0:01 all right guys so sorry for the uh slight disorganization getting things
0:04 started today we've had a bit of a honestly the 400 p.m start time is a bit
0:10 of a challenge it's hard to hit um people are like oh well why don't you
0:13 just set everything up and then it's already there when you get back and I'm
0:17 just like you know we only have so many cameras and microphones yeah
0:23 one we have
0:27 yeah one camera so when we take that
0:31 camera with us to shoot NC Tech tips on Fridays and when we go in early and try
0:36 and get all of our stuff done in time to be back in time to live stream we
0:41 actually have to Boll dude he like
0:46 playing with velcro straps over there people are like audio crackling I'm like
0:50 no just be roll no just be roll just be roll you know what you know I okay we
0:54 have a ton of topics today it's actually going to be a really good show but what
0:59 I want to start with is the level of holy crap what is wrong
1:04 with Linus's life right now because we are in the midst of a bunch of projects
1:10 so as you may or may not know there may or may not be some product launches
1:14 coming up very soon which makes a lot of sense because computex is coming up soon
1:18 we're gearing up for that we've been preparing that build guide that we
1:21 launched last night that apparently you guys loved which just warms my heart of
1:26 course but you are not going to believe
1:30 what my garage and what my house look like because we're also moving in the
1:34 next couple weeks yeah so there's all this stuff so check this out check this
1:38 out uh slick you'll have to do the audio because I'm going to be behind the
1:41 camera all right I don't know what are we looking at all right we're going to look around so my desk here that people
1:47 usually see on the set got completely removed because this is where the Intel
1:51 build guide actually was so we had to move my entire desk and everything over
1:57 into this corner which is where we usually fit fil Tech quickies and fast
2:01 as poss but then that once we finally moved my desk back can't also be used
2:07 for that because now we're using it as a photo booth oh yeah right here I should show
2:11 that so there's the photo booth lineus is showing now so we we made like this
2:15 little photo booth thing on the floor so we could take nice pictures of products
2:18 yeah oh and we had to have this white thing on the floor so we could do those pictures for the build guide the white
2:22 thing on the floor is the p uh when when we did the pictures the in the pre-roll
2:26 for the build guide where lonus is sitting there and all his cloes keep on Chang like crazy that's why we needed
2:31 the white on the floor so we could get a full body shot and the back background
2:34 was consistent I think he's going to come all the way around now here's the
2:39 Shelf where I put the model M which is
2:42 freaking awesome B rolles kind of hiding
2:46 over there there's some awesome Corsair showcase things that we're going to be
2:49 doing fairly soon holy crap Boll the lens keep saying
2:54 cannot execute function because of the condition of the something bad is
2:57 happening not entirely sure what that means that is really annoying is it
3:01 because of the aperture thing no it's normal that's when you press the control
3:04 everyone's very interested in what you're not doing right now okay well
3:09 whatever okay so then there's this this is our table this is the table that we
3:12 filmed the build guide on because I had to shove it over there and bring all the
3:16 stuff over there so I can keep on working and then here's the MacBook from
3:19 the Samsung upgrade your Mac there's the MacBook from the Samsung upgrade your
3:22 Mac video also on techi and here's just
3:25 a whole bunch of stuff that we can't really do anything with because we're
3:30 moving soon so there's no reason of to actually properly organize it just more
3:35 stuff there's b-roll and we're coming back so welcome
3:41 to the insanely disorganized room that is the entire Studio that is also known
3:46 as Linus's garage everyone's like die Mac
3:52 die that's why it's sitting on a very high unstable point it will probably die
3:56 we'll be returning it at some point so whatever of course we're not doing that
4:01 course wait what what what are you talking about I don't know um Honestly
4:05 though okay so you've seen my house right does this even compare to what's
4:10 going on at my house no there's like a bed
4:16 randomly yeah there's like the top mattress for a bed just sitting on like
4:21 the stairs between his living room and his family or his living room in his
4:24 dining room because in a video he had to
4:27 like push me and I had to go flying so instead of falling on the stairs I was
4:31 going to fall on like the top part of the mattress but then that didn't actually get put back so it's just kind
4:36 of sitting there it's just kind of there honestly it's amazing my wife hasn't
4:39 killed me like it is amazing I think if
4:42 we didn't have a plan to move everything out you might be dead I think that is
4:46 quite possible the only thing keeping you alive is that promise that it's all
4:50 going away soon yeah and that the garage
4:53 will be salvaged back and yeah we're really excited about moving it's going
4:57 to be kind of Awesome um so anyways why don't we start okay so
5:03 Steve doto Our Guest has been bumped again to next week sorry about that and
5:08 I wanted to clarify something as well last week we said The Big Bang Theory
5:13 had a laugh track and we complained about how their laugh track was stupid
5:16 and we were wrong Big Bang Theory is filmed in front of a live audience of
5:21 hyenas so honestly like I hadn't I
5:25 hadn't watched okay to be clear guys I love the Big Bang Theory I've seen every
5:29 episode from the first four seasons like at least three or four times love Big
5:34 Bang Theory do not like the constant laughter I was watching an episode last
5:39 night one of the newer ones and it's just like someone walks in the room and
5:43 it's like why it's not funny yet it's live
5:49 audience laughter one thing we talked about before was contagious laughter so
5:54 someone sees the person enter the room this is the first time they've seen that
5:57 actor they find that actor hilarious the person enters the room they start
6:01 laughing everyone else starts
6:05 laughing he did start laughing a little bit cuz you look
6:10 ridiculous there you go turns out it works so uh yeah so are bad but that
6:17 really still doesn't change how I feel about like laugh tracks because you know
6:22 what like okay here example of of a show
6:25 where it was filmed in front of a live audience but the laughter didn't detract
6:29 from it All in the Family oh God I don't watch TV you're so
6:34 young it's an old show it's a classic I don't watch TV oh anyway okay watched
6:38 less TV when I was a kid All in the Family filmed live amazing and you know
6:44 what I okay yeah you know what I'm not gonna I'm not GNA I'm not going to get
6:48 get into this anymore why don't we do a little bit of Twitter Q&A sure Logitech
6:53 g70 Plus versus Corsair k95 just a
6:56 comparison to the features not the switches
7:00 slick looking at you you take that one you want me to take that one it says not
7:04 the switches you don't even know the features do you that's why you don't
7:07 want to not really of the k95 okay well the the k95 has some cool stuff so you
7:12 can turn all of the keys on and off individually do you remember seeing that
7:16 at CES yeah so you can do your Zone lighting however you want um however
7:22 logitech's software is second to none
7:25 their gaming software is outstanding they've been working on it longer than
7:28 anyone else I mean that's another thing Corsair's has improved so much so much
7:34 since they first launched the k90 and the k60 but you know logitech's Logitech
7:40 um Logitech I mean they're both Built Well
7:44 I'd say if anything the k95 probably has a better build feel to it just because
7:47 of the aluminum back plate but honestly saying compare these mechanical
7:51 keyboards and don't talk about switches it's just sort of like wrong uh someone
7:55 says finally you shaved good work uh it's coming back beard is is not staying
8:00 away guaranteed beard is coming back also one more thing to note about the
8:03 g710 plus is there's black O-rings under the key caps that they don't about but
8:08 they are there and they're very nice and it makes it quieter and just sort of
8:11 more better oh it feels really good but they don't really call that out so just
8:15 the heads up because they're awesome my 3570k has hit TJ Maxx sometimes over a
8:21 few times at what temperature does degradation occur um degradation is a
8:24 function of temperature and voltage and
8:28 so basically if you're over vol to the point where you're reaching TJ Maxx I
8:31 can pretty much tell you right now your CPU is degrading in some way I actually
8:35 got a um I got a message from someone I used to work with at NC who is no longer
8:40 there um and he he was like oh yeah my overclock is not working anymore is it
8:44 possible that it degraded and I was like yeah it is real it does happen my
8:48 opteron 165 well first it stopped
8:52 overclocking as well and then it stopped working entirely but that's sort of
8:56 whole other thing but yeah degradation is real and it is best to keep it at a
9:02 reasonable temperature this is why when I recommend running Prime 95 and I say
9:07 you know what 85 degrees is probably fine it's because it's never going to be
9:10 loaded like that unless you're doing hardcore video rendering or you know
9:16 Graphics work and even then you render a job you output a job and it's done these
9:20 are consumer grade devices they are designed for Consumer workloads where
9:24 you load up a game if you're priming at 85° you're gaming at 70 I can tell that
9:29 much maybe not 70 but it's a lot lower and it's not going to damage
9:34 anything Rodrigo says first live stream and it's my
9:38 birthday uh you know who else's birthday it is the original NC cameraman so to be
9:44 clear guys b-roll slick Diesel and
9:47 cameraman are all different people okay so the cameraman is actually
9:53 a specific person not necessarily whoever's operating the camera so it's
9:57 his birthday tomorrow so there you go happy birthday original NCIX cameraman
10:02 got I get a shout out on my birthday on Sunday dude how am I going to remember
10:05 that by Sunday but shout out now shout out now yay yeah yay the actual date
10:10 doesn't matter that much hi from Paris hello uh I know it's free and all but a
10:15 simple sorry where late is in order um I did send out a sorry where late I guess
10:19 you're not following on Twitter he did message you probably just
10:24 didn't see it so Twitter is here Twitter
10:27 is free too free notifications for our
10:31 free lateness yes we are late for free
10:34 and we can tell you that we're late for free as well and what we'll do to make
10:37 it up to you guys is a nice free apology
10:40 we're sorry for being late today followed up by free videos followed up
10:43 by more free videos you know what let's do our first live stream topic um you
10:48 know what let's start with speaking of free things there's the free lonus Tech
10:52 tips Forum guys join it's free and
10:56 speaking of free things on the lineus tech tips forum free Far Cry 3 blood
11:01 Dragon okay so there's a few things like oh I didn't get it I didn't get it and
11:04 free freaking everything else because here's another random free key thank you
11:09 got it it goes on for Pages here's some more random stuff here's some random
11:13 free stuff you know what guys I've said it before and I'll say it again this is
11:17 the best community on the internet we love the community that's going on here
11:21 people are helpful and supportive and respectful and there are exceptions and
11:25 we're dealing with them but by and large it is the best Forum Community I've ever
11:31 been a part of and you guys should go be a part of it too yeah anyway I'm not
11:34 going to harp on it too much because we talk about it a lot but speaking on
11:38 things that we harp on too much EA did some good stuff yeah EA did
11:42 something good so I'm gonna let you handle this one I think you found this
11:46 article okay so they disabled online pass a lot of the only computer people
11:50 around might be like what the heck is online pass should I leave up he-man's
