0:02 and I think we're broadcasting and I hope that I've figured out the audio
0:06 tonight because if I haven't figured out the audio tonight that's going to be a
0:10 real problem for me I'm going to go ahead and here you guys can even watch
0:14 me do this part amazing I am setting the video to public to announce that the
0:19 live stream is starting now I don't need these anymore I'm just going to check
0:22 out the twitch chat really quick here and make sure that everything is hunky
0:27 dory on the audio side so I flip of
0:32 liveness hopefully this is working I have actually I I don't know if this is
0:38 unwise or not but I have actually turned up the uh the streaming bit rate for
0:44 tonight so
0:47 hopefully everything is okay but there's
0:50 no real guarantees about that so here we
0:54 go I'm just gonna go ahead and expand
0:58 the twitch chat so that when we're looking at that or Twitter we can have a
1:03 clear idea of what's going on there we go all right so good evening everyone
1:08 we've got a fantastic show planned and by we I mean me because I'm the only one
1:12 here and we're going to start with I am
1:16 on Facebook now oh sound hold on hold on hold on apparently there's a problem
1:20 sound is quiet does anyone else have any complaints about the sound before we get
1:25 started someone says video and sound is great tonight someone says sound is
1:29 quiet sound is fine sound is really quiet
1:33 sound is good okay those of you with the audio low I have a Linus Tech tip for
1:38 you you're going to want to find that dial or that button on your computer or
1:43 on your device and you're going to want to turn that up because if we've got
1:47 some people saying it's good and some people saying it's not so good then uh
1:51 rather than rather than be obnoxious and you know turn the volume way up for
1:55 those of you who it's already fine for and like breaking your ears uh let's go
2:00 ahead and uh get the rest of you to turn it up um no I can't Pan the camera but
2:07 what I can do is I can move myself here and then the chat box will be here and
2:11 then we can all see what's going on so let's start with a little bit of Q&A before we get too much further into this
2:17 and let's take some questions at Twitter oh oh check this out check this out I
2:21 set this up whoa on Twitter at lusch
2:25 actually you know what I shouldn't have put that there I should have put that on the actual on the actual ual one that
2:30 I'm using for Twitter so I'm I'm going to go ahead and add that I I I know I'm
2:35 I fail at graphic design and this is this is not very good but uh there you
2:39 go I'm going to put that there that way there can be no confusion about how to
2:43 ask me a question on Twitter I'm not taking questions on Facebook tonight
2:47 although I am now on Facebook you can
2:50 reach me at my aha my Linus Tech page
2:54 there it is with my epic how do I hide my admin control panel there it goes
2:58 finally you can see my epic picture of me and FPS Doug that was about four
3:03 years ago I think at this point at fragga palooza and then because you guys
3:08 were trolling me so hard with the do you even lift bro meme I decided to look it
3:13 up at the end of last week's live stream so now I have a picture of myself
3:17 flexing and it's captioned now that I cleverly understand the internet meme
3:21 and all that good stuff so here we go
3:24 yeah so basically my Facebook page is just a clone of everything that's on
3:28 Twitter so if you don't follow on if you
3:31 already are following on Twitter you're probably not going to see anything else there I mean the thing that I like about
3:35 Facebook here maybe the baby wants to visit us for a little bit tonight the
3:38 thing I like about Facebook is that the posts are a little bit more persistent
3:42 which is very convenient because the thing about Twitter is I can tweet
3:45 something and if you guys are following like a billion and one different people
3:49 on Twitter then you're going to miss a lot of uh a lot of the stuff and I get a
3:53 lot of questions like I'll say hey guys live stream starting in an hour and then
3:57 I'll get like six people tweeting back at me when does the live stream start
4:01 and it's because they don't really see it so if you follow on Facebook then
4:04 it'll be a lot easier to keep track and uh and that should be less difficult for
4:09 everybody so my baby has decided to join us again tonight although he's a little
4:14 distracted he's getting started on his solid foods now so tonight he had some
4:18 peas which was very exciting for him
4:21 he's staring at the screen he doesn't know how to look at the camera yet but don't worry we'll get him trained up
4:25 he'll figure out how to do this whole camera presentation thing thing it's a
4:30 little bit squirmy tonight but okay let's take some Twitter questions cuz I
4:34 did promise I'd do that so 36 new interactions what happened to the
4:38 cabling guide what do you mean what happened to okay you know what you might
4:43 have to go sit with Mom okay there you go uh cabling guide nothing happened to
4:47 the cabling guide in fact if we go on the
4:51 YouTubes then I'm sure we can find the
4:54 cable guide NC Cable Management guide featuring
5:00 ultimate AMD system with 162,000 views so that is how you can find that one
5:04 Devon needs help to overclock his toast H Devon you are beyond help I'm sorry
5:08 there's nothing I can do for you for a boot Drive in some key games is it worth
5:12 paying $35 more for the Intel 520 series
5:16 or get a Vertex 4128 great question um for a boot Drive
5:21 in some key games I'm of the opinion that pretty much any modern SSD and by
5:25 modern SSD I don't mean like failed super low-end mod ssds like like an
5:31 agility 4 for example but any modern SSD
5:34 a performance oriented drive you probably won't notice the difference
5:38 daytoday between that and any other drive so um would I pay $35 more for a
5:45 120 gig drive with the way that 120 gig
5:48 drives are priced these days I probably wouldn't however I don't know if I'd
5:52 necessarily go with the Vertex 4 128 either I would probably lean towards a
5:55 Samsung 830 if you can still find one or an 840 or or something like a crucial M4
6:01 just because uh I don't know if you've been paying any attention to sort of the
6:05 stock market news with ocz but um you
6:08 know they're going through a bit of a rough patch right now and it's one of those things where if anything did
6:13 happen to ocz yeah you got a 5-year warranty on that Vertex 4 how do you
6:18 claim a warranty if they don't have any
6:21 more vertex 4S to provide to you so I
6:24 don't know I don't know I would probably go a different route hey lonus why does
6:28 everyone say go Intel when you look at an AMD CPU and the gigahertz in cash is
6:32 way higher for less money Roman it's because gigahertz and cash is totally
6:37 meaningless take everything you thought you knew about gigahertz and cash and
6:43 throw it out the window you see that window right there that's where I would
6:46 throw it because it doesn't matter it doesn't mean anything what matters is
6:50 the actual real world performance of a product you can never ever compare one
6:56 CPU to another one based on gigahertz in cash unless they're using the same
7:01 architecture so a great example of this was back in the Core 2 Duo days um you
7:07 could find a shoot I don't even remember what anything I think e4300
7:13 e6300 e6600 and then I think there might have
7:17 been a different there were four CPUs that were identical in terms of
7:20 architecture and frequency manufacturing process except for the cash that's the
7:25 only time when you can kind of do some benchmarks and figure out how they
7:29 perform compared to each other and truly evaluate the value of cash in terms of
7:34 performance and then when it comes to gigahertz totally meaningless unless
7:37 they're using exactly the same architecture with the same amount of cash so don't worry about it um Intel
7:43 CPUs are higher performing particularly for gaming and that's just the way it is
7:48 whatever the spec is
7:52 um don't have context for this but okay
7:57 greetings from Croatia hello thank you for watching live that is fantastic uh
8:03 Jacob asks will there ever be a warehouse sale in Ontario actually there
8:06 was one once I'm not sure if they're planning another one anytime soon but
8:09 there was one pochman asks what is the best sub $70 headset I have a good
8:14 receiver um I can't really think of any headset that I'd probably recommend in
8:18 the sub7 range once you get up to around 100 bucks um you're looking at something
8:23 like an ASUS uh Vulcan or a steel series
8:26 7h those are both excellent headsets but
8:29 anything sort of at that price range is going to be not that great uh Matias
8:34 asks what's my favorite 680 custom cooler honestly I don't have one um I'm
8:39 more of a water cooling guy so I buy
8:43 water block yeah um Jen P muron asks do I know
8:48 a good Canadian ISP that offers bandwidth reliability and speed personally I'm using Shaw I like them a
8:53 lot better than Tellis although the options are completely different in the East so that might not be relevant for
8:57 you at all my my card keeps crashing when I unplug one of my displays asks or
9:03 proclaims btek btek why are you unplugging your displays I guess what
9:08 I'd recommend to you is keep your display plugged in um it's possible okay
9:13 more serious more serious suggestion it's possible that something's shorting out when you're unplugging and plugging
9:18 it in so you might want to try being really careful make sure your case is correctly grounded
9:23 um yeah it's it's possible there's something going on it's possible that
9:27 it's a problem on the actual monitor side itself and that's what's causing
9:31 the short and then that's what's shorting your card and causing your your
9:35 computer to crash or whatever else so um you want to try that monitor on a
9:39 different PC see if it still happens try that PC with a different monitor see if
9:43 it still happens that'll help you diagnose the
9:46 problem uh lus I have a 6770 with an inch of extra plastic on the Shroud can
9:51 I lift it off so it fits in my Dell yeah go for it uh I'm assuming you mean at
9:54 the back of the card if you can just saw it off as long as there's no heat pipes
9:59 that you're going to cut actually yeah I saw actually I'm going to see I'm going
10:03 to see if I can find this cuz it's uh it's fantastic
10:07 um oh yeah we don't want that let's just go ahead and pause that we don't we
10:12 don't need that at all so uh let me let me see if I can uh let me see if I can
10:15 find it heat pipe cut off uh
10:21 images I don't remember where I saw this but someone sent this to me where they'd
10:25 taken something like a thermal right um
10:29 120 extreme and then to make it fit
10:33 within the side panel of their case they had cut off the entire top because they
10:37 figured oh it's just the little knobbies at the end of the heat pipes that are causing the case to not close anymore
10:42 and of course heat pipes don't work at all if they're not full of the fluid
10:46 that gives them their heat pipe fluidness and uh yeah it sort of it sort
10:51 of made me laugh so there you go that reminds me of that just don't cut up any
10:55 heat pipes uh the laptop I was holding was an ACR S7 and I'm going to talk more
10:58 about it later in the live stream it looks absolutely
11:02 fantastic uh Federico don't do a secure
11:06 race unless you have to uh the thing about secur racing the drive is that it
11:09 actually writes to the entire Drive which will wear out your drive period it
11:13 will the hay asks what I think of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 I am a resolution
11:19 guy so the more resolution that you can throw at a problem the better and I'm
11:23 super super stoked on something like an exus 10 um has a more powerful GPU than
11:28 we've seen before in high resolution tablets the one thing I don't like about
