0:34 uh we were making some pretty significant progress on our upcoming

0:38 headquarters we had a lot of people tell us that hey yeah the sound on that uh

0:44 chair racing Channel Super Fun video was not super fantastic and oh shoot I just

0:51 realized my title is wrong this should be the W

0:55 show um weekly Tech and and gaming talk

1:02 Fridays at 16:30 boom that is updated so a lot of

1:08 people said the the sound was not not very exceptional but we have actually

1:13 made significant progress on that since then and uh it's

1:18 been expensive but

1:22 uh yeah it's been it's been expensive

1:26 but uh we're we're still you know we're Trucking on and we're really really

1:30 excited about uh about what there is to

1:33 bunch of people are apparently complaining about the lower third too bad we are sticking with the lower third

1:38 exactly the way it is you want to know why because I like it and it's lonus

1:43 Media Group where if I want it changed I

1:46 have to pay someone to do it and that's expensive so that is exactly why we are

1:51 leaving that um I've got uh oh right

1:54 I've got our topics for the day so tons

1:57 of stuff it was hard to pick out what is coolest this week but I think valve

2:02 Steam Machines finally coming also what

2:05 appears to be the mostly we hope final

2:08 version of the steam controller uh details being out there is pretty darn

2:13 exciting uh oh actually I didn't talk about this when I did my show

2:16 announcement a minute ago to upload to Youtube but uh valve also has that VR

2:20 headset that they've collaborated with HTC on that looks really exciting

2:24 they've got a new technology called Lighthouse that we'll talk a little bit

2:28 more about later um also this week at GDC NVIDIA launched the shield again

2:34 this time it's a completely different device and that old one has been renamed

2:38 and You' think they could just come up with another word anyway we we'll talk

2:41 about the shield TV console thing um the

2:45 Titan X NVIDIA's new flagship graphics card details are kind of all over the

2:50 place now and uh oh apparently Luke is ready to call in so maybe what I'll do

2:54 is I'll tease one more topic that's AMD's free sync is being officially

2:59 launched very very exciting to people like me who super duper believe in this

3:03 whole variable refresh rate thing um and then I'll go ahead I'll roll the intro

5:42 haven't even seen the actual twitch stream yet um but I I heard that we had

6:19 what's the vibe at PX how's it going um a lot of the vibe is that everyone

6:25 actually kind of wanted to be at GDC oh um yeah so with back when I was

6:31 like hey we should maybe check this out and then decided that it wasn't that

6:35 important that was apparently the wrong the wrong uh idea cuz like everything

6:40 happened at GDC GDC was bananas this

6:43 year yes and usually it's not really usually it's super developer heavy and

6:48 all that kind of stuff but like tons of Hardware stuff went down go figure like

6:53 that that's crazy to me I mean what what when has a graphics card ever launched

6:58 at GDC never yeah and like okay good I

7:01 had no idea because I was traveling that day so today I'm walking around the

7:05 floor and like I've heard rumors about it but I haven't I didn't know it

7:09 actually launched so multiple people are coming up to me like oh like what do you

7:13 think about it like uh are you have you secretly tested it yet and I'm sitting

7:16 there being like I have no idea what's happening I had no idea it was announced

7:20 or launched I'm I'm thinking that people are just going off of rumors so I'm

7:24 telling everyone no and everyone thinks I'm lying that's awesome like Oh no

7:28 you're under NDA whatever you've been testing this forever and I'm like no I

7:31 actually have no idea I literally know less about this than you do so I will

7:36 tell you that uh I know I know why

7:39 everyone thinks we're lying Tech gauge has like pictures of their card up

7:43 already oh my goodness here I'll I'll screen I'll screen share uh Tech gauge

7:47 up close look at GeForce GTX Titan x uh

7:51 hold on let me just make sure yep my my screen share is working I uninstalled

7:54 that creative control panel and it seems to be fine now oh nice so there it is it

7:58 comes comes in a box box uh looks like a graphics card um looks like it's using

8:04 the same cool they're just going to keep making more and more of the card Black

8:09 until until it's completely like next comes the io Shield I guess that'll be

8:13 the Titan x black edition yeah it'll be

8:16 completely black and then they're going to release the White Edition or

8:20 something yeah yeah or or or or or or or something and they'll just keep they'll