11:54 sexy bicep for everyone to enjoy while you talk leave it right there it's so
11:57 manly um okay okay so online pass
12:01 basically you got it with a game when you bought a console game um and it
12:04 enabled you to play online basically the idea was if you resold the game in any
12:08 way people would have to Reby the online pass um which was is like the most
12:12 horrible thing ever it's crazy and if you think about it if someone's buying a
12:16 used game they're probably not buying it for the multiplayer aspect or maybe they
12:20 are why not maybe they are yeah I mean if you're going to call a physical copy
12:25 a license then you better call it a license it better be a license for
12:29 everything that it is yeah but if you think about it EA closed something down
12:33 that probably means they weren't making a ton of money off it just to be
12:36 completely honest like I know this is something good that they did but just to be completely honest they probably
12:40 weren't making that much money on it so my idea is that when people are buying
12:44 used games it's months and months down the line so they're assuming that the
12:47 online community isn't going to be as big anymore online communities for some
12:50 smaller games like um and why did they sell the game in the first place if it
12:55 was a heavily multiplayer based title unless things were on the decline
12:59 yep I see so you had some examples where you've encountered this in the past did
13:03 you not me yeah no console I thought you
13:08 said your dad had to do something or something or maybe that Boll was that
13:12 you oh never mind it's I definitely have not okay well at any rate so so what
13:17 would happen is you'd sell the game and' be like hey hey now you have to buy this
13:21 thing to be able to play online so it was just kind of trashy no one liked
13:25 it most things with yeah um so yeah they
13:29 ditched it probably because they weren't making money definitely because stated
13:33 by them because no one liked it yeah so the article the article does go on to
13:38 sort of take a couple shots at EA which we've never really been known to do in
13:42 the past but uh basically blah blah blah I've been a longstanding initially
13:47 launched oh yeah this is on destructoid.com just so you know guys if you want to go check out the whole
13:50 article uh aha EA remains committed to
13:54 its other content plans including buckets of downloadable extras and the
13:58 packaging of games as services so let's
14:01 talk about downloadable extras are microtransactions going anywhere no or
14:06 are they ever going to go away they're not going away they're definitely going somewhere why aren't they going away
14:10 because if people hate it so much how is
14:13 it that game developers don't have to just stop doing it because people hate
14:18 it so much and continue to use it
14:21 right one thing is it makes unlimited
14:24 we're looking at you it makes an almost unlimited ceiling for how much you can
14:27 pay for the game yep and it so it makes an almost unlimited ceiling for how much
14:31 they can make on the game yeah
14:34 without being um subscription based y so you can
14:40 pay at your own pace so you know someone it's your birthday and you can treat
14:44 yourself to some armor or just visual yeah so it could be
14:50 just cosmetic armor so it could be a skin or whatever you call it in whatever
14:54 game um one thing that I think is crazy
14:57 is when things are subscription based and they have microtransactions because
15:02 then everyone that you have has a credit card it's kind of an interesting idea
15:06 because then you're not catering to all the people that will never pay anything
15:09 for the game you're only catering to people that are already invested in the
15:13 game and already have the means to invest more because they have a credit
15:17 card so I think that'll be interesting
15:20 if anyone can pull it off I know Eve does it to a certain degree but it's not
15:24 as heavy as other games do yeah so there
15:28 you go guys if you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem if
15:31 you don't like microtransactions and you don't like same day download um
15:36 downloadable content and all that kind stop stop buying it it's like uh what
15:42 else what else can you really compare it to I don't know it's like uh it's like
15:46 complaining about EA releasing a new NHL game every year and like do you own
15:52 one there you go I haven't bought a sports game since
15:57 1994 oh oh crap no I bought one I bought 2004 NHL okay so I've bought two two
16:03 sports games in 20 years I used to know an EA employee so I would get them for
16:07 10 bucks so I'm part of the problem so I don't think I can you're part of the problem too you gave EA
16:12 $10 that's true so the last time I did that
16:16 was 2005 okay let's play him
16:22 alive back to Twitter before that was
16:25 Blitz for what was that N64 seriously
16:28 NFL Blitz this was amazing it was so much fun there was no like actual
16:32 tactics just like grab the guy closest to the guy with the ball and just Spam
16:37 hit and just a lot of people are going to get injured and it's going to be
16:40 awesome all righty there uh Jenny From the Block figures you're a regulation
16:44 hottie I don't even necessarily know what that means first time live hello
16:48 yay uh a 955 is going to bottleneck that
16:52 card yes I'm hearing and all I hear is
16:55 EA give us a chance we won't do anything to mess with you well yes
17:01 you sell X number of copies you need servers to run X number of games
17:06 sold game trades hands same amount of
17:10 server space used oh oh okay okay
17:13 Eduardo is saying that like yeah okay
17:16 Twitter 140 characters yeah yeah I think it's it's a it's a Twitter issue here so
17:21 so basically that there's no justification for EA charging more
17:25 because the actual load on the server is
17:30 watching on 120 I'm afraid to click this but I'm
17:34 going to do it I'm going to do it yeah whoa very nice that's Beast very nice
17:41 120 inch TV that's like
17:45 actually uh wow that's huge I think
17:48 that's almost four times the size of mine oh it must be a projector I'm
17:52 pretty sure that's a projector must be a projector pretty sure yeah okay which
17:56 isn't to say that there aren't 120in t TVs it's just that most people don't
18:00 have them and it doesn't look like one and it doesn't look like a TV that is
18:04 another thing that is a factor all right
18:07 so I don't know how to go go back in here but at any rate we're back one
18:13 second uh twitch chat does the screen keep on going black for you kind of
18:17 every once in a while that's happening on my screen as I'm monitoring twitch
18:21 I'm just trying to figure out if that's actually happening to everyone else nope
18:25 apparently nope apparently not so the problem is you why do you always monitor
18:28 the stream I want to see if it's live or not yeah but you know it's going to
18:32 affect our bandwidth right which increases the chance of it going down
18:36 see the one time I was on a different network that was the first time I did it
18:40 I forgot to switch this time any rate hi bro which case 200 r or Cooler Master
18:43 half they're very different uh for an matx board will
18:48 neither um get the new get the new 350d
18:51 from Corsair is there any way to implement a
18:55 classified section in the forum for used Hardware we're looking into it in the
18:58 future honestly and I hope you guys don't take this the wrong way but what
19:02 the way that it we'd like to implement it is so that there's some kind of
19:06 contribution back to the Forum with it so maybe there it costs a dollar to list
19:10 things we're hoping that this will do two things one is it'll help support the
19:14 Forum and two is that it will prevent spamming because the one thing actually
19:19 this is uh extrem system.org charges to sign up for their Forum at all now and
19:24 what they've discovered is that spammers are not willing to spend money they
19:29 won't risk any money to to and to scam
19:32 people and we don't want to charge people to join the Forum but we are
19:35 worried about people abusing the crap out of classi it happens a lot it
19:39 happens so much and it increases the
19:43 load on the moderation team in a huge way because there's always some dispute
19:47 or something and honestly the moderation team is probably too small right now to
19:52 begin with they're amazing but a little bit too small so and for people
19:57 wondering about becoming a mod we are moving the way I do it is I make
20:01 sure everyone is trained up before I recruit anyone new so we're currently in
20:05 a training process okay so let's move on to our
20:09 next topic here which
20:12 is yeah I'll let you cover this one as well so this is from the
20:16 BBC so this is good or bad wow this is
20:20 terrible this is pretty much terrible how can this be good who is this good
20:24 for if you hate Nintendo but I don't know anyone who hates Nintendo I'm hate
20:28 Nintendo literally don't know anyone who hates Nintendo it's impossible to hate
20:32 Nintendo anyways there's probably someone out here that does that likes
20:35 this but EA was just like oh yeah you're
20:38 not entirely successful
20:41 dropped wow so we had one good news item for
20:46 them one good news item yeah so the Wii
20:50 has sold only 3.4 million units from an
20:53 anticipated 4 million units so far which means it's uh not hitting it sales
20:59 Target by looks like what about 15 20% something along those lines so that's
21:04 bad and then uh on top of that in spite
21:07 of the fact that EA had launch titles ready to go for Wii U including Mass
21:11 Effect 3 FIFA 13 and Need For Speed Most Wanted they have completely decommitted
21:17 doing any they have said we have no developers working on Wii U titles we're
21:23 not precluding ever making another Wii U title but we're definely be these ones
21:29 and they're pretty major labels and so it was Battlefield 4 Madden and FIFA are
21:34 not coming to the Wii U and although
21:37 they've already made one FIFA game so I guess they're not just not continuing
21:40 with that not continuing with FIFA um
21:44 which is just wow I mean at what point does Nintendo
21:49 just go the Sega route and become a Game Dev start licensing Mario maybe Mario
21:54 yeah CU Mario's still in the top I think it's top five for bestselling games like
22:00 currently bestselling games so nintend and Nintendo does amazingly well on
22:04 handhelds that's another thing people are ignoring um there was a there was a
22:08 chart recently recently released there we go by I think it was uh
22:14 Ubisoft going like top 20 selling games
22:17 right now or of I think it was last quarter or something and Nintendo was in
22:21 there for Mario but nothing else but then it was also stated that if they
22:26 included Portables Nintendo would have been in their mult multiple times right
22:30 so Nintendo is still doing okay it's just not their console but here okay you
22:35 know what I'm going to uh I'm going to sort
22:38 of go on a tangent here sort of actually
22:41 no I'm just going to lead into one of our other topics which is that Project Shield NVIDIA's handheld Android-based
22:47 gaming console has a 720p screen um
22:51 supports some really cool features including streaming from a GeForce
22:56 equipped desktop located within the vicinity so it uses Wi-Fi to actually
23:03 stream the game play from a computer
23:06 that's being used to power it so you could run games on an Android handheld
23:10 like hawen that don't stand a chance of
23:13 running on a Tegra 3 or a Tegra 4 or a Tegra 5 or whatever kind of Tegra
23:18 because it's actually powered by a GTX Titan somewhere else in the house and
23:23 all you're doing is beaming the actual images to to and from the uh the
23:27 handheld device so with stuff like that coming down the
23:31 pipe so oh what was the what was the pre-order was it $449 crap I don't remember I can't
23:36 remember I can't remember how much it was anymore twitch chat help me out here
23:39 how much does uh how much does Project Shield cost so pre-orders are up for
23:43 people who have been following Project Shield what does this mean for handheld
23:47 if you could have with how many games are available on Android with how much
23:51 development is going to continue to be thrown at it even with like just
