0:00 Do you ever have one of those days where you wake up and look in the mirror, but
0:05 instead of your reflection, you just see a bunch of tech news because it turns
0:10 out it's not a mirror at all. It's a teleprompter. I'm having one of those
0:13 days right now. Yeah. So weird. You'll get over it. We've seen a steady stream
0:17 of leaks about the Google Pixel 4 already, but those leaks have expanded
0:21 into a full-blown whole breach. Videos, screenshots, and spec lists have all hit
0:26 the internet, revealing the phone in clearly white, just black, and not
0:31 coral, or whatever they end up calling it. I'm voting for close to coral.
0:36 Anyway, we've known for a while that the phone will have an iPhone 11 like square
0:41 camera module on the back and a substantial top bezel housing sensors
0:45 for gesture recognition and face unlock. But now we also know the phone will
0:50 boast a Snapdragon 855 processor, at least 6 gigs of RAM, a 90 Hz display,
0:55 woo, and an 8x optical camera zoom. It
0:58 also appears that both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will have that top bezel, no
1:05 notches in sight. The Pixel 4 is expected to launch October 15th, which
1:09 is like, that's funny. We're over a month away and I think it's safe to say
1:14 that we know more about this phone than we don't know. And the crazy thing is
1:19 Google started the leaks themselves. It's It's funny. It's like it's like
1:22 realizing, well, the boat is sinking. So like, dang it. If we're going to go
1:27 down, we're going to do it on our own terms. Everyone start punching the
1:32 hole. In case you were spending some time under the old rock yesterday, Apple
1:36 unveiled their new iPhones. So, here's a super quick summary. At $6.99 US, the
1:41 iPhone 11 is the successor to the iPhone XR with a 6.1 inch liquid retina LC
1:46 liquid retina LCD display, dual rear cameras, and an extra hour of battery
1:50 life. The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max have
1:53 5.8 in and 6.5 in super retina XDR OLED
1:57 displays, three cameras, and an extra four to 5 hours of battery life.
2:01 Compared to last year's 10S, all three iPhone 11s run on the A13 Bionic chip,
2:05 have an automatic night camera mode, and can take 4K 60 video on the front camera
2:09 in addition to slow-mo selfies, aka slow fees. What was that?
2:17 But there are some other stories that have crept under the radar. Apple Care
2:21 is now available as a subscription rather than a onetime fee. Apple
2:25 actually went off script a bit and made the Pro iPhones thicker to add more
2:29 battery life. Woo! Woo! And the new U1
2:32 chip will enable users to more easily airdrop files by pointing their iPhones
2:37 at each other. I have got to see that one for myself. That might just be the
2:42 least boring thing to come out of yesterday. It's like, you want this
2:45 picture? Bang. You got me. And in other Apple news, the
2:49 company's mysterious AR headset has seemingly been confirmed. Now, we've
2:53 seen references to a code name Garta before. It's like Sparta's less cool
3:00 like sis sister state. But now developer
3:03 Steve Trotton Smith has posted more information including screenshots of
3:08 Xcode 11 that describe apps intended to
3:11 be run on an iPhone or in a headset.
3:16 There's also descriptions of a handheld controller that could be used with the
3:20 headset which uses a system shell called Starboard.
3:25 There's even a readme file directed to Apple employees telling them how to run
3:29 Starboard apps without using the headset. So, watch out Hollow Lens.
3:34 Apples are coming for you. All six of
3:37 the people who have a hollow lens. There's more than six. You know, some of
3:41 those quits weren't very bit at all. But these ones are sort of everyone in their
3:46 dog is launching a game streaming service. And apparently EA is someone or
3:52 their dog because they're no exception. The company just launched a closed trial
3:56 of its Project Atlas
4:00 uh service with some members of the press being allowed to test it out on
4:04 phones, tablets, PCs, TVs. They say it's
4:07 okay, but there's a tiny bit of lag. Unfortunately, all streaming services
4:12 are okay right now and have some lag.
4:16 So, as usual, we're going to have to wait until Atlas enters the real world
4:19 to say anything concrete about it. But chances are the conclusion is going to
4:23 be that it's okay, but there's some lag.
4:26 The Filmic app that was shown off at Apple's event yesterday was pretty cool,
4:30 allowing user to record from multiple lenses on the same phone at once. But
4:35 Roland's new 4X Camera Maker app allows you to sync four iPhones together to
4:41 record something from multiple angles and switch between them on the fly or in
4:45 post. That seems quite a bit more pro to me. Uh maybe that should have been at
4:49 the event. Come on, Apple. It's not even
4:53 pro. Nintendo is continuing its crusade
4:56 against piracy. Good luck with that. Concerning its games and consoles, the
5:00 company has just secured a court order from the England and Wales High Court,
5:05 requiring the country's five major ISPs to restrict access to four websites
5:10 known for providing resources for hacking the switch. I'm sure the pirates
5:15 will not find a way around this roadblock.
5:18 Yeah, that's a joke. Razer has made a case for the new iPhone
5:23 11 lineup intended to help you game better. The case has a thermopen
5:28 performance layer that transfers heat away from the phone and perforations
5:34 that let heat escape gamers. The modification should help you avoid
5:38 overheating when you're poning noobs in Fortnite mobile. That is to say, if it
5:42 works at all. Um cuz like it won't
5:45 really cool your phone per se. It'll just help you avoid getting roasted in
5:50 real life. I can't say. What have you What have you What even have you written
5:53 here? Might get roasted in game. Audi showed off a concept for an off-road
5:58 vehicle with no headlights. Instead, drones would illuminate the path ahead
6:02 of a car. Okay. Are you even being serious at this point? This is real.
6:06 This is this is actual news. Periodically landing on the roof to
6:11 charge back up. And that that my
6:14 friends, once we're scraping the bottom of the barrel that hard, that's how you
6:17 know the episode's over. See you guys on Friday for more tech news. If you'll
6:21 excuse me, I'm going to go play the new Colonel Sanders Dating Simulator, which
6:25 is also real news, by the way.