8:24 keep adding more black and like more green LEDs until we're suitably

8:28 impressed um so yeah the card has posed

8:31 on camera um I got a I got a message I got an email uh right before the show

8:36 where I asked is ours in the mail and I got a I got a confirmation so cool cool

8:44 driver cards in the mail just no nothing

8:48 yeah oh wow I see the lower third now that looks really sharp don't ask us if

8:52 we got time you know not none of that just put it in the mail we'll deal with

8:56 it y we don't have time like legitimately not at all I know that's

9:00 the best part of all of this I think that's a holiday while you're gone as if

9:05 that's going to be actually a holiday for me yeah you know what though I I filmed

9:12 four videos yesterday wow four and I

9:16 plan to do something similar on Monday I'm going to be prepping a lot of stuff

9:19 on on the weekend so I'm still gonna I'm still going to do my best to uh to to

9:23 get you guys actually maybe we should take this opportunity to uh to tell the

9:28 audience uh kind of what what's going on with why we need to be filming four

9:32 videos a day and stuff like that right now so um if you guys have heard of a

9:37 video platform called vessel um the first thing I need to say is don't sign

9:41 up for it because we don't have a referral link yet so wait for that yeah

9:48 so wait for that um but basically the

9:52 way vessel works is it's going to have um the same well in theory this is what

9:57 they're trying to do it's going to have the same creators as other online

10:01 platforms like YouTube and even some you know more traditional celebrities except

10:06 it'll offer Early Access and it's a subscription based service and then the

10:10 idea is that for the create what's in it for the creators is that people watching

10:15 on vessel come in at a at it's kind of like I think the best analogy is the one

10:20 that they gave us and it's like well think about this when you go watch a movie at the theater to go watch with

10:24 two people it's like you know 30 bucks plus popcorn plus whatever so that

10:29 that's that's if you want to see it like at the earliest possible opportunity

10:33 with the best possible experience then it's a lot more expensive and if you're

10:37 willing to wait a lot longer eventually you can see it on TV subsidized by ads

10:42 and that's that experience so vessel

10:45 will be it'll have things a little bit earlier but basically it's the same

10:49 content and everything that we release is still going to go to YouTube as well

10:53 so and there there will still be uh if you just ignore a vessel there will

10:58 actually be no noticeable CU we're always going to be uploading one video a

11:01 day to YouTube there will never be a gap there will never be a difference there

11:05 so if you're just like nope going to ignore it there will be no change

11:09 everything will be totally fine all the burden is on us to get a full week ahead

11:13 on content yeah before we go ahead and launch with uh with this platform so

11:18 we're still in talks with them nothing is signed nothing is confirmed but it

11:22 looks like we are it looks like we are probably uh we are probably we are

11:27 probably interested um saying no don't

11:30 do it there's literally no change on the YouTube side yep there will be no

11:35 difference at all you will get all good you will get every video in your inbox

11:41 every day yeah and there will never be a gap you will always be getting a video a

11:45 day uh WAN Show will always be archived

11:48 on YouTube the the like day at right

11:52 after it's live essentially yep um all all show coverage will be uploaded right

11:56 when it's supposed to yeah there will be

12:00 no noticeable difference that's fine people are acting like they have to

12:03 subscribe to vessel you do not have to subscribe to at all um if you choose to

12:07 then great if you don't then then don't

12:11 that's fine too so got people asking will the videos be the same uh yes they

12:15 will be the they will have the same content it'll be about the same stuff it

12:19 will literally be uploaded to YouTube

12:22 after so I guess that is that's pretty

14:04 I think that sort of it's a little bit sensationalist uh Republicans internet

14:10 Freedom Act would wipe out net neutrality this is not something that

14:13 the entire Republican party is behind at

14:16 all I believe it's about

14:20 36 30 31 not even a majority so 30 32 32

14:26 Republicans behind this it's um uh it's

14:29 Marsh is that percent or amount of people people okay so I have no idea so

14:36 basically uh Mara Blackburn is filing the internet Freedom a legislation she

14:41 calls the internet Freedom Act to be clear that does not mean this is being

14:45 signed into law but it's basically

14:48 throwing out pretty much everything the FCC is trying to do um ARS goes ahead