23:56 completely devastating project like oh crap what was that stupid console called
24:01 Ouya yeah like the Ouya even even though that was just an utter disaster it's not
24:06 like it's slowing down everyone wants
24:09 Android to be a viable gaming platform looks about 350 350 sorry yeah so that's
24:15 a fantastic deal it's not that much more expensive than something like a Nintendo
24:20 and 3DS bombed because 3D was not the
24:24 right technology for them to go for um but doesn't make a difference because
24:28 they're still doing great and one thing with Project Shield too is if you're
24:31 going to carry Project Shield around I don't think that's going to slip into your pocket a DS that bulky it's still a
24:38 controller it's not going to slip into your pocket if you have some sort of bag
24:43 any kind of bag purse bag whatever you've got it it's not going to slip
24:46 into your pocket okay that's true a DS will slip into your pocket I did carry a
24:50 DS light around with me for a long time until it broke it's doable there it's a
24:54 little bulky but it's still doable Project Shield is not okay fine then how
24:58 about this what about the possibility of
25:01 carrying around something like a steel series free which is that little Bluetooth controller and then a more
25:06 normal Android device like definitely especially like big phones like uh like
25:11 five years from now when a phone is delivering just an insane amount of
25:17 horsepower so here here okay couple things couple things oh this is going to
25:21 lead into another topic that I wasn't sure if I wanted to get into yet but um
25:25 okay so the Galaxy S4 beautiful device
25:29 awesome device the bomb cost so for those of you who aren't familiar the
25:32 bill of materials cost of a Galaxy S4 is
25:36 estimated by IHS to be $237 that includes a 1080p Amo LED
25:42 screen that includes a Snapdragon S600
25:46 that includes 2 gigs of RAM 16 gigs of
25:49 storage and you know an operating system
25:53 that is very viable as a gaming platform communications platform honestly the
25:57 sky's the limit for what Android can do in the future okay now think about this
26:01 for a minute the actual cost of a Galaxy S4 then obviously isn't in the materials
26:07 it's in the R&D that goes into it it's into the R&D it's in the distribution
26:11 it's in the software development it's in all this other stuff so ridle me
26:17 this is that why when you go to a cell phone provider store the Galaxy S4 is
26:23 $199 with contract and the cheapest
26:26 phone they have is free because actually
26:30 it doesn't cost that much less to make a cheap phone because you still have to
26:35 buy all that crap it's not like a 720p screen costs that much more than a 1080p
26:40 screen like it might cost half as much or or or twice as much for a 1080p one
26:45 but when we're talking $35 versus $17 or
26:49 when we're talking $60 versus $30 in the
26:52 grand scheme of things it's not actually that much so if everyone already has an
26:57 Android device that's as powerful as anything Nintendo can make and try to
27:01 sell you for $199 or $249 as a dedicated
27:04 gaming device what chance could they possibly stand when they have to do all
27:08 the R&D anyway they're not going to be able to be competitive on price because
27:12 people can get all this subsidized stuff anyway um they're not going to be online
27:17 because Nintendo apparently doesn't understand online gameplay at all no
27:22 just don't like at all I mean is handheld
27:25 even going to be a business for them in five years that's a very good point
27:29 because when you spend a whole bunch of money on the phone that you're going to
27:32 buy anyways and then you're in the store and you're like oh I should check out
27:35 one of these Nintendo jobbers oh wait I can do everything on my phone already
27:39 yep why would you actually buy one and would there be more money in it for
27:42 Nintendo to figure out how to microtransaction out something like
27:46 Mario Kart speaking of microtransactions would you buy a new cart for micro for
27:49 Mario Kart it was like really sweet if it's cool enough honestly maybe I don't
27:55 do microt trans that much but sometimes but once in a while if it's cool enough
27:59 if it's very iconic if it's something super nostalgic I might pick it up yes
28:03 like if they had like an 8 bit cart probably see yeah right like or like I
28:10 don't there's a few different things so maybe maybe Android will be a
28:13 possibility for Nintendo in the future maybe they don't do their own Hardware
28:16 anymore um they've always been known like except for their super old consoles
28:21 they've always been known for their titles anyways y yeah exactly I mean N64
28:27 was not a ground break freaking console Hardware wise at all not really um I
28:32 think we can all agree Wei wasn't GameCube sure wasn't Wii U Wii U is like
28:38 has a screen on the controller yeah uh I think we're a
28:43 couple generations of Battery Technology away from that actually being a thing
28:47 yeah oh this is not a topic on the live stream so I'll save it for next week
28:51 never mind continue um so anyway I think the future is Android devices I don't
28:55 know that Project Shield is necessarily the answer but remember we talked last
28:59 week about the Galaxy S4 Zoom which is
29:03 Samsung's camera with a phone built into it y rather than a phone with a camera
29:08 built into it what about the potential for a shield 2 that's a phone yep and
29:13 thing with Shield is what if it was a stock Android experience phone that was
29:17 also a gaming device with a built-in controller and could stream from your
29:20 GeForce graphics card would you buy it very possibly if it was slightly Slimmer
29:25 because okay the couch gaming experience even I'm a PC Gamer is still a thing yes
29:30 just when I do it it's usually super classic consoles on games that I found
29:34 at crazy retro Stores um but like I
29:38 understand a there's a ton of people out there that have DS's this is another thing that I'm surprised you didn't
29:43 throw back at me is a ton of people have DS's and they never leave the house the
29:47 reason why they have the DS is so that they can kind of move around within their house they can play it in the
29:51 kitchen they can play it in the bath in the bath they can play it while they're
29:54 hanging on the couch that is actually a huge use case for portable device is is
29:58 not actually leaving the house so my tablet never leaves the house yeah so
30:03 Shields will totally dominate that section I think so too actually it's
30:06 going to be awesome I mean streaming video to it you know when you're maybe
30:09 you're not playing games maybe you're on the can you just want to watch a video YouTube whatever else holy crap Shield
30:14 is going to be awesome it's going to destroy so and the ergonomics of it is
30:18 actually more comfortable than even for watching video I would make an argument
30:22 that you should watch on a project Shield not on your phone of course
30:25 phones are weird phones are not comfortable no not for not for like
30:29 holding like this for an extended period of time because also usually the screen
30:33 comes really close to the edge yes um I don't know if this it's probably still a
30:36 problem for you but thumbs uh not not as much of a problem for me mine are mine
30:40 are small but still often cover up a little bit of the screen have you seen
30:44 the Galaxy S4 it's the same form factor as the S3 right and it goes almost to
30:49 the bezel because there's almost no bezel on it because it's a 5in screen
30:52 versus a 4.7 in screen which is great which is exactly like what you're
30:55 talking about but then if you're watching a movie hold it like this you're covering up part of the
31:01 screen and like the speakers always suck unless they're like yours but even then
31:04 if you're holding it like this you're covering up the speakers I've had a lot of people tell me they think project
31:08 Shield's ridiculous and a lot of the comments on my Project Shield coverage
31:12 from CES would indicate that they felt like it was ridiculous I totally
31:17 disagree I disagree 100% And I have since day one I completely disagree as
31:21 well and I think once it's released it'll be fine I think part of the reason
31:24 is I usually bat for this team as well but it's a whole bunch of people PC
31:28 Gamers that have no interest in going and sitting on the couch mhm but if I
31:33 can play casual PC titles so not stuff that
31:37 I'm going to be playing most of the time when I'm sitting at my computer racing games but if I get a racing exactly if I
31:41 get a racing game or something like that that I would honestly plug a controller into my computer for anyways racing
31:46 games sometime action Adventures stuff like that I could just go lay on the
31:50 couch and play it on my portable and it unifies the experience because all of a
31:53 sudden instead of buying a game for my XBox if I want to play it on the big
31:57 screen or freaking like hauling my computer
32:00 down next to the TV come on guys put up your hand have you done it I've done it
32:04 see right which is like which is ridiculous I did it for like two weeks
32:08 once unifying the platform so you only have to buy the game once to have a PC
32:14 experience a handheld experience and a big screen experience y well that's why
32:19 I was so excited with um steam box which
32:23 is a big deal so so yeah that's uh
32:26 that's very exciting and apparently I have an email that's actually really important so go ahead talk about
32:31 whatever you want um we just finished a topic anyways I'm
32:36 going to jump into the topic that I was going to say for next week which is
32:39 phone technology I personally don't think is like acceptable at all right
32:45 now really I kind of think all phones suck this one yep what sucks about it
32:50 battery okay um okay so yes Battery Technology
32:55 is so far off what's going on you know what my first cell phone had about a
33:00 3day battery my second cell phone was a
33:03 Nokia that lasted for like four or five days yeah um and and that was with
33:09 gaming on it I played Snake nice snake was awesome yes but like what the heck
33:17 years ago and now constantly people coming out going oh there's there's new
33:21 Battery Technology it's going to make your phone last for a month blah blah
33:25 blah and then you hear nothing nothing weren't they talking about putting like
33:29 fuel cells in phone at one point they were doing tons of stuff and none of it
33:32 ever happens I don't want my phone to last for a day anymore right why do we
33:36 accept it because you know what it's funny because I uh that was one of the
33:40 reasons I held off on getting a smartphone was because even my
33:44 Blackberry sort of smartphone but like it was an older one it was like an 8,000
33:47 series or something like that so it had like a color screen which was a big deal
33:51 he still had like the scroll wheel it wasn't touchcreen nothing like that so
33:55 even that one lasted for two days two and a half maybe 3 days um and one of
34:00 the reasons I held off for a long time I didn't get a smartphone like a
34:03 touchscreen smartphone until iPhone 4 and so I held off because I was like
34:07 well I don't want to charge my phone every day but for some reason now I'm
34:11 used to it now I accept it and I expect
34:14 the actual technological improvements will not be made on batteries but will
34:18 be made on things like wireless charging so we'll get to the point where instead
34:22 of carrying around battery banks with you your phone has a wireless charger
34:26 built into the dash or your phone your car your car has a wireless charger
34:30 built into the dash your uh your room your bedroom has a wireless charger that
34:36 handles the whole room somehow and then your backpack you can carry a battery
34:40 bank that is a wireless charger just make sure your phone's somewhere near it
34:43 and you'll be constantly charging up your device they'll have to figure out a way to make them pair in some way that's
34:48 secure so people can't sap your power or whatever else but I think that's
34:52 actually where we're headed in order to extend battery lives to because if you
34:56 could be charging your phone somewhat or like if you dropped your
35:00 backpack next to a wall wart when you
35:03 walk in and it charged that and then you kept your phone in your pocket close
