6:52 something leaned against it in my pocket it was cracked like I looked at it suddenly I was like how is this cracked

6:58 um and it is an issue that other people have had with the phone so I tried to go

7:01 through the r process as a normal customer and they ended up rejecting me

7:06 they ended up saying that it wasn't covered they wanted to charge me a bunch

7:09 of money I ended up having to go through my press contact in order to get that

7:12 taken care of so is not cool which is not that cool so for me to see HTC

7:18 stepping up their warranty game is a good on them for improving something

7:23 that I didn't have a great experience with them with in the past and B this is

7:28 great for putting pressure on the other guys because a lot of the time products

7:32 that have a lot of margin have a lot of

7:36 margin because they expect a lot of they

7:39 expect a lot of returns or a lot of waste like you know why is it that they

7:43 can afford if someone in like if your kid in McDonald's drops their ice cream

7:47 cone on the floor like the second you hand it to them does McDonald's make you

7:51 buy a new one no no no man they give you

7:54 they give you a new one and if you have a lot of margin you can afford to do

7:57 that kind of thing and Flagship phones are getting to the point where compared

8:01 to entrylevel phones they've got a lot of margin and from time to time they can

8:06 probably afford to repair that refurbish it do something with it and then get you

8:11 a new one so pretty cool it's only within the first 12 months after you buy

8:16 it and this is cool they get you the new one overnight as long as you're willing

8:21 to pre-authorize 300 bucks on your credit card just to prevent fraud to

10:48 expecting it to be close to 70% faster

10:52 than the R9 290x this is extremely good

10:55 news for AMD based on that we've seen the performance of the G GTX Titan X

11:00 NVIDIA has tipped their hand effectively and the GTX Titan X is fast but it's not

11:07 going to be the same kind of butt-kicking difference in performance

11:12 that we have seen in the past this is looking like something that could be an

11:17 extremely close race and rumored pricing

11:20 that I've seen for the 390x at least the

11:23 rumored air cooled one there's actually another rumor that there's going to be

11:27 both an air cooled version and a more extreme clock liquid cooled version but

11:31 the rumor is that the air cooled version will be significantly less expensive

11:36 than the GTX Titan X it's not too surprising and you know the thing about

11:39 the GTX Titan X is that you say the same

11:43 letter twice and it drives me insane oh no that too GTX Titan X they're kind of

11:48 run out of cool letters what's the next one going to be like the Titan J GTX

11:52 powered Zed Edition 24 no cuz they already have a zed they have a Titan Zed

11:56 so they got Zed and X powered Z are there any other cool letters they got

12:00 they got to start doing more ti ti but they have TI they got to come up with

12:04 something no they they can roll them together Titan X TI yeah yeah and they

12:09 just put big wheels on it all right so the thing about the Titan X that no one

12:13 really seems to be talking about is the way that NVIDIA kind of kind of

12:19 gradually sort of did this uh did this

12:24 thing where the original Titan the justification for the thousand

12:29 gaming card talking about how this card should realistically be the 980 um no no

12:33 that's a whole other discussion so the GTX Titan the original justification for

12:39 that unprecedented 9.99 price point I

12:42 shouldn't say completely unprecedented because the 8800 Ultra was right up

12:45 around that Mark I think it was around $900 but that was like uh that was like

12:49 a like a that was more of a bin of a card that was available at a lower price

12:54 whereas Titan and Titan X have been the only card available with that tier of

12:59 GPU at their launch and it took ages for

13:02 the 780 Ti to come out last time around so so Titan the way they Justified this

13:07 thousand graphics card was oh yeah we've got like all these like Glam shots and

13:12 like you know we've got this like green logo on the top of it and it looks all

13:15 gamery but no no this is like a Cuda developer card and like it's for like

13:20 rendering and stuff cuz it's got you know full double Precision performance

13:25 remember that was a big pitch Titan Titan okay Titan X I was like hold up

13:30 Titan X has no such thing so in the two years in between these cards NVIDIA has

13:35 gone from feeling like they have to justify a $1,000 gaming card to feeling

13:40 like $1,000 gaming card is just okay and

13:43 that's just well that's our top end gaming card now so it's really

13:47 interesting to see that and I'll be I'll be equally interested to see if AMD

13:50 follows suit or if they go right for the Titan X's jugular and release 390x

13:56 significantly cheaper with similar performance now

13:59 with that said Titan X runs hot but 390x

14:03 I will be floored Apparently one of us

14:06 is hitting the table fairly frequently I think it's me I will be

14:10 floored if the if the uh sorry if the

14:15 390x is more uh uses up less power than

14:19 the 290x so Titan X might still come

14:22 ahead in terms of performance per watt

14:26 but raw performance- wise we could be looking at a close race and people care

14:30 more about raw performance and gsync was

14:34 a big feature that could have sold me an NVIDIA card over an AMD card up until

14:38 very recently and free sync is now here with that said my only experience with

14:43 free sync so far hasn't been great did I tell you about it no okay uh is the

14:48 Embargo up no I think so I think other people's reviews are up yeah yeah yeah

14:52 the I saw the PC for review so I have a 3467 that's LG's 2560 by 10 80 ultrawide

