0:00 nice it's the wind show
0:05 right man so everyone who's playing when show bingo out there
0:09 you're welcome free space you're welcome we didn't give it to him last week yeah
0:13 i know we were on time last weekend i got the least amount of like success
0:17 screenshots sent to my twitter last week of any other week because i think people
0:21 are used to getting that free spot oh terrible um so yeah we've had a really
0:27 interesting week can we do Floatplane news
0:30 can we tell people what's going to happen next week i want it to just happen
0:35 it's actually i forgot to ask you in our little meeting i wanted to ask you how
0:39 we were going to deal with it in terms of communication so is this how you want
0:43 it i want people to know you want to pre-announce i want to tell the people
0:47 tell the people but what if it doesn't work then they're going to know that we
0:51 told them what our plan was and that our plan ultimately fell through which will
0:55 be a huge surprise to only a very small percentage of them okay that's fair
1:00 well we plan on launching the what is going on here i don't know i just don't
1:05 even like no one's supposed to touch this set between friday you did
1:10 i didn't replace the monitor
1:13 i spent a while being like what is wrong with the satchel now i didn't replace
1:17 the monitor okay i just took the monitor
1:20 i did not actually put a new one there literally nothing so in my
1:24 defense you just said was actually not true right but what you corrected me
1:28 with was worse anyways uh next week
1:31 sometime on wednesday let's say definitely
1:35 by thursday although time zones so who knows but sometime on wednesday for sure
1:40 so if you check too early it might not be there but whatever
1:44 sometime on wednesday i just liked watching you freak out uh
1:48 we're launching the alpha of the Floatplane website meaning you'll be able to sign up for an account directly
1:53 through that website you'll be able to pay for it with credit card that's new
1:58 you won't be able to pay for it with paypal which is hilarious if you want to
2:02 use paypal you have to go back to the forum we're gonna fix that that will be
2:06 fixed braintree's being um
2:09 really good people in case anyone from braintree is watching we need to stay on
2:12 their good side yeah um
2:18 so right now just credit card um and
2:21 you'll be able to watch videos there you'll be able to comment won't be able to reply to people lol get wrecked um
2:26 that'll that'll come but yeah this will be the first time that you'll be able to
2:29 do everything on the new website you won't need form integration
2:34 you can just go there pay for a subscription watch there all that kind
2:39 of stuff so to everyone out there
2:42 who said that Floatplane was never going to launch because
2:47 um luke's an idea man and also it's a bad idea so that you know compounded the
2:52 issue in their minds yeah and also that the way that we recruited developers was
2:56 really dumb making a video and then publishing it on a tech channel super
3:01 dumb that was done by the way you don't know so in response to everyone who ever said
3:05 anything about that i got this for you right now
3:10 and demonetized it's good this is why we're on Floatplane that's
3:14 right this is why we need Floatplane yeah uh oh uh let's roll the intro yeah
3:26 we should replace my part instead of like clenching in the thing that should
3:30 be like flying and then like something goes wrong and then i'm able to land on
3:34 the water um
3:39 you know a good thought but no i'll stick to the chicken
3:49 to the designers you know
3:52 um yeah Floatplane the site where middle fingers are totally allowed yeah
3:56 it's completely because they're totally okay there yep nobody nobody's gonna
4:00 mind um all right so what what what what
4:03 do we got what do we got we've got topics technically yeah technology
4:07 topics oh oh oh okay so this is
4:10 interesting do we want to jump right into the Intel discrete GPU
4:14 or considering we're talking about flow plane right now we can just talk about what's on flow plane right now it's up
4:19 to you that later um up to you
4:24 uh uh uh sorry i wasn't listening because i was checking my notes i have i
4:28 have some notes from doctor cutress um
4:31 my my favorite writer over at a non-tech about this topic so i'm just going to
4:36 jump into it i didn't hear what you said and i'm sorry it's cool this was posted
4:40 by
4:52 the original article here is from tech powerup Intel unveils discrete
4:58 GPU prototype development yeah so it
5:02 wasn't that long ago that AMD made a
5:06 high profile hire raja kaduri AMD's
5:09 former head of Radeon technologies group um
5:13 but clearly so there's a there's a bunch of stuff
5:16 here so there's like there's like this
5:19 you got like a block diagram which is really interesting
5:23 there's what looks like sort of a mock-up of what a die shot might look
5:28 like like there's a bunch of what looks like very internal information
5:33 and a lot of people are extrapolating a
5:36 bunch of information about this supposed 14 nanometer dedicated GPU
5:43 and um so dr kutris actually proactively
5:47 because ian
5:50 do you really not you know believe in our fact checking to the point where we
5:55 would you know dig through all these diagrams and figure out the
5:58 misinterpretation that other sites you know might have accidentally made here
6:03 do you really not believe that we're capable of that i appreciate it because
6:06 you know thank you for covering our butts because we we were not capable of
6:10 that thank you doctor he proactively reached out because he
6:15 was sure that we were going to talk about this and i'm just going to read it
6:18 i'm just going to read it because he put it better than i could have it's like it's almost like he's a
6:22 professional writer or something maybe he's going to be weird just wanted
6:26 to poke about the Intel discreet GPU hullabaloo that's been going around this
6:30 week that might end up in WAN Show everywhere is quoting it as a discreet
6:35 GPU prototype but that is because of a slight misreading of the japanese
6:38 article source okay leave it to dr kutris to
6:42 figure to pick out the slight misreading of the japanese article
6:45 um while it uses Intel graphics the chip is
6:49 actually a test design for a better dynamic voltage frequency system
6:53 implementation applicable to a wide range of chips CPU GPU and fpga it was
6:58 done on a GPU core because it was an easy design on 14 nanometer to start
7:02 with the japanese article from which the translation comes
7:07 when auto translated does state that it's a discrete GPU prototype but the
7:11 author of who's very very well respected and knowledgeable goto-san clarifies
7:16 this point in the second paragraph by saying it was only a vehicle for what was actually being announced and tested