35:07 enough to your backpack if you're at school and it charged your phone you
35:11 might actually still be able to go days without charging your phone this could be an opportunity for a wireless
35:16 charging battery maker to develop a backpack and then sell the whole
35:20 solution the whole solution could be a viable commercial prodject okay so if
35:24 anyone's out there watching this idea um we want a 10% royalty yep just like
35:28 everything else we bring up on just like everything else we bring up on the screen because honestly I think it's a
35:33 great idea I think turning wireless charging into something that's all
35:36 around you as opposed to something that's like Samsung I think they want
35:40 like what they want like 70 bucks for it or something like that or 60 bucks for like the little the plate thing you put
35:44 the thing on it yeah for the plate I'm just like well no it's not there yet and
35:48 I know that there's a reason that it costs money because it's still expensive
35:51 but if we can get to the point where that technology improves enough that
35:55 your phone actually just lasts for days without you ever even thinking about it
36:00 that's probably the solution but like okay I jumped on the smartphone game
36:04 late as well as you I jumped in with an Nexus S before then I would have slider
36:08 phones I always liked slider phones slider phones are stupid but it would
36:11 last for like a week yeah but it's a slider I mean they're so flimsy all of
36:15 them not the one I had which one did you have I don't remember the name of it but
36:19 it was like seriously bulky I would throw it constantly it came into a lake
36:24 with me like the thing was a beast um I don't know if it was that one that was
36:28 just specifically durable or what but I I have one slider phone I guess I
36:31 shouldn't say I always had I always had slider phones yeah I 16 slider phones
36:36 because they all broke I had one phone before a smartphone I was never really
36:39 that into phones so I had my slider phone I had more phones cuz I'm just
36:43 older than you
36:47 y um but that thing would last for like a week I would barely ever charge it
36:53 every once in a while I'll be like beep beep oh I guess I'll leave it on
36:56 overnight and then it'll be good for week again speaking of battery life you know what ticks me off about Android you
37:00 know how um like your phone will buzz when something comes in the screen
37:05 doesn't turn on yeah it drives me
37:08 crazy so like my phone will buzz will be like cuz I'm used to iPhone with an
37:13 iPhone it your notifications are all there whenever a new notification comes
37:17 in that drives me absolutely nuts and I know it's bad for battery life like that I like that because I set up the LED
37:22 indicator on my S3 to tell me what notification I got you can change
37:27 notific ification colors in in your different apps yeah so I have different colors for
37:32 every type of notification that I've gotten so I always know I don't have to
37:35 have the screen tell me just the little LED thing tells me well I don't know I
37:39 like being because I get a lot of tweets and stuff so when something comes in I
37:43 like being able to glance at it see if it's important and then put it down um
37:48 although yeah my screen would be on pretty much constantly and there's
37:51 probably some app so speaking of Battery Technology wow we're like we're on a
37:56 segue roll today
38:03 because yes very good it's not a slow
38:07 clap that's just a one person I've actually made that joke on the live
38:10 stream before but you were probably sleeping uh so this topic right here
38:15 where did this go ah yes so this was a
38:18 community contributed news item and it
38:24 is the Chevy Vault turned into to a
38:27 whole house UPS so rather than recycle
38:31 old hybrid electric and EV batteries which can be quite costly GM and ABB
38:35 have modeled a prototype for a house/
38:38 small building UPS this allows batteries
38:42 that have not quite okay so uh it's from extreme Tech and the Forum member who
38:46 contributed this is old 720 so
38:51 this um allows them to create around a
38:54 whoops around a 25 kwatt hour
38:58 UPS which is capable of running an average American home for almost a day
39:03 in addition to that it has the added benefit of meaning you know less waste
39:08 and less cost in recycling it has the other benefit of um acting as
39:14 a crap blah blah blah blah blah ah yes
39:18 smoother power surge protection and protection from outages which is really
39:22 cool I think this is the smartest thing ever they ship them on a pallet so they
39:26 could actually lift them in for disasters oh that's really cool right
39:32 that's very very cool I was like this is like the smartest thing ever because if
39:36 you're going to develop this battery technology that finally someone's
39:39 developing some Battery Technology for something even if we're not seeing it
39:42 for our smartphones seriously so car battery technology this is like the
39:46 smartest way of using something that was at the end of its useful life cycle that
39:50 I've seen in a long time yeah Tesla's been making some pretty awesome waves so
39:56 uh it it would allow okay so you could use it you could use
39:59 it to power lights and rescue equipment and disasters you could use it in place
40:02 of a generator for things like events I mean imagine this instead of hauling
40:06 around like a diesel generator for something like uh a parade or something
40:11 like a video shoot if you could rent one of these
40:15 where they just drop it off on a flatbed and it's like got a day worth of power
40:19 you've got well remember it runs an average American house for a day right
40:23 so if you're running like cameras and like well if you have a whole bunch of Lights yeah okay right light okay fair
40:27 fair enough so you drop off a couple of them or or a bank of them for a shoot oh
40:32 my goodness that's cool right and they wouldn't they wouldn't make any noise
40:36 unlike what generators can do although there are quiet ones that are designed
40:40 purpose built for that but I don't know I just I think it's really really cool
40:44 do you know cuz I know um Tesla is doing the easily removable batteries now in
40:49 the car do you know if they're going to be doing something like this no idea no idea no idea although I did see my first
40:55 car charging station in Van uh last weekend it was at Guildford mall
41:00 they had two specific spots for uh for
41:03 electronic Vehicles that's cool they're colorcoded green they have little charging stations they ask you to limit
41:07 your stay to two hours um I I I was
41:11 someone tweeted me I thought this would be pretty funny you should you should
41:14 see if you can find someone with a Hummer and get them to park there just
41:17 like take a picture see what happens be awesome I have a buddy that has a vault
41:21 it's actually a pretty cool car yeah have you tried driving it I have not
41:24 driven it personally but I've been in the car quite a bit okay it's kind of
41:27 eerie it has a p a pedestrian horn have you heard of that uh yeah yeah I've
41:32 heard so it's not super loud so if someone's like right in front of you and they can't hear you you can be like hey
41:36 get out of the way because the car doesn't make really any noise right so
41:41 you have to have some way of warning people that isn't like the normal
41:44 insanely loud horn I've always thought that like car horns should have more
41:50 options like if there was a code like you know how road rage particularly in
41:55 the old days um and I mean mean like 10 years ago cuz I'm not that old but uh
41:59 when I first started driving you know what every speed trap on the road we
42:03 didn't have to rely on ways or Google Maps because people were courteous when
42:08 there was a speed trap the people coming the other way would flash their beams at
42:11 you come on where did that go why don't we do that anymore it's helpful jeez so
42:18 what now I have to have an app on my phone so I'm like this to find out if
42:21 I'm going to get oh I'm going to get a ticket for doing this now never mind that doesn't speed at all what what
42:28 um so I mean come on guys this is ridiculous you know what's funny I
42:32 actually only drive like twice a week now you drive twice a week on the
42:36 weekends yeah I'll drive I usually drive when the wife and I go somewhere anyway
42:41 um yeah so like yeah so what happened to
42:44 common courtesy and I always thought cars needed more ways to communicate
42:49 with other drivers because the problem with the horn is it's angry sounding Y
42:54 what about a polite honk like why don't you have a different option why isn't
42:57 there like a we should you should have flashable red lights on the front of
43:01 your car because red light won't make your eyes freak out yeah like
43:06 communication devices on cars and and I always wanted like it's one of those
43:10 things where if I'd had like money to just blow on absolutely nothing I might
43:14 have done it at some point but I always wanted like an LED array in the back
43:17 window so I could put up little messages oh my thanks for not tailgating you know
43:24 would that even could you get in trouble I don't think I don't think so should be
43:27 okay that would be epic that'd be hilarious would love that by the way it
43:33 must exist check out ls.com put it on the back of your thing
43:37 oh yeah than for notating by the way it
43:40 would be cool if you could actively hook it up to a laptop if you hate my driving
43:43 go complain about it on lineus tech.com it helps my website
43:47 traffic yeah be awesome someone says things like
43:53 that exist oh I'm sure they do I'm sure they do I just uh never I've never
43:57 actually seen one and I've uh I've certainly never bought one so let's do a
44:01 little bit of Twitter Q&A guys I know we've kind of ignored
44:05 y'all my Bolt news apparently dates back from November whatever I hadn't heard of
44:09 it so there uh different countries have different horns even on the same cars uh
44:14 that I actually have encountered I had no idea but what I want is one car with
44:19 multiple horns yeah uh what's up with the twinkie box on your wall uh it was
44:23 sent by a live stream viewer who uh I slick and I both said we'd never tried a
44:27 Twinkie so the viewer sent us a box most of the Twinkies are still in there so
44:32 we're going to try them again in a year to see if they're still good I was not
44:35 aware of this my dad wants me to build him an extreme gaming business PC with a
44:40 2 and a2k budget he wants a
44:49 3970x just get a c tell me to invest in Tasker yeah as if I have any
44:54 money what oh yeah
44:57 it's a cool app is it what's it do I don't actually remember I think it's
45:01 like a task manager for your phone I had it on my Nexus S but it's been so long
45:06 maybe it's a setting because Tom says his S3 turns on the screen vibrates and
45:10 does the notification LED Windows phone turns the screen on when you get a
45:13 notification as well yes that's true that's one of the things that I didn't
45:17 appreciate about Windows phone because I didn't notice it because I assumed they
45:21 all did that um because I again I'd come from iPhone yay Kyle LG Cosmos very nice
45:27 see they're kind of Beast and for some reason their batteries always lasted forever uh did Nintendo claim and place
45:32 ads in ah we're going to talk about that in the Afterparty John we are aware of
45:36 this uh so Nintendo has been claiming
45:39 monetization from game streamers who are streaming Nintendo games so we're going
45:43 to talk about it later later um while we're streaming
45:47 it I'm not going to say that while we're
45:50 wait what what no different thing different thing so what you're saying is
45:53 we have the technology yes Mario is the live stream again we going till we're
45:57 done I know some people have asked us to change the game whereas others have said
46:01 they love the game so we're going to do whatever we want which is what I want
46:05 and we're going to play that game we're going to play some Mario I love Mario
46:09 but I'm apparently terrible because I haven't done it honestly I'm up to the
46:12 part where I'm having a little bit of trouble with it too I think I took like four cracks at that Fortress already
46:16 I've gotten better A lot you're doing a lot better I'm not doing quite as well
46:22 but uh oh oh yeah our USB to SNES