14:53 and brings up that in the latest election cycle Blackburn received

14:56 $25,000 from an AT&T political

15:59 like it's it's it's pretty bad um and so

16:02 I again so I don't know if I'm more upset that that she's bought or if I'm

16:05 more upset that it only costs $80,000 every you know four years or every

16:10 election cycle to uh to be that

16:13 completely in someone's pocket h i mean

16:17 it's kind of gross that is

16:21 sad so yeah see like seeing stuff like

16:25 this before House of Cards this is going to sound kind of weird before host of

16:29 cards I was always like wow like that's so crazy that this stuff could happen

16:34 and like I know it's just a show but now that I watch host of cards I'm like H

16:38 every single one of them is bought by

17:15 there's not actually a whole lot of new news here free sync works exactly the

17:19 way we thought it did um so variable refresh rate gaming that's a good thing

17:25 by the way it works anywhere from uh 30 to 44 FPS ymd uses cookies that's nice

17:41 day today no at all actually the rest of

17:45 the day has gone pretty well so far there we go there's your where where'

17:57 it I believe in you guys anywhere from 30 to 144 htz it can refresh it and you

18:04 gr tips you got to have a AMD GPU that supports it and a supported driver and a

18:10 and and a DisplayPort 1.2a display that

18:14 supports the optional adaptive sync spec

18:18 so in a nutshell it's exactly what we thought it's officially launching um so

18:24 there you go that's pretty much all I really have to say about that uh this

18:29 one's cool though valve has given us a date this was posted by Victoria Secret

18:34 for the official Steam Machines launch

18:38 uh also Source two with Vulcan support

18:42 is being announced so Steam Machines uh will include sort of the the remember

18:48 guys valve originally did like that steam machine concept thing where they

18:51 shipped out steam machines to a bunch of lucky people they're not doing their own

18:55 steam machine steam machine is just a computer from some someone like iby

19:00 power or Alienware that comes with Steam

19:03 OS installed on it or stay tuned for a video on

19:08 zotex yeah oh did you film that today I

19:11 did awesome so that is that is filmed and will be uploaded probably in the

19:14 first wave and yeah it's launching in November it actually looks super good

19:18 I'm not going to get too into it so that people actually watch the video but it

19:22 aesthetically looks really good and they're bundling a lot of the steam machines that come out around that time

19:27 with the steam controller which was also announced in its final form at GDC as

19:32 well yeah so uh let me see if I can actually I'm going to see if I can find

19:35 some picks of the uh the final steam controller uh GDC 20 2015 I'll just try

19:41 to find someone's article so they've made a lot of changes since the original

19:46 steam controller actually here I'll finish up talking about Steam Machines

19:49 first so to be clear they're just PCS

19:52 they're just computers they plug into your your TV or realistically you could

19:56 plug one into your monitor if you felt like it um they range in price from

20:00 around console price points to you know $4,000 $5,000 depending on how balls to

20:06 the wall you want to go with because they're just a computer because they're

20:09 just a computer um it'll launch alongside both the steam controller that

20:14 Luke just mentioned and steam link which

20:17 is actually kind of the the the the like

20:20 the the actual piece the biggest piece of news in my mind to be perfectly

20:25 honest steam link see you have been disconnected steam link is really cool

20:31 it's going to be 50 bucks apparently or I think I don't know if they actually

20:35 said 50 bucks I think they said priced the same as the controller which is 50

20:40 bucks so okay so I don't know maybe it ends up being 60 or like who knows uh

20:44 but it's yeah it's going to be around that $50 price point it supports 1080p

20:49 60 htz streaming and then basically it's

20:53 just a dedicated box for steam in home streaming so you can play games PP 60

21:00 yes so better than the doco I was just going to say oh oh

21:06 doco cheaper it's cheaper than the doku

21:10 doo thing and it's better yeah so doco 2 or doco Plus or

21:16 whatever it is that they've got planned is now officially dead um and it will it

21:21 won't just support game streaming it'll also support streaming your your desktop

21:25 from uh from another location so if you have so I mean we're all the parts of

21:30 the ecosystem are coming together the thing that was missing was a super

21:34 Cheapo chomecast level steam in home

21:37 streaming thing people have I think people have played around with it on the Raspberry Pi I don't think the