7:20 and the fact that it was built on a GPU was inconsequential okay so basically no
7:26 in the i don't know has it been two months since roger got hired until
7:30 no in the last however many weeks it's been
7:33 he has not built a GPU yeah necessarily yeah um he might have i don't know he's
7:38 kind of amazing but um he has not
7:41 and this is like some power and clock
7:45 management stuff that might end up in that GPU but might
7:50 not but probably would but might not it sounds like raja and whatever team he
7:54 has is probably just playing so so yeah there you go this is
7:59 yeah um like like it says test vehicle not a future product it sounds like
8:03 they're just playing around so let's go through our notes with all of that in
8:06 mind let's go through the notes that we had based on other tech is reporting
8:12 the first 14 nanometer dedicated GPU
8:15 prototype is a two chip solution the first contains the GPU itself in the
8:19 system agent the second is an fpga that interfaces with the system bus it's 1.5
8:24 billion transistors um so NVIDIA's gp
8:27 102 is built on 16 nanometer and has 12
8:30 billion but but keep in mind none of this really matters
8:34 yes because like it's not what it is at all yeah um and following media
8:39 speculation about the slides Intel has stated that they presented a research
8:42 paper exploring new circuit techniques optimized for power management and
8:46 actually you know what kudos to james he had it
8:50 right he had all the clarifications in here it is a test vehicle only not a
8:54 future product it does much to do in bold here you guys can see james's
8:58 notes credit to james good job james good job james good job james you'll
9:03 you'll you know whether you like it or not you'll have to work here another day
9:07 um because you're not allowed to leave actually wait no no james i have not
9:12 added james to my soul collection yet that's that's my internal joke um as
9:16 soon as people buy a house and get a mortgage then i kind of cackle and i go
9:21 like now i own you
9:26 see brandon brandon's listening yeah that's right brandon you know what's up
9:30 you guys know what i don't own yet
9:34 there's many reasons why but yeah but um i would like to to be clear yeah yeah
9:39 yeah so ha ha brandon
9:44 he says he hates me i'm just like in case the microphone didn't pick it up
9:48 we're just getting that out there i'd give you my soul if i wasn't an american have you been to brandon's place yet yes
9:53 super nice it is actually really easy did you notice the amount of like random
9:56 little storage hobby things
10:00 i think have you it's probably less than it feels like it probably feels like a
10:03 lot to you because i know your place has like none uh closet yeah and don't don't
10:08 give me that nun it has a closet it has a closet it has a closet that also has
10:12 the central vac and the whole no that doesn't count you can't put
10:16 anything in there i'm talking about under the stairs yeah i'm talking about
10:19 under the stairs is that where the central vac is oh yeah but that doesn't
10:22 really oh no that other one that's why yeah that's not fair yeah there's
10:27 technically closet doors yeah so yeah so compared to luke's place yeah but i
10:30 think brennan's gonna run out of storage but what i like about it
10:34 is that um brandon how much can i talk about your place
10:39 okay cool um so unlike other townhouses what's really
10:43 cool about it is it's a little bit wider so it doesn't feel quite as much like
10:48 living on a ship or like yeah like in a sliver yeah yeah
10:52 yeah um like it feels more like uh like
10:55 like the rooms feel more square instead of like every room had to be kind of
11:00 like like put in front of the other room and like kind of made it like maybe a row of
11:04 them um and and it even has uh it has
11:08 side-by-side parking yep which is sick for our townhouse it was it was
11:13 weird uh when i owned unit when i went to go park there that if you want to
11:17 park in the driveway you don't fit yeah but then there is also side-by-side
11:22 parking and an ins like a really nice garage and he's right next to the
11:26 visitor parking which is super cool it's literally right that makes sense um and
11:29 there's more coming in apparently there's like six more visitor spots
11:33 coming in soon so yeah it's it's it's pretty nice it's
11:36 it's pretty dope there's uh i like it a lot there's at least three different
11:40 places that you could put a barbecue and you'd be out there barbecuing you'd feel
11:44 pretty good about it so you know that's an important thing that
11:48 that is an important metric is it not
11:52 um someone randomly posted in here Linus
11:55 fact of the day Linus was born in western pennsylvania before moving to
11:59 canada at the age of five sure let's go with that yeah um nice so
12:04 uh so i don't remember where i was going with this but brandon's house is sweet
12:07 and i got to see it how did we get there uh i don't know i mean that's the beauty
12:12 of this show slash the the bane of this show
12:16 what are we talking about oh no you were talking about uh james and
12:21 capturing his soul oh yeah i haven't captured his soul yet yeah but i have
12:25 captured quite a few souls now i'm feeling pretty good about it
12:28 it's like you guys you guys can't leave me because you think about it like a
12:32 mortgage it is it's like
12:35 it's like basically getting married it's it's like i think it's like potentially
12:39 more hard yeah i think it's actually more difficult to get out of than a marriage if you
12:43 isn't that crazy now if we think about sort of the
12:47 traditional values of of marriage um it's not even that applicable anymore
12:52 which well no no i just mean but no look if we go back to back to the hole till
12:57 death do us part like let's focus on that part like if we call that sort of
13:01 the the the tradition of of marriage um
13:07 wow it's really eroded a lot to the point where like is it like 50 fail or
13:12 something i i don't i don't know what it is but like
13:16 we take a mortgage uh a car release like i think it's it's
13:20 pretty hard to break a car lease isn't it like you can't just be like yeah you
13:24 know um north shore auto group and i have
13:28 irreconcilable differences about 40 to 50 percent of married couples in the
13:33 united states divorce wow to be fair that what is also in that
13:38 percentage is people that have been divorced more than once right so it's
13:41 not like yeah it's not so it could be one person
13:45 who's done it four times right all four of those goes in but it is technically
13:49 four different relationships like isn't that so like i was looking at some gun ownership statistics in the united
13:54 states i think they have more than one gun per person but i forget what they
