0:00 it's tech news time which as you guys know means it's time to throw riley's
0:05 intro in a dumpster come on and talk about the news
0:09 5g networks every tech company and their grandma is
0:13 working on it right now to help you get faster data speeds on your phone in fact
0:19 ericsson and Intel just hit a milestone in 5g development with a bi-directional
0:24 data call in sweden but samsung nokia and spanish cell
0:29 carrier telefonica don't want to wait these three companies have worked
0:33 together on what they call 4.9 g reaching speeds of one gigabit per
0:39 second on existing lte infrastructure in
0:44 segovia spain using a galaxy s9 the
0:49 speeds were enabled by nokia air scale base stations and the lte advanced pro
0:54 tech that is already present in the s9 and the s9 plus now with all of that
0:59 said once 5g is rolled out speeds of up to 5 gigabits per second should
1:05 eventually be possible along with much lower latency so i mean i applaud 4g for
1:11 putting up the good fight but eventually we're gonna have to take it back behind
1:15 the warehouse and give it the old
1:18 you wrote it historically when chinese tech companies
1:22 copied a western design it was an unofficial knockoff but AMD has actually
1:28 been working with chinese holding company fatic
1:33 t-h-a-t-i-c to produce diana cpus
1:38 in china based on AMD's zen architecture
1:41 and specifically the epic line but since
1:45 the us government has blocked direct moves by some u.s companies to
1:49 collaborate with chinese ones including
1:53 blocking Intel from selling xeon processors in china AMD had to
1:58 duck and you know weave a little bit so fatick created two companies hmc and
2:05 haigon AMD owns 30 of higon and 51 of hmc which
2:11 owns the intellectual property for the chips and then that's all kosher since AMD
2:17 still technically has majority ownership of hmc it licenses that ip to hygon
2:23 which designs the chips and sells them back to hmc for production the chips are
2:28 then sent back to be sold under the hygon name which
2:33 dang it AMD you guys are sneaky
2:36 anyway all of this maneuvering should lift AMD's bottom line with extra
2:41 revenue from china heck they've got some to spare what heck heck no heck no
2:47 heck no microsoft surface andromeda folding phone tablet thing probably
2:53 won't be hitting shelves anytime soon after a river of leaks and rumors a
2:59 river of leaks that's right it fell apart with the rumors bit though good try uh pointed to a dual screen Windows
3:04 powered handheld device coming this year multiple sources are claiming that
3:09 andromeda is dead in the water hey good
3:13 one the parts of Windows 10 that would have enabled the smaller dual screen
3:17 experience reportedly are not ready for prime time and a recent staff shake-up
3:21 has meant that the plans have gone back to the drawing board that
3:25 hasn't stopped some loyal fans though who have started a petition on
3:29 change.org to convince microsoft to release the device whatever it is at the
3:35 time of writing the petition had over 11
3:38 600 highly optimistic signatures from
3:42 dedicated dual screen devotees so are
3:46 you guys interested in a device that may or may not um exist and probably won't
3:51 be exactly what you expected then get on down to our news sources below and sign
3:55 that for yourself it's time for extremely timely and tiny new cycles
4:01 summer brought to you by us come celebrate ourselves
4:06 in person and including you riley get on
4:10 he's gonna be there at ltx 2018 it's a
4:13 meetup and tech event coming up on july 14th that's in less than a week it's at
4:17 the richmond elevator kind of knowing it's way back there richmond olympic
4:21 oval here in beautiful british columbia and you can meet the Linus tech tips
4:24 team and participate in everything from a cable management challenge to a lan tournament to 12k actually it's 10k but
4:30 who's counting gaming and more but down below we're gonna have tickets
4:34 listed for just 35 bucks canadian so about the cost of a bubble gum in the
4:37 states and you can go buy them well at that link below on to the new sickles
4:42 microsoft may be killing the andromeda but it looks like they will be releasing
4:46 some sort of new surface device next week most likely a smaller tablet
4:51 powered by an Intel pentium processor that is if the leaks are anything to go
4:55 by oh and microsoft also posted a teaser so it's at least partially non-rumor at
5:00 this point some solid evidence has popped up that apple will release a
5:04 budget iphone 10 this fall casemaker ghost tech
5:09 revealed that it will never get early access to apple hardware ever again i'm
5:14 sorry excuse me they revealed some case designs for an iphone with an iphone 10
5:19 style notch and a single camera on the back instead of two
5:23 say what that's not an instant pre-order for me you don't know me very well
5:27 the world isn't ready for new Radeon
5:30 graphics cards a leaked product roadmap from asrock shows a number of new
5:35 versions of existing Radeon gpus that
5:38 are in the pipeline but with no new cards appearing until at least february
5:44 2019. so those rumors about polaris 30 coming
5:48 later this year probably bunk unless asrock is just getting a lesson and not
5:53 leaking road maps and AMD's just not telling them about it
5:57 probably didn't happen what is going to show up though is new whiskey lake Intel
6:02 mobile cpus to replace existing kb lake
6:05 r processors using the same 14 nanometer
6:08 plus plus process but with further optimizations to allow the chips to
6:12 turbo to up to 4.5 gigahertz i don't care how fast it is as long as it's 14
6:18 nanometer though well i don't know i think i care how fast it is i care how
6:22 fast it is you you shrink it jump in some cold water i'm tired
6:27 and jump in some more news a warframe
6:30 developer digital extremes are showing everyone else how it's done adding
6:35 multi-crew spaceship combat and hoverboards to their free-to-play game
6:40 and bringing it to the switch on top of that you see that bungie yeah that's
6:44 right take a look at destiny 2 and think about what you've done shame
6:48 and you guys take a look at this beautiful face one last time because
6:52 that's it for the news today like the video if you liked it dislike if you're
6:55 that kind of person subscribe for more tech news thrice a week
6:59 and in the meantime stay off the internet it's a dangerous place there's wizards
7:05 oh internet wizards that's more force lightning isn't it
7:09 yeah but dennis wouldn't know he's apparently never seen a star wars movie