21:42 experience was that great I I haven't seen anything about Pi 2 uh but this at

21:47 50 bucks with an Ethernet port in a couple USB ports for controllers or

21:52 mouse and keyboard or whatever else and then HDMI looks like pretty much the

21:57 bee's knees awesome yeah at 50 bucks

22:01 that's awesome yeah that is exactly yeah

22:05 um so like to me that kills all but the

22:09 highest end uh TV attached devices that

22:14 are designed to stream from computers and I'll talk I'll talk more about

22:18 NVIDIA Shield soon because that still kind of has a place and there's a

22:22 discussion to be had there but would you buy a steam machine at this

22:26 point no uh I probably wasn't going to

22:29 buy a steam machine anyways because I want to make a mineral oil home theater

22:33 PC but now I don't know how applicable that is because this steam link thing

22:37 actually sounds awesome and like one really cool thing I I've been doing some

22:41 amount of research on receivers lately not a huge amount but a little bit um

22:47 and the second that you get to anything

22:51 that's going to be better than something that I could just buy from like a thrift

22:54 store or a secondhand store because receivers haven't really gotten that

22:58 much crazy better um as far as I can

23:01 tell is is stuff like networking mhm so

23:04 if I can just have one of these hooked up to my receiver and just Bluetooth to

23:08 that through my phone then I can just control the songs and stuff through

23:12 there and just use power amp on my phone pull it off my Nas because I now have a

23:16 connected thing like I don't know that's awesome yeah I uh like I am still one of

23:21 those people who has a media center PC but even I am looking at some of these

23:27 Solutions and kind of going well shoot am I ever actually sitting in front of

23:31 my computer upstairs while I sit on my couch um there's still a place like

23:37 people who want to run games at 4k on their 4K TV uh are not going to be

23:42 served by a device like this but I'm going to go ahead I'm going to I'm going

23:45 to like I'm going to say it high

23:48 contrast is way more important than 4K a

23:51 quality display from the kind of distance that I sit from my TV a quality

23:56 display is way more important than 4K 4K

23:59 has not tempted me to upgrade to it personally it's the kind of thing I love

24:04 to drool over and like walking around at CES with like 4K curved this and 4K OLED

24:10 that and like 4K up your butt whatever all the 4K is like exciting and sweet

24:16 and and like I geek out over that stuff but I'm not going to pay for it yet yeah

24:20 one thing I have to worry about with this is uh any input

24:24 latency so I H blah blah blah forget

24:28 what they were I forget what it is exactly but if it's anything like steam

24:33 in home streaming okay if you're like competitive CSG go dude like you or Ed

24:40 or whatever else no man but I'm I'm just

24:44 saying I'm just saying like uh like yeah like you're right like obviously like

24:48 playing Civ or whatever would be great on this uh Civ or XCOM anything that's

24:51 like turn based or whatever will be fine but how many games will be an issue I I

24:57 want to get my hands on it essentially and try like it it's it sounds really

25:01 compelling but I'm not sure if it's going to replace home theater PCs For Everyone is essentially what I'm trying

25:05 to say I you could do it for a lot of people like my dad would now be able to

25:10 ditch the home theater PC that he has um

25:13 because it's giant um and then use this

25:16 instead because that would be great because if my dad's going to play any

25:19 games it'll be like uh what is that game called Rocksmith I think it's Rocksmith

25:25 that game that you can play with an actual guitar okay kind of like rock

25:28 band yeah so he'll play like that or like a racing game so he'll probably be

25:32 fine with either one um so he could just

25:35 get the steam link but it might not work for everybody yeah so I'm uh I'm excited

25:40 to see where it goes I mean it's um it

25:43 it like you said it's not for everyone you want 4K you want like the absolute

25:47 best input latency you want this you want that okay fine well then you got to

25:51 pay but for 50 bucks for 1080p 60 with

25:55 you know sort of sub you know 60

25:58 milliseconds of of extra latency it's looking pretty compelling

26:03 and let's let's talk a little bit about the steam controller so this article is from IGN I'm just going to pull up this

26:08 this uh this still of of what we're looking at here so now the original the

26:12 original steam controller just had the two haptic feedback pads and valve's

26:17 concept was that they wanted you to uh

26:20 use that as your button inputs and as

26:24 your d-pad SL joysticks analog stick

26:28 whatever you want to call it they wanted all the control to be through the haptic