13:57 call the mega owners yeah super owners yeah where they have like more than 100
14:02 each and it's like some very small percentage or something like that
14:06 so like mega divorcers yeah might i don't think they're gonna have
14:10 more than a hundred but like yeah more than a hundred divorces would that would
14:13 be in a call guinness that would legitimately be difficult to pull off
14:17 could you do it could you do it with unwitting women
14:23 without knowing oh my god did you convince me the worst reality tv show
14:29 like the actually the worst one
14:32 such a flag on society
14:36 that would be really difficult to be able to competition so if you and i went
14:40 okay we go we go and he's gonna be near to
14:43 200. we go to a new city every year okay
14:47 and the idea is to get married and divorced as many times as possible in
14:52 that year and you're gonna have to pull but remember you you so there's nothing
14:57 would prevent you if you're a devious enough bastard nothing would prevent you
15:01 from rolling multiple multiple marriages at once yeah well i don't think you can
15:06 legally be married to two people at the same time no so so you would you'd have
15:10 to like time gate you would have to manage it really carefully well because
15:13 you you'd at a minimum you have to do
15:16 two a year oh yeah oh yeah because the time span
15:20 that you'd actually be effectively able to do this yeah yeah at minimum at minimum and like
15:25 theoretically you're gonna have to pull more than that yeah
15:28 i'd watch this show i would i'd feel like a terrible i would
15:31 never tell anybody i watched no exactly yeah see i'm saying it now because it doesn't
15:35 exist but like playboy wars
15:39 that's a suggestion from uh av guy
15:42 oh man um
15:47 wow and you should have okay you can have two different shows going on at the same time because you should have
15:51 marriage wars you should have the guys trying to do it and you should have the
15:55 girls trying to do it yeah like guys versus girls you know what
15:59 we'd be at such a disadvantage i think so i i have to but who knows
16:04 like maybe not because it might be harder to convince a guy to marry you oh
16:10 oh and then there's like the bisexual and gay aspect right right
16:16 oh man where like you might be able to spend more because of how that community
16:20 works and like whatever else okay so
16:23 just to like not that it matters but both luke and i are straight yep um
16:30 answer me this if it meant that in the spirit of winning the competition
16:35 you know maybe a competitive ass go
16:39 it's it depends on see if we could i know you do almost anything you'll win
16:44 at almost anything yeah
16:48 especially if it's against you
16:51 if it's against almost like anyone else no
16:56 but if you knew that i was if i could see your numbers and you were like right
17:01 beside me if we're at like 90 and we're both at like 90.
17:06 if i've gone this whole competition and it just needs that much more to win
17:10 like i'd consider it oh man all right so anyway i'm already that much of a giant
17:15 jerk i'm trying to not swear so the yeah oh yeah you're a terrible person you're
17:20 a terrible person already um
17:23 what's one more deed that is against your
17:28 thing yeah i don't know yeah you're already horrible yeah so like
17:32 does it matter if you're destroying women or men at that point that's what i
17:36 mean yeah and like it's another lie so this is not a good show no you know i
17:41 don't know what the network is that does all the reality shows but if there's any
17:45 exacts watching don't do it please don't do this you know the crazy thing about
17:49 it though is is it really any worse than something
17:53 like the bachelor having actors on it yeah
17:56 well because okay if there has ever at any point been
18:02 anyone who participated in that show that wasn't purely an actor who actually
18:07 like believed in it because you know when they're going to do the rest of
18:10 their stuff okay so there was the one tv show in i believe it was the uk someone
18:15 could correct me on this where they had a talent search show that was fake have
18:19 you heard about that no and they particularly picked people that were
18:22 terrible and kept pushing them through and then i don't think they televised
18:26 any of it or something and then the very last episode they televised and had a
18:30 live studio audience and they basically told them on stage like you're horrible
18:34 and it was super awkward it was it was it's i don't remember the
18:38 name of the show but you can watch the last episode on youtube and it has a
18:42 giant dislike bar because everyone's like wow this is rough but like on stage
18:47 in front of an entire uh yeah that was called american
18:50 american superstar oh okay so it was an american show oh wow
18:56 that's yeah it was it was rough in front of a whole audience and they play like
19:01 her singing like uh it's it comes down to between a guy and a girl and the girl
19:05 wins and they play like a whole montage of her singing and it's
19:10 oh it's not good and then they're like yeah so we picked you because you are
19:14 the worst person in this category and they're like yeah we're still gonna give
19:18 you the studio deal but like come on
19:21 also we're gonna give you a bunch of money it's really rough
19:26 and like even watching that was like
19:29 kind of soul-destroying it's really it's really rough
19:33 wow okay um
19:36 yeah wow okay
19:39 uh let's go ahead and maybe do some tech news because like i'm just feeling kind
19:43 of dirty right now uh
19:47 uh okay wb superstar yeah i think that's it what is it
19:51 wb superstar yes this is it the wb's superstar usa
19:57 yeah oh man okay no i don't want to i don't know 40 percent of users liked
20:02 this show like it's it's not
20:06 all right the winner revealed here we go let's see
20:10 oh the like dislike is not as bad as i thought oh that's a shame okay so uh
20:15 here we go for some reason i can't find which retailer it's listed on the toms
20:19 hardware article doesn't say uh but this was originally posted by tx underscore
20:23 two underscore step on the forum texas two step ah
20:28 or transmitter two step could be that too um the coffee lake
20:32 platform is finally being expanded up until now you've been
20:37 limited to what the 8700k the 8600k and
20:41 the 8400 all high performance 6 core parts
20:44 uh wait i5 8600k oh here we go so there are
20:50 three new parts that are coming an i5 8600 like a 9k and oh is there an 8700
20:56 already there might be um there's an i5 8500 so an even lower end is this going
21:01 to be a six core part and then an i3 8300 apparently there's already an i383
21:06 50k you know what i haven't actually paid that close attention to it um i i
21:10 haven't been able to think of a very compelling reason
21:13 to buy coffee lake if you aren't going
