0:07 so since my last personal rig update I have made exactly zero progress over
0:11 here so I promised to show well I don't remember if I promised to do this but I
0:16 should have promised to do this at some point cuz I was going to do it so I
0:19 wanted to show you guys the procedure for cleaning out older radiators because
0:24 as you guys know if you've been watching my personal rig updates my radiators are
0:28 not new this is a black ice Pro 2 which is the first radiator I ever bought for
0:33 my first water cooled rig and then this is a thermoil PA
0:37 120.4 which is a bit of a rare item these days I think there's probably RADS
0:41 that perform better but this is a good fit for the tj07 and uh yeah it's a great rad
0:47 there's really no compelling reason to replace it there's been some talk about
0:51 what fans's line is using I actually use two different kinds of fans in my rig
0:55 I'm using GED Wings there they are GED Wings in all
0:59 the places where they're visible so those are UV Blue fans and then on the
1:03 radiator down in the bottom the pa1 120.4 I'm actually using Silverstone air
1:08 penetrator 121s so those were one of the are are
1:12 they 121s pretty sure they're 121s whatever
1:16 the first directed airflow ones so those are UV Blue as well but you'll never see
1:19 them because they're hiding in the bottom the reason I was using these ones
1:22 is cuz they were the first um I got them back when they were the only uh directed
1:26 airflow fans so I I rave on and on and on about the Noctua ff1 12s those are
1:31 similar to these they're newer uh they're a little bit better but they're
1:35 directed airf flow so you get like a Vortex of air that moves away from the
1:39 fan like this so that it actually doesn't just kind of go all over the
1:43 place the reason for that is in the basement of the
1:46 tj07 here we go the white balance will be off over here but there's not really
1:49 a whole lot I can do about that right now let's go ahead and give you guys some more light in the basement of the
1:53 tj07 what you're doing is you're pulling the air in here and then what you
1:59 ultimately want it to do is go out the other side not just get sort of sorry
2:02 out the other side not just get dispersed around there so that's why I went with those fans and then GED wings
2:07 for the rest of it there you go there's the rest of the GED wings I I went with
2:11 those because at the time of buying them uh GED wings were one of the only
2:15 good-looking good performing fans that came in all the fan sizes that I needed
2:19 so Noctua had fans but their 92mm fan was not an a pressure optimized fan it
2:24 was an airf flow optimized fan it was with that really really um like highly
2:31 angled uh whatever blade design that I
2:34 really didn't like and didn't really believe in that
2:37 much um all right so what am I doing here vinegar for one thing so a 10%
2:43 vinegar and hot water mixture went into
2:47 the loop now most people just flush the radiators by putting some some uh some
2:52 water and vinegar inside them plugging them up shaking them up and then sort of
2:57 doing sort of less more and more diluted until you're doing a couple flushes with
3:00 distilled water in order to make sure they're all clean I knew mine were
3:04 particularly gunked up you can actually see the water is blue so I left it here
3:09 for about an hour actually running so I have a pump going here here's an ax850
3:14 running the pump for me know something to watch out for guys is uh if you don't
3:18 have quite as much Radiator in your test
3:21 configuration uh the pump can actually heat up the water to the point where it
3:25 can overheat so make sure that you actually turn one of one or two of the
3:29 fans on just to make sure that it doesn't overdo it uh with 6 by 120 mm
3:34 radiators though there's enough passive cooling that I didn't really have that issue so what I'm going to do now this
3:38 is my 10% is I'm going to do a 5% I mean
3:41 approximately 5% I don't know exactly how much water's in there but it doesn't
3:45 really matter so I'm going to do a 5% mixture then I'm going to do two or
3:48 three rounds of just distilled water to get the RADS as clean as I can so thank
3:53 you for checking out this personal rig update where it's basically me yammering
3:58 about nothing and then finally in the last couple of minutes telling you what
4:01 I'm actually doing and once this is done I'll be ready to put the RADS back in
4:05 the system which is one of the reasons why I haven't been able to install anything else cuz I need to Route all
4:09 the power to my fans and I need to get those RADS in before I can put all the
4:13 front panel uh bay covers see the rigs
4:16 over there front panel Bay covers in and stuff like that so don't forget to subscribe cus detective for more
