stuff I need to wait until my first one's down yeah to get acclimated to
29:13 this one but this one tastes really good too oh exactly yeah Mojo habanero also
29:17 quite nice um so that's pretty much it use
29:21 offer code LT to save 10% at Savage jerky.com
29:28 and now I'll be eating this for the rest of the show sorry in advance everyone which one
29:33 did you have today ghost pepper oh the ghost pepper is brutal yeah it's all
29:41 right yeah everything's fine this one's
29:44 really nice full plane um oh yeah what do we have oh you know what no I don't
29:48 have it ready yet let me get it ready first that's cool first up we've got a
29:53 leak that's right leakas has left the
29:57 building entered the building entered
30:00 this was posted by Mr troll over on the Forum and the original article here is
30:03 from tweak Town AMD Radeon RX Vega
30:10 56 benchmarks have been leaked and it looks like according to the leak it may
30:16 prove to be a GTX 1070
30:19 killer which would be good for them cuz the 1070 is a very nice
30:26 card is a a little bit too hot yeah but I'll I'll get i'll get
30:31 adjusted I find that one like if you take it slow is really good yeah I'm
30:34 going to have some more after um so Battlefield 1 has it beating the GTX
30:40 1070 Civ 6 same thing Doom apparently
30:43 same thing and uh Cod whatever I is that
30:46 infinite infite Warfare Warfare okay I don't know why they're benchmarking that but sure sure okay anyway it looks like
30:53 it actually looks like uh anywhere from
30:56 10 to even as much as almost 15% faster in some of those benchmarks so that
31:01 would be great news for team red although I don't know how much stake and
31:06 do we know our stock to put in this and do we know the price um
31:11 $3.99 it is rumored to be $3.99 in fact we have all the rumors for Vega pricing
31:16 and we we go through those in a minute so and okay how much is a 1070 right now
31:20 let's see GTX more about 450 450 yeah um
31:27 so the benchmarks were run at 1440p Battlefield 1 at Ultra ziv 6 at Ultra
31:32 with four times M uh multi sample anti-aliasing Doom it ultra um with tsaa
31:39 and it is rumored to be coming in at 3.99 now so yeah you can get 450 usually
31:47 closer to like 470 480 and some at$
31:51 499 that will be pretty killer um we
31:54 don't have a rumored release date though for though for that I don't think
31:58 so we'll have to wait and see when it actually shows up right other prices
32:03 though we do have as well so this was
32:07 posted by Buck goop on the
32:11 Forum and this slide here leaked by wccf
32:15 Tech says that it will be available August 2017 and there will be a Vega
32:22 64 a Vega 64 limited edition this we
32:25 knew about this we talked about when we did our unveiling at TX so that's with a
32:28 brushed metal shroud and there will be a Vega 64 liquid
32:33 cooled uh what else we got here is that just a lighter colored brush metal
32:38 shroud on the liquid cool it looks like it it might not even be lighter right I
32:42 don't know why they went so light yeah nobody does silver right
32:48 now yeah it's like they want the reference card to clash with
32:53 everything um okay so here's the room
32:58 pricing the Radeon Aqua pack which is
33:01 supposed to include the liquid card with
33:05 um with what probably with the rest of the equipment you need to run it I'm
33:08 assuming I have to see what's rumored um no but
33:14 up Vega Vega Vega Vega Vega Vega spec
33:18 spec specs reference model starts at uh
33:21 $4.99 apparently for the 64 limited
33:24 edition 295 watt card
33:28 wow wow you
33:32 guys I do I do want to say if you can scroll down for a second whoa the liquid
33:36 cooled one is apparently 350
33:40 watt wow AMD what are you doing over there
33:46 buddy ah okay sorry what were you pointing at uh just the fact that this
33:51 is just like a thing that's averaged now 12.7
33:56 Tera flops yeah that's crazy like I still remember when we like just barely
33:59 passed one and everyone was like holy crap wow a tera flop on a GPU holy
34:05 smokes um so what else we got here for
34:09 rumors so the bundles will apparently include discounts on select ryzen CPU
34:14 and motherboard combos select Samsung free sync displays and two game titles
34:19 Wolfenstein 2 and prey 2 that's really cool um the the game part is actually
34:25 surprisingly less cool than the other ones but would you you pay an extra
34:30 however much for a bundle oh wait no this okay right the
34:36 the packs aren't rumored right we I I've already made a video about that okay I
34:39 can never tell what I'm supposed to know and not supposed to know so I do know
34:43 that okay but tell me this so what's your thought process on it then cuz it this the first time I've heard it looks
34:47 like the pack adds about $100 to the card versus if you were able to just buy
34:50 it Standalone but then what's the discounts on the other stuff the disc