11:32 high resolution tablets right now particularly the iPad is that it runs
11:35 significantly hotter and has a way worse battery life compared to the previous
11:39 generation products so I'm interested to see what Apple can do about that with
11:42 the iPad 4 but as an iPad 2 user I have
11:45 had zero desire to upgrade to an iPad 3
11:48 like even if someone was like I will trade you an iPad 3 for your iPad 2 um
11:53 the way that the iPad apps are getting written it's not like there's a performance advantage or like there's
11:58 certain apps I can can run on a three versus a two so maybe it's a little
12:02 smoother but the chip in the iPad 2 is already pretty darn fast so I don't
12:07 actually care about the performance Delta and then um for the resolution
12:12 side I don't use it as an e-reader and I
12:16 I don't like how hot it runs and I don't like how crap the battery life is so uh
12:21 what do I think of the Corsair 200 R good question Christian corer 200 R
12:28 let's see if let's see let's see how high up I am on the list I am the first
12:31 hit so if you would like to know what I think of the 200r you can search for
12:36 Corsair 200r on the YouTube and you can find my video and you can watch it that
12:40 pretty much covers everything I think about the corser 200 R it looks just
12:44 outstanding now uh Christopher says wow I like it
12:48 much better watching it here on Twitch that's good someone's complaining about
12:52 the echo you know what there's nothing I can do about it right now just because my mic setup doesn't allow me to get it
12:57 any closer to me which would help us reduce the
13:00 echo um since you always talk about it what's the best budget sound card the
13:05 answer I always give is whatever is the
13:09 Zonar card that is in your price range so there's the D whatever it is D
13:15 something yeah the DG is the best if you're going to use headphones because
13:19 it has a headphone amp and then if I was going to get something that I were I
13:23 needed 7.1 then something like a DS is going to be sort of so much better than
13:28 onboard that it just blows it away
13:31 whereas if you actually have a decent pair of headphones um like a well like a
13:35 really nice pair of headphones then you're going to want to step up to something like an st or an STX or a
13:39 feeis and then if you want to get a better experience running 5.1 or 7.1
13:43 speakers something like a DX would be a better choice greetings back to India of
13:49 course I'm getting a new PC for editing and rendering console gaming videos how
13:53 much RAM would you recommend honestly unless you're doing anything in After
13:57 Effects anything with complicated correction like Da Vinci resolve um
14:01 anything where there's a particular need for a ton of memory there's no reason
14:05 why you can't just use Vegas movie studio and render videos with 4 or 8
14:09 gigs of RAM so um what I usually recommend for people who asks me about
14:13 RAM is buy whatever you're comfortable with
14:18 so in in this case these days it's probably better to go with like a 2x8
14:21 gig kit and then if it doesn't work for you add another 2 by8 gig kit and thumbs
14:26 up now you have enough RAM so um you I mean RAM's a commodity item it
14:32 doesn't really go up in price except when it does but it hasn't done it in a
14:35 very long time so buy what you think you need and then go from there and this
14:38 goes for any application I mean people ask me this all the time I want to play
14:43 I want to play Modern games I want to play upcoming games I want to do this I
14:46 want to do that how much RAM do I need RAM is one of those things where past a
14:50 certain point is there an iPad 4 already I don't know I haven't looked at any
14:54 sorry I don't really pay that close attention to Apple anyway so gaming wise
14:58 um people say oh you know I want to play this game or that game or I want to do
15:02 this RAM doesn't affect your performance past a certain point in terms of the
15:06 frequency with the exception being actually AMD's Apu processors when
15:12 you're using onboard Graphics so I have a video about that on the NC Channel NC
15:18 Apu it's actually worth checking out
15:23 uh does faster RAM really matter this
15:26 was a really cool video because what I found out is by upgrading from slower
15:31 RAM to faster RAM we were able to get like deep double digits uh performance
15:36 improvements like you know 20 30% performance improvements using the
15:40 onboard Graphics so that's one case where it matters but on most gaming
15:43 machines it really doesn't make that much of a difference and then when it
15:47 comes to the RAM capacity so that's speed because that's all there is
15:50 there's there's latency and speed which are kind of the same thing they're very related and then there's capacity
15:55 capacity will make literally zero difference unless you need the RAM so if
16:01 you are able to take everything you're doing and store it within your RAM then
16:05 the system the CPU whatever it is has easy access to that data and it's all
16:09 going back and forth really fast and everything's good if you have a data set
16:14 that's larger than your memory and it overflows to your page file that's where
16:17 you see that choppiness and that crappiness and that slow performance or
16:21 even crashes so you either have enough
16:25 RAM or you don't have enough RAM and it's really easy to figure out what you
16:28 do is you open up task manager you look
16:31 at your performance Tab and if you have five gigs available like I do with this
16:36 machine obviously I could be running some more camera angles or I could be
16:41 running some more screen captures or whatever else I need to be doing in the
16:44 background and then once I ran out of RAM then I would have a benefit or I
16:48 would see a benefit from actually upgrading the RAM on this machine so
16:52 good question and I hope that that was helpful to someone all right I don't
16:57 have a sound card thinking of getting of course are 1500 yes it's a good headset
17:01 for a non- sound card setup it's better than on board but it's nowhere near as
17:05 good as an actual sound card uh no I haven't really looked too closely at any
17:09 of the k90 giveaway videos I had to look at a couple of them and honestly the
17:12 ones I looked at were sort of terrible um I I even said right in the video
17:18 Don't just like you know rage out and smash your keyboard because you're
17:23 getting most of the judgment is going to be based on creativity for those of you
17:27 who haven't already already checked this out actually you should check this
17:31 outcome I'm doing a giveaway if you just go to my channel youtube.com/ Linus
17:35 techtips I'm giving away some Corsair k90 keyboards uh five of them to the top
17:40 five video entries video responses the theme is nerd rage and what I said right
17:44 in the video is doing what I did is not creative and I'm judging you based on
17:48 creativity so don't do what I did and then probably a good three quarters of
17:53 the first kind of 20 or 30 responses which were what I looked at were people
17:58 playing a game raging out and breaking their keyboard and I'm just like that's
18:02 exactly what I did what are you doing but yeah yeah uh my other PC keeps
18:08 beeping three times in a long break I know it's a Memory a but how can I fix it David it could be anything if you
18:13 have an onboard if you have an intergrated memory control in your CPU could be a dead CPU could be a dead
18:18 board could be dead memory um so without
18:21 sort of swapping those parts in a note and diagnosing it that way there's not
18:24 really a whole lot that you can
18:27 do can you recommend the minimum requirement for PC for recording editing
18:31 and rendering Andrew it's really hard for me to do that unfortunately because
18:35 um it really depends on how you're going about it I mean sorry I'm going to walk
18:39 away for a second here for example if you're talking about
18:44 recording you could be talking about recording with something like this in
18:48 which case the spec I'd recommend would be very different because this has a
18:51 built-in encoding engine that just doesn't really require any additional
18:56 performance on the part of your PC in order to to um to stream videos online
19:01 like on Twitch or whatever else the case may be so if you do that then you spend
19:05 an extra $200 on that but you might save some money on your CPU for example and
19:09 then for editing and rendering it really depends what you're doing um if you're
19:13 doing more complicated stuff then it's a completely different set of requirements
19:16 if you're doing really simple stuff then it's a completely different set of
19:19 requirements the reality of it is though almost any new modern PC with you know
19:24 an AMD FX processor an Intel Core i5 and
19:27 a sort of a quad core is going to be pretty suitable for basic
19:31 use and almost anything it's not like you know back in the Athlon days when
19:37 you know you bought an Athlon single CPU
19:42 machine for sort of you know if you were browsing the internet the internet um or
19:48 you got an MP machine with dual processors when you were going to be
19:51 doing serious work it's not really like that anymore because almost every
19:55 computer has multiple cores in it now and so much RAM that doesn't even
20:00 matter uh David asks which keyboard do you use I use a mionix zal 60 I really
20:05 like it um although I'm seriously considering switching over to the g710
20:10 plus from Logitech because those brown switches are pretty good um and I do
20:15 like the additional features that are available on it compared to the zal 60
20:20 hello to Belgium what knife do I use for my unboxings and where did you get it I
20:24 got it at House of knives at Guildford mall and it's a Spyderco bug little
20:29 little knife very handy not sharp at all anymore like yeah at all but um but it's
20:36 perfect for cutting packing tape which is exactly what I use it for I have not
20:40 used this headset but I've heard fantastic things about it so uh based on
20:44 how many recommendations I've had for this headset I'd say yeah it's probably
20:47 pretty safe to uh to go for and check that out so I'm going to transition into
20:51 one of my one of my topics here for the night and let me just switch back to my
20:56 to my general view so yes right I am on Facebook now so I I know I might
21:03 have mentioned this briefly before but yes so officially I on Facebook now so
21:08 you should like me on Facebook and tell your friends to like me on Facebook and
21:12 honestly it's not it's not an ego thing for me it's just a matter of if it's
21:16 more convenient for you to follow on Facebook because you don't use Twitter
21:19 I've had a lot of people complain I don't use Twitter I don't want Twitter
21:24 uh Twitter Twitter's not as evil as you guys seem to think it is and I do like
21:28 to answer questions on Twitter um you'll see here on the Facebook page it says do
21:34 not send me private messages here Twitter only and I have people message
21:38 me on Twitter and say lonus 140 characters isn't enough I need to write
21:42 you this novel so that you can answer all these questions for me and I kind of
21:45 go yeah man you know I'd love to do that
21:49 but let me show you something like that's pretty you know let me show you a
21:52 cool story bro moment here because if you need to know why or if you like if
21:57 you're having trouble figuring out why I can't answer really the Twitter page is
22:02 not going to let oh here it is why I can't answer all of all of the questions
22:07 that I get if they're all you know essay length all you got to do is do a search
22:12 on Twitter for uh at Linus Tech to give you some
22:18 idea of the kind of volume of messages I receive and reply to so I think s tweets
22:24 all I don't know yeah I think there you go so how many how many how many
22:29 messages does lonus receive sort of this