21:16 for an 8600k or at least an 8400 or up because
21:23 um like i don't know if the 8350k already existed because
21:27 unless you were getting six cores on the mainstream platform you might as well
21:32 just go for kaby lake uh because the
21:35 boards are cheaper if you're not getting an unlocked chip you do not need to get
21:38 a z370 board what can i do for you
21:42 i just i just aj aj just posted in the Floatplane work chat saying that's why
21:46 i don't move you won't get my soul if you if you buy a house in quebec one
21:52 i hate you a little bit two that still means i own your soul
21:59 um okay so these are meant to be paired with the upcoming budget oriented h370
22:04 and b360 boards uh pro vantage is apparently the retailer also lists down
22:09 clocked t versions of all of these processors for bulk purchase
22:13 so neat in other news this was originally posted over on digi times auo
22:19 to begin shipping
22:22 8k tv panels in the first half of this year do
22:27 you care no i thought you don't yeah
22:30 you said it in such an excited like okay reproductive and i was like i don't
22:34 think i know but it's like okay
22:38 you know
22:43 so here's why you might care about an 8k
22:46 panel and did it okay
22:49 you sit here
22:53 reason number one you sit very close
22:57 reason number two you really like stereoscopic 3d
23:02 shut up and you want your stereoscopic 3d to be at 4k
23:08 because every other line would be effectively actually it would be a
23:12 little a little more because it would be um double the resolution of 4k
23:17 no half the resolution
23:20 it would be double the pixel count half the resolution sorry okay
23:24 reason number the third um
23:28 those are pretty creative number two i'm interested you really like
23:31 um high performance display scaler
23:34 technology and you want high ref shut up
23:37 high refresh rate 4k displays okay so those scalers will have to be
23:43 developed and built for these 8k tvs and eventually they will trickle down
23:48 reason number the fourth i'm trying really hard here um
23:52 that was that's pretty right you uh
23:55 you uh you want pixel densities to keep climbing
23:59 for mobile displays actually it's pretty different technology
24:02 so that was all i had one thing i want to complain about while i have a moment
24:06 here and we're talking about panels yeah is uh i've been holding off i don't know
24:10 if you remember like a year and a half ago when i was trying to buy a swift
24:14 really great hold on yeah hold that thought people are talking about the olympics like in 8k it's so funny
24:18 because most of the feeds of the olympics look like they're not even 720
24:21 yeah yeah the cbc feeds are pretty good but yeah i think they're probably about
24:25 7 20. um but they're pretty good uh
24:29 the yeah i wanted to buy a swift like a year and a half ago ish the new monitor
24:33 my monitors right now um will just black
24:36 screen for one to three seconds at a time oh yeah
24:40 randomly okay because they're dying yeah i've had them for quite a while it's
24:44 okay um yeah you've had them since like the ncis tech tips days yeah okay yeah
24:49 you got your mileage they're doing an okay yeah yeah it's it's a little early
24:53 i think but like it's early in the they lasted a long time range
24:57 so it's fine um but yeah i've needed a new monitor for a while because they're
25:01 black screening on me like pretty and i'll be the worst thing is like if i'm
25:04 playing counter-strike and the screen goes black and then i get flashbang and
25:08 you're dead well it's yeah because so screen goes black and i'm like crap i need to like
25:12 hide and wait for the one to three seconds that my screen is black and then
25:16 i come back in and someone's flashbanged me so i'm like first of all pure black
25:20 to extreme white now i'm just like oh goodness still can't see another three
25:25 seconds yeah just need to wait it's it's terrible so
25:29 anyways i've been waiting for that ASUS monitor that i saw at ces
25:33 not this year but the year previously the 144 hertz 4k it has every buzzword
25:39 you could ever want it's still not out i would be shocked if it hasn't landed in
25:42 the next couple months oh just that's i'm not going to say what i know
25:46 but i'll say that i would be shocked okay reason number
25:50 five okay everyone is making me say it pornography
25:56 actually that would be horrible don't do that
26:02 you'd have literally like three pixels to the width of every pubic
26:06 hair nobody is asking for this
26:10 nobody you do at a certain if you think you're asking for this you're not asking for
26:14 this at a certain point it's better to leave it up to the imagination to like
26:18 just a little bit uh okay and speaking of imagination i
26:24 can imagine that it's going to be tough for Colton to sign up to sponsors ever
26:28 again um
26:31 honey oh wow oh yeah i know we've worked with

27:30 out today in other news
27:33 oh this is great i am so hungry right now
27:36 savage drink the box of jerky is so heavy i can't
27:41 lift it i thought it just ripped back again
27:45 i'm gonna have to pace myself on the maple buffalo bacon i had an entire pack
27:50 last week during the show and afterwards right you were munching on it afterwards
27:53 oh i was munching the heck out of that after the show what do you want this
27:56 week i'm down just want the traditional sure i'm gonna do the cracked pepper and
28:01 sea salt that actually sounds pretty good but i'll go something else okay uh
28:04 traditional sounds good just don't touch my maple buffalo bacon and we're good no
28:08 that's fine oh you know what i don't think we have any traditional oh there
28:11 we go oh in the new package ooh new package traditional perfect so savage
28:15 jerky their goal was to create a snack made
28:19 with the best ingredients without nitrates or preservatives that wasn't
28:22 bad for you but that was full of flavor and spice i'm like drooling right now
28:27 like actually really excited not drooling salivating but it hasn't come
28:30 out of my mouth so it's not drool yet i guess they've got 13 different flavors of
28:35 jerky some of our personal favorites are the maple buffalo bacon uh the moho um the i
28:41 like the cracked pepper and sea salt i don't think you're as big a fan of this one but luke loves the traditional i'm
28:46 not as into the traditional um what else is really good i think it depends kind
28:51 of like what what mode i'm in and then if
28:54 you have a fire hall that lives like in your mouth then um and you're into the
28:58 like really spicy stuff they've got all kinds of flavors for you everything from
29:03 carolina reapers to ghost peppers to
29:06 like truly spicy freaking jerky and they don't just
29:10 have jerky they do a spice rub uh they've got barbecue sauce hot sauce