34:54 you pay an extra $100 and you get a
34:57 discount on other stuff but what's the discount cuz if I'm going to buy that
35:01 stuff anyways oh you get 100 bucks off a ryzen CPU and motherboard combo um you
35:04 get up to $200 off a free sync display so if I was going to buy a monitor and
35:08 that CPU and motherboard anyways then you're thrilled yeah but were you as an
35:13 Enthusiast I don't I don't know because the 64 version is only going to be
35:18 available at launch with bundles oh
35:23 really okay how does this bundles thing work or pack or whatever like what are
35:28 you actually buying when you buy the pack you just pay1 extra dollar and you get discount cards yes what you just get
35:34 like little paper from thinking it's a great idea to being super mad like like
35:39 that it's amazing you just get like little paper discount cards or like in
35:43 an email or something digital
35:46 yeah and presumably based on how promos
35:49 like this typically worked at the retailer I used to work at you'd
35:52 probably have to use it like right
35:56 away okay so now what do you think that's just
36:01 weird so the r as a consumer I would just wait until I don't have to do that
36:05 anymore okay can I explain the rationale though unless for some reason I did want
36:09 to buy that specific combination which might happen uh someone who's just now getting
36:14 into PC gaming I could totally see that as a thing okay so the rationale is that
36:19 they don't want coin miners to just snap them all
36:23 up and if I had to guess I would say
36:27 that this is AMD's way of punishing coin
36:31 miners just charging them more since the
36:34 value like the the the use secondhand value of the cards will be higher than
36:38 the freaking retail price AMD might as well take that money and those people
36:42 won't care about monitors or games or CPU motherboard bundles and so it's
36:48 their way of punishing Miners and giving an even better deal to
36:53 anyone building a new pc isn't that crashing though crashing like miners
36:58 aren't buying as many cards right now that's I I'm not sure to be perfectly
37:02 honest with you I don't know where the whole mining scene is at um what it's on
37:07 the up it's on the up again again yeah
37:11 all right well apparently mining is back so so so that's question away for like a
37:14 week or two and new
37:18 CS really really good okay so now that
37:22 you know that now what do you think I I
37:27 it's just weird as a consu as as someone who's buying a new computer I would look
37:32 at that and be like especially someone who's not into Mining and has no idea
37:35 what it is I would look at this setup and just be like
37:39 what the hell is going
37:42 on and that's like the majority of the people that are going to be looking at
37:46 this just to be completely honest right the majority of the people that are looking at this are going to go
37:50 mining what or like I heard my friend
37:54 talking about that why do I care I just want to buy graph I just don't get it cuz like my kids don't have graphics
37:58 cards so why do miners need all these graphics cards
38:03 wow wow all right that's like pretty high up
38:07 there for bad in other news tape storage
38:11 yeah the media that just keeps on T um
38:15 this was posted on the Forum by WM groom AK the original article here is from RS
38:21 Technica IBM and Sony have figured out how to cram 330 tab into a tiny tape
38:29 cartridge sputtered magnetic layer lubricant and new heads enable 200 gabit
38:35 per second oh excuse me per inch density
38:39 yeah per second I was like Whoa man yeah that' be some fast tape yo um so this is
38:46 um yeah in a so this would be 330 tabt in a palm-sized cartridge the world's
38:51 largest largest hard drives by contrast which are about twice the physical size
38:55 of the tape are the 6 60 terb seate SSD
38:59 or 12 tbte Hitachi helium filed hard
39:03 drive pretty cool um the largest
39:06 commercially available tapes Only Store about 15
39:09 terab so uh when it's eventually commercialized these new cartridges will
39:13 be significantly more expensive because of the tape's complex manufacturing
39:17 process likewise a new tape drive will be required but we'd only need like two
39:22 to back up our entire paby project yeah
39:25 cuz there's some redundancy it's not actually a cabit of um addressable space
39:29 yeah all right this is kind of a bummer this is posted by Morgan
39:34 MLG um coffee lake so that's Intel's
39:38 upcoming rumored to be up to six core
39:41 mainstream processors will apparently
39:45 not not
39:48 work m m mute mute mute uh yeah got this
39:52 will not work with z270
39:56 yeah done D mind you this shouldn't be a surprise
40:00 to anyone who's been following Intel's um processor motherboard Cadence over
40:06 the last few years because z170 and z270
40:11 same socket okay the chips that work in