26:31 pads now it's still got that and they

26:35 are that sort of I we've seen a lot of different iterations with things like

26:39 the positions swapped around for a joystick versus a haptic pad or buttons

26:43 here buttons there um so now this is it

26:47 it has the two haptic pads on the outside in what look like the more

26:51 ergonomic positions and then it has a single joystick on the left and an

26:56 abxy layout of butt butons that looks like it's ripped straight off an Xbox

27:00 controller with with a steam button in the middle uh select and start or back

27:04 and forward or whatever you want to call those and then four trigger buttons on

27:08 the shoulders and then I believe there's two squeeze buttons on the bottom as

27:12 well Luke what's your take on this you've seen it right uh I I've seen it

27:17 yeah I have it up on stream right now actually because I'm trying to follow

27:21 along on the stream because I I don't really know what you're looking at uh

27:24 awesome I don't know I I am probably still going to stick with my like 360

27:29 controller thing um and I'll I'll maintain what I said actually when they

27:34 first started showing off steam controller things which is it might make

27:37 sense for games that I normally wouldn't want to play with a

27:41 controller yeah so so most games that I would want to play like an action game

27:44 if I want to play Assassin's Creed a lot of times I'll play it with a controller

27:47 um I didn't play shadow of morar with controller but I heard it was a pretty

27:51 good experience uh stuff like racing games I would always play with a

27:54 controller yeah third person's always pretty good with a controller um

28:58 no we are not teasing that that is going to be freaking awes is it going to be as

29:02 awesome as I think um the first couple I

29:05 think I was too tame and I've I've been

29:09 I've been uh I've had to apologize to a few people now nice oh I'm excited those

29:15 are going to be awesome videos freaking awesome part of part of

29:19 my problem right now is that uh I'm

29:22 trying not to leak this too much no one is lashing back at all really so it's

29:28 just really awkward yeah nice they Hammer into

29:32 someone and they'll just be like oh

29:37 okay like crap okay that's awkward I

29:41 don't know if that's better or worse okay okay you guys these videos are on

29:44 the schedule for I think the first one comes out Monday midnight and then I

29:49 think the second one comes out Tuesday midnight so stay tuned because these are

29:54 going to be awesome videos of basically Luke going Supreme troll on people it's

29:59 going to be it's going to be amazing um all right let's uh let's go ahead and

30:03 move on I guess oh source 2 will be free to all content developers kind of a big

30:07 deal that's awesome probably shouldn't miss that um so I guess I I would like

30:13 to to draw a bit of a conclusion about steam machine here before we move on

30:17 though um I'm going to go ahead I'm going to say dead in the water um About

30:23 Steam OS uh yeah valve announced a lot

30:27 of upcoming game GES that are going to be getting Linux support which is super

30:31 cool um I I don't understand the

30:36 relevance as a standalone product that exists in a vacuum Steam OS and a steam

30:42 machine that runs Steam OS makes sense

30:45 because it's like okay I don't have to pay for an OS I just saved some money on

30:49 my computer y but with the uh with the

30:55 uh the steam Link at 50 bucks delivering

30:58 in my mind 90% of the experience of what a dedicated steam box can do because

31:03 remember you're not buying a TV with 144 Herz refresh rate there is no compelling

31:08 reason to have higher than 60 FPS on

31:12 your TV anyway we're talking about a little bit of extra latency most couch

31:17 optimized games we're not playing csgo on the couch most couch optimized games

31:21 are going to be a more casual experience y anyway so Assassin's Creed or or game

32:22 they've been iterating so Shield console is 200 bucks and it doesn't stream games

32:27 in 4K but it'll do 1080p 60 games if I

32:31 if I recall correctly hold on I might be wrong I I might I might be wrong uh

32:36 capable of decoding 4K 60fps so I actually I can't think of a of a clear

32:41 reason why it couldn't actually support 4K game stream at some point because it

32:47 can decode 4K 60fps so this will handle

32:51 all your 4K Netflix it'll handle any

32:54 other 4K Youtube it'll handle any other kind of 4K streaming service

32:58 and then again for games I don't think

33:02 that 4K gaming is there yet personally

33:05 gaming at 4K especially the latest AAA titles is not a tremendous experience so