22:32 many and if lonus tried to reply to all
22:35 of these and they were all an essay this long as opposed to being 140 characters
22:40 how quickly would he die the answer as you can plainly see is very quickly on
22:46 top of that I have the messages that I get in my inbox on YouTube I have the
22:51 messages that I get in my email and it's just not doable I I I mean I have people
22:57 send me the here's my list of specs lonus what water cooling stuff should I
23:02 buy and I'm just like yeah you know what
23:05 it's part of the right of passage of becoming a water cooler to just do the
23:08 research and figure out what to buy I had to do it you have to do it um and
23:13 the reality of it is I I used to try to reply to all of those messages even the
23:17 ones that are like I don't want to do any research whatsoever I need you to
23:21 tell me what PC to buy so I'll send them back a spec list and then they argue
23:25 with me and they're like oh well my friend told me that this is better I'm
23:28 like yeah I I you know what it was already all I could do to reply to this
23:32 in the first place I'm not going to argue with you back and forth about it
23:35 Bu The Extreme edition if you want um it doesn't matter to me go for it it's not
23:40 my money um so I just I got to the point where I just didn't really sort of care
23:44 anymore whereas with Twitter you ask a quick question I send a quick answer I
23:48 might reply again I might not I try to I try to read most of them even if I can't
23:52 reply to all of them um so that's why I like Twitter most of the updates on
23:56 Facebook will still be um because I just have the two apps tied
24:01 together see I just have like Twitter integrated and so there's stuff like
24:05 this um so if I upload something to YouTube it automatically ports to
24:10 Twitter which then automatically points to Facebook so so that's pretty much all
24:14 I'm using it for just a just other ways to other ways to interact and other ways
24:18 to keep track of what's going on so looks like a few of you liked me yay
24:26 that's how I evaluate my self worth thank you
24:29 I win internets so I I appreciate that
24:32 thanks guys uh oh right you know what that actually helps me transition into
24:36 what one of my other topics for the night is going to be so I don't know if you guys have seen this already but
24:41 Intel has a new extreme Edition so the
24:45 fastest is now faster again and it's the
24:48 i7 3970x so we're going to go ahead and
24:52 search for that on the YouTubes and we can see that there's a review of it or
24:56 start selling or yeah you know there's probably no reviews cuz they probably don't care um I got a couple issues with
25:02 this number one is that they've increased the TDP again which to 150
25:06 watts which I guess I don't really care it probably doesn't really matter it probably doesn't run that much hotter
25:11 because the reality of it is it's the same CPU as the 3960x it's bend a little
25:17 bit more it's a little faster it's 200 MHz faster
25:23 at stock speed but if you were buying a 3960x and you weren't overclocking it
25:27 then you're probably on the bottle so in
25:30 terms of the actual temperatures and the actual performance you're going to get out of it it's not going to make that
25:35 much of a difference I would have loved
25:38 to see a 3970x that was an actual eight core processor with 16 logical cores
25:43 using hyperthreading but that's not what Intel opted to do here so I just wanted
25:49 to take this as an opportunity to talk a little bit about the value proposition
25:53 of extreme Edition processors because I get people asking me all the time
25:58 whether it's on Twitter or the NCIX Forum or on uh my email or whatever else
26:03 should I get a 3930k or should I get a
26:06 3960x and to me the answer is very simple um I mean the reason I'm using a
26:11 3960x in my machine is because I got you know the reviewers discount on it it's
26:15 not like because I actually spent $1,000 on a CPU I don't think that that's a
26:20 very compelling value I mean if you're already spending $5,000 on a machine and
26:25 you're getting three-way SLI and you're getting $3 2 or 64 gigs of RAM or
26:29 whatever whatever you want to do and you want to go for an extreme Edition you know what if if sort of the EP factor is
26:35 worth it to you I say go for it but uh personally that's never really been how
26:39 I rolled I mean the CPUs that I've actually bought in my lifetime are going
26:42 to be uh 2500 plus I bought myself a um
26:49 3500 plus I splurged and bought myself a
26:53 4400 plus X2 back at launch that was the
26:56 most expensive single CPR single
26:59 computer component I ever bought it was 700 over dollar 700 or $800 at launch
27:04 because I really believed in dual core um and then after that I got myself an
27:09 e6600 which was a much faster dual core then I picked myself up a q6600 so these
27:14 are that should give you some idea of where I was at I was always buying sort of that value that value but with the
27:20 full unlocked features sort of skew um
27:23 so 3930k I think is a compelling value if you can actually leverage the
27:27 additional threads whereas 3970x I'd say you're better off buying yourself a
27:31 3930k now if you must have six course buy yourself a 3930k now and then wait
27:36 for the eight cores that are coming with uh with Ivy Bridge e um which is coming
27:42 sort of not that long from now as far as I can tell well okay it's not soon but
27:46 it's not forever from now either so so yeah right so okay right right right so
27:51 people ask me sort of you know 3930k what do those go for a 3930k goes
27:57 for around 600 bucks would you spend
28:00 almost double for what basically amounts to here we can extrapolate all the data
28:07 we need from something like an an anch review on the
28:11 3960x because there's always a review of the extreme
28:14 Edition okay so 3960x so let's assume
28:18 that a 3970x is going to be I don't know 10% faster let's say although it's not
28:23 no it's not even close to that it's probably more like 5% faster so 3960 X
28:28 is conveniently not on the same graph as a 3930k well whatever let's compare it
28:34 to a 2600k so even if our new CPU so
28:37 2600k is you know 5% or 10% faster than
28:40 this we're talking about uh 3770 which
28:44 is you know what it's probably better to look up the
28:49 3770 oh that's a preview what there we
28:53 go the review they've probably got a 3960x on here so blah blah blah blah
29:00 really okay there we go so let's look at gaming performance just for lws 3930k
29:04 there we go so 37 if you're gaming 3770k
29:08 or 3570k which actually performs almost the same is definitely your best bet is
29:13 an extreme Edition a good value the answer is always no however it is
29:17 exciting that Intel is at least you know pushing the envelope a little bit
29:20 further in terms of performance and trying to deliver more performance for
29:24 for gamers or for whoever needs an extreme Edition except that for gamers
29:28 um overclocking a 3570k Balls to the walls is going to be a cheaper platform
29:33 for one thing because you get a z77 board instead of an x79 board and you
29:37 only have to buy you know two dims of memory in order to feel like you're getting the most out of your system
29:41 although x79 can run dual Channel just fine and the performance is very similar
29:45 to quad Channel because of the reduced latency that counters the uh lost
29:49 bandwidth um so you get a cheaper platform you get a cheaper chip you get
29:54 um the the benefit of like I've always found more frequent upgrades are better
29:58 as a as as a gamer or someone who wants to get sort of the best bang for their
30:03 Buck because if you buy that super expensive Halo part and then something
30:09 new comes out there's always going to be like the way it always works is there's
30:12 always a replacement that cost half as much and performs the same as the last generation one whereas if you bought
30:17 that part that cost half as much but performed 85% 80% as well then obviously
30:22 you're losing less of that value when the new parts launch so if you want to
30:28 sort of recoup as much money as you can by selling that stuff and then buying
30:32 the new good value proposition part um
30:35 with the Next Generation then you can actually take that budget you would have
30:39 spent on $1,000 CPU and stretch it over many generations where you go okay let's
30:44 say my budget for a CPU is $1,000 I'm going to buy myself a $300 CPU today and
30:50 then in a year I'm going to sell that CPU for who knows okay let's say $150
30:56 let's say it loses half of its value which they don't 2600k are still worth
30:59 more than half of what you paid for it um so I'm going to sell that for half
31:03 what I paid so I've essentially spent only $150 so far I'm going to buy a new
31:08 CPU for $300 I've spent $450 now and
31:12 it's a year later and that CPU performs better than that one I would have spent
31:15 $1,000 on then let's say I'm going to sell that CPU let's say I lose another
31:19 150 bucks I buy a new CPU for 300 bucks
31:22 now we're two years down the line we're talking two generations better
31:26 performance and I've only spent $600 already so when people ask me how do I
31:31 configure the most futureproof gaming
31:34 rig sometimes the answer is spend a little more if they're saying oh I have
31:38 $600 to spend I need the best gaming rig I'll say look you are getting terrible
31:42 value by spending $600 on a gaming rig because you're getting parts that are
31:46 costing $100 but performing a quarter as
31:49 well as something you could have spent $200 on and would last you longer and
31:53 we'll have no resale value because nobody buys used crappy hard like it's
31:58 just asinine like if you have a gt440 or
32:02 something and you're going to try and sell that a year or two later oh it's a gaming card who it's Kepler uh no one's
32:08 going to want that um so so yeah there's
32:11 that that sort of that middle of the road where you need to get to a certain point before you're even getting a
32:15 decent value but then when people say oh you know if I spend twice as much am I
32:19 future proofing more the answer to me is no because you could use this machine
32:23 for two years put that money in like a I
32:26 don't know GIC savings account and then spend that money again a year or two
32:30 down the road and get way better performance and then you'll have two machines and you can give the other one
32:35 to your little brother or something so so there my take on the value
32:39 proposition of an extreme Edition and I super excited however for when ivybridge
32:44 e comes and we actually get more cores on our extreme editions because as a
32:48 video guy I actually care about more cores whereas for you Gamers out there
32:51 it actually just doesn't really matter so let's do some more Twitter questions
32:55 shall we what do you recommend to use RAM dis for honestly I've never really
33:01 tinkered with RAM disk um as someone who uses eight ssds in raid zero I don't
33:06 really think that my application loading times are that limited by RAM yes it
33:10 could be faster it'd be cool to use a RAM dis for something like a scratch dis
33:14 in um in like a video editing or photo editing software however You' need a lot
33:19 of system RAM for that it'd be cool to use a RAM dis for certain key
33:22 applications I'd love to load my OS on a RAM dis um but it's just I just assume
33:28 throw more ssds at the problem because they're not even that expensive and RAM
33:31 disk is still cost per Gigabyte very expensive I bought an isus STX and a
33:37 Sennheiser hd598 and the sound quality is not that different from my x79
33:41 Rampage 4 extreme that is the first time I've heard that Hussein um
33:47 95% of the people well I okay I'm making
33:50 that number up but I have a lot of people who tweet me and tell me I bought
33:55 a sound card is the best thing I ever did I can't believe it um yeah I have no
