0:00 wireless mouse technology has gotten crazy good lately with even professional
0:06 gamers cutting the cord in tournament play with thousands tens of thousands or
0:11 even hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line but what about mechanical
0:15 keyboards both mechanical keyboards and wireless keyboards have existed since
0:20 before i was born so where the he double
0:23 hockey sticks are all the wireless mechanical boards well
0:28 i'm glad you asked meet the g613
0:32 it's tournament grade mechanical wireless and it lasts for months on a
0:38 single charge game on
0:41 and on and on
0:45 and on and on
0:48 and on and on
0:53 and on i'm carrying too many phones right now hp's new omen x line up comes
0:58 equipped with Intel's seventh generation core i7 processor check it out at the
1:02 link in the video description even though it's part of their
1:06 gamer g series i think the best way to describe the design of logitech's g613
1:12 is utilitarian it's got pretty much
1:15 everything you need and very little that you don't it rocks an understated
1:20 two-tone gray finish with an integrated wrist rest which is nice because you
1:24 don't want that thing flopping around when you're on the go it's got six
1:28 programmable macro keys and then a handful of basic media keys
1:32 being wireless it also has an on off switch and these two buttons that let
1:36 you switch between the logitech lightspeed receiver unit plugged into
1:40 your computer and a supported nearby bluetooth device like your phone car
1:46 tv you get the point bluetooth is a fairly ubiquitous standard and that's a nice
1:51 thing to have let's talk typing logitech is using the same omron co-developed
1:56 roamer g-switches as the g910 but this
1:59 time without the weird-shaped keycaps RGB lighting and the phone dock so it
2:06 shouldn't be a surprise then that while the high tactile bump is a bit of an
2:09 acquired taste typing on it is actually a reasonably pleasant experience no
2:14 complaints there at all as for gaming logitech claims that thanks to the 2.4
2:20 gigahertz light speed connection same as on the g703 mouse which you can check
2:24 out here the short actuation distance of the romer g switches and the fast
2:29 on-board processing that the keyboard is over five times faster than razer's
2:34 wired black widow v2 and ed's opinion after gaming on it is it's
2:39 fine just fine so considering what a regular wired mechanical keyboard cost a
2:44 few years ago not too bad for 150 bucks
2:47 that's progress but that leads us back to our original question how has it
2:52 taken until 20 freaking 17 for a major
2:56 brand to release a wireless mechanical keyboard okay
3:00 so maybe it was a demand issue until the last few years mechanical
3:05 keyboards were a super niche item and even today most lay persons
3:10 don't know what they are so who would have been out there looking for a
3:14 keyboard that's both mechanical and wireless maybe it was cost the people
3:20 looking for those features also had to be willing to pay for them and
3:24 considering that a cheap wireless keyboard can cost three times as much as
3:28 a cheap wired one the fact that a basic mechanical keyboard is still a hundred
3:32 bucks makes that potentially pretty scary math no
3:37 no actually i reject that we don't think it was demand or cost keeping wireless
3:42 mechanical keyboards from hitting the mainstream clearly if there are people
3:46 out there buying 200 individually handcrafted keycaps
3:51 some of them would be willing to spend a few bucks for a completely wireless desk
3:55 setup we think it was more to do with the
4:00 limited benefit of wireless for keyboards i mean they just sit there
4:05 and the compromises that were imposed especially by older wireless
4:10 technologies but hold on a second Linus i mean the 2.4 gigahertz or bluetooth
4:15 wireless devices i have have basically no noticeable latency aren't those good
4:20 enough while i see your point basically isn't good enough the people
4:26 who buy mechanical keyboards are enthusiasts they care about registering
4:31 a keystroke a fraction of a second earlier than their opponents and they're
4:35 not about to sacrifice those key benefits just to cut a cord that's
4:41 usually out of the way anyway i mean who exactly is it out there that
4:46 wants to charge a heavy ass keyboard all the time for the privilege of being able
4:50 to pick it up and go sit on the couch to use it so that's what's changed here
4:55 better than wired latency with up to 18 months of life on two regular double a
5:00 batteries there's even a pair included in the box and while logitech's been
5:04 super tight-lipped about exactly how their lightspeed link actually works
5:09 what we do know is that it's strong high decibel signal one millisecond report
5:15 rate and supremely power efficient design is what enables this products
5:21 no compromises performance and endurance
5:24 with that said no compromises is in the eye of the
5:28 beholder and while the cordless simplicity of the g613
5:32 will appeal to some consumers many enthusiasts will be unwilling to
5:37 give up creature comforts like auxiliary screens pass-through usb ports built-in
5:43 audio backlit keys and let's face it that
5:47 sweet RGB nectar all things that they
5:50 could have at this price if they were willing to plug in a cord not to mention
5:55 that they'd probably get better keycaps too to say i was disappointed that the
6:00 legend on a 150 dollar keyboard uses
6:03 cheapo stickers would be a gross understatement but come on Linus they
6:08 gotta keep the cost of this revolutionary new product down somehow
6:11 right right no i mean to be clear by and large i like
6:17 the product and i think a lot of people are gonna buy it but logitech
6:21 at risk of sounding like a broken record here you guys need to stop screwing up
6:26 the keycaps on your romer g keyswitch products this thing uses more durable
6:31 double shots and it's like 25 bucks

6:39 charger has a ton of great features including six amps of output dual inputs
6:45 and the ability to identify your device
6:48 to deliver the fastest possible charge with what they're calling power iq 2.0
6:54 it's ultra high capacity so it's like
6:57 days of power it charges the iphone 7 over six times and with rapid recharge
7:03 you can top up the battery in as little as five hours using a quick charge
7:07 charger buy one now and you'll get anker's power core 2 20 000 portable charger a micro