46:26 adapter has hasn't arrived from Amazon yet but I have some really cool stuff
46:30 that did arrive for us from B&H Photo
46:34 Video should we do it now do what take
46:37 it over there no no I don't want to unbox now I'm just going to show them no
46:40 no no we're not no no b-roll wants to be there when we open them so why don't huh
46:46 I thought he was here why don't you cover this what here you go carry on
46:50 I'll be back okay what is this or should I do build
46:53 logs uh nah n S4 what is this okay so
46:59 Galaxy S4 is supposed to hit 10 million sales in about a week which means a
47:02 little bit under a month since release that compares to S3 selling about 10
47:07 million in about 50 days that's insane I
47:11 and for context guys S3 still is the number one selling smartphone
47:16 ever so so S4 looks like it's going to
47:19 be even better yeah which which is kind of nuts to me because yes Samsung is
47:24 doing a massive massive marketing push again
47:27 huge I read something like $410 million in US which is nuts
47:33 um but I haven't heard as much about it as the S3 the S3 was such a big big
47:39 debate the iPhone versus S3 debate was huge and there was so much going around
47:43 about it the S4 yeah there's a lot going around about it but most of it seems
47:46 very very very Samsung funded instead of organic so I did not think that the
47:50 sales were going to be quite as high but apparently they are which is just
47:54 absolutely insane this was from um
47:58 CNET um news at CNET if you just look up
48:02 CNET Samsung Galaxy S4 sales to hit 10 million next week um I haven't seen sale
48:07 numbers for uh iPhone 5 so I can't compare it
48:11 directly to iPhone 5's original month if
48:14 someone knows in twitch chat if you could fire that in twitch chat we can
48:18 compare because S4 seems like it's just
48:22 going to smash also people that bought an S4 I don't know if this is here give
48:27 me one second
48:30 guys I actually don't see it but there's going to be an S4 that is going to be
48:35 updated by Google instead of Samsung uh that is on the Play store which is
48:39 really interesting I think it's $600 $649 for an S4 on the Play Store where
48:44 you get your updates from Google and I believe it's unlocked so that's
48:48 interesting um that's actually quite intriguing cuz that's not that much
48:51 money realistically a lot of the times they're around 900 for a new fancy phone
48:56 and and updated by Google is a huge thing because that brings back my love
49:00 for Nexus because Nexus I had my Nexus S
49:03 and that thing would always get new updates the second Google was done with them so that was
49:07 awesome oh my goodness all the things yeah you can go this way Oh I thought
49:12 you could go that way oh that hurt okay so I haven't seen any of this
49:18 stuff yeah we got some pretty cool stuff in the mail from B&H so we uh we're
49:23 upgrading our gear once again if you guys have seen seen uh some of the
49:28 latest videos we've done so if you're not already subscribed to Techquickie
49:32 go subscribe now because we have a hilarious video on there at least I
49:36 think it's funny um about how to upgrade your Mac with a Samsung SSD funny yeah
49:41 is it funny okay good I think it's funny um anyway so we want to continue to
49:45 improve our production value so we've got a few different things here that are
49:49 going to help us and guys when I say improve our production values I mean
49:52 when it's not slick or me operating the camera cuz we know we suck it's fine we
49:59 get it um so check this out we got a
50:03 syonic light Master Pro which is a light
50:06 meter apparently b-roll and Diesel
50:09 insisted I had to buy one of these it's like 500 bucks so what this allows you
50:14 to do is do more than just eyeball the lighting when you're when you're setting
50:17 up a shot but this allows you to actually empirically measure the light
50:22 in different places so you can make things look more better supposedly if
50:26 they don't end up using this like I'll fire them both because yeah they we have
50:31 that thing now so ins to do so insistent
50:35 we also got this which is extremely exciting this is the small HD ac7 so
50:40 right now our camera has this little Eeny weeny little display on it that is
50:45 just not acceptable so hard to use and
50:48 it's ergonomic it's an ergonomic nightmare oh yeah because the camera is
50:52 heavy particularly with the lens on it and then like the screens like up here
50:56 at the back and it can turn to the side and that's it it's not on an
51:00 articulating ARM or anything like that so unless you're holding the camera like
51:05 in front of you like this somehow because you're made of magic or you have
51:09 like a steady cam vest or something like that it is completely horrible you can't
51:14 shoulder mount it because you can't see it it's behind you so the small HD
51:19 is we going to take it out I'm just going to I'm just going to look at it
51:23 watch it hit that box and slide a no no no it's all good it's all good so the
51:27 small HD is a 7in screen there's an OLED version but we didn't get that one that
51:31 actually has some diagnostic stuff built in and is going to allow us to mount it
51:37 to an ARM so you can see it has Universal mounting here so that you can
51:40 shoulder Mount the camera and have the screen stick out in front of you so you
51:44 can actually see what you're doing the other thing about the screen now is it's so small it's really hard for us to
51:49 figure out if things are in Focus or not while we're filming it's almost
51:52 impossible so this uses component HDMI
51:55 inputs as well I think there's one more yeah it has oh oh it looks like we
52:00 didn't get the SDI version oh yeah I think that one cost extra um our camera
52:04 supports SDI but like yeah whatever this
52:08 the other one was more expensive and there's no real difference in image quality as far as we could tell so there
52:12 you go we got a small HD which we are extremely excited about and there's
52:16 probably a bunch of exposure assists and all kinds of cool stuff my phone's
52:20 ringing right now it's probably b-roll raging at me for opening it without him
52:24 all right so what else we got just keep on trucking up shoulder rig oh
52:29 I'm so excited for this so we got an fs700 shooter which has a counterweight
52:34 so that when you mount the camera on your shoulder it sits evenly rather than
52:38 just like hanging all the weight on your arms which is what we did at CES so we
52:42 got this for computex this was a
52:45 grand yeah camera equipment is
52:49 ridiculous it's criminal how much this
52:52 stuff costs if you can see and see things and you want to make all the
52:55 money yes make very basic camera equipment
53:00 very Niche camera equipment be like the one guy who makes the weird adapter for
53:05 like the one camera and get all the money buckets of money and like all
53:10 these companies can afford to go to like these massive trade shows and show off
53:13 their like stupid adapter that you're just like okay yeah I guess I mean look
53:18 at this look at this I mean this is the level of sort of like professional and
53:22 this is a pretty well-regarded brand this is zudo it comes with like
53:27 paper inside like that's how it's packed it's in bubble wrap like it's like dudes
53:30 in their garages it's like water cooling basically whoa there's the counter
53:35 weights cool those are heavy um see but
53:38 like they're just weights I know here's
53:42 an instruction is going to be so upset cuz we're totally taking this out now
53:45 okay we are taking this one out but I wasn't planning to do an unboxing video of this one anyway so so anyway so
53:50 there's that and then last but not least for improving our audio quality yet
53:55 again not not levels just quality this is a blimp and I had no idea they were
53:59 this big so this covers your microphone and avoids any um wind noise avoids any
54:07 uh vibration noise and handling noise and all that kind of cool stuff so your
54:11 uh your microphone's like suspended on a bunch of stuff and it's cool and yeah
54:16 anyway so there that's all of our new gear that we're extremely excited about
54:19 and we'll allow us to make even more better videos than we ever have before
54:24 in fact our best video ever is not the
54:28 Samsung upgrade your Mac video that's the best one we've released we have
54:33 another one that's pending release it's done we're waiting for the manufacturer
54:38 to give us the green light to to unleash it on the world and we are really really
54:44 excited I oh I've been waiting for so
54:47 long to that video to be able to go live it's going to be really good yeah yeah
54:52 I'm uh both slick and I are in it but we also have actors so this was this was
54:57 our biggest production yet and oh hold
55:01 on oh oh is problem um uh okay I need my
55:07 power adapter do you know where it is I think so okay uh did you cover any more
55:10 did you cover Windows 8.1 no okay I'll talk about that so guys uh we finally
55:16 have confirmation from Microsoft so there's been a lot of talk about Windows
55:20 blue or Windows 8.1 or whatever it's
55:23 going to end up being is it going to be a new OS is it going to be an iteration
55:27 is it going to be free is it going to be a service pack is it going to be maybe
55:31 like a $20 upgrade or $30 upgrade sort
55:34 of like what Apple does with OS 10 where they've been calling it OS 10 for an
55:38 awful long time to the point where I'm not even convinced it's the same operating system anymore quite just you
55:43 know adding features and doing this and doing that and releasing them as incremental smaller upgrades in much the
55:48 same way that Microsoft has traditionally done by charging more up front and doing service packs over time
55:53 so it looks like Windows 8.1 will be
55:56 more like a service pack than anything else they are implementing some new
55:59 functionality they are not charging for
56:03 it as a standalone product so it's just going to be um adding a start menu they
56:09 are making some changes to the UI to make the modern UI more friendly for
56:13 Mouse users the source for this
56:16 was which one is this uh the source for this one was Daily Tech so here you go
56:21 guys check out the full article on Daily Tech um they are keeping the ARM be and
56:26 it looks like guys like NVIDIA are still very committed to it and it might be
56:30 helped in some ways by some of the things that they're doing to unify The Experience between Windows 8 and the uh
56:35 Windows RT version and honestly I think probably the most important thing
56:40 they're doing from a tablet perspective with Windows 8.1 is they are adjusting
56:44 the modern UI so it'll work on seven and 8 inch tablets because right now the
56:49 tablets that are cleaning up are devices like the Nexus
56:52 7 I mean you can get a Nexus 7 referb at
56:55 NCIX for 150 bucks yeah would you spend
57:00 $300 plus on a Windows RT tablet at the point yes it comes with office but given
57:05 that the Nexus 7 is already going to do most of what you need it to do and it's more portable anyway and you could use
57:10 Google Docs 10-inch tablet has always felt like a very awkward form factor for
57:14 me I do use my iPad a lot I don't own a
57:18 7-in tablet and I'm not convinced that I would still use my iPad 2 if I had an
57:21 iPad mini um what do you think
57:28 yeah probably I've I personally have never liked the tablet form factor at
57:33 any point I don't like minis I don't like like I don't like sevens I don't
57:37 like tens I don't like tablets what if you could have an 18 and a half inch
57:42 tablet ASUS has one no I don't get it I'm not into it at
57:49 all I do not like it I kind of maybe
57:53 understand I do not like green eggs and ham I do not like them Sam I am I do not
57:58 like them in a house like if you had if you had like a communal home tablet
58:03 maybe okay just so like it can kind of sit on the coffee table by the couch and
58:07 people can just like check things really quickly I do not want an apple one I do
58:10 not think that they are fun yes I was trying to think of some way to
58:14 incorporate Apple yes good job good job thank
58:19 you uh so anyway um moving right along
58:22 so Windows 8.1 will be free that will be good it will tweak some things ah yes so
58:27 the start menu I mentioned before the start menu is going to be added do you remember what the start menu does now it