40:14 either work in both as long as there's BIOS compatibility it's usually two gens
40:18 and it's usually two gens on the mainstream so and there was probably a
40:22 significant reworking that was required in order to put a six core on the
40:26 mainstream it's interesting though that right now it's not possible for people
40:32 during the biggest war Intel has had in
40:35 a while because they haven't had a war in a while um that both sides would have
40:41 to upgrade their whole platform because right now if you if
40:46 this happened a year ago you wouldn't have had to upgrade your platform right
40:51 Intel fans would have been able to buy the new chip just buy the new six core
40:55 and that would have been the excuse I don't want to move to the other side because I'm just going to buy a chip not
40:59 a whole chip and motherboard combo it's going to be way cheaper for me there's
41:02 no way it's financially viable for me to invest in a whole platform now it's
41:05 whole platform versus whole platform
41:09 so normal Cadence or not I think it
41:13 helps AMD a lot that that's happening rumor though this won't help AMD if it's
41:17 true by friendly non- murdering sort on the
41:21 Forum that's kind of a that's kind of a cool name uh the original article here
41:26 is from Guru 3D there's a rumored core
41:30 I3 8300 with four cores and eight
41:35 threads which would make it basically equivalent to like a 6700k cuz it's
41:40 apparently clocked at like 4 GHz I don't know if this is just someone
41:44 messing around with like Windows registry nonsense to get this to show up
41:49 but it it it doesn't look like it because there are also um here what's uh
41:56 oh wait no yeah it's all it's all Windows capture so I'm not aware
42:01 personally of a way to do that like off the top of my head but it seems like something could beit it like
42:06 disgustingly easily but yeah this is according to screenshots on a Chinese
42:09 Forum I find this very hard to believe
42:12 and I would think it's more likely for it to be some weird apparently yes it's
42:16 fake yeah yeah I uh that's like super
42:20 low res it's pretty crap um but there
42:23 you go there's a rumor uh oh we got featured on on RS
42:28 Technica RS Technica which was pretty sick so I just want to self-
42:31 congratulate over that um neat and they
42:35 wrote up a little kind of like write up thing essentially a summary yep Jake
42:39 thinks that we should have a written site to accompany our videos I disagree
42:43 I think we went down that path Y and then we're like wow wow this is hard and
42:47 there's no money in it yeah um we discovered fortunately before we
42:51 invested our whole livelihood in print
42:55 online written we sites yeah that that's
42:58 a bad idea um what else we got okay I'm
43:03 going to I'm yeah I got one more topic for you okay okay so let me Pitch it to
43:07 you let me Pitch it to you while while okay let me Pitch it to you while I um
43:12 while I go through the float plan stuff you can think about it okay so this is a
43:16 new segment that I'm going to call what's
43:20 worse so I know I've already read it I know I
43:24 know but I got I gotta hold on hold on okay
43:27 so this kind of thing happens especially to some people but what's worse dropping
43:33 your phone in a public toilet that's
43:36 empty or in your own toilet after you
43:40 peed in
43:43 it okay now hold on in other news we
43:46 have some exclusive content over on Floatplane that you guys will want to
43:50 watch yes Techquickie what's the difference between parallel and serial
43:55 the fastest ultrawide gaming monitor but
43:58 at what cost we can see thumbnails too w
44:03 wow that is a cancerous thumbnail look at it go um there's exclusive content
44:08 mezzanine update number 12 almost there
44:11 Techquickie wire PC video game ports so
44:15 bad so bad the worst um LT the brightest
44:20 monitor we've ever seen Dell's HDR
44:23 display AMD let me build their new ad
44:26 Vega super computer which they actually
44:29 did uh what else we got more exclusive
44:33 stuff LTX behind the scenes Vlog before the show opened a lot of comments on
44:37 that um what else we got here I think I
44:42 think this one's live already I'm not sure July 28th no h why is Hotel Wi-Fi
44:45 so slow that's a pretty good Techquickie Pippin Apple's only ever made
44:50 console is still not on YouTube yeah that's still not on YouTube so we did a
44:53 reaction to Apple's forgotten game console one of our longer videos mhm
44:58 yeah actually it's really long 16 or 17 minutes long and it's one of the rare uh
45:02 actually featuring Luke videos these days yeah and I think there's one more
45:06 that I'm missing cuz uh there's been a lot of simultaneous releases lately cuz
45:10 all the rise and Threadripper and all the VGA and all that kind of stuff so
45:15 yeah uh I think what goes up I think there's some good stuff going up this