33:11 the additional Network load the additional processing load the

33:15 additional Hardware that you have to buy for your computer 4K 4K streamed gaming

33:29 well it's happening just not to the degree that it should be it's it's not

33:32 good enough that I'm ready to go for it personally I would just run 1080P and

33:40 dips and stutters because it's not like yeah it's not like you're getting

33:44 free sync or g-sync on your TV so you're going to see that stutter it's going to

33:48 happen and I would rather have the lower resolution than the hi hiccups and

34:00 media media experience and can also do

34:07 there are com more compelling options

34:11 than a steam machine all over the place and even from valve

34:15 themselves so I mean I might try out the controller just to give it a shot I

34:20 we've yet to see in my mind we've yet to see a controller better than the Xbox

34:23 360 the Xbox one one is okay I don't like the dual shock shape I get cramps

34:28 in my hands eventually NVIDIA's controller is okay it's not better than

34:33 an Xbox 360 controller by any means I like the integrated touchcreen that's

34:36 cool so I really want to see if valve

34:39 managed to figure out the tactile feedback of the buttons but there's a

34:43 thing I already really don't like about the Valve controller or the steam

34:46 controller and that is the positioning of the buttons and the the joystick and

34:51 also the fact that it outright doesn't have a d-pad um you know if you want to

34:55 if you want to play any emulated older console games or or anything like that

34:58 well go die in a fire because you're not

35:01 doing it on that controller it's not happening and that's something that I

35:06 actually do you know I probably do more Retro Gaming on my TV than I do current

35:12 gaming on my TV so that's a big deal for me I do most of my current gaming on my

35:17 portable someone says face it Linus you don't like any controllers absolutely

35:21 not true the Super Nintendo controller is exceptional I have like 15-year-old

35:26 Super Nintendo control well how old would they be older than that 20 I have 20-year-old Super Nintendo controllers

35:31 that still have great tactile response on the buttons and d-pad show me another

35:37 controller that has held up that well to the test of time I also really like the

35:41 Xbox 360 controller although the d-pad is garbage as the twitch chat is

35:45 exploding with so I have an SNES controller next to my uh that's actually

35:50 plugged directly into my media PC and then I have an Xbox 360 wireless

35:54 controller that is wirelessly connected to it and that takes care of all my

35:58 controller needs yeah um so we'll get into the NVIDIA

36:04 thing a little bit more lately or L lately later later y later uh mantle SDK

36:10 will be available to everyone this month so that's cool if you're into that that

36:44 Mantle's going to have to differentiate itself in a pretty spectacular way and

36:48 AMD seems determined for it to not be very different from DirectX and openg G

36:58 industry and created hype amongst users it created user demand for these

37:02 low-level apis that most users would never even have an inkling of an

37:07 understanding as to why they were important and AMD did a great thing for

37:11 the industry there but directx12 is going to have to completely fall on its

37:16 face for mantle to be relevant at all moving forward and they had directx12

37:22 demos at GDC as well it's looking they

37:25 like side by side between 11 and 12 and that were actually pretty impressive I

38:18 its battery life although there's a new rumor that says five hours of screen on

38:32 watch might not be as much of a turd as I was uh sort of predicting that it

38:35 would be if Android Wear devices can be used crossplatform Apple's going to have

38:40 a real hard time selling me an Apple Watch that is for sure because

38:44 especially at the prices we're looking at there's rumored pricing for the Apple

38:47 watch sports is rumored to be 3.49 with the metal versions coming in

38:52 at I think it was $600 or $700 and the

38:55 All Gold version over 15,000

38:58 if apple is going to expect me to spend $700 on a watch then I'm going to I'm

39:03 going to use whatever damn phone I want and I'm going to have my notification

39:07 synced damn it that is how it is going to work otherwise that is uh that is a

39:12 lot to ask me to commit to in one ecosystem right yeah um so I mean what

39:20 else is there to to really say about that uh the developer claims that no

39:25 jailbreaking was required in order to make that

41:39 could actually have multiple smart straps depending on what you're doing

42:39 pebble was not as complete or polished a product as this and you look at what

42:43 developers were able to do with that thing yeah there was not a lot of

42:50 talking now we're talking it's got a microphone it's got smart straps I mean

