0:00 have you ever just really needed a screen for a second or two or for
0:04 something like a Raspberry Pi or desired a small additional screen for your
0:08 laptop while you're on the road or even just a portable monitor in general well
0:12 gik sent us their onlap 133h portable monitor so stay tuned to see how that
0:16 Stacks up and like the video if you guys are interested in seeing uh an
0:20 exploration kind of video where we see where the value is and 3D printing
0:24 something or just buying it
0:35 Intel brings ddr4 to the mainstream with their new core i76700 K and core i56600k
0:41 processors click now to learn more the
0:45 13303 H portable monitor is a 60 HZ IPS
0:48 1080p 13.3 in screen powered by 5 volts
0:52 running at 2 amps which can be received by up to two different input ports just
0:57 in case you're having a hard time hitting that amperage level off of one
1:00 cable it has a built-in speaker which is really not that great but I didn't
1:05 expect much from it considering the size of the overall package it's good enough
1:09 to troubleshoot things which is cool I guess and if you want to bypass it
1:13 you'll be happy to hear that there's a 3.5 mm audio jack on the side as far as
1:19 inputs go there's a surprisingly large range supported all the way from VGA to
1:24 HDMI and DisplayPort which is awesome because this is an impressive amount of
1:27 inputs for a little monitor one actually fairly major gripe though
1:32 that I have with this setup however is that the inputs require a connector that
1:36 is the same as a micro HDMI connector
1:39 which is the only actual cable that's included in the Box notice how the VGA
1:44 input is the same as the HDMI input this may leave you wanting instead of
1:49 satisfied because the only cable included is for HDMI meaning that if you
1:53 want to use a VGA connector or a DisplayPort connector you need to go buy the
1:57 cable off of their website because I don't personally know anywhere else
2:01 where you can buy something like a VGA cable that terminates in VGA and micro
2:06 HDMI so I tried to do that so I could tell you guys how expensive it was but
2:10 unfortunately their website currently has a program execution error so I guess
2:16 that's not really going to work out for me looking on Amazon also showed cables
2:20 from this company but they were priced at about 20 bucks each which is pretty
2:24 rough considering I found a VGA cable for literally 36 Cents I appreciate the
2:30 range of inputs I just wish they would have either had a better solution for
2:34 this or included all the cables or adapters in the Box on the other side
2:38 there's a bunch of buttons like power and random settings changes that show up
2:42 on standard monitors as well like changing the input or brightness this is
2:46 standard Fair no gripes here the buttons aren't too big so they don't often get
2:50 pressed when you have the case on and they're easy enough to press when you
2:53 really want to speaking of the case this thing is freaking awesome I realize that
2:58 I'm getting quite excited over what many people people are probably going to
3:01 think is the most boring part but seriously it's great not only does it
3:05 double as a multi-positional landscape stand by utilizing an extremely easy to
3:09 use magnetic ARM thing that's hosed on the back of the stand but probably the
3:14 coolest part is the fact that it will protect the screen and transport by
3:18 covering it up and adding some soft padded areas on the inside there are
3:22 other portable screens on the market but having them break and transport has been
3:26 a pretty constant issue with certain ones of them this should help alleviate
3:31 those problems lastly we have actual visual appearance which is actually
3:35 pretty solid the screen isn't all that big which is understandable so the 1080p
3:40 doesn't actually look horribly stretched out like it can on like a TV or
3:43 something the IPS panel looks quite good even at wide angles and its brightness
3:48 isn't anything to complain about Brandon even said that it looks good enough to
3:52 kind of use as an editing monitor on the road which is High Praise Aesthetics
3:56 wise the bezel is pretty huge and it's really not that thin in terms of the
4:01 actual unit itself but I'll give it a pass here due to the added benefits of
4:06 durability I guess so let's run through some usage scenarios the first two I
4:10 wanted to try were pretty straightforward but directly related to what we do for work first I had Brandon
4:15 hook it up to one of our filming cameras to use as an external monitor this could
4:19 really help someone who's trying to film things solo fixing your position or the
4:23 position of some object in the shot would be a lot easier if you can see it
4:27 in a nice large frame which could also will be much closer to you but there
4:31 were some issues here for some reason the screen would throw a signal out of
4:35 range error unless it was set to 60p 1080p60 720p60 480 p60 didn't matter
4:42 just as long as it was running 60p kind of weird this may be look into the
4:46 manual that actually happens to say read before usage on it so yep those
4:51 previously stated working settings are clearly laid out as the only supported
4:56 settings with the addition of 1080i60
5:00 now while I'm sure the master a is like oh well I see literally zero problems
5:04 here this isn't a good thing this can cause compatibility issues for a monitor
5:08 that I really just want to work all the time and while most things will work
5:12 just fine it will actually narrow the potential list of use cases including
5:16 who will use it say what you will about frame rates in movies and videos but our
5:21 camera guys won't normally film in 60 unless they're planning on slowing it
5:24 down which makes this thing useless for them then we have the simplest scenario
5:29 of them all which is probably the most common use case for this monitor a
5:33 travel monitor unfortunately we can't really test this but I put it through a
5:37 baggage handling scenario and then plugged it into a laptop and it worked
5:41 so that's a pass in my condition if it can survive the baggage scenarios of
5:46 going through Transit then we have the idea of a troubleshooting Monitor and
5:51 Raspberry Pi monitor being able to take this thing around and test other
5:55 people's systems and problems especially if they're having a display issue could
5:59 make things a lot easier but my favorite part is actually you could just take it
6:03 around to any of your randomly deployed raspberry pies or other various mini
6:08 computers you have to check in on them and perform diagnosis really easily
6:11 without having to haul a monitor around if you can't connect to them through a
6:14 network for some reason in conclusion yeah this thing's cool and it does have
6:18 its uses but it's still not a Whimsical purchase at
6:22 $330 for a 13.3 in 1080P 60 HZ screen
6:27 that you have to buy really expensive cables to use anything but HDMI with
6:31 you're really going to need to justify the portability aspect and make it worth
6:35 it which I'm sure some of you will totally be able to do so and honestly
6:39 I'm already pretty excited about bringing it on trips in order to help the editors so they can have a dual
6:43 monitor set up for their laptop so I don't know crunchy roll is a site created by
