0:00 so lius Media Group decided to go on a big group trip to Mexico and I thought I
0:03 would go over a few of the handy accessories I take with me everywhere I
0:06 bring a camera as either a Justus in case item or something I cannot travel
0:11 without so here is Handy Tech under 100 travel
0:22 edition first up we have the black widow spider holster this is my favorite way
0:27 to carry the Stills camera I bring with me everywhere the Fujifilm
0:31 x100t how it works is you attach the mini ball joint to the 1 quarter2 thread
0:35 at the bottom of your camera then you simply Slide the ball joint into the
0:39 holster as it clicks into place the holster conveniently slips onto most
0:43 belts but if your belt is too big for some reason you can always use the
0:47 included belt in the kit the kit I got also came with a soft pad that goes
0:51 under your camera so when you're walking around it isn't hitting your jeans or
0:55 pants and potentially scratching your camera so getting into usage you simply
0:59 push that on the red lever on the left of the Black Widow pull your camera out
1:03 take your shots and slide it right back in this has really simplified the way I
1:07 travel with a camera for Stills I had this with me on a recent trip to Japan
1:12 and it was particularly nice to always have a camera with me without carrying
1:15 it in my hands or in a large backpack
1:18 and had my camera been in a backpack all the time I would have missed many
1:21 opportunities to take a good photo you might be thinking well why wouldn't you
1:25 just use a strap most cameras come with them for free well personally I find
1:29 find included camera straps intrusive when moving around since they are not
1:33 secured close to your body which can lead to them accidentally hitting
1:36 something as you're walking falling forward when you're trying to tie your
1:39 shoes or just getting in your way when you're shooting if you happen to have to
1:43 take it off your neck for a shot which I have done many times in the past when
1:46 using a neck strap so for me the Black Widow is a great solution to have an
1:50 easy handsfree way to carry your camera around everywhere you go I was able to
1:54 go from taking pictures of everyone ziplining in Mexico to going across
1:58 myself with zero hassle in between and that is the best thing you can ask of a
2:03 carrying solution for your camera something that doesn't slow you down but
2:06 also doesn't keep you from missing a shot as it happens next up we have the
2:10 zoom quick release adapters I've used these countless times in the past and
2:14 they have saved me a lot of time traditional lens filters are threaded to
2:18 screw onto the front of your lens the zoom adapters however are taking a
2:23 different two-part approach the first part screws onto the back of the filter
2:27 that you want to use the second part screws onto the lens where your filter
2:30 would usually screw into then thanks to the magic of wonderful magnets your
2:35 filter becomes incredibly easy to take on and off I have legitimately gotten
2:39 shots I would not have gotten if I had taken the time to screw on ND filters
2:43 onto the lens while something was happening the magnets on the filters are
2:46 also surprisingly strong so you don't have to worry about them falling off if
2:49 you're moving quickly the adapters come in varying filter and lens sizes from 49
2:54 mm up to 82 mm which will fit most standard photography lenses moving on on
3:00 to perhaps my favorite small camera accessory of all time this little quick
3:04 release I found on eBay I'm always looking for ways to save time while
3:08 making videos and these have saved me plenty of time over the years if you
3:13 ever make use of external monitors tiny LED lights or on camera microphones
3:17 youve probably used a friction ARM like this one usually what you have to do
3:21 with these friction arms is find a point on your rig screw it all the way in then
3:25 doing the same with whatever add-on you're using on the other end this is
3:29 both an an and slow process so these
3:32 little quick release plates take the place of screwing into a mounting point
3:35 on your camera setup first you put the receiving end on your rig then you take
3:39 the other end and put it on the ARM or some other quarter2 thread that you want
3:43 to use the result is something that is far faster to add to your rig and take
3:47 off when needed I have these little guys on every external monitor we have in the
3:52 office and it has made things much faster when switching through setups
3:56 moving on to the full disclosure section of Handy Tech videos which is pretty
4:00 simple since all the items included were purchased by me for my personal use or
4:04 for use around the office the spider holster is from Amazon the quick release
4:08 plates are from eBay and the zoom adapters are from B&H Photo speaking of
