0:07 got some parts loaded in the back of the car so we're on my way to the plating
0:11 shop where I'm going to get the powder coating stripped uh from any parts that
0:15 are already powder coated and then I'm also going to be getting quotes on gold
0:20 plating the copperhead blocks as well as
0:23 I'm going to get a quote on gold plating the top piece of the copperhead RAM or
0:28 uh doing the EV GA classified card I'm
0:32 also going to have the powder coating stripped off the Appo HD hold down cuz
0:36 it's a little bit scratched and the rate is the same pretty much no matter how
0:40 many little things I do at this point so I'm uh just bringing along everything
0:45 that I need and here we go off to North Vancouver so here I am at specialty
0:49 plating it is uh hold on what time is
0:54 it 8:05 so they told me to come byy at
0:57 around 8:15 and they'll show me the pred so obviously I'll want to get that on
1:02 the camera for you guys um that they're going to use to strip the paint off of
1:07 my tj07 parts uh so that's going to be
1:10 pretty cool and then another thing that we're also going to do while we're here
1:14 is uh get quotations on some of the parts that I may or may not get the
1:18 plating changed or upgraded on
1:23 um yeah so this will be interesting we're going to head inside as soon as
1:26 they as soon as they get here at around quarter after so I'm inside specialty
1:30 plating now so we've got a bunch of cool stuff going on here these are the copper
1:34 hooks that they use to submerge these rods into the various tanks they've also
1:39 got a wide variety of different chemicals so uh this one right here was
1:44 pointed out this is the gold tank uh right here this one is the reverse
1:50 you're going to have to remind me sorry reverse elect this is the reverse
1:54 electrolysis for Chrome and then this guy is thetic soda tank costic soda tank
2:00 so thetic soda tank ah sodium hydroxide
2:03 can cause chemical burns it is really bad and you should not even get that
2:07 close to it so I'm not going to be here for long guys but this is what we're
2:10 going to be using essentially to strip the powder coating off of my case you
2:15 ready so this one right here is actually a sacrificial piece that we're throwing
2:19 in the big tank just to show you guys what happens but um my case will
2:24 actually be put in a smaller nonheated
2:27 tank because the metal actually can't handle the strain of the of the large
2:33 heated tank for uh for an extended
2:36 period of time that would be required to remove all the paint and grime and Gunk
2:40 so this tank they also use to you use wait you use this one to clean off any
2:45 external dirt yeah so any external dirt so for example after uh these guys are
2:50 made of okay I can't remember what these are
2:53 made of but these are cast iron so what they're doing is they're polishing it up
2:57 and then you get a little bit of grime left on it so before they can put it in
3:00 for nickel plating they use this tank for that as
3:05 well so guys it was only in for about 30 seconds but you can see see the powder
3:10 coating has remained but I actually painted the backs of these so you can
3:15 see the actual spray paint came off almost immediately in that solution so
3:20 they're going to need some more time with the powdercoated parts and once
3:24 that's done I will be sending them off to Mountain mods for Powder Coating so I
3:28 think this pretty much covers the uh the paint stripping portion of our video
3:31 don't forget to subscribe and thank you for watching actually I fig while I'm
3:36 here I might as well show you guys some of the work that they do so I showed you these polished pieces here that we're
3:41 preparing for cleaning so uh I probably shouldn't be touching these they have a
3:44 dust cover on them so hopefully I'm not going to get in trouble but I want to
3:47 bring you guys over to where these have come out of the gold tank um also the uh
3:54 the gentleman here who's showing me around showed me the sulfuric acid tank
3:57 he said the reason they're not using that for my case is that it can eat away
4:01 at the metal especially because I am using um particularly thin pieces of
4:06 metal designed for computer cases rather than you know Automotive or anything
4:10 like that so let's come over here and have a look at a more of a finished
4:14 product so these are those pieces that we looked at just now before but with
4:18 gold plating and these are polished right as well yeah these are polished as
4:22 well so you can see the level of reflectiveness in these materials it
4:26 looks just outstanding so that's one of the reasons why I'm also thinking of
4:30 getting some gold plating done for the build to go with the Apple ghd limited
4:34 edition water block oh and he's bringing me over here
4:37 now too apparently there's even more good stuff there's also gold but you can't really see the gold because of the
4:42 lighting oh it's hard to see the yeah it's hard to see the gold but the light's better over
4:46 here well I don't want to wreck the packaging or anything but yeah you can
4:49 see they actually do quite a bit of uh different plating work you can go to
4:52 their site just Google specialty plating so they're in North Vancouver it's a bit
4:56 of a trek for me but I've dealt with these guys before on a previous project
5:00 and even though we didn't manage to to get it done they were very accommodating
5:03 throughout the whole process so here I am back again