42:54 are we going to see smart straps with speakers cameras I I don't know oh who

43:02 have no idea are we going to see smart straps with touch interfaces so you

43:06 could like do something uh they're suggesting things like GPS and NFC um

43:12 could be built into this like instead of this is so smart instead of putting all

46:49 Ryan Smith on an ACH inid announces GeForce GTX Titan X and it has a spec

46:54 bre breakdown that is one I'm looking for

47:02 speculation is that uh it is going to no

47:05 we know it has a 12 gig frame buffer okay so here you can see what we know

47:09 and what's a question mark Ryan Smith's a good guy he doesn't mind me using his

47:12 chart um so he's guessing at 384bit

47:16 memory interface and this is this is a very good bet based on that Medium siiz

47:21 Maxwell that we already have in the GTX 980 and 970 uses a 256-bit interface and

47:27 then some Tom Foolery with the uh with the 970 to partially disable whatever

47:32 anyway it's a 256bit interface for most of the memory on the 970 and all the 980

47:36 so in order to get more memory bandwidth on Titan X either they're going to clock

47:41 it higher which to my knowledge um there's nothing available with higher

47:46 than 7 GHz gddr5 that's basically the ceiling for that technology we know that

47:50 Invidia doesn't have any kind of stacked memory technology coming out on Titan X

47:55 that would have been rumored at some point hasn't been so we're guessing 384bit we

48:00 know it has 12 gigs of vram we know the transistor count is 8 billion making

48:05 this big Maxwell you know the supercomputer Tesla Maxwell but for

48:09 gamers um it's getting 96 RS that's a

48:13 guess from Ryan Smith um and should be

48:16 on the same manufacturing process as uh gtx980 because we haven't heard anything

48:21 about NVIDIA launching anything higher than that and launch price R like Ryan's

48:27 estimate here a large number large number yeah I have heard everything from

48:34 ,000 to $1,400 in the rumor mill and I

48:39 have no knowledge whatsoever I mean when Titan launched $1,000 for a

48:45 gaming card was insane and

48:48 the sort of the answer from NVIDIA was

48:51 well this isn't a gaming card this is a Cuda development and like dual Precision

48:57 you know compute card and rendering workstation the Titan X is not

50:18 restored if it launched at a thousand instead of more because looking at what

50:22 we know about Titan X specs and what we

50:25 can estimate based on Titan versus uh

53:37 handheld was called the shield and then they renamed it Shield portable when

53:42 they launched The Shield tablet and now we're getting the NVIDIA Shield which is

53:47 a console it does not have a display I believe it comes yeah so it's priced at

53:52 $1.99 with a game controller and uh 50

53:56 games including Crisis 3 and Borderlands the Pre-Sequel I'm assuming that's the

54:00 grid subscription that you get with it and I'm not sure how long you get a grid

54:05 subscription with it because I know that they were talking about at some point uh

54:08 Shield portable and Shield tablet getting six months or something like

54:12 that three months maybe some whatever they were getting like a window this one

54:16 I don't know maybe it just comes with a grid subscription anyway so they up this

54:20 was posted by giving TNT on the Forum ah thank you so so Shield is going to have

54:26 have a Tegra X Tegra X1 processor so

54:30 NVIDIA is claiming uh twice the power of an Xbox 360 at 1 of the power

54:35 consumption it is going to be capable of decoding 4K at 60 FPS it is going to be

54:41 the first 4K Android TV and it's it's

54:44 really funny someone put together a hilarious cutup of Jensen saying TV TV

54:50 TV TV TV TV TV like it seemed like when

54:54 you watch it like that it seems like every word out of his freaking mouth during this thing must have been TV TV

55:03 TV like so they they're really pitching it as like an Android TV device uh

55:09 that's capable of 4K but it's also um it's also very much a console so

55:16 uh Razer was showing off in their suite and I really do think razer's console is

55:21 completely dead in the water at this point um if it's an extra if it's an

55:26 extra 100 bucks for this thing which is

55:30 not running a Snapdragon Ada whatever the heck and uh and is going to be able

55:35 to legitimately run some serious games at 1080P and some not serious games at

55:40 who knows maybe you can run games at 4K as well because it does have HDMI 2.0

55:44 out so you can legit hook this up to your 4K TV and have that 4K experience