29:14 i haven't tried their hot sauce i should actually try it i i love hot sauce
29:18 they've never sent us the hot sauce yeah they should give us give us that hookup
29:23 their carolina reaper hot sauce uses one of the hottest peppers in the world so
29:26 go check it out at uh deeney.us
29:29 or apparentlysavageturkey.com yeah just go to savagejerky.com and use offer code
29:33 LTT there we go easy
29:38 all right so what else what else we want to talk
29:41 about today oh yeah this is kind of interesting full
29:44 ping um can we do this one first this is pretty
29:48 funny yeah i just don't want to forget uh this was originally posted by monkey
29:52 biz 0985 on the forum the original article here is from bbc.com
29:57 are we going to ignore the no let's just use the name because i mean it's right
30:00 here yeah kylie jenner is apparently
30:03 so over snapchat
30:07 and their shares tumble single-handedly
30:11 with evidently a single tweet
30:14 okay well
30:18 1.3 billion dollars was
30:22 wiped off of snap stock market value
30:25 after she tweeted that she is no longer using the app so a couple problems yeah
30:30 go ahead you go first i'm going to add a couple one it jumps right before the
30:34 fall um i'll pull that up
30:38 and it also looks like a somewhat natural pattern fall and there's bigger
30:43 dips here that's not even the main one but what's interesting about it is just
30:48 that it happens instantly oh sure yeah um also there's been a lot of doubt sewn
30:53 around snapchat for a while now and you can see they're trending down they're
30:57 super trending down like to be clear guys this is only the last
31:02 uh five days and like all of this concatenated into
31:06 one day like that's oh sorry that's almost a straight line too yeah um and
31:10 like marquez recently had i think he released a whole video
31:14 did he about like leaving snapchat or not liking snapchat or something yeah
31:19 let's see here can i talk about problem number two actually okay so problem
31:23 number two is like why do people care that much what this
31:27 okay you know what no i get it okay i cared about marquez's prominent
31:31 influencer isn't using a social platform your
31:34 snapchat 1.7 million views that's from uh two weeks ago two weeks ago no i know
31:39 but i'm saying there's been a lot of doubts okay so fine
31:42 so whatever you might think or not think about keeping up with the kardashians or
31:46 whatever um you can't argue that they've been
31:50 successful at exploiting social media
31:54 so if they are like not if so over um
31:58 snapchat then that does actually seem relevant from a shareholder perspective
32:03 problem number the last for me is why did anyone ever give a crap about
32:07 snapchat i don't get it
32:11 this is now i've disliked it the entire time this is now two platforms that i
32:16 have just not really gotten and i've had a lot of people putting pressure on me
32:19 because i'm supposed to be in the social media space these are two platforms now
32:23 vine and snapchat that i've just like not really gotten that have ultimately
32:29 ended up disappearing and i haven't had to participate in them yeah i bought
32:33 into twitter facebook and instagram not like i don't own chairs i mean like
32:38 i was like youtube obviously as well but like those are the ones that i kind
32:42 of went yeah okay i'll invest the time to bother to develop these things and
32:47 like learn how they work and stuff yeah um those two
32:51 didn't get it as far as i could tell snapchat's entire value was trendiness
32:56 and so it means that as soon as you're not trendy where's your value yeah and
33:00 someone someone in the twitch chat said nudes um and like even then that doesn't
33:04 really make any sense why you just send nudes by email like i don't understand
33:08 what's the special value well yeah well part of the idea was that it would
33:12 disappear but since forever everyone's known that
33:15 you can just screenshot a record of course um and if anyone ever not realize that
33:20 yeah really i think people didn't
33:25 but then that's volatile and now if you screenshot a record it tells the person
33:30 uh so now it like sends them a message saying that you screenshot it so now
33:35 it's just like kind of awkward
33:39 i think i don't know you're preaching to the
33:42 choir a little bit i've never liked snapchat to any degree
33:46 the only reason why i have it right now is my brother sends me random things
33:49 every once in a while because he prefers snapchat
33:53 okay and that's about it huh
33:57 how else am i gonna send my nudes says elusive soul
34:01 any other you can literally even send them through instagram direct messages
34:05 okay okay we've got a perfect segue into your Floatplane stuff citizen something
34:09 citizen iem something something does flow plane work in the uk
34:13 yeah remember that thing you told me today uh oh yeah uh
34:17 i'm gonna pull up what's on there and you go ahead and talk about that because that's pretty cool we have a viewer from
34:22 i didn't even know you read that message i thought you did we have a viewer from antarctica and it works
34:28 wow he had a payment problem which is unsurprising
34:32 but but it works which is great payment problem has been solved
34:36 yeah so we can see uh we can see a map of where everything oh no he just told
34:40 me but yeah oh okay well we can see that too um and it's really cool because the
34:45 audience is shockingly global it's very distributed yeah yeah um
34:50 which is cool and scary because we have to manage all of that what do we got
34:53 here oh there's some good stuff in here uh who needs more CPU cores
34:58 this is finally going up wow so this is kind of an explainer of
35:02 core i7 versus core 9 as you can tell it is sponsored um
35:06 liquid metal in a phone
35:10 is this the first uh i believe the
35:13 laptop is the first one okay yeah yeah so the follow-up the follow-up to liquid
35:17 metal in a laptop it's actually shocking i was gonna say this might even be more
35:21 interesting for a lot of people yeah uh the one-year airflow experiment the
35:25 stunning conclusion is apparently missing a proper thumbnail so i'll go hit someone after the show but that's up
35:30 it's done it's ready wow that's a lot of views
35:34 yeah um wow there's a lot of discussion too but
35:37 yeah um buying selling and safely storing
35:41 bitcoin mining adventure part four is up so we go through some of the uh wallet
35:45 options uh some of the exchange options just kind of help the whole twitch chat
35:49 is flipping out that we finally are releasing the airflow video finally
35:53 happening it's on proplane now yep you can go watch it right now compulab isn't
35:58 a brand that most people will probably have heard of but this product is very cool it is a
36:03 passively cooled small form factor gaming machine with a
36:07 gtx 1060 is 60 or 70.
