0:07 welcome to my unboxing and overview of the adata xpg 2 and 1/2 in SATA 3 6 gbit
0:12 per second solo state drive this is their SX 900 this is a 128 gig SSD and
0:19 that is exceptional for I don't have my
0:23 keys on me that's okay I'll figure this out that is exceptional for one major
0:27 reason and that is that this is a sand Forest drive so if you guys are familiar
0:32 with sand Force drives already aha here we go I found a razor blade so if you
0:38 guys are familiar with sand Force drives you probably know that they don't really
0:43 come in 64 gig 128 gig and 256 gig
0:46 capacities usually they come in 60 gig 120 gig and 240 gig capacities and the
0:52 reason for that is that San Force drives have spare area so that capacity is on
0:57 there Nan chips only come in certain C denominations of capacity that usually
1:02 add up to you know 16 32 64 128 these
1:06 are these are the natural capacities however a data oh right so sand Force
1:11 drives usually have that area tucked away for a couple of reasons one is
1:15 better performance over time so it gives it somewhere to swap data out to that's
1:20 not really part of the The Logical partition that you have on the drive so
1:24 it can speed things up a little bit and then number two is for better
1:27 reliability because if Flash or if any
1:30 of the cells die anywhere else on the SSD it can actually start to borrow from
1:36 that spare area to increase the longevity of the drive so what ad had to
1:39 do to release a 128 gig sandforce SSD
1:45 was they had to use a higher quality of
1:48 Bend nand so that gives you
1:53 the well the extra reliability that you would need in order to not have any
1:58 spare area so they've ped up with a three-year warranty they've got uh what
2:02 else do they have on here sand Forest driven shock resistant it better be trim
2:06 support it better have it acronis true image HD that's kind of cool to have so
2:10 okay Norton Internet Security is sort of less relevant but having a chronis True
2:14 Image HD is cool you just download it for free and you can use that in order
2:17 to uh clone your current existing drive over to your new SSD it includes the
2:22 mounting screws that you need as well as a 2 and 1/2 in to 3 and 1/2 in desktop
2:26 adapter finally you've got an SSD Quick Start guide as well as oh hold on this
2:33 might have like a key on it or something in which case free software overview this release
2:39 is compatible with XP Vista and Windows 7 and it just shows you what to do cool
2:44 16 digit download key so yeah you just download it from the uh from the ad
2:48 website all right so let's have a look at the SSD itself it has a pretty slick
2:51 overall look so you've got your brushed uh brush Metal finish going on on the
2:55 top as well as the sides it's looks very nice got like you know a label with some
3:00 shiny gold going on uh you got all your usual mounting holes so it's going to
3:03 work in your laptop as well as your desktop as long as you don't have you
3:07 know a MacBook Air or something that uses uh like a KN a 2 and 1/2 in
3:11 standard Drive warranty void if broken so you don't want to go opening this
3:15 thing up and yeah there we did it we showed the acronis true Mage HD key
3:19 there it is um whatever okay so thank you guys for checking out this unboxing
3:24 and first look so the important things to take away from this are that ad data
3:27 has delivered a higher capacity dve although the the extra there is extra
3:32 cost associated with using a more reliable nand the extra cost
3:37 should I'll compensate for the or you
3:40 should be able to compensate for the extra cost with the extra capacity you
3:43 get so you actually do get an extra 8 gigs of capacity which is about what 6
3:47 and a half% or so thanks for checking out this unboxing and don't forget to