34:00 idea how that sort of happened about but I'm very sorry if that was based on my
34:07 recommendation uh what laptop are you running right now for the stream I'm
34:10 actually not running a laptop right now this is a uh
34:14 here this is a monitor
34:17 see so there it's a Samsung monitor it's
34:20 a 3D monitor it's compatible with AMD hd3d which I would never use because
34:24 it's just not very good compared to 3D Vision but uh
34:29 yeah Ryan seriously this was my topic
34:32 like a month ago he's talking about uh greenl program with Invidia but thank
34:36 you for your contribution Ryan uh what SSD would you recommend
34:40 that costs between $50 and $150 Australian dollars I have no idea man
34:44 I'm sorry no idea um guys just as a sort
34:49 of just recommendation if you want to ask me for product recommendations
34:52 within a given price range um do a little research on your own find a
34:56 product that you think might be appropriate because that'll give me context as well um rather than saying
35:01 that costs between you know 100 Great Britain pounds and 200 Great Britain
35:05 pounds it's a lot easier for me if you say I'm looking at a
35:08 Corsair um you know Neutron GTX is there
35:12 anything else you'd recommend because that already tells me what kind of a price range you're looking at and it
35:17 means that I don't have to think about the currency conversion if you must give
35:20 me a currency value uh give me like Canadian dollars or US Dollars which are
35:23 the ones that I can that I can easily think in that I already know sort of
35:27 what cost in uh if I was building a workstation
35:31 I'd probably go Quadro or or GeForce um
35:35 but probably Quadro for Cad and Autodesk just based on what diesel is telling me
35:39 about how awesome Cuda is I've never really experienced it myself because I
35:43 don't really do any sort of that kind of
35:46 stuff I let other people do that but uh he says it's like a big deal and it's
35:50 like awesome uh I like your leather couch it
35:53 looks cool thank you Christian greetings back to Australia hey lonus do you
35:58 recommend upgrading from an AMD 1100t to an fx8350 if you can get a good price
36:03 for your 1100t if you can like get a few bucks back for it then actually yeah
36:07 it's not a bad upgrade the fx8350 unlike the 8150 is actually
36:12 tangibly faster than the 1100t so um so
36:16 it's not a bad upgrade however you're not seeing much more than sort of a one
36:20 generational performance increase um the 1100t is six sort of full cores whereas
36:27 the fx8 350 is four um pile driver modules which is
36:32 sort of almost like four four like each module is kind of
36:37 like one and a half core so it's almost like six cores which is sort of the same
36:41 as what you have from before except the clock speed's different and the IPC is a
36:45 little bit lower uh somebody asks if I'm unboxing an evg SRX I do not have any
36:49 plans to unbox one of those they're very expensive and I don't want to open one
36:54 just for the sake of opening one and I don't have any CPUs for them anym
36:58 so it's not like I'd be able to do a build in it it's not a very practical
37:01 platform anyway it's not overclocking friendly which means that yeah you can
37:04 load it up with cores but really it's a workstation board posing as a gaming
37:09 board because if you can't overclock a 3770k is going to absolutely destroy an
37:15 EVGA SRX with the highest end zon CPUs
37:18 so it just is one of those things where
37:21 it's for bragging rates but it's not really a practical
37:25 platform um for really much of anything
37:28 if I was going to build a workstation like or like a server I'd use a proper
37:32 workstation or server board that doesn't even pretend to support overclocking
37:36 that much uh my friend just built his first PC yesterday when he tried turning it on
37:41 the monitor had no single signal what's wrong with it I have a great video
37:44 called no post
37:48 diagnosis and uh well probably helps if
37:52 I type the whole thing there you go PC troubleshooting no post diagnosis go
37:56 ahead go through all those steps and see if you can't figure it
37:59 out build a Hackintosh yeah I do want to build a
38:03 Hackintosh actually I even have my copy
38:07 of os 10 whatever kind of cat we're on
38:10 now on this drive I am going to deal with it but uh I haven't done it yet
38:15 haven't gotten around to it um yeah the promo with the three free games on the
38:19 7900 series Alex that's a very good point that's something we should bring
38:23 up I forget it's a never settle never settle promo you get Hitman AB solution
38:28 you get Far Cry 3 you get um I don't
38:34 know one other game we should look it up because it's a pretty cool promo promo
38:38 never settle AMD uh gon 7,000 buyer something
38:44 something something right so you get Sleeping Dogs Far Cry 3 Hitman
38:47 Absolution and you get 20% off the new Medal of Honor game so that is a pretty
38:52 sweet deal if you buy a 7,800 series or a 7700 series you get Far Cry 3 so that
38:58 is uh that is pretty sweet that actually reminds me I was thinking that I would
39:03 give away a key for those three games on
39:07 my live stream so I would like you guys
39:10 to stay tuned while I log into my email and uh let me just sort of get
39:17 that done add account uh
39:22 lionist uhhuh oops I might have typed my
39:27 password wrong nope I got my password
39:30 here we
39:33 go here we go here we go whoever claims
39:37 it first is g to get it like that's all I have to say whoever claims it first is
39:41 going to get it I don't even know how to claim it I don't even know if this is a steam code so yeah you guys are going to
39:47 have to sort of figure out how to do this and I am going to yeah someone just
39:54 someone just emailed me they want the key good for you I just deleted that
39:58 email um you're going to have to you're going to have to fight over it on the
40:02 live stream just like everyone else so I have decided that I will post it
40:12 on Facebook I am writing something right
40:16 now on Facebook I am going to paste the actually you know what I'm not going to
40:20 do this on the stream because you guys you guys have to go on Facebook mine is
40:23 Tech Facebook haha see I'm totally being like a social media and getting
40:28 you guys to like play my little game in order to get my little giveaway I have
40:32 pasted it now are you ready I am posting
40:38 it ah it's up there whoever takes it gets
40:43 it ah people who don't have Facebook oh
40:46 I'm sorry about that maybe next time you'll be cooler and have Facebook no I
40:51 don't think there's anything particularly cool about Facebook I resisted getting Facebook until now as
40:56 you guys can clearly see but the reality of it is it has practical applications
41:01 for people like me who are trying to
41:04 reach people and for people who are wondering what I'm doing to my cat I'm
41:07 playing with him he likes it I'm playing with his feet which makes him happy and
41:12 uh I'm petting his face which he likes so you guys can't really I I realize
41:16 that it looks sort of like censored over here so okay I think you guys get the
41:20 point that I'm on Twitter see I'm just playing with his face and giving him
41:23 snuggles which he likes he's reaching up
41:27 he's sitting on my lap this is how he sits look at this and this is the most ridiculous cat you ever saw just like
41:32 sitting on his back like that like what kind of cat is that now he's getting all
41:37 vicious all right let's do some more Q&A
41:40 anyway yeah it's a pretty cool promo so I hope uh I hope someone got that that
41:45 awesome that awesome code and I hope you
41:48 guys are going to like me on Facebook because I am going to do more giveaways on Twitter on Facebook on Twitch
41:53 eventually and uh so yeah enjoy Eno
41:58 enjoy what h no sorry Mike I don't really have a $50 headphone
42:03 recommendation um what's better xfi or
42:09 onboard getting a new headset needs to know what's best you know what I don't
42:13 know what the SBO 790 xfi is although it's been a long time since I've
42:17 recommended a creative much of anything get
42:20 anusar shout out to Finland oh my goodness it's 6:14 a.m. in Finland I am
42:26 sorry to hear that Master Yoda Terry
42:29 asks what is the worst injury I've ever received playing badminton that's a
42:33 great question uh the worst thing that ever happened playing badminton I landed
42:37 funny when I was going back for a clear and uh I kind of landed on my foot sort
42:44 of sort of bizarrely and something in
42:47 here one of the one of the ligaments or one of the tendons or something kind of
42:51 deeper inside my foot got sort of semi disconnected or semi horrible um anyway
42:57 was probably limping for two months three months couldn't really play um and
43:01 then it was about 6 months before the pain actually went away but it's 100%
43:05 now because I've hardly had any time to play uh nikil asks should I go with the
43:10 7h or the 1500 get the 7h as long as you have a decent sound card hello from
43:14 Princeton you had a blue quick connect in an earlier video who made it a blue
43:19 Quick Connect sorry I'm not sure what you're talking about um sorry
43:25 Joseph could I run a 787 from a 450 wat PSU as long as it's a good one yes you
43:30 know what that Segways us very nicely into my next topic which is how to pick
43:36 the perfect power supply for your system
43:40 it seems like everyone these days wants
43:43 to overbuild and over speec their power
43:46 supply thinking that it again that's that future proof mentality thinking
43:50 that it future proofs them thinking that it might benefit them in some way um
43:55 whereas in reality power supply do not benefit the user at all if they
44:00 are over over specked so I'm going to give you guys a great example of this
44:04 I'm going to put my cat down there you go sweetheart and uh actually I hope I
44:09 can get this out from under the table over here and got a bit of a got a bit
44:13 of a setup issue going on right now with
44:17 with extracting this power supply and I'm not trying to pick on Corsair here
44:21 or anything because great quality
44:24 products great power supplies but uh this one right here is overkill for
44:29 almost anything this is actually the power supply that I threw out of the uh
44:33 the door or the window of my car that uh
44:36 that one time when I threw a power supply out of my car so this is an
44:40 ax1200i this is an 80 plus Platinum power supply which is as close to 90
44:45 plus as we are these days very very efficient fully modular capable of
44:50 delivering I think it's something like the entire yes the entire 1200 watts on
44:55 the 12vt rail and just like redonkulous
44:59 in every possible way um what system
45:02 requires something like this not much
45:07 you can easily power a 3770k with you know 16 gigs of RAM and
45:12 SSD drive and then a storage drive and
45:16 uh you know a GTX 680 like very I'm talking a very high-end system with
45:21 something more along these lines which is a 550 wat 80 plus gold power supply
45:26 I'm not I'm not pitting Corsair against cic here or anything like that it's
45:29 nothing like that I'm just saying in terms of the the overall spec like
45:33 what's necessary and what's not um parts are getting more power efficient not
45:37 less power efficient there was a time when I bought a 430 wat ntech true power
45:43 thinking that that was the biggest power supply I could possibly ever
45:47 need um I was wrong um at that time CPUs
45:52 gpus particularly I mean at the time I was buying a graphics card that was
45:56 high-end that had a fan this big on it and a heat sink like this big on it
46:00 whereas now we have graphics cards that are triple slot monstrosities with dual
46:04 fans and they suck back like 100 watts
46:07 of power or more um underload um so at
46:11 that time buying um a a higher wattage a higher capacity power supply made a lot
46:15 of sense um whereas we hit sort of this