36:11 i think it's a 1060. maybe a 1070. i don't remember it's really good though
36:16 um oh no that went up on uh that went up on youtube
36:20 that went up on youtube we're probably youtube range now i think we're probably yep yep there might be uh might be
36:25 something left no i think that's most oh um i don't
36:28 know if handy tech under 100 mostly gaming went up on youtube maybe it did
36:34 anyway oh yeah 120 hertz pc gaming on a tv still hasn't hit youtube so
36:41 the reason for that is that when we're scheduling
36:44 it's a lot easier to push something by a week than it is to push something
36:49 by a day so for whatever reason we have a simultaneous release that we have to do
36:54 on a day when something's scheduled it usually gets bumped like the same day
36:57 the following week and i think it's happened to that one toy
37:01 it'll come yeah it'll come
37:06 all right what else we got today
37:13 wow apparently snap ceo was paid 637 million
37:17 last year thought to be the third highest annual
37:20 package ever received by a company's ceo so this is in spite of them being under
37:24 pressure for instagram like taking all their key features and users
37:28 complaining about the redesign brilliant
37:35 um pull out as much as we can as fast as
37:38 possible i know right personally pull it all out personally yeah yeah um samsung
37:42 speaking of which the ncis auction was a lot of fun
37:46 yeah do you want to talk about that all or are we going to leave it in the video so there's actually going to be two
37:50 videos okay i don't know if people even knew that it was happening yeah we should so ncix had their bankruptcy
37:55 auction uh on wednesday and thursday of this week so i had gone in intending to
38:01 make one video but honestly
38:04 it would be like it would be a service yeah okay or that
38:08 we would have to cut too much or it would be too long and it's two different
38:11 days even and it is so it makes sense it is across two days i had also intended
38:16 for it to be like really structured here's some stuff we found here's some
38:20 stuff we bought here's how much we paid see ya
38:23 and what it really turned into was more like
38:26 me and ed digging around the warehouse and like finding relics like i found a
38:31 computer that i built that's what yeah in the warehouse yeah do you remember
38:34 the one with the flames airbrushed on it yeah
38:38 that still has the original build that i did in it like eight years ago
38:42 and it was just like sitting in a pile in the warehouse i really wanted to go
38:45 just for that kind of reason like i wanted to go back to the original filming room and stuff
38:50 but like i just i didn't have the time it was it was pretty it was pretty fun
38:54 it was sentimental yeah you know there was some funny stuff i'll get my
38:57 sentimentality out of the video there was some kind of sad stuff like i
39:01 come across like the box of sort of her stuff to work
39:06 with every day like her gloves and like um you know personal effects not
39:11 personal effects company effects but that like her box of like stuff that she
39:14 needed by your scanning station for like someone who is really nice and that
39:17 worked there a long time and worked hard and was a as far as i could tell a very
39:22 nice good person and just doesn't have a job anymore because of mismanagement
39:26 yeah so there was like some sad stuff um
39:30 there's some random stuff at one point ed and i leave the auction
39:33 and we go play squash did you guys film that yeah
39:40 i've never tried squash before which of course is a perfectly
39:43 legitimate reason to be playing squash definitely when you're supposed to be at
39:47 work yeah video totally um
39:50 so uh no one at Floatplane is allowed to absorb that mentality hooray all right
39:54 yeah you're moving forward so anyway it ends up being two vlogs
39:59 a vlog for day one of like digging through everything because that was when
40:03 they had the viewing time when you were allowed to go in and like pick through
40:06 all the different auction lots yeah and then part two where we attend the actual
40:10 auction um i tried um
40:14 you know what no i'm not going to talk about it um
40:17 oh yeah we should probably talk about ltx that's pretty cool that's oh yeah ltx is happening right um yeah so where
40:22 we actually go to the auction uh we we
40:26 you know do auction things we leave the auction uh we run into julia
40:31 um at um uh what's that cafe called it
40:34 starts with a z i think zias yeah we run into julie at zia's we talk about like
40:40 the stuff that people are buying probably being broken do you know what she's doing now yeah she's at mike's
40:44 computer shop yeah yeah she's like back on youtube so yeah there you go yeah so
40:48 um she was very uh she wasn't tacky about
40:53 it when when she well sometimes people will
40:56 go on camera and they'll be like hi yeah you guys might remember me from
41:01 ncix tech tips i'm with mike's computer shop now go see mike's computer shop no
41:04 she was very good about it so that's that's why julia gets the shout out for
41:07 being at mike's computer shop on the run show right now yeah yep yep good uh good
41:13 good form good form you know um
41:17 what did you want to talk about all right ltx so
41:20 yes we know we know ltx expo
41:24 is redundant um but like you guys go find a seven
41:29 character dot com domain i challenge you
41:34 that's right that's what i thought there's there's going to be a lot of responses
41:39 yeah people will just find like littlewhite.com they'll be pretty dumb
41:42 yeah so we got a bunch of information here
41:47 um i don't know if we have any partners yet so that's probably that's probably
41:50 empty yep lol hey Corsair's in
41:55 cool also oh this is last year all our partners i
41:58 told me he really needs to put that on another page but yeah that's really terrible or just not anywhere yeah it
42:03 just probably shouldn't be there or like it should be smaller or something yeah
42:07 it's freaking huge um yeah that probably doesn't make a ton of sense but um yeah
42:11 we got we've got partners we've got a map map and schedules oh that's coming soon
42:16 too this is a really helpful website so it's good that it's subject to change
42:21 because if it wasn't going to change and it was just coming soon forever then
42:25 that would be bad yeah okay hold on a second so here's an event
