0:00 there is nothing quite as delicious as a new Android release I mean with names
0:05 like ice cream sandwich kit cat and
0:08 marshmallow I think anyone who isn't diabetic would be excited and now
0:13 there's a new version of Android to satisfy your craving for some sweet
0:18 sweet software nougat less excitingly
0:21 known as Android 7.0 but is it a big enough deal to
0:26 become the creamy satisfying Center of your smartphone well unlike the smaller
0:32 number do other number updates that are often little more than security patches
0:38 nougat brings a boatload of new features
0:42 first off IT addresses one of the biggest limitations of traditional
0:46 mobile user interfaces the inability to see two things at once something we take
0:51 for granted on desktop platforms with nougat though you get a split screen
0:56 mode that's reminiscent of the snap assist feature in Windows 10 you simply
1:01 drag your thumbnails to the side of the screen to activate the feature this will
1:05 be especially useful on larger smartphones faets and tablets as you'll
1:10 finally be able to make better use of all of that screen real estate in stock
1:15 Android without the janky limitations on some of the add-on ways that this has
1:19 been done in the past and speaking of doing many things at once you can double
1:24 tap the recent apps button now to switch between your two most recent apps just
1:30 like alt tab instead of fiddling around with the virtual Rolodex every time
1:35 another tablet and fablet friendly feature is the new ability to natively
1:40 adjust the size of text and UI elements
1:44 on your screen older versions of Android kept screen elements more or less the
1:49 same size regardless of how large or small your device was but Nate resolves
1:54 this problem by making it easy to shrink things down if you're one of the
1:59 unfortunate people who bought one of these or enlarge them if you're rocking
2:03 a tiny screen moving on one of the most important functions of any modern
2:07 smartphone is to push notifications for things like email angry tweets and
2:13 reminders about your dance card of dates that might stand you up nou get's
2:18 notification system has changed a fair bit including the iOS style ability to
2:24 reply to things directly from the notification panel as well as easy
2:29 access to the mute button for notifications if a newly installed app
2:33 just won't shut the heck up and if you're getting multiple messages or
2:38 emails you can now expand notifications to deal with each message individually
2:43 without going full screen on the app
2:46 continuing with the theme of doing things quickly your quick settings for
2:50 Wi-Fi removable storage Etc now sit at
2:53 top the notifications panel and if you don't like them there you can also
2:57 customize your quick settings so it's a little bit easier to get to the things
3:01 you use the most but UI upgrades aren't
3:04 the only thing that you can find in nugat there are also enhanced security
3:08 features the OS can now allow apps to access just one directory on your device
3:14 to alleviate privacy concerns to a degree as well as offering file level
3:20 encryption instead of whole device encryption which is helpful because
3:25 older versions of Android would lock the entire phone on boot until you enter
3:29 password meaning you wouldn't get notifications after a cold start nougats
3:34 file level encryption by contrast allows certain things to be accessible from the
3:39 lock screen so you won't miss anything important after a reboot so you throw in
3:44 some additional bells and whistles such as Vulcan API support at least on phones
3:48 that ship with Android 7.0 a low latency
3:52 visual mode to help phones play more nicely with VR headsets and a work mode
3:56 that allows you to disable your job related apps with a single toggle so you
4:01 can unplug when it's time to go home and nougat looks like it might add some real
4:06 deliciousness to your mobile device just
4:09 don't try to coat your phone in actual
4:13 chocolate I mean who would do that speaking of delicious fresh books is on
4:17 a mission to make Freelancers lives less
4:20 stressed and more organized and I guess if they use the extra money they make
4:25 and the extra time that they save more delicious because they could go out for
4:29 for a really nice meal okay that was a terrible segue anyway the point is
4:32 they're easy to ous tool for managing your accounting if you're a small
4:37 business owner like if you're a plumber or you run a small dance studio or you
4:40 do computer repair on the side is awesome you can track your hours you can
4:44 create invoices that look professional very very quickly you can send the
4:48 invoices you can see when your client has read it and they can even pay you
4:52 right through fresh books they even allow you to accept deposits for your work through their platform so the work
4:57 is paid for on your schedule so if all that sounds pretty good then
