we're in the ASUS system suite and we've got a couple sweet things to show you
0:05
guys so these kind of go together but they kind of don't welcome to lonus Tech
0:09
tips at CES 2013 our trip to the show this year is powered by Corsair maker of
0:14
quality PC components and peripherals our trusted storage partner is Seagate
0:18
technology and our trusted networking partner is
0:25
linkis number one is the Zenbook touch
0:28
so this is a full HD Zenbook it's running Windows 8 it is touch enabled I
0:33
I I love Windows 8 with touch Windows 8 without touch isn't as good of an
0:38
experience in my opinion and there's a couple things that were challenging for
0:42
implementing touchscreen notebooks especially at the beginning number one is it does add some thickness and you
0:47
have to meet that specification from Intel in terms of the overall thickness
0:51
of the unit so let's just sort of there goes my phone let's just go through and
0:55
validate sort of okay is it still super thin absolutely at its thickest point
0:59
it's just over the thickness of an iPhone 4 you still got micro HDMI out
1:03
you still got VGA out with an adapter super speed USB 3 DC in so there's your
1:08
power the front very very very slim ASUS
1:11
has done such a beautiful job of the finishing on here oh did you get that
1:15
did you missed that there we go you got it now all right I'm getting the eyebrow
1:19
lift that means he's got it another Super Speed usb3 headphones and SD card
1:24
at the back you find nothing very very very clean overall design they've
1:27
maintained that they have added a multi-touch pad so here we go now we can
1:33
use the Ultrabook the way that it truly is meant to be used because at desktops
1:39
the screen's too far away to really to really touch it all the time but with an
1:42
Ultrabook now you can carry it around like this you can sort of click away on
1:47
it like this you can touch it when that's appropriate so you can you know
1:50
go look at the weather and you you can basically you can use it however you
1:54
want I wouldn't personally buy an Ultrabook without touch so if you're
1:59
looking for Zenbook it's going to be worth the extra couple bucks pick up the
2:03
Zenbook touch what kind of specs do we have available with it Core I5 or core
2:08
i7 13.3 in for this particular guy and
2:11
as always it's running Intel HD graphics it's pretty hard to put like a you know
2:15
GTX 680 and something like a touch something like an Ultra Book backl
2:20
keyboard looks absolutely beautiful it's hard to tell in here with all the light
2:23
but if we were able to kind of cover it up somewhat for you you'd be able to get
2:27
a better look at that can you see okay there we go
2:30
just gorgeous so all right moving on to the very drive so one of the Prime
2:35
complaints about Ultra books and small
2:38
form factor anything is expansion you know oh yeah I love it but you know I
2:42
miss having you know hardwired gigabit Ethernet I miss this I miss that okay
2:47
say goodbye to all that because this guy right here is basically the answer to
2:52
your prayers it's just a little Allin one unit that acts like an expander so
2:56
instead of plugging into a dock where it's like this huge bulky thing on your
3:00
desk in order to get inre increased IO you just use this guy there's a SL a
3:05
slot loading optical drive in the top nice sort of soft touch finish on the
3:09
back so it's not going to go anywhere it's not going to fall down it's not
3:12
going to move once you put it down on the side you've got usb3 here's the usb3
3:17
input and the power in two more usb3 so this adds two additional usb3 out uh
3:24
usb3 ports to your Ultrabook or your other PC Ethernet and you get more
3:30
output options that are using more standard connectors rather than
3:33
something like micro HDMI for example it's not limited to just being used with
3:37
something like a Zenbook though you can use it with whatever you want but I
3:41
think anyone who enjoys mobile computer oh I mean check this out it's not even
3:44
that big so if you have you know like a backpack and you got your Ultrabook in
3:48
there you keep this in one of the other Pockets now you have the benefits of
3:51
super ultr mobile Computing plus super ultra versatile Computing and I made
3:56
both of those things up so I should put a little TM so that no one steals my
3:59
thing so this has been another video in the
4:02
asuite at CES 2013 make sure you guys are subscribed because we're going to
4:05
show you all kinds of cool stuff here this
4:09
week thanks for watching Linus Tech tips at CES 2013 powered by Corsair Seagate
