0:07 welcome to the Dos keyboard This is the
0:10 ultimate s the Dos keyboard by metad do
0:14 comes in four different configurations at least at the time of filming this
0:18 video there is a clicky version and then
0:21 a less clicky version so if you guys are familiar with mechanical keyboards you
0:25 know what clicky is personally I'm a clicky guy not everyone is some people
0:28 have you know sleeping nearby or annoy co-workers nearby and they even if they
0:33 want a clicky keyboard they can't have one so there's that then they have the
0:39 professional and the ultimate edition this one right here is the clicky
0:44 Ultimate Edition keyboard and what makes
0:47 it ultimate well you guys will find out shortly because there are quite a few
0:52 things about this keyboard that I personally think make it ultimate um
0:57 that are not necessarily the reason for the name so it comes with a little
1:00 cleaning cloth that's not very ultimate don't worry about that uh it is fully
1:04 compatible with Windows Mac and Linux in fact you can even buy little uh key set
1:09 kits that will change your Windows Keys over to uh option keys if you want all
1:13 right moving right along let's see what metad do has to say for themselves on
1:18 the back of the key or on the back of the keyboard on the back of the box here
1:21 mechanical key switches for maximum speed and comfort this is true in fact
1:25 if you go to the Das Keyboard website they have a cool little typing test
1:28 where you can compete and race with people in real time and people are on
1:32 there all the time I actually wasted like 2 hours on it one night when I was
1:36 like oh this is neat so it just automatically starts a new race and
1:40 grabs whoever's like like on there and then you just race against each other
1:44 and it records your average words per minute and all that cool stuff so um I
1:48 tested that with a mechanical keyboard not one of these this is my first ass
1:52 keyboard although I've played with them before um I was testing a mechanical
1:56 keyboard versus a Logitech g15 so you know a good membrane keyboard and what I
2:03 found for myself was I was about 15% faster with a mechanical keyboard my
2:07 wife who has long pianist fingers was
2:10 about 20% faster on her mechanical keyboard which is not even a great
2:14 typing keyboard I'm not going to name any names but it was mechanical she
2:18 found she was about 20% faster than she was on a membran keyboard so yes it is
2:23 faster and it is more comfortable this is not open for debate uh uses the most
2:28 advanced German engineered gold plate and slightly KCK clicky mechanical key
2:31 switches available in the industry full End Key rollover means even if you type
2:35 with your face you won't accidentally press anything and it will register
2:38 every keystroke avoiding key jamming I think that was more of a problem on
2:42 typewriters however it is still valid on keyboards because it can you can run
2:47 into issues on poorly made and poorly designed keyboards with that great
2:51 multi-purpose keyboard for fast typists and Gamers alike and just general
2:54 elitists for this particular one and I'll explain why highspeed USB 2.0 Hub
2:58 very cool extra long cable got it okay got all that got all that
3:03 and that's what Daniel gr gr okay Daniel
3:08 if you type 8 hours a day it might be as well be on the best available keyboard I
3:11 initially created this UNC compromising keyboard for myself and now I'm excited
3:14 to share it with you what makes it
3:23 ultimate no way no key labels whatsoever so
3:31 unless you are Elite typist you cannot use this keyboard
3:36 that's right it has a built-in exclusion
3:41 of people who aren't as good at typing as you are factor built right into it no
3:46 one can sit down at your computer and use it unless they bring their own
3:50 keyboard awesome all right so build
3:54 quality yes most mechanical keyboards
3:58 because they are intended to be be sold at a higher price are built just plain
4:03 better than most membrane keyboards this has always been true no this is not a
4:07 model M however this is pretty much as good as it's going to get today uh in
4:13 terms of the layout okay so you can see we've got a pretty standard layout you
4:17 got your Escape key your function keys you've got your TIY your numbers your
4:21 backspace your enter your shift your other shift everything is correctly laid
4:26 out there's your Windows keys and there are no sort of extra things thrown in
4:31 you know short backspace short shift personally I find this to be the ideal
4:35 keyboard layout you've got a couple keys that are slightly different from the other ones there's your dots for your
4:39 home row so I mean you probably type without looking at your keyboard anyway
4:43 if you're getting one of these um but you know that'll help you find your home
4:48 row you've also got a dot in the middle on the five of the number pad so that
4:52 you will also be able to find your home position on the number pad itself now
4:57 why does it include a cleaning cloth because it does have a glossy surface so
5:00 not everyone's the biggest fan in the world of glossy but it does make it look quite nice you know what let me go find
5:04 a keycap remover and uh I will take off one of the caps and show you guys the
5:09 mechanical switches so we removed one of the key
5:12 caps actually one of the things I like about this keyboard versus one of the
5:15 other mechanical keyboards that I have is that the keys are a little bit
5:19 difficult to remove so uh uh one of the ones I have keys will actually pop off
5:24 while you're typing sometimes yeah that's on the uh the one my wife uses
5:29 sorry guys I'm just talking to Slick um so yeah that's sort of inconvenient in
5:33 fact once I was cleaning her keyboard and I was like vacuuming it to get the
5:37 dust out from in between the keys I vacuumed up a key which wouldn't even
5:42 have been that bad if I'd been using like a portable vac but I was using a
5:46 built-in V so I had to go all the way down to the garage pull the entire full
5:53 Reservoir off of it and dig through like
5:58 years of dead skin cell accumulation and
6:02 dog hair to find the key so anyway long
6:06 story short it's good that the keys stay on um moving right along right blue keys
6:12 so I think it is fairly um optimistic of Dash keyboard to say that they're
6:16 slightly clicky because blue Keys blue key switches are extremely clicky and
6:21 they are my favorites because they feel
6:24 so good to type on and uh here we go
6:28 Blue key are oh oops okay whatever uh
6:31 blue keys are generally the preferred key uh key switches of typists however
6:36 there's no reason that Gamers wouldn't also enjoy them as well personally I
6:40 don't find that the keycaps make much of a difference to the gaming experience
6:44 whereas with typing it is night and day it's night and day going from membrane
6:48 to Mechanical and then it's night and day going from any mechanical keyboard
6:53 to the one that really suits your style the best so what makes them clicky is
6:57 the fact that they are
7:01 okay they like they reach a they reach a threshold Point here come getting really
7:05 close so no noise here then you reach a
7:08 threshold that is where the key actuates and then it has some more travel down to
7:12 the base so you actually don't even have to fully depress them in order to type
7:17 comfortably on it but if you want to you can bottom them out as well so if you
7:21 have a neighbor who doesn't want to listen to you typing all the
7:25 time this is not the keyboard for you but I say get it anyway because it's
7:30 really comfortable and really awesome and you know who cares what they think anyway so thank you for checking out my
7:35 unboxing of what I personally believe is like I said the ultimate elitist
7:40 keyboard um the Dos keyboard ultimate don't
7:44 forget to subscribe lus Tech tips for more unboxings reviews and other computer videos and we've also got high
7:49 quality rubber pieces on the bottom of the keyboard that will keep it from
7:54 slipping and going anywhere should you decide to elevate a little bit or should
7:57 you decide to not do that don't forget to subscribe to L
8:01 techtips I forgot to mention guys it does come with a USB to PS2 adapter
8:06 don't forget there are two USB plugs at the end one for the Hub one for the