45:19 weekend we're going to have our unboxing from LTX of the Razer toaster okay so if
45:24 you guys aren't uh subscribed to float playing already then uh I'll go ahead
45:29 and copy that link into the video description for you because it's pretty
45:33 sick Early Access better streaming video quality and of course it helps us keep
45:38 this whole show going around here so uh thank you in
45:42 advance um okay so so I don't think it's
45:46 that simple okay of a question okay so
45:50 do you need some clarification yes okay so the public toilet doesn't have any
45:56 obvious like buildup in it okay but it's
46:00 a public toilet and you weren't what's
46:03 again this is another thing though what's the water level because a lot of
46:06 home toilets have a very high water level and a lot of public toilets have a
46:10 very low water level the phone is submerged Sub in either case yeah the
46:15 phone submerge you got to put your you got to go you got to go above the wrist
46:18 bone deep in either
46:22 one it's an interesting question I think
46:26 from from reading the twitch chat it
46:29 seems like most people I could be totally wrong but when I looked at it it
46:34 seemed like most people were saying good straw pole good idea seemed like most
46:38 people were saying public toilet really because it's
46:43 clean actually I actually disagree
46:47 exactly and my big thing for it
46:51 is very narrow amount of sources of
46:54 bacteria and other junk
46:57 compared to extremely wide range amount of sources of other bacteria interesting
47:02 so you're going full science on your answer here not just like oh I'm more
47:06 comfortable with my own pee and my family's pee yeah versus like a lot of
47:11 my own pee versus Trace Amounts of
47:14 somebody else's P Trace Amounts of a huge mix of other people's stuff and
47:19 more aggressive more uh resilient bacterias might still be in there for
47:24 sure mhm but that could also be people saying of your own toilet
47:30 agreed but it's still me it's stuff that
47:33 went through me it's stuff that's like around me and it's just going to go on my hand y y it's probably okay okay and
47:39 I would do I would do the trick where you flush it first and then you grab it
47:44 and I would probably grab like a bunch of toilet paper and then grab it well no
47:47 no for the sake of argument you can't go get a rubber glove like you have to
47:52 toilet paper is literally right there you don't have like you don't have a
47:56 waterproof phone you have a pixel okay yeah you got to get in there and get it
48:01 fast yeah I'd probably flush it flushing
48:04 happens really quickly yeah but flushing also circulates the water there's a
48:08 worse chance of it penetrating a membrane or getting de into pixel so
48:12 it's screwed because they use cloth Liners in their like speakers and stuff
48:16 instead of metal like most phones did you know about that no there's people
48:20 that have like reached into here to try to clean out their like speaker Grill
48:23 thing and torn it oh that's a shame
48:27 yeah it's it's kind of a mess all right well we've got the results we've got the result I'm really excited for the pixel
48:31 2 am I doing that review I have no idea I'm
48:36 down most of you prefer what if you flush your phone
48:41 down whoa no you can't do that how big
48:46 is or how tiny is your
48:49 phone I'm very surprised all right well
48:54 what what do you think it's your question
49:00 I'm I'm going I'm going home toilet I'm going P home toilet why though um for me
49:07 it's a purely emotional thing I don't have a scientific basis for you want to touch other people's stuff I just I I
49:12 find other people's stuff so remember I'm coming at this as a
49:15 parent part of my daily life is touching other people's pee and poo yeah so like
49:21 my comfort level with that over the last 5 years has gotten a lot higher but like
49:26 with your own crew but that's like with my kids yeah whereas someone else I'm
49:32 just like oh man that's yeah and like I
49:36 at least know what the cleaning schedule of my own toilets is whereas like
49:39 someone else's it could look clean but like might be clean just cuz like a lot
49:44 of people been going through there and they take the stuff away yeah like I
49:48 don't know man so so that's where I'm at on that that's where I'm out on that
49:51 yeah all right well thank you guys very much for tuning in we will see you again
49:55 next week same Time same
49:59 no oh right on but on Friday at the
50:02 proper time on the proper Channel this is the proper Channel yeah okay bye bye
50:08 oh right the intro
50:11 outro are you surprised by the results of that a little actually I thought
50:16 people would prefer not to put their hand in pea
50:24 water someone said it's Friday I guess maybe somewhere Friday Friday got to get
50:30 down on Friday something something something for the weekend weekend Friday
50:36 Friday