15:00 free sync Monitor and the issue with it is that its free sync um variable

15:06 refresh rate window is only from 48 Herz

15:09 to 75 Hertz so it only has like what

15:14 what is that like a 27 htz window a 27

15:19 htz window where it both prevents tearing and doesn't stutter and and and

15:24 the refresh rate varies so if you fall below that you're going to see the same

15:29 the same stutter nonsense that like the same choppiness that you'd see without

15:33 variable refresh rate and falling below 48 frames per second is the kind of

15:39 thing that happens even in a game where you're averaging like 60 FPS when

15:43 something intensive happens and those are the times when you really feel that

15:46 stutter anyway so the effectiveness for me was not very good and then the

15:51 Topline performance so if you were going to say okay well then I'll just have my

15:54 game Target like I'm going to run like way over 48 FPS so I never dip your top

15:59 line is 75 htz so you're just kind of like like like

16:04 what the the pitch with g-sync was that you can use more conservative settings

16:08 and still get a a playable smooth gameplay experience that's not the

16:12 experience I had with that monitor with that said I hopefully I haven't heard

16:16 100% back from AMD yet but I hopefully have another freesync monitor coming

16:20 soon that has a 40 HZ to 144 HZ window

16:24 where I'll be able to much more comfortably game within that window now

16:27 the cool thing about free sync is that it does support vsync on and

16:33 vsync off so you can actually choose if

16:36 your frame rate goes above the maximum refresh rate of your monitor you can get

16:40 that extra or that that that slight reduction in input latency that you get

16:44 from higher frame rates um but you'll have to deal with

16:48 tearing once we get really good examples of both sides it would be an interesting

16:53 thing to do like I know you're doing your like single one comparison whatnot

16:57 but a side by side comparison I would love to I think that would be awesome I

17:01 think something like Ben Q's freesync monitor the 40244 versus the r Swift

17:06 would be a perfect example there you go that' be really cool we got to do something like that maybe when you're

17:09 back we do have a couple more things about 390x but yeah we should do that

17:12 when I'm back I think we'll have both by then okay um so couple things uh blah

17:17 blah blah oh yeah it's apparently going to have a 496 bit wide HPM memory bus

17:24 with up to 8 gigs of RAM clocked at 1.25

17:28 GHz so we are talking way more memory bandwidth than

17:33 GTX Titan X completely new memory technology and AMD claims it will be uh

17:40 it claims single Precision floating Point performance figure of 8.6 Tera

17:44 flops the thing looks like an absolute Beast the bad news is that AMD isn't

17:49 rumored to have anything else to flesh out their lineup and the rumor that the

17:53 last rumor I heard is that a lot of the other 300 series cards are going to be

17:57 Reb Badges of existing 200 series

18:00 cards so there's that at least they've got something and the the one at the top

18:05 end kind of often I'll see I don't know how true this is anymore but at least

18:09 back in the day when I was getting people to try to get into computers I'd

18:12 see people find and like this is why it's very unsurprising that our videos

18:15 on crazy Titan cards get a whole bunch of views people will find like oh that's

18:20 the super awesome card that I want now I'll go as similar as I can but in my

18:25 price range yep so if they make the 390x that kicks freaking but they might still

18:29 sell more AMD cards regardless well there's so much stuff that's like that

18:32 whether it's motorcycles or cars or or

18:36 almost anything it's it's a brand image right like uh for example the the house

18:39 we're in right now is um a morning star

18:43 or something like that like it's a reputable Builder and uh when we were

18:47 buying it like that was a selling point it's a Morning Star Home the inspection

18:51 that we had done because we're not idiots and we get inspections done um

18:56 the inspection that we had done actually revealed a ton of problems with it um

19:01 most of which obviously weren't a big enough issue for us to to not go ahead

19:04 and and you know be here filming videos all the time but reveal a bunch of

19:09 problems with it because that's the thing is a brand is just a brand that

19:12 actually has nothing to do with how good that individual product is you should

19:16 rate it on a product by product but that is how so many people buy and even

19:20 yourself even knowing better have you ever done it yeah I have I've done it

19:24 I'll walk into Home Depot I'll be like oh I've heard Bosch is good I own I own

19:28 a bunch of husky products so I'll like I had to buy I had to buy a hammer and a

19:33 level the other day cuz I've always used my dad's and I don't live at home

19:36 anymore so it was like oh buying tools sucks hey okay it does but it's fun it

19:41 does and like I I've been borrowing stuff and I'm trying to like return it

21:56 rest assured that they will get an upgrade to Windows 10 with that said I

22:00 don't think Pirates were generally concerned about getting an upgrade from

22:03 Microsoft to Windows 10 anyway so I don't really I I don't really see the

22:10 my theorizing brain yeah that they are going to do more limiting on Windows 10

22:15 for people that have non- genuine licenses and what I think they're trying

22:18 to do is get people off of the earlier ones where there's essentially no

22:23 limiting other than like making your desktop backgr it down and then crack

22:26 down on people so trying to get people the voluntarily upgrade so that they can

22:31 crack down on them yeah I think that's what's happening I don't know that it

22:36 would make sense to me I don't know

22:39 we're going to have a lot of machines to upgrade to Windows 10 cuz we didn't go

22:43 Windows 8 on a lot of our computers like we got a lot of people commenting oh you
