0:00 I never really understood why anyone would need a computer smaller thinner or
0:04 lighter than a razor blade and then I I
0:08 got a small procedure to ensure that I wouldn't have any more children and the
0:12 doc was all like yo dog you can't lift
0:15 anything for a bit so I was all like well hey how about this Spectre X 360
0:20 2017 2 in1 from HP and then he was like
0:24 okay that looks pretty light
0:35 tunnel bear is the simple VPN app that makes it easy to browse privately and
0:40 enjoy a more open internet to try tunnel bear for free check out the link in the
0:44 video description some notebooks even
0:47 ones that I like manage to use premium materials and solid internal hardware
0:53 and still feel like a compromise because
0:56 at some point a designer figured that that extra millimeter or that cool
1:02 looking hidden hinge was worth whatever we were sacrificing not the Spectre X360
1:09 2017 I've rarely seen such a marriage of
1:13 beautiful design and pragmatism the
1:16 machined aluminum chassis is light enough to keep the entire device under 3
1:21 lb and 14 mm thick but both the base and
1:25 the display hold up shockingly well to my twist test with battery life coming
1:31 in well over 4 hours in my usual PC Mark
1:34 work test a very strong result and the
1:37 core i7 7500u dual core could be cooled
1:42 passively but instead we get ventilation intakes along the bottom and a side
1:47 exhaust that stayed practically silent under light workloads while still
1:52 allowing the processor to stretch its legs to 3.1 GHz under heavy
1:58 multi-threaded loads since we're under the hood the rest of the hardware specs
2:02 are what what are they exactly well mine
2:07 has a 256 gig NVMe SSD 8 gigs of RAM
2:12 onboard graphics and a 72% color gamut
2:16 whatever that means 1080p multi-touch
2:19 IPS display that I would describe as pretty good but the product page for
2:24 this thing tries to be everything to everyone and just ends up being really
2:30 confusing there's talk of optional 4K displays optional microedge displays
2:36 dual or quad speakers why does the
2:39 bigger model have only two speakers is that better and then in that case why is
2:44 four speakers a a selling point that's even got a sales pitch for NVIDIA
2:49 graphics cards with a blurb under it explaining that the 13.3 in is only
2:54 available with Intel Iris plus onboard graphics and they manag to get all of
3:00 that stuff on there without mentioning
3:03 the outstanding mix of IO on the left is
3:07 a typea USB 3 port a 3 1 12 mm combo
3:11 Jack and a power button that's easy to reach in laptop tablet or anything in
3:16 between mode and on the right we've got volume control in the Frack Thunderbolt
3:22 3 how did two Thunderbolt 3 ports not
3:27 make it into the marketing materials I had to confirm for myself by hooking up
3:31 to a razor core that they are actually Thunderbolt 3 and not just fast charging
3:37 type c ports with a confusing graphic on them and they are it worked completely
3:43 seamlessly out of the box with the core and managed to handle an allight gaming
3:48 stress test in Rise of the Tomb Raider
3:51 flawlessly and there's more good news some may object to the thicker top and
3:56 bottom bezels but this is that function
4:00 merged with form thing again the top is
4:03 thick because it rocks a decent 1080p webcam with wait for it IR emitters for
4:10 Windows hello my favorite feature ever
4:13 and the antennas for the 2x two Wii that
4:16 performs admirably and the bottom is to
4:20 lift the display off the desk a little bit meaning less next strain and give a
4:25 little more depth to the product for the bang and Olson speakers that are and you
4:30 can quote me on this the best I've heard yet on a thin and light I'm not sure how
4:35 they did it but they sound great the
4:38 keyboard and trackpad are a couple of mixed bags for me though the feel of
4:42 both is outstanding thanks to nice long travel distances with satisfying tactile
4:48 feedback on the keys and the glass top for the trackpad but there are some
4:53 design choices that I disagree with here the widescreen aspect ratio of the
4:58 trackpad is great and both the tracking acceleration algorithm and palm
5:02 rejection are topnotch but the click pad
5:06 has a very inconsistent feel from the top to the bottom that's hard to forgive
5:11 now that Apple Force touch exists as for
5:14 the keyboard it's off center seemingly
5:18 to make room for dedicated keys for functions that I prefer to have combined
5:22 with function arrows anyway and this
5:25 misalignment forces your shoulders or your neck out of what back which is kind
5:30 of a bummer because aside from that and
5:33 the couple of QC issues with my sample
5:36 listen to this it's one of my favorite laptop
5:41 keyboards to date so conclusion time then at the price this kind of build
5:47 quality would have been Unthinkable a
5:50 couple of years ago the Spectre X360 2017 proves that two and ones are all
5:57 growed up now and you can get a he hell
6:00 of an ultra portable computer starting at 900
