0:00 welcome to my unboxing and first look at netgear's ready for home so this
0:07 particular one doesn't come with any discs it does have a three-year warranty
0:11 it's not a business grade product so as far as the hardware spec goes it's got a
0:15 gigabit Network Port but it's got uh 256
0:20 Megs of RAM and then a single core Melville Melville melel Marvel processor
0:26 so I wouldn't expect to be getting like huge you know 100 megabyte second
0:30 transfer speeds or anything like that but honestly it's probably not what you
0:34 need for a home networking device so what does n Gear think you should use
0:38 this for home use storage use I mean
0:41 this is all these are all sort of Fairly self-explanatory things if you guys know
0:45 what a Naas is then you know it's probably good this is the biggest bag of
0:49 do not eat that I think I've ever seen in a box it's huge like look I don't
0:54 like you probably couldn't eat it if you wanted to
1:01 all right moving along to the nas itself um so yeah supports a single drive
1:06 failure pretty much any 2bay Naas as long as it supports raid one should be
1:10 able to support a single drive failure so that is fairly self-explanatory I
1:15 love the way Netgear stuff is built like it's like steel Drive cages I've seen
1:19 nasas that have like plastic cheesy ones
1:22 it actually feels like you know an appliance and it's I think part of it is
1:26 because Netgear does manufacture prograde stuff so it's actually probably
1:30 more expensive for them to retool a cheaper cheaper alternative um solution
1:35 than to just use stuff an existing design they have that's very rugged and
1:40 robust and just give it to the general consumer as well so uh that I appreciate
1:45 mounting wise you unfortunately don't get the benefit of toolless mounting
1:48 because that's not really how prograde stuff works but I I mean how often are
1:53 you really going to be changing the drive in a 2bay NZ unless it dies you
1:57 probably aren't going to be doing any of that
2:00 um it's kind of nice looking actually it looks again it looks very prograde so
2:04 this is the duo V2 it has a USB port on the front it has a on touch backup as
2:08 well as power you've got an activity LED as well as drive indicator LEDs for both
2:13 sides the most of the intake is at the front but there's going to be some air
2:17 intake on the side here as well as on the side here and all of that is going
2:21 to be have air drawn through it with a 92mm fan this is one of the bigger fans
2:25 that I've seen on a 2bay Nas cuz they filled up the almost the entire back of
2:29 the unit with the cooling fan so this is great because it's going to make it
2:33 quieter and it's also going to make sure that your drives aren't going to suffer
2:36 from any excess heat which can cause failures over time it has a Kensington
2:40 lock as well as a hard reset button two USB 3.0 ports on the back this is a nice
2:45 feature as well because it allows you to expand the storage Beyond just those
2:49 internal ports or do things like back your Nas up to something else and then
2:53 store it off site gigabit Lan DC power
2:56 in and let's see what else net gear
2:59 thinks is important about this so they're they're marketing sort of a Naas
3:03 as a private cloud and that really is kind of what it is it's a way to store
3:07 all of your stuff in one place do continuous backups on your machines have
3:12 uh well okay automatic expansion I think is sort of iffy because on a 2bay Nas
3:17 there's not much you can do to automatically expand it other than like
3:20 add more USB but there you go um what's cool is they do have a a mobile app so
3:25 you can remotely access your files as well as mobile access them and they do
3:29 have a private HD photo sharing site so I mean h calling something an HD photo
3:32 is sort of redundant but having a photo sharing site other than Facebook is
3:37 important to people and not everyone's techsavvy enough to set up like their
3:41 own like web server and you know set up
3:45 the authentication that would go into that so something like this where it's more of an appliance type option uh
3:50 could be very convenient and then of course these are the kinds of things that you do have to explain to people
3:54 who don't know that there's something outside of cloud storage you there are
3:58 no hosting fees there are no overage charges there's no actual limitation
4:02 other than buying bigger drives if you
4:05 want more storage or adding more nazes thanks for checking out this unboxing of
4:08 the ready Nas Duo V2 don't forget to subscribe plan is techtips for more unboxings reviews and other computer
4:13 videos I just realized I never showed you guys what's in this brown box I mean
4:17 I probably could have guessed an Ethernet cable hard drive mounting
4:23 screws and a power adapter same things
4:26 that are included with every Nas um and
4:29 then there's also their resource CD which you can of course download off the
4:33 Netgear website and their little quick start guide
