today I have an assus notebook to unbox
0:10
this is a Blu-ray notebook PC which is
0:14
actually pretty good for the price point that we're looking at here so I'm just
0:17
going to go ahead and start opening this up actually let's see what ASUS has to
0:21
say for the whoa hey usually when I pull
0:24
on this it pulls like the whole notebook out but nope not today all right let's
0:29
see what assus has to say for themselves this is the a52f xt22 it's a 15.6 in HD
0:36
notebook with a last generation core i 5480 4 gigs of RAM 500 gigs hard drive a
0:41
Blu-ray Drive Windows uh Windows Home
0:44
Premium a windows7 Home Premium oh man that was difficult and what else do we
0:49
have to oh it's got the ASUS accidental damage warranty so remember ASUS's
0:54
warranty is second to is topnotch
0:58
basically what they're able to do is they actually offer accidental damage
1:03
warranty by default on some of their
1:06
notebook SKS including this one so that means apparently water electrical fire
1:11
or even if the screen gets busted up according to the little pictures on the
1:16
side of the Box all right so let's have a look at the accessories that are
1:22
included and not a whole lot in terms of accessories we've got the
1:27
battery let's open that baby up okay
1:30
battery looks a little something like that oo shiny all right next we have the
1:36
power adapter which is kind of standard pretty
1:40
small that's good and then we have a power cord which goes with the power
1:45
adapter all right having a look at the notebook
1:49
itself it seems like pretty standard fair for a 15.6 in Notebook all right so
1:56
the overall thickness is just about like
1:59
that so hold up the iPhone 4 uh for comparison someone actually questioned
2:04
my iPhone 4 size comparison something like blah blah blah we know you have an
2:08
iPhone 4 get over it yeah that's really not the point the point is just in terms
2:12
of size how it compares to something that everyone knows that's the point so
2:17
there's the iPhone 4 comparison against the notebook itself you can see the top
2:21
of it actually has kind of a nice finish on it with little sort of lines and a
2:26
shiny ASUS logo on the back okay the B is pretty uh pretty
2:31
normal I'd say there's nothing exceptional about the bottom of the
2:34
notebook you've got a nice big access panel so if you do have to let's go
2:39
ahead and throw the battery in so if you do have to upgrade your RAM or hard
2:43
drive or anything like that you have full access to it it is not blocked off
2:47
in any way by warranty void if removed stickers so that's really nice if you
2:51
want to make little upgrades there so let's have a look at the outside of the
2:56
notebook before we open it up so here this looks like vents or speakers or
3:00
something I don't know some see some of these have holes that go all the way through and some of them don't so not
3:05
going to not going to question it at a certain level all right let's move around to the other side where we have
3:09
our Blu-ray Drive a USB port we have an
3:12
SDHC reader we've got gigabit Ethernet and then our power in moving to the back
3:18
of the notebook it's got a long battery at the back so there's no ports on the
3:21
back to speak of on the other side we have a Kensington lock we have a heat
3:25
pipe heat sink cooler you can see the heat pipe in there carrying the heat
3:29
away from the CPU we have VGA out which I still do like to see it's handy for
3:33
older projectors and whatnot HDMI out two more USB 2.0 mic and headphones so
3:39
it doesn't have USB 3 but this is more of a value positioned notebook so I'll
3:44
let that slide all right so let's go ahead and uh
3:51
take the plastic off so very very glossy finish overall to the unit here so you
3:56
can see that glossy battery matches the finish on The Notebook itself and then
4:00
there's a glossy screen with a glossy border so I decided to turn it on cuz my
4:05
battery is died on my camera so I press the button over here and then it turns
4:08
on uh let's have a look at the overall layout so we have a multi-touch pad here
4:13
ooh apparently it has facial recognition log on so that's kind of cool here let's
4:17
have a look at the features that it's talking about right over here so smart
4:21
power management their power for gear uh software has been out for a long time
4:24
works great facial recognition log on and palm proof technology so it's to
4:29
prevent you from from accidentally moving the mouse around while you are
4:33
typing see with your palm like like this like that okay so let's have a look
4:38
at the keyboard layout overall very very sensible layout see we
4:42
have full length shift key full length backspace key full length enter full
4:47
length shift oh nice big control that's an interesting design choice right there
4:52
our arrow keys are arranged correctly so
4:55
that is to say like a desktop keyboard and it does have a full number pad very
5:00
handy thumbs up isus for getting the keyboard pretty much bang on right with
5:06
this one so function keys up here you can put it to sleep you can turn on or
5:09
off your wireless brightness up down turn the screen off switch to external
5:13
turn off the touchpad mute volume down volume up all your standard Fair the
5:17
only thing I'd say might be missing would be uh media control keys but that
5:21
should be okay shouldn't be the end of the world one way or the other oh no
5:26
there they are aha function and arrows is your med control so there's lots of
5:30
good function keys so when you oh okay yes the click thing here oh it has
5:36
plastic over it so it's probably shiny once we
5:40
uh can get that come on once we get it
5:44
removed there we go oo shiny see very
5:48
shiny okay uh so yeah you've got a few different options for languages so you
5:52
know Portuguese French English what else
5:56
I don't know some other ones that I don't recognize there we go so oh
6:00
actually is this supposed to be English yeah okay this is actually for one of
6:03
cameraman's relatives so he's uh helping
6:06
me get things right while I set it up here and I think that's pretty much it