58:32 just goes to uh modern UI so it does nothing which it kind of
58:36 already did you know already did okay you know what it'll fix for me though
58:41 because one of the things that actually drives me crazy is the way that I
58:44 navigate to device manager just by habit is I rightclick start menu properties
58:49 not having a start menu is like oh my goodness how do I get to device manager
58:53 I don't know how to do it anymore will that work what it doesn't come up oh I
58:59 don't know I don't know if they okay if anyone
59:02 from Microsoft is watching Tim if you're watching is the right click context menu
59:06 still yeah is the right click context menu still on the start menu because if it's not that's going to be a big
59:10 problem for me anyway well you'll probably still be installing a third
59:14 party app anyways we've got someone on Twitch saying anyone who doesn't like
59:18 Windows 8 didn't give the full retail version of chance I definitely gave it a pretty big
59:23 chance so okay yeah yeah yeah the it's
59:29 speed in games is nice yep network transfer look nice task
59:35 manager nice uh permissions not nice any
59:38 integration with modern UI whatsoever at all in any amount not nice um I don't
59:45 know yeah oh modern UI is apparently becoming more Mouse friendly oh I think
59:49 I already said that earlier but I didn't have too much of a problem with the mouse in it yeah that's not the issue
59:54 for me I mean the issue for me is density I've I've always wanted my
59:59 computer to have more data density not less because I see well um and bigger
60:06 Mouse movements to me are not more efficient so that was why I wanted a
60:10 30in 2560 x600 monitor is because I wanted all of my icons and all of my
60:15 text smaller now modern UI takes that and
60:20 makes it so that instead of having a start menu that's got all these little
60:24 like densely packed things like I use detail VI when I am browsing files
60:29 because I want I want all those file names as long as possible as much as I
60:34 can read and I want to know how big they are and I want to know when they were last modified and these are all things
60:37 that I actually care about when I'm using my computer and modern UI doesn't
60:41 help me with any of that it doesn't give me enough information and reducing the
60:44 density is never going to work for me no matter what unless I'm on a tablet in
60:49 which case yay my biggest problem with modern UI is okay Windows 7 I have a
60:54 whole bunch of things open I monitoring a few things I'm possibly watching a
60:58 video I've got chats open I'm doing all this stuff I press start on Windows 7
61:04 and a little menu comes up yeah I can do my stuff really quickly while doing
61:08 everything else I press start on Windows 8 boom everything's gone byebye
61:12 everything my whole current experience is completely interrupted and stopped
61:16 put to a complete halt so that I can take too long to find whatever I'm
61:20 finding because of huge blocky icons or the search being filtered into three
61:24 different types of results then I get to finally go back into the experience that
61:27 I was having before with that said if I was using touch on the computer like I
61:32 am with this notebook then that's fine I'm you know I I like Windows 8 on my
61:37 touch Notebook on my Aspire S7 but that's a touch experience and I don't
61:41 know could I be convinced at some point you know what I could be convinced at
61:45 some point to have a touch enabled desktop but not necessarily because I
61:49 would use touch all the time on it but because kids growing up my my son is
61:56 hardly know like is going to hardly know what a
61:59 screen that doesn't have a touch interface on it is like he will expect
62:03 to be touching things in order so so for people who use that more
62:08 naturally yeah I think I think it'll come eventually and I think Windows 8
62:11 does make sense for that at some point in the future now I actually should have
62:15 done this earlier and guys bear with me here but I got to run an ad so I'm going
62:20 to explain what the ad is really quickly first because it might not be completely
62:23 explanatory the ad itself that is so in the US if and Canada if you buy uh an
62:29 Intel processor a qualifying one from a qualifying retailer and the list will be
62:33 in the description under the live archive video um it's also in some of my
62:37 other videos but uh most of the major guys on online uh then you get a free
62:42 subscription to iracing.com which is hyper realistic racing Sim and now I'm
62:47 just going to transition into the ad because I basically just said everything in it but I have to play this anyway for
62:51 a limited time only buy an Intel Core I5 or core i7 CPU and get get a free
62:56 3-month subscription to iracing.com available from participating retailers
63:00 click the link in the video description for more details some guys like yay it worked yay
63:08 yay that's the second time right um someone says unsubscribed
63:13 whatever man and there's nothing you can do about ad block if we like embed an
63:18 ads so there you go good luck with that
63:21 and for those of you who use ad block on our content come on man how are we
63:26 supposed to eat exactly it's actually a problem we cater to the techie people
63:30 who know how to run abblock so equivalent channels can eat and we can't
63:34 and it's like oh it's actually kind of depressing that like makeup channels
63:39 that have like a quarter as many views as us apparently they're doing it as a
63:43 full-time job I'm like really cuz none of those people have ad
63:47 block all of our fans are like yeah screw you guys adlock yay I don't have
63:52 to watch ads it's like good for you but come on really
63:56 with that said I don't sit and watch YouTube ads no but don't don't sit and
64:00 watch YouTube I don't have ad block yeah I mean I'll I'll skip them most of the
64:04 time but you know what I think it still counts as semi a semi impression or
64:08 something like I think they still I think ah cuz Okay the ones that pop up
64:12 from here you know what I don't remember the rules anymore but um moving right
64:16 along ad block
64:19 sucks uh o yeah Facebook this is
64:23 interesting yeah so this this is honestly it's not the deepest analysis
64:29 of you know Facebook's IPO and the whole
64:33 uh public offering and all the stuff that's been going on over the last year
64:37 but what it is is it's just kind of a neat very highlevel view of sort of
64:43 what's happened over the last little while here and the page is loading
64:46 really fun right click on this and click view image it'll show properly okay view
64:50 image go okay so check this out guys um
64:55 so here's after a jittery half hour delay cause oh so this source is qz
65:00 prod. oh no that's wrong wait where is this from yeah qz.com there we go so
65:06 after a jittery half hour delay caused by text stock begins trading closing up
65:09 0.6% on huge volume okay shares fall
65:13 nearly 20% in the next two days as
65:16 people realize like what's happened here stock tanks another 20% before and after
65:22 Facebook's week first earnings report early in investors and insiders can sell
65:27 right here and stock drops 10% from August 16th to August 17th I really feel
65:33 for anyone actually I don't I don't really feel for anyone who invested in
65:36 Facebook because you probably should have known better um I sure did and I
65:40 wasn't following it at all okay view image next up we've got company says
65:45 Zuckerberg won't sell stock for at least next 12 months but notes that employees may sell from October 29th stock hits
65:50 record low 1773 and it's been better since then but
65:54 it's very Rocky like this this is not a roller coaster that I would get on
65:58 second earnings release as public company just barely beats expectations
66:01 shares dump 19% the next day honestly this is the crazy thing about playing
66:06 stocks to me it's like investor
66:09 confidence somehow has something to do with the value of a company are you
66:15 crazy like okay all the respect in the
66:18 world for AMD I love those guys everyone I know there great guys but like the
66:24 fact that they lost less money than they expected causes their stock to Skyrocket
66:30 it's like what they're actually still not making
66:36 money like eating a goal good job but you
66:41 still fail and I mean yes I understand that it
66:46 means they're turning things around and there's potential they could pay out
66:49 dividends at some point and all that stuff but there's a whole lot of just
66:53 like short-term gains and short-term losses that get made on pure speculation
66:58 has nothing to do with anything speaking of which we're going to talk about Bitcoin a bit later
67:03 um so moving on to I keep I keep closing
67:06 instead of going back so we're going to move into the next quarter which
67:11 actually looks a little bit better here we
67:14 go so the article actually has a bit of an inflammatory title how Facebook like
67:19 basically pissed away $40 million of value in a year so okay so from then on
67:24 the graphs SE Arch feature announced Market shrugs so there's a little bit of
67:28 bias in this particular article here so take it with a grain of salt they're
67:32 kind of right though they're kind of right but you know
67:37 that they're still kind of right yes yes
67:40 they may be right it even had like a shrug thing it's like uh yeah there was
67:46 like oh okay here's the last one guys so Facebook home for smartphones announced
67:51 yeah it kind of shrugged again earnings report reassures investor stock up five
67:55 .6% the next day so whatever they may be
67:58 doing over there sort of whatever business decisions that they're making
68:01 okay one number one I don't think Mark Zuckerberg cares anymore um at all at
68:07 all because I think he's kind of set for life um but it's just kind of okay so
68:12 two things how did they drop 40 billion in value okay they there have probably
68:16 been some missteps along the way how did anyone think it was ever worth 104
68:20 billion that's the one that really sort of boggles my mind like all the day one
68:24 investors the amount of people that I heard like like family friends and stuff
68:28 be like oh yeah I invested in Facebook that's awesome I'm like no it's not I
68:32 know people who did too yeah I know people who are still in what yeah I knew
68:37 someone who I was like after two days after it dropped 20% so I was like get
68:40 out no no it's gonna it's a long-term play I'm like no it
68:44 isn't so for all the viewers there who are uh sell it now eat beans for a month
68:50 you'll be okay yeah and for those of you who think I'm not monitoring the twitch
68:54 chat and telling slick to scare me it's not going to work or hit you cuz I am
68:57 monitoring the twitch chat or ruffle your hair like a dog that was a recent one yeah I'm not going to I'm not no is
69:02 it okay so speaking of Bitcoin here we go this is another this is another
69:07 article on quartz this is a long article so
69:12 bitcoin's black hat day black black hat Bitcoins days are numbered the anonymity
69:18 looks like it's probably going to be going away the US government seized
69:21 accounts that the Japan based Mount gaau the world's largest bit coin exchange
69:26 held at its US bank now I'm not going to get into too much detail about it
69:30 because apparently I bored some of you with that last thing um but what it's
69:35 not an attack from the US government on bitcoin no it's an attack on Anonymous
69:41 trading that's being used to launder money and turn from Bitcoin into other
69:48 currencies ill gotten gains and so
69:51 what's going to be happening is they are going to be mandating that all Bitcoin
69:55 exchanges are going to be regulated by the same laws that regular money
70:01 exchanges do so they have to be putting in place uh safeguards that whatever's
70:06 going in and out is not being done in a way that it could be laundering money
70:09 they have to be watching for people trying to circumvent the system and this
70:12 is going to do a couple of things it's going to I believe legitimize Bitcoin in
70:16 a big way that wasn't going to happen without this if Bitcoin was always this
70:21 like black market currency with anonymity on its side yeah the internet
70:26 might love that but come on guys really to work it could have worked to a
