0:00 okay uh zoom in zoom in zoom in N I'm
0:03 just playing around with the camera in okay so today we'll be unboxing the Gigabyte 880gm ud2h so this is this is a
0:13 sticker that's okay though it's six core CPU ready out of the box it's part of
0:18 AMD's uh brand new 800 series chipsets
0:21 so the 880g is the replacement for the 785g that means it has Onboard video as
0:27 well as excellent performance support for all the latest CPUs all that good
0:31 stuff but you're going to be missing little things like say for example
0:35 Crossfire support because it's not designed to be an extreme gaming
0:38 platform that said you do have a lot of the other Gigabyte benefits with this
0:42 board you've got Ultra durable 3 classic whatever that means so that means you
0:46 got a 2 O copper PCB 50,000 hour Japanese solid caps as well as dual BIOS
0:52 it has a three-year warranty in US and Canada and it features their easy energy
0:56 saving let's move around to the back did I already mention it has support for the
1:00 fenom 2x6 I think I did but either way it's all good this is just more details
1:05 on the back about the motherboard itself you got support for up to DDR3 1800 plus
1:11 so that's through overclocking then you have a 4 plus one phase power design and
1:16 that pretty much covers the specifics
1:20 okay oh oh yeah we have lower Emi so
1:24 lower electromagnetic uh interference I believe it stands for that means just
1:28 sort of less General electromagnetic junk going on out of
1:33 this board did you know that that's what IO Shields are for it's to stop
1:37 electromagnetic like radiation from coming out the back of the PC where you
1:40 have a completely open Gap that's why all the PCI slots and the io Shield is
1:45 is covered with metal there you go you learned something today unless you
1:48 already knew so it has an IO Shield it has a Dolby Home Theater
1:53 sticker it has two SATA cables one of which is right angle and one of which is
1:57 straight as well as an IDE cable person I'd probably rather see four SATA cables
2:02 included but a lot of people are still using IDE DVD drives so that's what this
2:07 is great for you got a couple hard drives you got a DVD drive you're covered next we have the users
2:13 manual and inside we will find the 8
2:17 series utility DVD don't use this download the latest off the Gigabyte
2:20 website and then you've got a full English users manual covering a lot of
2:25 Bio settings how to install drivers how to plug in all of your front panel
2:29 connectors all that good stuff then we have a multilingual installation guide
2:33 book that covers the physical installation in 300 million different
2:37 languages all right then we have the motherboard itself so it's a pretty bare
2:41 accessory package although it is a fairly lowish end board so you that's
2:47 sort of the expectation that you got to have with a motherboard like this so
2:51 let's take this out now the one thing that I do see is
2:56 missing so this is not using the latest
3:00 Southbridge from AMD it is using the
3:03 latest 800 series Northbridge but it does not have support for SATA 3 so
3:09 you're still running SATA 2 but honestly if you're buying a value motherboard
3:12 you're probably not buying a a an S SATA
3:16 3 SSD anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about it cameraman's having a look
3:20 at gigabytes pretty sweet looking Northbridge heat sink I really you know
3:24 what now that North Bridges and South bridges for example this one run so cool
3:30 I I think it's great that some of the manufacturers are taking an opportunity
3:33 to make it more of a design element rather than just focused on you know oh
3:38 here's a heat sink here's some fins it cools it really good because the reality
3:42 of it is AMD's chipsets run so cool you could probably put this heat sink on
3:47 that chipset and no heat sink on this chipset and the board would probably run
3:52 just fine with a little bit of air flow but instead Gigabyte spends a couple
3:55 bucks they put a nice heat sink on it it looks cool they put like a turbo 3
4:00 thing on it that's pretty cool too why don't we have a look at the layout of
4:03 the board before I just start rambling here so up at the top left we have an
4:07 8pin um EPS connector so that is going
4:10 to be providing the power for your CPU I'm surprised to see an8 pin on a value
4:14 board like this but since you can install six pin CPUs and presumably you
4:18 can overclock at least a little bit on a board like this it's great to see that
4:22 guess the CPU is going to be pulling some real power next you've got your uh
4:27 two sets of dual Channel DDR three support so that's up to I believe 16
4:32 gigs if I recall correctly and 4 gig dims are finally getting reasonably
4:36 priced so you could actually load this up with six cores and 16 dims in a
4:40 microatx form factor I mean wow even a
4:43 couple years ago that was like impossible to Fathom next we've got a
4:47 floppy connector as well as an IDE connector your 24 pin PO is along the
4:51 right hand edge of the board exactly where it belongs and then down at the
4:55 bottom right it seems like an odd number we've got five SATA two ports it's not
4:59 that odd because the sixth SATA 2 Port running off this chipset is actually at
5:02 the back of the board you got three USB 2.0 headers your front panel headers and
5:08 then as far as the layout of the slots goes you got one PCIe 1X slot a 16x slot
5:13 and then two PCIe slots so if you're running a dual slot graphics card it'll
5:17 sit right here in the middle and then you'll have access to one PCI slot and
5:21 one PCIe 1X slot now one thing I do want
5:25 to comment on in this board is that if you are running a dual slot graphics
5:29 card it's going to take up this whole chunk of the board it's going to cover
5:32 up three of your SATA slots I would have liked to see that a little bit better
5:35 thought out but you can get around this when you're ordering this board just
5:39 make sure you order um at least one
5:42 right angle SATA cable so that you can just kind of put it in under the video
5:48 card and you can get access to it that way all right let's move on to the back
5:51 of the motherboard where we've got all of our IO connection so first of all
5:55 we've got a PS2 uh keyboard mouse combo
5:58 Port then we have one 1 2 3 4 5 6 USB
6:03 2.0 ports then we have DVI HDMI and VGA
6:07 out very handy we have optical audio out fire wire eat so that's that sixth
6:12 connector I was talking about then we've got gigabit Ethernet and 7.1 audio thank
6:16 you for checking out my unboxing of the Phenom X6 ready 880gm ud2h