46:18 Plateau around the time Intel stopped going with the Whole Net burst thing
46:23 where power for CPUs has actually been reducing with every generation until
46:26 until they ramp up the core count and then it goes up a little bit but it's
46:29 generally the trend is down um finally on gpus the trend is level or down when
46:36 you look at the 6 6,000 600 series and the 7,000 Series
46:41 so why are we over buying on power supply this is something that's really
46:46 important to understand guys this is like super super important this right
46:52 here okay I hope you guys can see this I kind of doubt it but this right here
46:56 here is the efficiency curve of this power supply this is at 100% load where
47:02 you can see the efficiency is actually falling below 90% at 100% load at 10%
47:07 load the efficiency of power supply is
47:10 right down around 80 7% okay so if we actually wanted to
47:17 get the best efficiency possible out of this PSU we would want to be at around
47:23 50% load now think about that for a
47:26 second this is a 1200 W power supply under load under load like extreme load
47:33 that 3770k machine with the 680 probably
47:37 sucks maybe 450 Watts from the wall maybe 500 watts from the wall which
47:42 means that you're only actually using around 400 to 450 Watts out of the power
47:47 supply which will put you around that 30% range where the efficiency actually
47:50 starts to drop off okay now consider the
47:55 following this power Supply will be running at idle modern gaming machines
48:00 idle around 100 Watts will be running at
48:04 less than 10% load which will put you at
48:07 you can see how this curve is dropping off here so that'll put you probably
48:10 somewhere in the neighborhood of 85%
48:14 efficiency when you're not actually doing anything intensive when you're
48:17 browsing the web or watching videos or whatever else you're
48:22 doing so
48:25 problem buy a power supply that's well suited for your machine if you are
48:29 planning triple gpus if you are planning dual CPU if you're going to go crazy or
48:36 you want some specific feature of a very highend power supply I'm using a th000
48:40 wat power supply but I'm using it for a very specific reason because it has a
48:44 feature that's similar to this one where the fan actually doesn't turn on until
48:48 50% load that's why I'm using it because I'm going for silence if you want a
48:52 feature like that go ahead buy a high-end product but just know what you're getting yourself into if you
48:57 don't want that buy a good quality but
49:00 lower wattage power supply this 550 wat power supply let's see if I can find the
49:05 efficiency curve on it really they don't put really they don't put the efficiency
49:10 curve on the outside of the package who does that well who doesn't do that okay
49:15 well they're killing me here but if I had an efficiency curve to show you from
49:18 a uh from a lower wattage power supply I
49:21 would be able to show you that it will be at around 20% load at idle which will
49:26 be significantly more efficient um than that 1200 wat power
49:31 supply running on the same system and then when it's actually under load it
49:36 will be more efficient than this power supply would have been during idling so
49:39 it'll still be at you know around 80% load which is going to be that point
49:44 where the curve starts to starts to decline so there that is my lecture on
49:48 the importance of picking an appropriate power supply if you're not really sure
49:52 how much power something consumes it's as simple as checking reviews for the
49:56 product because you know someone like an anente usually measures power consumption of the entire system and
50:01 then you can sort of extrapolate things here and there and figure out
50:05 approximately how much you need and then people will people will tell me too
50:08 they're like no no lus I need a th000 watt power supply because I'm going to
50:11 add like 10 fans and I'm going to add four hard drives I'm like yeah okay hard
50:15 drives are adding maybe five to 10 watts
50:18 per which means if you add four hard drives we're talking 40 Watts here fans
50:23 oh man we're talking like May maybe like
50:27 two Watts three Watts uh per fan so if
50:31 you're loading it up with fans you're loading up with hard drives maybe buy a 650 watt like don't don't sort of don't
50:37 don't overthink it too much here so I hope you guys found that educational and
50:41 interesting and if you didn't then I guess you can go tune into to someone else's live stream but people are still
50:45 watching so it seems like people are still still enjoying some people are
50:49 asking for the cat to come back
50:53 Rumble oh I hear him here he comes
50:56 Rumble come here come here sweetheart come here good
51:01 boy good boy that's right come on come
51:04 on good boy see cat totally comes when I call him sometimes when he feels like it
51:09 so uh yep he's he's oh look at that rocket came too rocket doesn't always
51:13 come when I call him hey sweetheart come here oh oh yeah he's over there you
51:18 can't see him oh no I missed him okay well I'm sorry rocket didn't manage to
51:22 visit us but it looks like rumble's come back to to settle and snuggle with us
51:26 for a little little bit here so let's go back to Twitter and let's uh let's take
51:29 some more questions if you guys don't know already I'm at lonus tech on
51:34 Twitter I'm really really hard to find I'm totally I'm totally going to add
51:37 that thing again I'm totally going to add that thing again wait for it wait for it Twitter yes on Twitter at line it
51:43 doesn't let me move it look at this it doesn't let me move it any lower than this which is where I actually want to
51:47 put it and it doesn't let me move it any higher than this so I can either cut off my face or I should cut I can cut off
51:51 rumble's face so what would you guys prefer I'm going to go to the twitch
51:55 chat for this guys would you prefer I cut off my own face or cut off rumble's
52:00 face I'm waiting for it there's a suggestion in twitch that I should grow
52:05 a stash for movember but I can't because I don't have uh I don't have I don't
52:09 have facial hair I'm it's a very sad thing okay people want me to cut off my
52:13 face so I'm cutting off my face uh it can sit on my head like that adline tech
52:18 on Twitter all right Twitter questions
52:21 let's scroll up where we have 1 billion
52:24 new interactions Tech this Buffalo okay
52:27 you are officially shouted out are you still using a UPS or any surge protector
52:32 um yes I actually just acquired a new UPS so I'm super stoked on that and
52:37 UPS's are amazing and everyone should use a UPS because it protects your
52:41 components from Dirty power which even in you know first world developed
52:44 countries is very much present and keeps your stuff from like dying also if
52:49 you're like flashing firmwares or whatever else your power can't go out in the middle of it because the UPS will
52:53 keep the power on what's the best PC headset to use with S card uh 7h I would
52:58 argue oh there's something really cool coming uh someone someone messaged me
53:02 about this I think on uh Facebook let me just check let me check my messages this
53:07 looks really cool uh this is the wrong
53:10 this is the wrong thing this is my personal Facebook okay so maybe now I
53:14 can see really okay how's this work I
53:19 don't really understand Facebook like I I don't I don't really I don't really
53:22 get it um so
53:26 yeah whatever it's like a it's like a mic that Clips onto the side of your
53:32 headphones uh mic headphone clip no Like
53:37 Glue thing I I don't know I don't know how to Google this uh there it is I
53:42 found it it's the mod mic yes mod mic so if you get a mod mic then you can get
53:46 like a sweet pair of headphones like something like an hd555 which I used to
53:50 use before I wanted a headset so I had a mic permanently attached I used to
53:54 actually just wear another head set around my neck and then have the mic
53:57 coming up here so the mod mic allows you to just basically put this little
54:02 attachment piece and then it's a easily removable thing that you can put on the
54:06 side of awesome headphones and turn it into a headset and then it like just
54:10 goes up like this it's not done yet but I've I've asked them to send one so that
54:14 I can check it out and let you guys know if it's any good but I'm super super
54:18 excited about that because that'll give a ton more options for what PC Gamers
54:22 can use for their head set when actually
54:25 they can use use awesome headphones and then just throw a nice high quality mic
54:28 on it cuz I think desktop mics are kind of lame although slick swears by them so
54:33 you know whatever I'm I'm not judging if you use a desktop mic when are you doing
54:38 the Silverstone f23 mini build I'm sorry you guys I'll do it I'll do it I'll do
54:42 it at some point I'm sorry I was wondering if you can tell me some cases
54:46 that are able to house a Corsair h100 and push pull you know the best thing to
54:50 do is just Google it um you know if you just kind of go uh I don't know 800 D
54:57 h100 Push Pull if you guys can see the
55:00 auto complete it even Auto completed that for me so you can see people who
55:04 have it set up sorry excuse me um that's
55:08 the best thing to do figure out the cases you like and just check see if
55:12 someone else has already done it because even the manufacturers sometimes think
55:15 that you can do it and then it can't and so yeah uh Jordan asks what do I think
55:19 about the $1500 murderbox MK2 is it
55:22 Overkill Jordan I think you know the answer to that however ever one thing
55:27 that I can justify about spending more
55:30 on certain components I've always believed in spending more on once you
55:34 have already have a high performance computer like once you don't get any more benefit from spending more on the
55:39 parts is I do believe in spending money on a Case especially to if you have to
55:43 look at it all the time I do believe in spending money on peripherals and
55:46 displays and speakers um and the reason for the case I mean I've probably spent
55:50 a total of around $1,000 on my case at this point between painting and
55:55 treatments that I've done with it and sort of modding and the fact that I bought a Dremel just so I could punch
55:59 holes in my case um so yeah is it outlandish well yeah but do it can I
56:05 kind of understand it I guess if you're going to keep it forever then maybe but
56:10 yes I think it's Overkill watching your live stream from the iPad Mini wow
56:15 that's so amazing thank you for watching the live stream from the iPad
56:19 Mini um I hope you're enjoying your iPad Mini I actually haven't had a chance to
56:23 check it out yet what do I think of the new nzx T 280 mm radiator seems like a
56:29 little reward for case compatibility if little reward Sun son you don't know
56:36 what you're talking about okay 140 mm
56:39 only sounds a little bit bigger than 120
56:43 mm but in terms of the actual surface area available for cooling it is night
56:47 and day and for these pre-filled liquid cooling kits these days we are very much
56:53 limited by the surface area that is available for cooling
57:56 you're going to want to get a little ITX board and you can build yourself a
57:59 pretty neat little machine in a very small form factor these days with lots
58:03 and lots of hard drives so uh yes Daniel
58:07 asks why are my cats Bengals well because Bengals are
58:11 beautiful and because they were born bangal and I liked them so I got them um
58:18 I just I like the markings I think the breed is very beautiful the the general
58:22 person I mean I did a ton of research before deciding to go with bread cats
58:26 for one thing because it was always something I kind of objected to uh
58:30 before it was time for me to get my own cats um you know one for the price I
58:35 think you know they ask for a lot of money but then I also understand it's a