55:51 um and so anyway so it's got the GPU horsepower and sorry right back to the

55:54 razor Booth so they showed off a really cool cool Arena fighter based game that

55:58 was for concurrent players um this is

56:02 what Android consoles have been building to Android consoles if they get game

56:07 support for actual legitimate multiplayer games up till now there

56:11 hasn't been a whole lot of like sit around with your Bros and play games on

56:15 controllers Android games if NVIDIA is

56:19 pushing this and boy have they ever demonstrated that they're pushing this

56:22 ever since they announced console mode for the original shield and and then it

56:26 was like this stupid kind of experience

56:29 where you have to get like an on the-go adapter and like a USB Ethernet thing

56:35 and then you could run 1080p 60 instead of 720p and like you had to you know

56:42 charge it up before you did it and then okay well hold on maybe if you use a

56:45 splitter so I use a splitter in a powered Hub in order to charge the shield and run it at the same time but

56:50 and then and then it's like okay so yeah that's like pretty doofy then we got

56:54 Shield tablet where they were really pitching using it as a console and hey

56:59 now we've got support for multiple wireless controllers we've got our own controller there's all this awesome

57:03 stuff NVIDIA didn't have their own controller before they are pushing hard

57:06 so now there's a dedicated console it's 40 plus hours of battery life on the

57:10 controller it comes with a remote that includes voice activation so you can use

57:14 all your Google Now nonsense with it um

57:18 and grid Grid's a big deal um NVIDIA is claiming 150 milliseconds of latency

57:23 playing games remotely which again no CSO forget it not going to happen but

57:29 for racing games for third person you know adventure games that's going to be

57:34 very playable and I know this because I've been in the grid beta for over a

57:38 year now it is surprisingly not bad very

57:41 surprisingly not bad and I'm not as close to an NVIDIA data center as some

57:45 people would be once they start putting grid centers around the planet we are

57:52 going to be talking about especially in in places like in small dense places

57:57 like I don't know the UK or Japan you

58:00 could be within a distance that would give you you know fiber latencies in the

58:05 you know 5 millisecond or lower range of

58:09 of a grid Center if it comes to that and it may actually for many gamers

58:14 especially casual ones who might not play a particular game like that's

58:18 something to consider for the gamers that are saying you know online

58:21 streaming gaming is never going to happen not everyone buys a game for 60

58:25 bucks and then puts 150 hours into it yeah some people are more like a casual

58:31 browser and they don't want to buy every game but if they have you know 50 games

58:37 or 100 or 150 or 500 games at their fingertips they might play this one for

58:41 an hour or they might play that one for a couple hours and this is going to

58:44 really appeal to those people yeah and

58:48 they should just start installing them on all the Tesla charging

58:52 stations ha that' actually be kind of awesome s like play games everywhere

58:58 yeah great apparently the grid service is going to come with unreleased games

59:02 that will be on Shield at launch remember NVIDIA's got those deep

59:06 developer relationships yeah they do imagine that and what's also really cool

59:12 about grid and again why I want home grid this is still not the grid I'm

59:17 looking for I want home grid where you just like Pile in a pile of gpus and

59:23 then you have basically unlimited horsepower that you can up however you

59:27 want um I mean you we could potentially

59:30 be looking at you know every game on Max no matter what because they can throw as

59:33 much GPU horsepower at it as they want and yeah it'll be it'll be 1080p uh

59:38 1080p 60 I believe is the premium service with the normal service being

59:42 720p 30 so for small people with smaller

59:45 TVs effectively Max details though it's

66:31 console grid is the console that Android console is almost like hedging their

66:42 about that anymore so you can play Android games on it or or whatever but

66:47 you're going to need this to get grid and people are going to buy it yeah very

66:53 interesting to me especially if you look at how competitive their products are

66:58 already with other devices like Shield tablet is a good tablet Shield tablet

92:28 posted on that website then that would be like like a a like a veracity score

92:33 like that would be a truth score and then the higher a websites or web pages

92:38 truth score the higher it would be ranked because the better the likelihood

92:45 and that seems to be how they are planning to have this work and this is

92:50 incredibly cool I there's a couple so you know sites like the onion are

92:54 probably going to have a much harder time getting good search rankings because you know a lot of that a lot of