70:30 certain degree if it stayed small if it stayed small but it blew up and it's to
70:35 it's out of it's out of the hands of the people that wanted to keep it that way
70:39 they wanted it like anyone who wanted it to be big could not have possibly
70:43 expected it to stay Anonymous forever come on guys um so so I believe this is
70:47 going to legitimize it in a big way because it's going to be regulated and
70:53 it's going to be able to be trusted in ways that it couldn't before I mean that
70:57 Australian Bitcoin exchange relatively small one but any Yahoo could have a
71:01 Bitcoin exchange because these laws are going to make it so you have to put a
71:05 significant amount of overhead and administration Administration
71:10 Administration behind being a Bitcoin exchange but but before any any guy
71:14 could have a Bitcoin exchange that guy made off like a bandit he just closed
71:18 shop and disappeared with people's Bitcoins back when they were worth like
71:22 a fortune when they went over like $200 or something around that time probably
71:26 bailed as fast as he could and it's just rolling money now and so I I I
71:29 personally I I've been a skeptic about Bitcoin and one of the things that made
71:33 me extremely skeptical about it was the anonymity it's like it's never going to
71:38 be legitimate if it's treated like something that's just this this illegal
71:43 currency so Mount goau has come out or whatever has come out saying we are
71:48 going to investigate this I tried to go to the website and I was just getting white paged so I'm not entirely sure
71:52 what's going on that with that right now but they might be back up
71:55 um but they are going to investigate it they are going to keep on going but then
71:59 there's the other um exchange I don't
72:03 remember the name coin something oh yeah yeah coin remember something like that
72:08 it's in it's in the article right yeah it's in the article somewhere coin
72:11 something who is backed by a lot of capital yes and they're coin lab right
72:16 here or coin coin yeah coin lab so they
72:19 are have already put pressure on Mount goau with A5 million lawsuit yeah over proposed
72:25 partnership gone sour and coin lab as
72:29 well as coinbase are both registered as
72:32 money transmitters already putting a lot of pressure on Mount Gau there's uh
72:36 potential that they're just going to kind of just take it Peter out at this
72:40 point and they're just going to take over because normal people especially
72:44 with some of the disasters that have happened with Bitcoin are going to want
72:48 the security of knowing that it's a real financial institution that's handling
72:52 their money so there you go
72:57 um so yeah and and I already forgot their name coin whatever is coin lab is
73:02 basically saying that they're not going to deal with anything that is attempted to be anonymous yes that's uh that's the
73:07 other thing is I think I haven't both of them said that maybe I'm not sure where
73:11 they're both saying they they're just not going to deal so not everyone wants
73:15 the US government putting their nose all over Bitcoin well well okay this was a
73:20 they sieged the accounts that mount go had in an American bank account yes if
73:25 if Mount gonks did not have that in an American bank account America would have
73:28 not done anything about it and if it wasn't being used to well allegedly sort
73:32 of all that if it wasn't if they didn't have sus if they didn't suspect that it
73:36 was being used for uh for laundering money then it was being ignored up till
73:40 now yeah so so those are the two things one it was in the states yeah and two it
73:45 was possibly being used for Laing money here's a good one from ours Technica uh
73:50 was this yep no not no that was me okay
73:53 so hacker serving actually here I'll let you handle this one since so hacker is
73:57 serving a 5-year sentence he helped some ganker gangsters gangster well they
74:01 could be gankers they were stealing money yeah gankers gankers so there you
74:05 go guys you heard it here first thieves are gankers well kind of cuz they're
74:09 hanging out at the ATM and they gank your kind of It kind of works actually
74:13 they're gankers anyways they're skimming your cards as you try and put them into
74:16 ATM machines so he got caught and put in
74:19 jail and to make amends what he did was kind of solved the problem that he was
74:24 pushing forward he's six months into his sentence in a Romanian prison I wouldn't
74:28 want to be in a Romanian prison probably not that's probably why he worked so hard anyways he developed a system so
74:32 that it will rotate the card when it comes in counteracting skimming machines
74:36 that he was putting out there so so pretty much you take so so for those of
74:40 you who don't look at the article on ARS Technica basically what it would amount
74:44 to is instead of inserting your card this way because the way the skimmers
74:47 were working is they were reading the mag strip on the back of a card as it
74:51 went in before it went in so what his
74:54 device does is it kind of like clamps on
74:57 to the old slot and allows you to insert your card this way so you insert your
75:03 card sideways it flips it around and then inserts it this way so that the
75:08 machine itself can read it but a skimmer couldn't now it seems like a very
75:11 temporary fix yep but but still a temporary fix pretty
75:17 much every security measure ever to be completely honest in the computer world
75:21 is a temporary fix yeah oh was that your credit card
75:25 no why because people are like look at his card number there's no way you're
75:29 going to be able to read my card number it's 720p and I'm back here okay don't
75:33 worry about it um yeah so I don't know that's kind of cool that should count
75:37 for something yeah I I hope it helps his
75:40 sentence well I think what they're saying is uh so they're calling this SRS
75:45 the secure revolving system yeah um and
75:48 I know he's being partnered up by there we go yes SRS development was funded by
75:53 a company called MB Telecom yep products being shopped around and
75:57 something something I think there's something about how uh so the the
76:03 president told Rutter that he fully deserves a recognition he's at least
76:06 taking part in improving Romania's image abroad and he'll surely join our team
76:10 when released this happens so much that's
76:14 cool this happens so much okay this is the first time I've seen it with something some form of Hardware hacking
76:19 um but it's so so so so common that someone will uh break into say a bank
76:24 not steal anything not look at anyone's personal information but just kind of
76:28 sit there and then either turn themselves in directly to the bank or
76:32 like bring themselves in not get caught and then get hired instead of
76:36 arrested because they'll be like you know what if you hire me I can patch
76:39 this hole and then help defend you from then on yeah no that's uh that almost
76:44 seems like the way to get a job I mean that's how slick got his job
76:48 here I I'm the actual person that stole your YouTube account way back when yeah
76:53 yeah and then he he was all like yeah don't worry I'll prevent anyone from ever doing that
76:57 again by by by you activating twostep
77:01 yeah yay uh that's not true by the way yeah
77:06 not not true at all so oh here's a community news item that actually I
77:11 thought was pretty darn cool so the Apple App Store just hit 50 billion
77:17 downloads this was contributed by holy crap
77:21 methus methus methus yeah
77:26 55743 um so this was reported by The Verge here's the original link Apple's
77:31 got 50 billion downloads I mean think
77:34 about that they gave a $10,000 app store credit to the person who downloaded the
77:39 50 billionth app this is something that they've done before and the first 50
77:43 people who downloaded an app after that each received a $500 gift card so to put
77:49 this in context it took Apple so here
77:52 here here they are they have all the numbers um uh so the blah blah blah
77:56 September 2012 the Play Store hit 25 billion downloads and it's been
78:00 announced today that they're closing in at 48 billion uh the Windows phone store
78:05 has reached its first billion a few months ago blackberry's app world
78:09 reached three billion downloads last year and uh where was it I remember
78:14 reading somewhere how long it took them to reach the first million downloads and
78:19 basically the rate at which apps are being downloaded these days is
78:23 absolutely insane and crazy and I think
78:27 it's really I think it's really awesome I think it's really cool it really shows
78:30 sort of where the market shares at as well you kind of go yeah apple apple
78:35 Google where Apple had the Long Head Start well I guess not that long but
78:39 they had a head start still pretty substantially they had a significant Head Start Over Android and Android
78:43 quite frankly sucked at the beginning anyway so uh so yeah very very very cool
78:49 50 billion downloads I mean just
78:53 unfathomable numbers that's enough for for every person on Earth to have like
78:58 seven
79:05 apps like what seriously yeah that's
79:08 actually kind of insane but you also got to figure out they're probably
79:11 calculating every time you like re reset your phone yeah oh yeah every time you
79:15 restore apps every time time every time
79:19 I know there's a lot of arbitrary going on speaking of Android and the
79:23 experience sucking uh the experience
79:26 might be about to get better than anything that we've ever seen before so
79:31 fil or Phil or whatever man you guys got
79:34 to have names I can pronounce on the Forum there uh so the original article
79:39 is from geek.com but at the Google iio
79:43 event Samsung made a huge announcement
79:46 and that is that the Galaxy S4 will have
79:49 a stock vanilla Google Experience
79:53 discuss kind of talked about this a little bit already when not a lot but a little bit
79:59 a little bit yeah I didn't talk about like I talked about how my favorite
80:03 phone was an nexs okay hold on before you talk okay hold that thought don't
80:06 forget okay while slick is talking I want you guys on Twitter to tweet us and
80:12 let us know on a scale of 1 to 10 how matter you if you already bought a
80:17 Galaxy S4 with Touch wiz and now for
80:20 what is it 649 in the Play Store yeah yeah 649 in the Play Store you can get
80:25 an S4 that gets the Nexus treatment instant Google updates for the lifetime
80:30 of the device holy crap that makes it I
80:34 mean it has I mean it's crazy to me that it's going to be a Google device at all
80:38 because Google's trying to get away from the three buttons on the bottom and
80:42 Samsung basically gave them the old uh on that just did it anyway okay
80:49 and um it's got a MicroSD which Google
80:52 wants to get away from okay
80:55 like it's what's the deal it's awesome I
80:58 like okay so guys tell us how mad you are back to the Nexus experience I guess
81:02 while we wait for this I I loved my nexs because of the updates going like crazy
81:07 so I was not that intrigued when S4 came out but now I'm actually kind of
81:11 intrigued I'm not going to go step out and spend 650 bucks on a new phone but
81:15 it seems viable now to upgrade from an S3 because I see like the value in
81:20 getting a phone that will be updated by Google all the time yep and I mean
81:24 Samsung notoriously differentiates their phones by software exact which is just
81:29 not cool at all no um apparently no one
81:33 on Twitter wants to talk about this 10 really mad what's the deal oh there's
81:36 one yeah all right so let's go let's go to the Twitter
81:40 boards um is this going to happen to the xeria Z kind of doubt it only issue is
81:46 will the Nexus experience S4 be CDMA compatible not I think are there like
81:51 one or two different um I read something
81:55 remember getting it yeah can't remember okay so oh oh there are a bunch of
81:59 responses I just couldn't find them yeah if I had bought it I would be ultra
82:03 upset is the word that Bernardo meant to use uh you guys are talking about the
82:07 shield streaming there's an app called kany that does that it works over 3G and
82:10 4G to that's very cool okay uh I think
82:14 you can just download the ROM and install it on your Samsung S4 if that's
82:19 possible then that's very cool I would not be mad because I would root the
