0:13 welcome to an unboxing with no boxes
0:16 whatsoever uh Samsung was recently here in Richmond for the tech fair and they
0:21 left behind a couple of their notebooks so I figured what the hey we might as
0:24 well have a look at them right here in front of me I have the 530 u4 and the
0:29 530 u3 these are 13.3 in and 14in models
0:33 respectively from Samsung's three series
0:36 of notebooks so while this is not necessarily the same kind of uber
0:41 premium that you're going to see on something like a Samsung 9 series which
0:45 we also did an unboxing of of their 9 series Ultra Book it's still pretty
0:49 respectable when it comes to the form factor as well as the battery life so
0:53 let's start with the 530 u4 which is this guy right here this guy has up to a
0:58 1 TB Drive depending on the configuration you go with and what's
1:01 cool about it is it includes a 16 gig High uh SSD that they're using uh Intel
1:07 SRT technology in order to accelerate the storage on I'm a huge fan of SRT
1:11 technology so I'm really glad to see that included in terms of the overall IO
1:16 oh right 14-in screen which is running at 1366 X 768 resolution in terms of IO
1:21 you got your power you got your hinged Ethernet port very cool two USB 3.0
1:26 ports VGA HDMI and a combo headphone
1:29 microphone Jack out and on the other side you have an optical drive which is
1:33 tough in this kind of a form factor USB 2 as well as an SD card
1:40 reader nothing really that sort of
1:43 special on the bottom of the unit I don't know why I was expecting to find
1:47 anything there on the top you got speakers your standard sort of chicklet
1:50 keyboard as well as a fairly large trackpad with dedicated left and right
1:53 buttons this piece right here is actually made of aluminum which is kind of nice cuz it means it's less prone to
1:58 wearing out and looking really gross although not as uh not as good at that
2:03 as glass which we saw in one of the recent HP Envy notebooks that we took a
2:07 look at got your webcam and that's pretty much it so stepping down to the
2:13 530 u3 model this one doesn't have an
2:16 optical drive so you still see two USB 2.0 ports an SD card reader on the other
2:23 side you got your hinged Ethernet power USB 3 HDMI as well as a combo audio port
2:29 and one of those adapter VGA ports you'll have to buy the adapter if you
2:33 want to use that but at least you have the option um the u3 is actually a
2:39 little bit thinner than the u4 now they both have uh what Samsung says is
2:43 brighter than normal screens so these are 300 nit screens and they're both
2:47 using dual core ulv processors um oh
2:53 another cool thing now compared to most entry-level notebooks these days which
2:56 are using glossy screens these are both using matte finished screens now the the
3:01 u4 comes with an hd75 50m graphics card
3:05 whereas the u3 comes with Intel integrated HD graphics and it also
3:10 doesn't have the hybrid SSD hard drive
3:13 thing going on for it either let's just see if there's anything sort of okay
3:18 yeah I don't know why I did that again wasn't really expecting to find anything
3:21 there both of them have aluminum tops that look quite nice and I think that
3:26 pretty much covers it so uh this is basically what you would look like
3:29 carrying around oh oh you know what here I should show you guys so it's in sleep
3:32 mode now this is uh this is pretty cool it wakes up really really
3:39 fast I wonder if the battery died oops
3:43 actually give me a second here guys so yeah my bad guys this laptop is not set
3:48 for whatever reason um this was used in the trade show so it's possible someone
3:52 was playing around with it to come out of sleep when you open the lid so I'm
3:56 going to show you guys how quickly it resumes from sleep now
4:00 there it takes that long
