0:00 NVIDIA brought us down here to LA to check out something pretty freaking
0:03 interesting a GeForce GTX 980 now why is
0:06 that interesting we've had these for a while it's in a laptop and no it doesn't
0:10 have a little M denomination after
0:21 it so yes it is a full desktop GPU it
0:25 has 2048 cacor a base clock of 1126 a
0:28 boost clock of 1216 a memory clock of 6
0:31 GBS per second which you just don't see in laptops 4 GB of memory a 256bit
0:38 interface width and yeah it's seriously
0:41 a 980 in a laptop NVIDIA unsurprisingly
0:44 is binning specific 980 chips for this
0:47 because they need good well- bend 980s for this because it has to sit in the
0:51 laptop it has to fit within certain specifications also they're going to be
0:55 in laptops that have four to eight phase power supplies which is beast mode and
1:01 not something you're used to seeing on a laptop often you see two to three phase
1:04 power supplies not 4 to8 uh it has record braking performance on air which
1:09 is not very surprising but we'll see what people can do to it down the line
1:13 and they're going to be working with laptop manufacturers to have it so that
1:16 the CPU and the GPU are fully unlocked and overclocking ready they're also
1:21 working with those laptop manufacturers to pump more cooling options into these
1:25 units up to 50% more apparently in some use cases and that should help because
1:30 you'll be able to tweak fan speed profiles if you want to go really loud
1:33 and get more overclocking great if you want to be quieter and maybe get a
1:36 little bit less overclocking that's great as well in terms of overclocking
1:40 you'll be able to change core clock speeds and memory clock speeds like I
1:44 mentioned earlier but not power limit or voltage limit as it's a laptop and
1:48 messing with those things can be a little bit more dangerous than on a desktop where you will have more leeway
1:53 now they were serious about this and actually let me tinker and mess around
1:56 with some of the laptops which is pretty freaking cool I was able to bench Mark a
2:00 thinner kind of Gigabyte aorus laptop aoris X7 which was pretty badass and a
2:05 thicker Cleo on the other side so alongside of those I tested a normal
2:09 system which had a kind of generalized setup and a desktop 980 in it and we got
2:14 to see the performance numbers in things like fire strike extreme Tomb Raider
2:19 Shadow of Mordor and Metro last Light which was pretty impressive because they
2:23 claimed that there would be about a Delta of maybe 5% and in a lot of cases
2:28 it was less than that these system were really really close and that's even
2:32 considering other components in these laptops like CPU which you have to take
2:36 into the equation here so it's badass it's a full desktop GPU and a laptop and
2:41 it actually runs properly and it's overclockable on top of that impressive
2:46 but what else is there also to GeForce experience they are bringing VR
2:51 optimization so at the 950 we saw low latency optimization for stuff like
2:55 mobas and there's normal optimization which is more well-rounded and then
2:59 we're we're going to be seeing VR optimization which is pretty awesome so
3:03 the idea behind this is tweaking your settings is something that a lot of
3:06 people like doing and one of the reasons why someone may not actually use GeForce
3:10 experience others like it others don't but in VR I think that line is going to
3:15 blur a little bit more because tweaking settings is going to be very annoying
3:19 when you strap a screen to your face and then something's wrong you can get sick
3:23 or it can be pretty disturbing very quickly so knowing that everything's
3:27 just going to kind of work is a pretty big benefit
3:30 I'm excited are you excited let me know in the comments down below subscribe
3:33 share favorite all that kind of stuff buy a t-shirt cuz they're awesome use
3:37 our Amazon affiliate link to buy some stuff because it's cool thanks for
3:40 watching I'll see you guys next time