58:39 lot of work raising cats um so one for
58:42 that and then two for the fact that there's enough Strays that uh you know
58:46 why are we buying cats and then the flip side of that from from my side is that
58:51 with the breeds you don't only get the looks but you also get certain
58:54 personality traits so um I wanted cats that were super high energy I wanted
58:58 cats that were super exciting to play with and they I wanted them to be fast
59:02 and athletic and just sort of you know really yeah high energy um Bengals are
59:08 also extremely devoted to their owners they're very they get very attached um
59:13 they they're they're ex they're just very they're very they're such lovers
59:18 like he'll sleep on my chest in the middle of the night like I'll be laying on my back in bed and he'll just come
59:23 and he'll walk up and he'll just curl up on my chest which is just the cutest
59:27 thing ever um and so the way that I
59:31 Justified it to myself is I kind of went well okay it's $1,000 per cat um which
59:36 is a lot of money but at the end of the
59:39 day I'm stuck with this thing this is this is a commitment that I'm making for
59:43 you know 20 years or more um you know I
59:46 want to make sure that I get the kind of cat that I want I want to make sure that I have a chance to to check out the
59:51 caterie which is sort of a cat breeder um I want to meet sort of his mom and
59:55 dad and find out what kind of temperament they have when when they're older I want to I mean none of these are
60:00 guarantees but it's all things that sort of make me feel a little bit better if I'm making a commitment like that I mean
60:05 the thing about adopting I would adopt a dog but I don't think I'd adopt a cat
60:09 because cats tend to be very emotionally
60:12 scarred when something sort of terrible happens to them and you can adopt
60:16 kittens too I I know that too but again it's just sort of where where my comfort
60:21 level was at did I think it was a lot of money yes but if you advertise it over
60:25 20 years of kind of companionship you get from someone like this character
60:29 then um yeah it doesn't seem that bad anymore so that's why my cats are
60:33 Bengals I did a lot of research on the different breeds sort of what I what I
60:36 thought I wanted I mean they're very striking which is an obvious reason why
60:40 why people like Bengals they have just these beautiful beautiful spots and
60:45 coats and they look just sort of amazing um and it's it's one of those things
60:49 where you know if you have sort of any desire for people to come over to your
60:53 house and see your cats and be like holy crap you have such a cool cat cats then
60:56 you know I enjoy that it's kind of it's kind of neat you know Everyone likes my
60:59 cats even cat haters seem to sort of like my cats
61:04 so Grant I own a pre-built PC that contains a 920 but I want to build my
61:08 own PC around Black Friday is it worth keeping uh you know what you're probably
61:12 getting to the point where you're going to see some significant benefit from
61:15 upgrading from a 920 on the other hand 920 is still a pretty decent chip
61:19 remember it's equivalent to Lindfield a little bit slower than Sandy bridge and
61:23 then which is a little bit slower than Ivy Bridge so especially if you
61:26 overclock it's still a very capable chip you might want to look at maybe a
61:29 graphics card upgrade rather than a CPU upgrade if you want to get the best bang
61:32 for your buck Alex asks how I like the
61:35 surface I still love the surface I still think it's the bee's knees however I
61:40 could also be sold on a form factor like this which leads me well into my next
61:45 topic which is the Acer S7 this is like
61:49 the sexiest little Ultra Book that doesn't seem to actually be an Ultrabook
61:53 branded thing and if you want to know exactly what an Ultrabook is you can
61:56 check out my video on it it's on the NC Channel what is an Ultrabook so it has
62:00 like a sweet sort of brushed finish that I had a couple people in the office sort
62:04 of tell me they hated but I like it for a very specific
62:08 reason I hate the iPad 2 backing and the
62:12 reason is because it's
62:15 perfect I'm going somewhere with this don't worry it's perfect which means the
62:19 first time you take it and put it down on a surface and someone walks along and
62:24 pushes something on the counter and it scratches along there and you get a
62:29 scratch on it you're going to be like a now it's not perfect now I need an iPad
62:34 3 um which I I guess is part of the
62:37 strategy maybe whereas this has this kind of pattern of scratches on it that
62:43 gives it a bit of um a bit of a sort of neat look but it'll also hide it if you
62:48 get little scratches on it and it won't be as noticeable and it won't look as
62:51 ugly if you happen to scratch it in the future so I like that it is extremely
62:56 thin and I'm totally going to do it I'm going to do the iPhone thickness comparison but check that out this
63:01 notebook is so freaking thin I'm going to move this a little bit closer to you
63:04 guys so you can truly enjoy the thinness
63:08 of this notebook very very thin see there I finally got it position right
63:12 extremely thin extremely light like it's light enough you could almost kind of
63:16 cart it around like a tablet it's very small see here's the sort of Linus ARM
63:20 size comparison um very small um it has
63:24 real IO and it has a real OS unlike
63:27 something like a tablet so you've got USB 3 on this side you've got your micr
63:32 SD you've got headphone jack um on this
63:36 side nothing on this side nothing there's your power which again is more
63:39 like a tablet positioning for the power button more USB 3 power in and then
63:44 ventilation at the back as well as that looks like a micro HDMI out so you've
63:49 got all these real PC IO options you've
63:52 got the flexibility of using it a number of different ways it wakes from sleep
63:55 extremely quickly like almost all Windows 8 machines you have a fullsize
63:59 keyboard again the build quality isn't what I'd consider to be
64:02 perfect I don't know if you guys can hear that but like when you when you
64:06 mash on the touchpad like it's oh oh it's oh it's a clicky touchpad that's
64:10 why it does it like like not a design choice that I'd probably have made as
64:13 the product manager but you know no one's perfect hinge feels okay hinge
64:18 feels good um this is a metal this is a metal backing this is a metal surface
64:22 here as well the bottom is plastic so um
64:26 this part of the screen is glass right up to the edge so it just feels really
64:31 really solid on the parts where you're actually touching it and then on the bottom it you don't you don't touch that
64:35 part so I guess it's not as much of a concern it's got real speakers unlike
64:39 most tablets professionally tuned Dolby Home Theater I don't know if I call them
64:42 home theater speakers but I think I pressed the power button when I had it
64:45 open last time um so this this will give you some idea of how quickly it boots up
64:49 it also gives you that um that ability to use it as a touchcreen as a
64:54 touchscreen notebook as as kind kind of a tablet because like I said in my last
64:59 live stream where I talked a lot about Windows 8 and a lot about touch the
65:03 problem with touch is that when the computer is this far away from me like a
65:06 desktop this is not comfortable whereas with a super small super slim notebook
65:10 like this it's sitting on my lap it is just as convenient for me I'm going to
65:14 try and sort of I'm going to try and position myself in such a way that this
65:17 makes sense for you guys but it's going to be positioned on me like this for me
65:20 to comfortably use it and if I'm using Internet Explorer what is actually
65:24 faster from from a notebook usage perspective think about this if you're
65:28 using Windows 7 to come down to the touchpad here figure out where the mouse
65:33 cursor is and go to the button remember you're using a touchpad not a mouse
65:38 touchpads are slow or from the home row because everything happens from the home
65:42 row to go like this what's actually faster touchcreen makes so much sense to
65:47 me from a notebook perspective with a tiny device like this where it becomes a
65:52 very lifestyle like device that you can really take with you anywhere because
65:55 it's not much thicker than an iPhone I think it's an 11 something inch screen
66:00 uh for those of you who are just tuning in this is the aser fire S7 and I think
66:04 I'm signed into the I think I'm logged into my yeah there we go oh this is a
66:08 great thread on the ncx Forum unboxings teach us nothing someone complained
66:11 about my unboxing videos and then there's a big long threat about it
66:16 um something something anyway so okay
66:19 here how about this then so I'm browsing the site and I want to type something I
66:25 want to type a reply again what's faster from the home Row from how I'm using the
66:29 computer hitting reply okay maybe that's not faster because it's a tiny button
66:34 and then going like this or is it actually faster to use my
66:39 touchpad like this um I would argue
66:43 touchcreen makes a lot of sense I would argue this is a very freaking cool
66:46 little device and if you guys want to check something like this out it'll
66:50 actually be at the Windows 8 launch party at the aine mall in Richmond
66:53 tomorrow so if you guys don't know about this if you are located in the Lower
66:57 Mainland which is where I live then I'm going to go ahead I'm going to go to the
67:00 NC site where there's hopefully a thread in the Forum about this Windows 8 launch
67:05 party and we are going to I'm well I'm
67:08 going to be there tomorrow um Windows 8
67:12 launch party aine center Atrium ground level Richmond BC there's prizes to be
67:17 won there's going to be exclusive show deals and all kinds of cool stuff uh you
67:21 can check out the event page on Facebook
67:24 I will be there from around 11:30 or 12
67:28 to around 3:00 so uh you can feel free to come by and say hi and we're going to
67:32 have all kinds of cool devices like this and um I might bring my Surface or I
67:37 might not I'm not sure uh cuz NCI doesn't really carry
67:41 them anyway but um yeah yeah I hope to
67:45 hope to see you guys there so that segue done you know what
67:50 I'm actually going to here I'll take my my whole this is my whole topic list for
67:54 tonight so I've talked about this this I have talked about this I have talked
67:59 about this I have talked about
68:02 this oh I haven't talked about the ponage movie so honestly guys I should
68:08 preface this by saying I was never really into ponage like really never
68:12 really into ponage but it's on indiegogo.com
68:19 uh pure Ownage spelled with a p which makes
68:24 it obviously very easy to Google check this out so these guys said they needed
68:29 $75,000 to make a pure Ownage movie if you guys know you know FPS dog head shot
68:36 you know the super enthusiastic guy um so I just thought you guys should see
68:40 this I I again I watched some of their old stuff I was never really into it at
68:44 the time I watched some of their old stuff it didn't make much sense to me but I figured you guys might care
68:48 because people seem to be pretty excited
68:51 about this whole this whole thing so the uh the campaign started with him
68:56 sniffing the bandana that he wore as his character and then they're discussing
69:00 whether they should make a ponage movie and they already raised about double of
69:04 their goal and then there's FPS dog who's apparently
69:11 returning you know what I'm going to check the twitch chat really quick I want to find out if the uh sound is
69:17 moving someone says mute it we can't hear you oh I don't know
69:24 whatever sound is so loud the sound worked put the something something sound
69:28 is loud it's loud okay sound is loud okay so what I should probably do is
