so we got here today a Lenovo yeah I should have checked with
0:14
more so we have a Lenovo Idea pad S10
0:17
here which is supposed to be the next big thing in subnotebooks so we are
0:22
going to open it up it features an Intel Atom Processor 512 Megs of RAM 80 gig
0:29
magnetic hard drive Windows XP a 10.2 in
0:33
LCD display and it comes in a box that is
0:40
rated for
0:44
2.55 no 25.5 pounds per inch of edge Crush so
0:50
that's very very impressive Lenovo thank
0:54
you inside we will find the Lenovo S10
0:58
subnotebook we find a wow that is a thick thick
1:04
instruction manual it's like really thick it's awesome see this
1:10
is what happens when I don't prep at all for things so then we've got our
1:14
accessory box which I'm going to assume has yes the power
1:20
adapter and a battery so not much in the way of accessories come with the S10 but
1:25
stay tuned we're going to open this baby up and have a
1:28
look so first impressions is it is a little bit on the heavier side for a
1:33
subnotebook including the three cell battery but it's also a little bit
1:36
bigger than most of the subn notes out there so we're going to take off the
1:41
plastic covering here which is um held
1:44
on by masking tape very classy and we're going to take off the little protective
1:49
plastic cover on the Lenovo logo which is very shiny and very nice the finish
1:54
on this is kind of a a matte black uh looks like it's going to be a bit of a
1:58
fingerprint magnet but again that would be a common theme for all of the
2:02
oh this is nice the inside has H kind of a
2:08
traditional IBM matte black finish to
2:11
the Keys and to the whole interior of the unit which has a bit of a sparkle to
2:16
it actually and we're going to take the screen protector off
2:21
here that is a very classy looking little subnote so there's actually
2:25
little chromed accents around the webcam as well as on the power button I'm in
2:30
and have a close look at this keyboard this is one of the better subnote
2:34
keyboards we've seen yet and I'm just
2:38
going to test it out really briefly here okay the one complaint right off the bat
2:42
first let me say it is not a multilingual keyboard so if you want an
2:46
englishon keyboard this will do it for you however in my opinion the shift key
2:52
on this side should be a little bit closer to the home row instead of having
2:56
an up Arrow there the left shift is quite comfortable and most of the other
3:01
keys are within comfortable reach including the enter key and the
3:04
backspace as well as tab caps lock anything else that you're going to
3:12
need so on the right side of the notebook we've got Express card
3:16
headphones microphone USB and Lan with a
3:20
Kensington lock and then on the other side of the
3:23
notebook we've got a DC in so that's for
3:27
your uh your wall adapter then you've got a VGA out an SD card and one more
3:32
USB port so the S10 does have one fewer
3:36
USB port than most of the other subnotebooks that I've seen it does have
3:40
some other advantages as well though such as the bottom plate from here you
3:45
can see that you can easily access both the RAM and the hard drive just by
3:49
taking out two screws it's much more user friendly than some of the other
3:52
subnotebooks out there and it'll make user upgrades theoretically a breeze
3:58
although it's not likely to win any prize for the best value or necessarily
4:01
even the best feature set the S10 is great for if you have a little bit more
4:06
money for your subnotebook and you want to look absolutely fabulous while you're
4:09
using it the style and the form is
4:13
unprecedented for the Lenovo S10 uh also
4:16
if you have any suggestions for future products or any topics you want to see
4:20