82:23 thing in a heartbeat okay fair enough 9,000 out of 10 mad cuz not everyone is
82:28 comfortable rooting their phone just throwing that out there the Droid DNA
82:32 took me like four to six hours to rout and S off and whatever all the things
82:36 you have to do uh in order to and like get the latest over the air update that
82:40 somehow made the phone not rootable it's still not rootable and so I had to do
82:44 all these things in a particular order I'd never rooted a phone before it's
82:48 not that easy with some devices
82:52 so not mad cuz I got an I phone 10 really mad what's the
82:58 deal um not at all thanks to XDA
83:02 Developers which I should have used already I am mad Verizon locked down the
83:06 DNA when HTC had given it to us unlocked for ROMs okay yeah yeah I'm mad about
83:11 that too they both have the same Hardware so anyone who wants stock badly
83:14 enough can find a rom update within a day this is true uh we already talked
83:18 about this Sean first time watching live from
83:21 Tasmania hello hello apparently we're goofy awesome that must be Australian
83:27 like attempts at English my favorite Australian whoa sorry guys I love you
83:32 guys my favorite Australian thing is sta what and they literally just type sta
83:37 that mean like Australia but with a heavy Australian accent okay that's my
83:42 favorite thing ever it's so awesome listening to the stream with wireless
83:45 headphones that's a good idea uh
83:50 Casper zero I root can't care don't care
83:53 don't own for but I'd be mad OEM should support AOSP more often like with Nexus
83:59 it's a pain to get it to work with the devices I honestly I I wish even just to
84:05 try it I wish I could try a stock Google Experience on the HTC1 for example I
84:11 understand why it's not that easy and developing multiple firmware streams and
84:15 multiple software streams is a problem um I mean especially with the
84:20 hardware being so diverse on the Android platform but it just yeah I kind of wish
84:25 I could at least try it um okay so you know what I think
84:29 that's pretty much it do you want to do build logs of the week sure and then we
84:33 are going to start the
84:38 Afterparty uh should I go get that ready sure I can do builds you can go
84:43 get that ready sure hope we won't so guys we're going to be doing Super Mario
84:46 live stream and uh peace slick just uh stop it when
84:51 you're done sure we'll do project chapy
84:54 okay I might stick around for this which which scene is it three four four for a
84:58 limited time only by an Intel oh I asked
85:01 what scene it was well no I on there it's F4 oh that's weird yeah don't worry
85:06 about it why why would you there's a because F1 always brings up
85:13 help why don't you show them the build block okay so I'm going to slow scroll
85:18 through this cuz I can barely use this keyboard the first few pictures are just
85:21 kind of him getting ready and then he does a test fit so don't worry no stock
85:26 CPU Cooler just going to put that out there right now so nobody freaks out
85:29 there's no stock CPU Cooler he's just doing a test
85:32 fit pretty nice sleeving I like it uh we
85:36 will see when he does white sleeving here he does a zoom in of it it looks
85:40 quite good uh where's the better zoom in of it that replaceable ring thing on on
85:46 Corsair fans is actually like the smartest thing ever it's really cool cuz you can make it go to your system so
85:51 it's nice like it's nice that he sleeved it it's a little bit loose sleeping you
85:54 see that it's a little bit loose sleeving but you probably won't notice
85:58 that much unless you're really looking really close so you start to see it
86:02 coming together the sleeving kind of crazy colors here but it it ends up looking awesome this took me off by a
86:07 guard at first because I was like what orientation is that in it took me a little while to figure it out and then I
86:11 got pretty excited because that looks very cool once you actually get to see it in the build now you start
86:16 questioning things cuz you're like wait he has a closed loop cooler and there's
86:19 a reservoir there and he's got tubing
86:22 it's like what's happening and I just got oh this is so cool so he took apart
86:26 his close loop cooler and adds a reservoir to
86:30 it which is
86:33 awesome just totally
86:37 awesome so cool because I can because
86:40 you know what it looks way better that's what I'm assuming he was thinking
86:45 because it does it looks super cool he's got his own tub he's got a Reservoir in
86:49 there it didn't cost him way too much he definitely doesn't have the cost
86:53 of doing a whole whole custom water loop although at this point it's basically a
86:56 whole custom water loop so it looks great he did a little
87:01 bit there you go there's a good shot of the SSD you can see how it's mounted there in the bottom right vertically so
87:05 it shows really really well when you're looking inside of the case he's got a
87:08 reservoir which makes the whole thing look a billion times better it's just
87:13 very very cool little build not a if you
87:17 don't count the reservoir not a ton of mod work although he did sleeve all the
87:21 way to the power supply so I guess that's just totally not true the definitely a ton of mod work on this
87:26 great job I don't remember which username this was Jeffrey Rodriguez Good
87:31 Job dude that was an awesome build that was very very cool I'm going to switch
87:36 over to scene one here we go sorry I'm not so good at this let me grab the
87:41 other build now to go to the complete other spectrum of good-looking builds we
87:48 get my R4 which is easily the most creative named thing I've ever seen so I
87:54 don't know what you guys are talking about he doesn't have a ton of in progress shots or zero but that's his
88:01 computer no in progress shots it's done
88:04 I like this build a lot because when I first saw it my first reaction was like
88:08 oh that's photo booed or like Lightroom because it just seems like everything
88:14 goes so well together and then I realized that it's actually probably not
88:17 that's probably exactly what it looks like he pulled the label off the power
88:21 supply sleeved his PSU and the whole
88:24 thing looks amazing not a ton of steps
88:28 and it looks absolutely fantastic I don't see a ton of people pulling off
88:31 labels off power supplies um I think he also pulled the
88:35 stickers off the top of his IO ports I'm going to try and point with my mouse for
88:39 once so in here there were probably
88:42 originally some stickers in there this is one thing I do that I do not see very
88:46 many people doing but I think it really really improves the look of the build because when you have like Intel gigabit
88:51 sticker that is totally in a color profile doesn't match the rest of your
88:55 build I don't think it looks that great um but yeah this build just looks so
89:01 clean so insanely clean and not the
89:04 clean where it's like pearl white clean this just looks crazy sophisticated
89:09 clean it's very very nice looking build gentle typhoons were a perfect choice
89:14 for the look of this build absolutely perfect I've got some in my build they
89:17 look great they're very simplistic but they look great it's just minimalism you
89:22 can tell with his headphones on the headphones stand back there which are awesome um just I'm I have a feeling
89:27 this guy is into minimalism his cable management is great he did a really good
89:30 job he's got his SSD mounted back there which is awesome I'm not a huge fan of
89:34 the SSD mounting in this case because if I remember correctly you have to screw
89:38 it in from behind the motherboard so to take it off or put another one in you
89:43 have to take the motherboard out which is a little bit annoying um yeah it's
89:47 just an awesome build and then and then this is this is kind of my favorite part
89:52 very nice engraved keycap apps those are awesome nice keyboard he's got there
89:57 nice keyboards always I think tie everything together and that's where you
90:00 can totally see people's kind of personality come in because this is
90:03 where I got the affirmation that he was into minimalism because checking out his
90:06 keyboard it's just a very very nice
90:10 build I'm going to show you guys a little shot of that again um so thanks a lot for build logs
90:16 I want to do a quick shout out to the Intel response team I don't have a URL
90:20 here but maybe one of my mods can post it in twitch chat we are recruiting
90:24 people um no one has gotten messages back yet just by the way and if we don't
90:27 message you I'm sorry but we just have tons of applicants um if you get in we
90:32 will message you we'll get that rolling Intel response team is awesome the idea
90:35 of the Intel response team is your alius Tech tips Forum member who has join the
90:40 Intel response team we do not want you to answer any questions that you
90:44 wouldn't already answer and we don't want to influence your answer if you
90:48 would normally suggest AMD to this person please suggest AMD to that person
90:52 this is if you're joining until respond team if it's a use case that AMD makes
90:56 more sense do that we do not want to influence your answer all the Intel
91:00 response team is for is that if someone has an Intel processor or if someone is
91:04 interested in buying an Intel processor that person should get a premium
91:08 experience so Intel wants to sponsor the
91:11 team so what the team will get is swag and prizes and they're pretty serious
91:15 swag and pretty serious prizes and it's from Intel so if it's stuff that Intel
91:20 makes and it's fairly high-end I'm not saying exactly what it is but it's GNA
91:24 be good so the prizes are pretty awesome they're giving them out on a monthly
91:27 basis it'll be basically you have to do 30 posts a month and it's not for lineus
91:32 Tech tips Forum um you get an amount of I'll explain the point system later
91:37 what's up I okay there's a cat in
91:42 here he came in when you left last okay
91:45 so you have to do 30 posts but we're looking for posts outside of the Forum
91:49 and inside the Forum the posts about Intel that are going to be consumed
91:53 within the line sect for them they're going to go really fast so basically if
91:57 you only Post online as Tech tips you probably won't be able to stay because
92:01 we need 30 posts from each member every month and you won't be able to get 30
92:05 posts every month with all the other people answering questions
92:09 um you have to be the best person there so it has to be a long very very good
92:14 answer it's it's
92:20 not it's not going to be super easy this
92:23 isn't for people that are going to school and have a part-time job and have
92:26 no extra time this is for people that have a lot of extra time already post a
92:30 ton on forums and are already doing this kind of stuff this isn't like a
92:34 lifestyle change idea this is we want to reward you for things that you're
92:37 already doing so if that sounds like something that you're into I might have
92:41 missed some things check out the post that windspeed made on our Forum
92:45 hopefully he can post that like I said earlier if that sounds like something that you're into please apply we will be
92:50 going through applications very soon we'll try and get this team up and running
92:54 um one of the things I'm going to throw there that I think I can say is one of
92:58 the first swag items is going to be team shirts and the team shirts can have
93:01 personalized names on the back and it'll be like uh Intel Response Team uh Intel
93:07 response Squad sorry and then your Forum handle which is going to be pretty cool
93:11 then it'll say until response Squad somewhere else I don't know yet we're probably going to do a community
93:15 submitted shirt design for that but we're definitely going to have personalized names on the back so it's
93:20 going to be pretty awesome but like I said it is going to take some work it's
93:24 not going to be that easy and we need you month by month by month it's not
93:28 going to be one thing where you just jump in for a month we need you to kind
93:31 of stay on the team so yeah if you are actually interested in that please check
93:36 it out and I'll see you on the other side because we're going to go do the
93:39 live stream thanks for watching if you're tuning out now we will see you
93:42 next week or we'll see you on line of SE tips
93:46 YouTube have a good night everyone