69:32 turn the sound up on the camera and then or maybe down on my computer or whatever
69:37 else okay so there's that and then the other one that I'm actually genuinely
69:42 really excited about is um shoot what's it called
69:47 youtube.com Star Citizen that's right s
69:50 star okay if you guys haven't seen this
69:53 on Twitter already I posted this on Twitter if you haven't seen this on
69:57 Facebook already go to my Facebook uh
70:00 it's the post sort of it's not that far down the page I think I posted about it
70:04 yesterday the day before Star
70:09 Citizen okay I posted about it a while ago I think no this is the beginning I
70:14 don't know it's on here somewhere oh my goodness if you guys ever played Wing
70:18 Commander if you ever played TIE fighter if you ever played freelancer if you
70:22 ever played any space Sim games or anything like like that you guys are
70:27 going to be just so freaking stoked on this PC okay hold on hold on you have to
70:33 you have to see this part because it's all it's all about this it's all about this I am a PC game this is not some
70:39 console thing like this thing Halo PC
70:42 game Space Sim dog fights and space and
70:47 stuff like this is real endgame footage there pointing at it pointing at it like
70:51 this this is in-game footage guys this is rendered in the engine they're using
70:55 try engine it is going to be amazing and
70:58 there is a um there is a there's a Kickstarter thing for it and basically
71:02 this is Chris Roberts this is the win Commander guy got out of the gaming
71:05 scene for a while here but he is back and uh if he the more money he raises
71:11 the better a game he's going to build he's actually got a chart um Google
71:16 it um Star Citizen here we go here we go
71:22 if you Google it you can see the the money that's been raised the money
71:25 that's that they need and then they've got this whole chart of how much money
71:29 they need to raise in order to make the game whatever um he's done a lot of work
71:33 on it already there's a couple trailers available it just looks absolutely
71:38 fantastic I think this is and the other thing that's nice about a lot of
71:42 operates and moves there'll be like a there'll be like a single player Mission
71:46 based
71:51 like fully rended in 3D so if you issue a command
71:56 you'll it's all for the immers I think immersion is really important for me
72:00 because I think that you have to really visualize and create a very believable
72:06 world so that's one of the reasons why I always sort of really push the visual
72:09 Fidelity is because I think that check that out and I'm not saying you have to
72:13 contribute or anything nothing like that but just be aware of this because you
72:17 haven't enjoyed those types of games an example of that is we're looking around
72:21 at our character we can see that you know the character himself is about
72:25 100,000 faces which about 10 topic that I wanted to cover let's do a little bit
72:30 more Q&A and then probably going to sign off 15 minutes here watching live from
72:35 Venezuela thank you for watching live do you know if Intel chipset still have
72:39 that SSD caching feature yes they
72:44 do down because it's too pix uh best
72:47 all-in-one liquid cooler I'm really excited about physics going strong part
72:51 of the gaml so let me demonstrate some of the features of
72:55 inters with you ship itself is builted
73:02 Sim probably 7950 now best computer Cas
73:06 probably 200 most of the ships in this
73:10 un much like an F35 would do they're fly by wire so they take your input as a
73:15 pilot crun
73:20 tror a buy an INT
73:24 CP want say if I want to pitch think
73:27 about the news the thrusters themselves say how
73:32 quickly can the position you deliver thrust and how much thrust thrusters
73:38 talk back to the flight computer and says okay I can
73:42 get one of a Mill and I give you this much trust the whole system is
73:45 dynamically doing that every single frame flying that way it's really cool
73:50 because what happens is a lot of unexpected or dynamic Behavior happens
73:54 by it and Sy we F around dog fight one
73:57 of our thrusters gets damaged it will affect our maneuverability and it's not
74:00 a matter of changing script or data it's actually all Dynamic for video editing
74:04 and playing occasional games okay fx150
74:08 is a really great example of the level of scale and I'm going to walk I'm here
74:12 finally it's 5:08 a.m. thank you for tuning in onto the second it's huge or
74:19 Carri that's in the Prototype level is about a kilm power consumption not
74:23 important in that Cas get another
74:27 unless so one of the things that I'm the most excited
74:33 byy we have detail for scale at a human
74:37 level G muched then the same level of detail
74:44 for fly or a bigger C you know say this
74:48 figh craft is 207 how much volume of air could be theoretically moved by that I'm
74:53 building a game universe that ESS the universe and the game I
74:57 would like to play so it's for gamers
75:00 myself social I like sophisticated experience
75:07 well I'm picking PC over console because PC was what I always used to do in the
75:11 past but more importantly it's because PC is an open platform PC is always
75:15 constantly innovating I really care about the PC I really want to push the
75:18 PC think it's a great how much could
75:21 thist if you and angry about the situation
75:27 pc pc gam get any respect it's the
75:30 medium that is the coolest most powerful and that's really why I'm try draw we're
75:36 going to allow users to C and build the
75:40 pressure standards then it can get sold in the ship dealers on certain planets
75:45 and you know maybe the person that built that spaceship will be earning money
75:49 from other basic they're basically so
75:52 one of the things the less resistance you have on the cring is
76:00 cuttings deal directly with the people more resistance you have the less
76:05 important C is so one of my main goals whenever I make a game is toing up a on
76:09 a radiator you don't even seen
76:13 that the STA pressure so much resistance to
76:18 that the through there it's not going to work something
76:23 like series fans when I
76:28 was Ser f with the RoR that has like so
76:31 much space around the Absolut worthless
76:35 if you put it on a or on a radiator if you put it in an open air environment
76:39 it's one of the most efficient and Roberts uh like univers with
76:44 CFM so it's all about using the right fan I actually did a video about this uh
76:49 Corsair fan ncx or something I don't know I did
76:54 a video about it yeah there we go this one right here where I explained all of
76:59 the different uh the importance of static pressure and uh ncfm and I show
77:04 some graphs and I show a big oh I'm not even showing you guys this I show a big
77:08 fancy machine that's used to measure static pressure and and uh ncfm and I
77:13 test a bunch of fans on it and here I'm explaining about how static pressure
77:17 means there's resistance which is sort of exactly the example I just gave now
77:22 um so there you go and yeah that video is definitely worth checking out if you
77:26 want to learn a little bit more about picking the right fans for your case
77:30 unboxing videos give you more info about the products itself yes they do if
77:33 they're if they're decent can you recommend a USB sound card for 5.1
77:36 surround not really forgot that you live in Canada when is the next time you're
77:40 in Silicon Valley probably no time soon to be
77:44 honest how many streams do can I do not
77:47 the same stream split by the way uh you'll
77:50 need um gigabit Ethernet as long as you
77:53 have a powerful storage sub system on the other side you might want to check out my um uh server NCIX Tech tips I did
78:01 a video where I did like a quad gigabit
78:04 like redonkulous
78:07 um hold on where is it is kind yeah ultimate home Nas setup with a 4 GB
78:12 network connection uh I think I was running seven or eight drives in oh you
78:17 guys aren't seeing this again I'm sorry seven or eight drives in raid zero or
78:21 something stupid like that and then what I do is I run 1080p streams to like five
78:26 computers at the same time or something like that as long as you have the
78:29 storage horsepower on the other side for it it can be done no problem planning
78:33 out my Loop in a C70 I want dual 24 is
78:36 it in efficient of one int no not at all
78:40 last time egpu I meant external GPU do you have any experience by any chance
78:43 unfortunately not yet I will check it out as soon as I do get a chance though
78:47 is it worth paying 10% more for a three for a 3 GB gzz vaporx Edition over a GB
78:51 7970 performance difference won't be that much especially once you're over
78:54 clocking them touchcreen notebooks are awesome
78:58 yes I agree and thank you for watching my unboxings however it wouldn't my
79:03 feelings wouldn't be hurt if you watched someone else's uh let me just see if I have any
79:08 more ah yes I wanted to talk about storage spaces a little bit more so um
79:12 storage spaces some of the challenges that I've had with it so if you guys
79:16 aren't familiar with storage spaces already it's a Windows 8 feature that's going to allow you to just kind of uh
79:21 it's kind of like the drive pool in Windows Home Server where you just kind of chuckin drives willy-nilly they can
79:27 be any capacity they can be any brand you don't need a raid card as long as
79:30 you have a SATA connection plugging into it you can add it to actually even if
79:34 you don't have a SATA connection if you have a usb3 connection or a Thunderbolt connection I used Thunderbolt to add
79:39 drives to a storage space today just to see if it worked because I was curious
79:43 um so you can add things willy-nilly and you can get data redundancy which means
79:48 that it doesn't protect you from something like a virus that attacked all
79:51 your files or from something like uh someone formatting your computer or
79:55 whatever but it does protect you from physical Drive failures as long as you
79:58 don't have sort of too many at the same time so you can run it in a number of
80:02 different modes you can run it in sort of a raid one so so single redundancy so
80:07 as long as you have at least two drives of the same capacity it'll fill both of them equally with the same data and
80:11 there's really no performance benefit or problem you can have dual redundancy
80:16 which means you need at least three drives No at least five drives three
80:20 drives I think at least five something I forget what the what the limit is but
80:24 that way it makes sure that any data you write is backed up on at least three
80:28 drives at any given time which is kind of neat it's like a super raid one and
80:32 then the other one is parody which is a RAID five like a fake raid five that
80:36 uses a CPU instead of a dedicated raid card and the raid five parody is the one
80:40 that I was really excited about because it uses it it calculates a parody bit
80:45 which means that if you have at least three drives you'll get two drives worth
80:48 of capacity and then one for parody and then if you have five drives you get
80:53 four drives worth of capacity and then one for par and no matter almost how
80:56 much you scale it so that's cool um but
81:00 and then what I thought was that we were going to get really great performance out of it even in rights because it was
81:05 going to take advantage of your CPU which is so fast these days that you
81:08 could you know hammer it with raid parody calculations and it wouldn't even
81:12 care but unfortunately it looks like with my four Drive WD red setup and this
81:18 is pretty common I am limited to about 30 megabytes per second wres reads are
81:24 still fine but rights are slow now rights are the challenging part of a
81:27 raid five because it has to actually calculate that par that uh data
81:32 redundancy part while it is writing the
