so today I'll be unboxing a bit of a relic now while this product is not that
0:11
old it is still a bit of a rarity
0:14
because not very many people bought them this is the OC Eno this is a USB 3
0:20
Portable solid state drive this was first shown at CES 2010 and check this
0:26
out check this out this is how long this unit has been sitting in our warehouse
0:31
see the dust on my finger yeah disgusting okay so this is
0:38
the 128 gig version and what ocz was
0:41
attempting to accomplish with this particular product was a way for users
0:47
to have a portable USB flash drive that
0:51
is as durable as a USB flash drive but
0:55
offers a much larger amount of storage so when this drive was released the
1:00
biggest USB drives were in the 32 gig range so while the size of this device
1:05
is larger than a USB drive the speed is
1:08
vastly superior okay it offers uh read and
1:12
write speeds up to I guess hopefully it'll tell us at some point because I
1:15
don't actually know um but dramatically Superior speeds and larger capacity but
1:22
the drawback is that it is also significantly larger than a USB flash
1:27
drive so here I'm going to show you guys the Eno
1:31
here it is so this uses a 1.8 in satat
1:35
two drive this is an indel linkx drive
1:39
inside a very slick aluminum enclosure
1:43
so this is a very classy looking product it's got a custom interface on the back
1:47
so that is a USB 3 interface that is somehow I guess adapted for SATA power
1:52
and data let's let's have a look at the cable that's included and see just what
1:56
kind of fancy schmancy cable we're dealing with here because I've never
2:01
seen this cable before here we go oh
2:04
okay okay okay no the reason I'm not familiar with this is just cuz I haven't
2:07
used much usb3 stuff this is just a USB 3 mini cable there you go so micro USB 3
2:15
is what they're calling this and that is B so uh that's super speed usb3 so
2:19
remember USB 3 is up to 10 times the
2:22
speed of usb2 all right it comes with a nice high
2:26
quality uh very flexible cable here us
2:29
B3 connector on the one end and then we've got the micro connector on the
2:33
other end and then um actually hold on give me two
2:37
seconds so I just had to create a partition on the drive so I'm going to
2:40
go ahead and take my benchmarking and driver's folders uh which total about 5
2:45
gigs I'm going to copy them over to local dis y bam so fast okay that was
2:51
just the the burst at the beginning so the actual sustain transfer speeds that
2:54
we can get out of this are around 130 to
2:58
is megabytes per second very very respectable so we're pretty
3:02
much uh up there at the limits for uh
3:05
USB 3 uh that's about oh yeah cameraman
3:09
was zoomed in too far that's why it was blurry um yeah so that's pretty much all
3:14
I have to say about that very fast um
3:18
not a lot of people bought them but you know it was pretty expensive at the time
3:21
I think the 128 gig Drive upon release was in the $400 to $500 range so thank