42:29 map coming soon but you can download it nope nope that just takes you back to
42:34 this page so it was built on squarespace but it was built by monkeys so it goes
42:38 to show you squarespace beautiful website but you actually still do have
42:42 to like it still looks good yeah it looks good and it's fast
42:46 gallery oh so here's a gal so a lot of people
42:50 thought that ltx was just like small or lame or whatever
42:55 and you know it was a little small it was a little lame but it was actually a lot of fun
43:00 we had an absolute blast last year so here's a bunch of the stuff from from
43:04 last year a bunch of the stuff that people could do this year not shilling legitimately one
43:09 of my favorite conventions in years this one is going to be
43:13 a lot more emphasis on the like the one piece of feedback we
43:17 got from people was that they could come in for two hours and
43:21 they could kind of do everything so the idea this year
43:25 is it's a one-day event and we want to make it so that it's basically
43:28 impossible to do everything cool
43:31 so every booth needs to have enough to see or do that you
43:38 can't do everything and one of the other things that this wasn't external
43:41 feedback but one of the other things that we thought that we needed to improve
43:45 was there there was a lot of stuff to do at ltx to the point where it would
43:49 actually take you all day if you were to try every carnival game
43:53 and yeah and and participate in everything but there wasn't much of an incentive so
43:57 i think a lot of people ended up kind of like crowding into a corner and like chatting
44:01 with each other or whatever else sorry oh yeah we could figure that out
44:05 anyway um so a lot of people ended up kind of not
44:09 doing everything and then we ended up giving away a ton of like prizes randomly at the end in a
44:13 raffle so this time cool there's gonna be like
44:17 mondo prizes for like
44:21 going on the bungee run or for throwing cases as far as you can
44:25 or whatever else the case may be and i think are you gonna do like the
44:29 explorer's pass this is that you hand in the explorer's pass for a ticket for the
44:32 raffle and the explorer's pass has to get stamped at all the different booths once you complete the activity oh that's
44:37 interesting yeah that's a good idea too i've been to a lot of conferences i was actually about to say one of the things
44:42 that we should probably do is also enter people just for participating in lots of
44:47 stuff so yeah that would be great that would be a lot of fun i like the combination of like
44:51 if you get past a certain threshold like if you beat like 90 percent of people at
44:54 this thing or whatever and at the beginning of the day maybe it's easier yeah Colton's nodding Colton's into it
44:59 cool yeah so it's good yeah we're gonna have a lot of fun so go to ltxexpo.com to get very
45:04 few details but you can get tickets though can't you i
45:08 think you can get tickets right now because i heard the like big tickets already sold out really yeah i think so
45:14 oh wow someone tweeted me saying that they're like
45:17 they wanted it and now they're sad or something i don't know is it sold out
45:21 dang okay so in a nutshell uh we can't really tell
45:24 you much about it but unlike last year where we were
45:28 pretty tepid on the lan show about sort of how much
45:31 fun it would be it's gonna be fun this is gonna be really fun
45:35 this is the tagline okay we can't tell you much about it but
45:38 it'll be fun trust us yeah we've got a much bigger venue this time um we're
45:43 gonna see rich man oval as someone who's gone to at a minimum one tech slash
45:48 gaming convention every single year for like
45:51 14 years or something yeah yeah um
45:55 it it feels a little bit more like some of the older ones did where there was
45:59 more stuff to do if you go to pax these days they're still really cool but they're mostly
46:03 like a spectator sport kind of situation where you're mostly just like looking at
46:08 things there isn't a lot of activity there's a lot to look at it takes like
46:11 two hours to wait through a line to play a game that kind of stuff what i really
46:15 liked about the last ltx it seems like it's gonna be a thing at this one and
46:18 you even mentioned like there has to be enough stuff for people to do you didn't
46:21 say c you said do it's it's fun because there's so many activities um like i
46:25 don't know if we're bringing it back but last year there was like hardline water
46:29 tube bending and like all this really cool stuff i think we're going to have a
46:32 delayed your CPU station see like that's freaking
46:35 cool so we're hoping to partner with the local retailers so the idea is that you
46:39 could bring your CPU and we'd have the tools on hand and someone to help you
46:43 or if you don't have one then we'll have a board and a test bench handy so you
46:47 can like buy a new one and we'll have hopefully a retail partner
46:51 so you can just buy it on the spot test it make sure it works
46:54 because you'll void your warranty instantly yeah um and then you could delete it and take it home and use it
46:59 that's pretty sick actually yeah so like we've got we've got ideas damn that's
47:02 pretty cool there's some pretty good ideas we could this might get expensive oh lord but we
47:08 could have some and people could buy it to use but we could have like uh free
47:12 geek cpus for people just to like
47:15 do it with probably you know what i mean we've got some really good ideas with
47:19 free geek um so you've seen the like
47:23 boxes and boxes like the pallets of stripped motherboard pcbs right yeah do
47:27 you know about this no okay so one of the ideas that we pitched to
47:32 or at least are going to pitch to free geek at some point is motherboard house of cards
47:41 and then over the course of the day whoever builds the tallest card house
47:46 out of motherboard stripped motherboard pcbs
47:49 wins a motherboard i don't know like we'll figure something out cool but yeah just like
47:53 cool so it would be kind of like you know what like science world when there's just like stuff the booth that's
47:58 just like a bunch of blocks to put together or whatever oh so you just kind
48:01 of walk up there's a little sign explaining what to do and you just go for it and there's just a boxes of
48:05 motherboard pcbs and you just you build it and you just call a free geek person
