so we've got another 5850 unboxing we're unboxing the Gigabyte radon hd5850 so
0:07
we're going to have a look at this fancy box here it's quite a large box for a
0:11
video card so the focus Technologies here are obviously direct X11 support
0:16
and ATI ifinity which is your your three
0:19
Graphics displays all at the same time you know it's funny actually the demo
0:23
they have here is Left for Dead which is exactly what we used in our Radeon uh
0:28
5870 introduction and ifinity introduction that we did on NC Tech tips
0:33
and okay so let's get this box open we got a black box here and when we open it
0:38
we will find the ATI radon series users
0:42
manual and we will find a graphics accelerator driver CD okay so the manual
0:48
also includes instructions for setting up the software as well as installing
0:52
the hardware on your motherboard and enabling Crossfire so that's very useful
0:56
okay then we will find a piece of foam then under the no forget under the foam
1:01
we'll get to that after then we will find a couple of Molex to PCI Express
1:06
six pin adapters a crossfire bridge and
1:09
a DVI to VGA adapter so exactly the same
1:13
accessory package as we found in the XFX card that we already looked at so here's
1:16
the card itself let's get the tape peeled off and you will notice some
1:21
definite similarities between this card and the one that we checked out the
1:25
other day here so first of all okay
1:29
let's have a look at gigabytes custom sticker so they've got kind of a
1:33
metallic looking sticker on the front of the cart itself and then they've got uh
1:37
flipping it around to the back here the same sort of Batmobile looking back end
1:42
with two six pin PCI Express connectors now something to note about the 5850 is
1:47
it's quite a bit less power hungry than the 5870 even though it has the same number
1:52
of power connectors so on the top you can see that covered up by a little
1:56
Gigabyte rubber cover are our two Crossfire Bridge connectors and then on
2:00
the back of the card we've got no shroud like the 5870 just a bare PCB with a
2:06
back plate and then uh yeah you can just see all of the all aspects of this card
2:11
so the 5850 is a little bit slower than the 5870 but you do get quite a cost
2:15
saving so here under here we will find DisplayPort under here we will find
2:21
HDMI I kind of like these little uh these little Port covers I think they're
2:25
kind of neat totally useless but just
2:28
kind of neat then we have two DV connectors so this is a dual slot card
2:32
and you can make use of up to three of these connectors one of which has to be
2:36
the DisplayPort so this is a PCI Express 16x card and for just a quick
2:41
comparison even though we did a full video comparing the 5850 and the 5870
2:47
I'm just going to show you I've got tape stuck on my hand the 5850 versus the
2:52
5870 so there's quite a bit of a size difference there and thank you for
2:56
checking out my video blog on the Gigabyte HD 58 50