81:35 data it has to do it in real time but I was really expecting a lot better than
81:39 that another one of the challenges that I ran into is that rearranging things
81:43 about the drive pool the storage space is not that easy you can't actually
81:47 reduce the capacity of a storage space once you've committed it and it looks
81:51 like there's some rules in terms of um remov moving drives from the storage
81:55 space without just pulling them out and rebuilding it which is which is
81:59 challenging to me I don't really I don't really like that because rebuilding an
82:03 array can be one of the most stressful things you do to an array which if you
82:07 have one drive that failed and there's another one on the brink that can be the
82:10 thing that pushes that other drive over the edge and you will lose all your data
82:14 so I would have liked if there was a graceful way to manually remove a drive
82:19 without just kind of pulling it out and I sort of didn't really like that about
82:23 it either I'm still pretty excited about the feature because it still gives
82:26 people access to to raid five in a way that's easier and less fussy than
82:32 running it even off your motherboard and certainly off of an addin raid card but
82:36 I'm just a little bit less excited about it than I was before so let's do a
82:41 little bit more Q&A on Twitter uh looks like people are tuning out so apparently
82:45 they're bored of my uh my storage spaces talk oh no last thing last thing last
82:49 topic that you guys may or may not care about I have a new tech tip studio so
82:54 check this out oh my goodness I have a green screen now so I can do all kinds
82:59 of cool stuff on my green screen and then I will be using my other walls so
83:06 you can see here's the green wall here's the blue walls as potentially a blue
83:09 screen over here if I'm wearing green and I don't want to do fancy masking and
83:13 whatnot in in After Effects or in uh
83:16 whatever video Suite um and then this will also be the background for NCIX
83:21 Tech tips so we moved NCIX Tech tip tips
83:25 this room I no longer have any access to this room is dead and we are going back
83:29 to the old look I just decided because there were
83:34 some problems with the new tech tips room um Reflections off the glossy paint
83:38 and you things weren't perfect um I'd like to get a new TV as well that has
83:42 actually here I can move this down now the cat's not here I'd like to get a new TV as well that doesn't have a
83:46 reflective bezel around it because that's just obnoxious but there was
83:50 something to be said for the classic older style Tech tips room with just the
83:53 blue background we're going to go back to that and I am super super excited
83:57 about the new tech tips room and some of the neat stuff I can do with chroma keys
84:01 and maybe I can put something else behind me or something cool like that so
84:04 we're going back to more like this style and uh should be good should be good I'm
84:08 very excited so so there now we are going
84:14 back to Q&A so Q&A will be on
84:17 Twitter please respond I accidentally formatted my hard drive and I want to
84:21 recover the files I loss is it possible yes there are soft W applications that
84:25 you can use as long as you didn't do like a full overwriting format um it's
84:30 been a long time since I've looked into it most of them are pay applications but
84:34 a lot of them have previews that you can use and what they'll do is they'll bring
84:37 up a directory list and tell you this is all the stuff we can recover if you give
84:41 us 50 bucks or whatever else it is so yes it can be possible I have a $2,200
84:46 budget for gaming editing build I've been looking at a 3930k and a GTX 680 um
84:51 I would probably recommend a 660 Ti or 670 there are much
85:54 I'd go probably antech Corsair antech Corsair I've never tried
85:59 on raid good question um not something that I've that I've done uh Adrien I'm
86:04 not really an engineer it's probably not really the right question for
86:07 me um hard to say depends how much you can get for those 550 TI because a
86:14 660t you know what it's probably yeah it's probably a good value I'd probably
86:17 I'd probably consider that I know I don't understand what that
86:22 means I'll probably have to look it up later
86:25 we lost 10 minutes of live I forgot the other video in the background oh okay
86:29 that's bad how can I get a TPM chip uh
86:32 you have to buy a motherboard with a TPM chip on it is it possible to use RAM as
86:36 video RAM if you have Onboard video then yes otherwise no can you use a USB as
86:42 RAM no it's way too slow okay you have to mute the sound
86:46 yeah we couldn't oh that's probably why people were tuning out oh my bad I'm
86:52 sorry guys um
86:55 yeah oops I just smashed my keyboard when I
86:59 saw your Halo 4 copy I'm going to the midnight launched so stoked really Alex
87:04 should I should I unbox the uh should I unbox the whatever this is the limited
87:08 edition on camera you know what I'm going to let the twitch chat decide
87:11 because I never let I never let them say
87:15 anything what should we do what should we
87:21 do yes yes yes yes yes
87:24 whoa It's Going way too fast for me to
87:28 do anything okay it looks like the bulk of
87:31 them are saying yes so we are going to do this we're going to do this thing
87:36 we're going to unbox a Halo 4 Limited
87:39 Edition live wow and that'll cover the
87:43 last sort of three minutes of the live stream here so if you don't care about this I guess you can tune
87:48 out and I'm having a lot of trouble here so this might be worth watching ah okay
87:54 the plastic is off and actually I got a lot of
87:59 questions about uh whether what what happens to the products I inbox in this
88:04 case one of my co-workers will actually be buying this this this copy that I
88:10 have already unboxed so he's uh he's putting off buying his copy of Halo 4
88:14 until until it unbox until he gets the unboxed one so it's kind of tricky how
88:19 this actually opens here it seems to ah
88:22 yes it slides out here so there's the limited edition casing we can check out
88:26 the system specs which is have an Xbox
88:30 okay Shipwrecked on a Mysterious World
88:34 faced with new enemies and deadly
88:37 technology the master chief returns to battle an ancient evil bent on Vengeance
88:41 and Annihilation enlist as a Spartan 4
88:44 aboard the UNC infinity and blah blah blah blah blah digital content something
88:48 something so you get three war game macps nine Max total nine maps to nine
88:53 Max total ha we're talking about console games and Macs on my stream can you
88:57 believe that okay uh nine Maps total fourward Unto Dawn special edition
89:01 liveaction series launch day access to six specializations unique in game skins
89:06 and emblem Avatar cryotube prop and Avatar Spartan armor cool and then
89:12 there's some cool stuff inside here map packs will release after launch four gigs of storage required
89:18 okay uh Co-op two to four players 1 to four lonus never become a voice actor
89:22 thank you for that okay so this we're putting
89:26 aside and now in a world where this is
89:31 copy
89:53 231,000 so let's take this out here we
89:56 go oh oh wait for it wait for
90:01 it okay the first thing we find inside
90:06 is I don't know what this is infinity
90:09 and it has like a metal metal thing binding it here and it has like a
90:13 plastic hard cover it's supposed to be like a clipboard or something I guess
90:19 small though okay so this is kind of translucent very highte okay okay
90:24 property of Spartan Gabriel Thorne that's my middle name actually Gabriel
90:30 in case you couldn't tell the letter on the next page was written by a UNC
90:34 committee that still thinks of the Spartans as a Navy project and not their
90:37 own Branch well they wrote it and my bosses in a fit of play nice with the
90:41 rest of them made me sign it but what the committee of my bosses didn't do was
90:45 ship the thing out leaving me the opportunity to add my own something
90:50 something own something I don't know one piece can do it again all tomorrow
90:54 Spartan welcome aboard the unfc infinity and welcome to the next phase of your
90:57 stolar career blah blah blah you choose enlistment something something Infinity
91:02 Mass deployment there's like specs of like some ship or
91:06 something uh there's it's a gun aha an
91:09 assault rifle if it's anything like the assault rifle from Halo 1 which is the
91:13 last Halo game I played then it probably sucks and you should just use the pistol
91:17 although maybe they changed that sticky Detonator aha something something care
91:22 for your armor ah all Spartan four class operatives will consume a meals aboard
91:26 the something something so there's a diet thing exercise regimen ha for
91:30 gamers I led did you L okay moving right
91:33 along um ship RNR opportunity schedule
91:36 if you're feeling like a real showof you can apply for multiple specialist rankings something something so you can
91:41 you can read through all this if you really want to I guess there's another
91:44 thing in here which is
91:49 uh um a folded piece of paper that I actually cannot unfold a war game
91:54 session summary mhm okay see I don't understand
92:01 Halo so I don't really know what any of this say Thor still looking for more but found this on the network if she did put
92:06 the engines in this thing then this has to be a letter to her yeah yeah redacted
92:11 civilian okay you know what we're done with that let's move right along then
92:15 next we have oh some kind of sealed
92:19 sealed briefing thing I'm going to open this because I don't care
92:24 because it's just my coworker copy of Halo
92:28 4 attention aha this has your mission briefing do not remove from s read and
92:34 destroy your mission briefing is kill all the aliens in all likelihood um fire
92:39 team Majestic will advance on Covenant cultist Outpost with goal of eradicating
92:42 all resistance at location request Something Something Free from worry okay
92:46 I better destroy it now actually I'm going to put it away nicely so that my
92:49 coworker can have it all right we got more stuff Gabriel thorn m m requisition
92:56 really M
93:00 okay hey lus stop everyone everyone
93:03 hates my Xbox you know what you don't have to watch but you guys are all still
93:06 watching so here's your Spartan Gabriel Thorne uh sort of specs and stuff
93:13 okay here we go let's put that away and
93:17 then we've got another thing here which is like a ziplock
93:22 baggie okay okay here we go k 4
93:26 Something Something aha access code you guys don't get to see this this is for
93:30 this is for my coworker and then there's Marketplace download oh okay so this is
93:34 all the all the stuff that all the extra stuff and then finally the game box
93:38 itself which has kind of a nice actual feel to it is this metal oh cool it's
93:44 metal contains disc one and dis two although apparently dis swapping is not
93:47 an issue because you install sort of one of them or something the inside is all
93:51 blue and stuff
93:55 okay there's a thing okay guys okay okay here here here
93:59 here here do you dare me to lick the disc before I give it to him I'm gonna
94:04 I'm gonna let I'm gonna let twitch contribute to this I'm I'm totally I'm
94:07 totally going to do it I'm totally gonna what do you guys think should I just do it should I do
94:11 it one of my co-workers has to use this
94:15 okay I'm doing it okay I'm gonna put that back in there
94:18 like that if his if if if his uh if his Xbox doesn't read it then uh then he'll
94:24 he'll have to watch the live stream to figure out why why that happened so
94:27 we're going to go ahead and sort of Tuck this back away and uh I thank you guys
94:32 for tuning in to my live stream tonight don't forget to subscribe to lus Tech
94:36 tips although if you guys are really watching my live stream you're already subscribed to L Tech tips anyway and
94:41 thank you for watching and good
94:48 night