48:08 over and go like look how tall it is and then they write it and they measure it and then yeah cool right yeah that's
48:13 cool i like it yeah so that's the that's the kind of stuff that
48:16 that we want to do at it cool um what else do we have for topics today
48:20 what i really liked last year too was with a lot of those kind of things you'd
48:24 run into random attendees that would become like
48:29 like temporary single serving friends for the show because they met doing
48:33 whatever activity yep because they ended up being paired up for whatever reason
48:37 or they ended up just being next to each other and talking and whatever i thought
48:40 that was really cool that's a good idea Colton yeah what's up we should have
48:43 some activities where people are forced to participate like as a team with other
48:48 people there so that we like make people mingle
48:52 that's a good idea because that's what you need at tech events you have to force people to talk
48:57 to each other and get to know each other
49:03 oh geez okay more topics yeah i don't know this is
49:08 all kind of boring apparently apple is gonna refresh the
49:11 airpods hooray
49:14 we need that yeah uh okay so i got a i
49:17 got a google home mini and my idea was a lot of times when i'm working i'll like
49:21 think of something that i need to remember later and it's actually like
49:24 kind of annoying to do the couple steps to get into my phone or whatever and my
49:28 phone isn't very great at responding to okay google
49:31 yeah it didn't even though it's on it's just not i don't know why um so i got a
49:36 google home mini and now when i talk to the google home mini 50 of the time my
49:40 phone does it too so this is like the issue that i
49:45 have with them so there's a few things that are just kind of broken
49:48 on Android and just sort of in general i guess
49:51 here's one that really bugs me when i swipe away notification when i
49:56 clear all on my phone do you have do you ever have it happen
50:00 where your phone will just be like buzzing for the next 10 seconds because
50:04 it will like it'll re-notify all of you so if i have like 10 email notifications
50:08 yeah it'll be like 9 00 8 seven as it goes through them
50:13 and it's just oh mine will also refine them so once
50:16 you're fully cleared out it'll be like oh uh you have uh you have a few throw a
50:21 watch into the mix gets really annoying um
50:24 that's not great there was another really stupid like just dumb stuff why is it that google in
50:30 their infinite wisdom added mark has read to their sms app
50:35 which is super freaking handy by the way like when you drag it when you when you
50:39 just pull down the notification you can reply or mark as read why isn't that not
50:42 in gmail why is that not in hangouts
50:46 why is that not in literally anything else yeah because and this is really
50:50 frustrating on iOS on iOS there's no way to mark a text messages unread
50:55 so if if you're like me and you use red and unread as a way to track what you
51:00 have and haven't dealt with yet yeah it's just
51:04 why is this so hard i don't get it another thing with the
51:08 google home mini is i i made it play a
51:11 song just i wanted to see how the speakers were and then i was like it's
51:14 really loud by default and like the speaker isn't very great so i was like i
51:18 kept on telling it like i'm going to stop doing proper commands
51:22 but essentially turn the volume down yeah it it
51:26 inaudibly went down okay turn the volume down okay turn the volume down okay turn
51:30 the volume down i just kept doing it it was like not noticeably going down so
51:34 then i was like turn the volume down a lot and then it went to a completely
51:37 inaudible level of volume and there's no like there's no volume physical slider
51:42 or anything so i can't it's just voice commands i can't do it through my phone
51:46 it's just so i'm just like so it's blaringly ridiculously loud or
51:50 off is like my two but but not off
51:54 because it took me about 15 minutes to recognize like this weird buzzing sound
51:58 that i could barely hear was like technically music coming from the little box maybe just need better music loser
52:05 maybe if your music wasn't like crappy you wouldn't mind if you didn't even know what it was playing at that point
52:09 you heard me because it just randomed through google play music and with someone on some random song i had no
52:14 idea what it was people say do it by percentage
52:18 set the volume to whatever okay no 25 all right but then that even takes trial
52:23 and error because i don't know what percentage it's at they're helping us they're helping us okay
52:26 that's that's decent though that's not bad yeah it should be it should go down
52:30 a reasonable amount if you tell it to turn the volume i think tiz jester nailed it here or luke could just not be
52:35 an idiot nice thank you christian that's solid appreciate that yeah yep yeah
52:41 luke was luke was wrong luke was wrong 2018. don't bring that website back
52:46 the the statement is cool the website is not cool yeah it was bad yeah um all
52:51 right so i guess that's pretty much it
52:55 yeah everything else here yeah so pirates did pirate stuff yep with
53:00 microsoft's uwp protection yep samsung unveiled a big SSD but that is
53:05 physically small just lots of capacity hooray
53:08 utorrent there's a vulnerability that's bad that's surprising
53:12 lordy there's more augmented reality stuff out of google so call me in two
53:16 years yep um tesla is doing a wall charger but now
53:21 for your office which is like okay
53:25 okay um apparently it'll be free but you still have to pay for electricity
53:30 what okay also ASUS is launching premium gtx 1050
53:35 and 1050 ti graphics cards with 144 hour burn in quality control and
53:41 longer warranties aimed at land cafes
53:45 okay from my experience when it comes to like cheap products
53:50 it's usually it usually makes far more sense to just
53:54 like buy a new one when it breaks because by then the new one will
53:57 probably be better than the old one but whatever
54:01 so we'll see you again next week same bad time same bad channel
54:07 bye land cafe is still thing in some places
54:10 very much so yeah yeah definitely still a thing but like i don't see why they
54:14 would buy a more expensive card for it new website loop within idiot.com
