today I'll be doing an unboxing of a product that you probably won't see on a
0:06
shelf anywhere any time soon so this is
0:09
the antec Neo Echo
0:12
450c it provides 450 WTS of continuous
0:16
power remember all ntech power supplies are rated by continuous power not Peak
0:21
power like some cheaper units um it is an 80 plus certified power supply and it
0:26
comes in a very environmentally friendly looking box it's got flowers on it they
0:31
do not include a power cord because by
0:35
anex line of reasoning the power cord is just adding unnecessary cost and
0:39
unnecessary waste to the product as most computer users probably have one lying
0:44
around which is true in a lot of cases also if you don't have a power cord it's
0:48
like a $2 Adder to buy one at NC anyway
0:51
so uh it's not not a bad idea okay by reusing your existing cord you can
0:55
reduce waste and help protect the environment okay what what else do we
0:59
got on here so uh dual and quad core ready I should certainly hope so EPS
1:03
12vt as well as ATX 12vt 2.3 okay active PFC single 12vt rail on
1:09
this 450 W power supply five SATA connectors and Industrial grade
1:13
protection so for things like overcurrent over voltage all of that
1:17
kind of stuff here's our overall specs so the output is 450 wat we can actually
1:24
output 408 watts of that on the 12vt rail so it is a 34 amp 12vt rail that
1:29
it's important to know if you're looking at a video card and you want to find out
1:33
if this power supply will be adequate for powering it and I think that's
1:36
pretty much it for what I want to show you guys on the front here so why don't we start opening up this box and see
1:43
what's the deal with the Neo Echo now I would normally call it a Neo Eco because
1:48
to me that's what that's what that word
1:51
means but everyone from an keeps calling
1:54
it Neo EO to me so I'm like okay well I guess I better pronounce it their way
1:59
all right inside be find first of all a product description get economical power
2:04
today oh that's probably why it's Echo cuz it's economical not
2:11
ecosystem or ecology so that's why it's a neoeco all right so the newo echo
2:16
series anex high efficiency power supply solution 80 plus certification quiet
2:19
double ball bearing 120 mm fan this is a really nice thing to see on an on a
2:24
value power supply from antech because they've typically gone with the 80
2:28
mil uh 80 mil cooling fan on their more
2:31
value oriented product so that's really good uh this product overview will
2:35
provide general information which this onboxing will also Pro provide general
2:39
information so we're not going to worry too much about that right now an.com
2:42
survey apparently you can win prizes for telling us what you think Neato okay uh
2:49
we've got more environmentally friendly packaging so you can see it does not
2:52
come with any foam inside it uses only
2:56
this uh recyclable cardboard stuff we've got four screws for installing it into
3:01
your case and a paper sleeve to prevent
3:04
it from being scratched or anything bad like that from
3:08
happening okay there's some of that
3:12
uh packing material to protect it during
3:16
Transit more packing material power
3:19
supply itself all right so why don't we start
3:24
with let's start with cables today so let's have a look at what the neoeco has
3:28
in terms of cables
3:32
oh These are nice long cables actually for a value unit look at
3:37
this so here's our 24 pin connector okay
3:41
it uses a detachable four pin although
3:44
it's semi-attached by default although you can tear it off if you don't need it
3:49
so that's that's my preferred way of doing this because it means that it is
3:53
connected at all times and you don't have to worry about like oh do I have it
3:57
aligned just right when I'm plugging it in but you can break it off if you so
4:02
desire so that's kind of neat and it's a nice long cord so this should be just
4:06
fine with for a bottom mounted power supply which is one of those concerns
4:09
whenever you're not spending a fortune on a power supply and you want something
4:13
that you're going to be sure is going to reach to the top of your case that's
4:16
something to be aware of it has a four plus4 pin connector for the
4:20
CPU we have a single PCIe connector so
4:24
that means that you're not going to be running any high powered graphics cards
4:28
off this particular unit so you're going to be limited to something like a GTX
4:33
550 TI at the top end with a single PCIe
4:36
power connector okay next we
4:40
have one harness full of oh no wait hold
4:44
on how does this work okay give me a sec no we
4:48
have oh it uses the mix kind okay so we
4:51
have one harness that is purely Molex so three Molex and one floppy and that's a
4:55
nice long cable as well so you can see the height is approximately uh 1.3 Linus
5:01
arms okay and then we have a mixed one
5:05
which has two SATA and one Molex so that would be perfect to run up to maybe your
5:10
optical drive Bays where maybe you got one SATA Optical and you've got an older
5:14
IDE one and you want to use uh both of those connectors and then finally we
5:18
have a piure SATA one which is also quite long although not quite as long as
5:21
that pure Molex one and that has three more SATA connectors on it so total of
5:27
four Mo x one floppy five SATA one 4 plus 41 6 pin PCIe and a 24 pin ATX
5:34
connector now let's have a look at the unit itself this is a c model which
5:37
means it does not have a modular interface all of the cables are
5:41
permanently attached move around to the side it's got just a sort of a dark mid
5:47
medium gray finish it is painted so that means that you don't have that ugly
5:52
horrible unfinished look to it it would look at home pretty much anywhere you
5:56
can see all the uh branding is going to look right side Side Up regardless of
6:00
which way you install it in your case see like that uh you've got your general
6:04
specs here again all of your safety and certifications and whatnot are all here
6:09
as well on the bottom as mentioned before it does use a 120 mm fan and I
6:15
anc's previous products or anything to go by it's probably a very high quality
6:19
double ball bearing fan uh next here on the back we've got um typical antec
6:24
looking ventilation they don't use a honeycomb style like a lot of the other
6:27
guys do they use this more more Square style first time I saw this was on the
6:32
neop power I believe so that's uh pretty
6:35
much it for that so thank you for checking out my unboxing of the antech Neo Echo
