0:00 I feel like Gamers either get treated like the most Discerning customers a
0:05 perfect example being the way that the vast majority of mechanical keyboards a
0:08 product category that is just better all around not just for gamers are targeted
0:13 at Gamers and then other times they get treated like Chumps who will buy
0:18 anything with LEDs on it and words like
0:22 optimized for gaming on the box and I could point at any number of horrible
0:25 Cheapo gaming peripherals to make that point so what is the BenQ RL 2460 HT
0:33 gaming monitor is it optimized for gaming in some meaningful way or are you
0:38 expected to drop your hard-earned money on a product that's made for gaming in
0:42 the same way that a particular energy drink might claim to be made for gaming
0:46 because in my experience unless that energy drink doesn't make you have to
0:50 pee in the middle of a match it ain't any better for gaming than anything
0:58 else Cooler Master nepton Series CPU coolers
1:03 are available in a variety of radiator sizes to perfectly suit your next build
1:08 click now to learn more all right so let's start with the
1:12 specs for this followup to Ben Q's highly successful
1:15 rl2455 hm it boasts a 24in 1920 x 1080
1:20 60 HZ TN panel with a flicker-free so that is to say DC controlled LED
1:25 backlight and 1 millisecond gr gr pixel response times that seems pretty
1:29 believable given how little smearing I noticed both in and out of games during
1:33 my time with the monitor first up is ergonomic adjustments to the completely
1:38 inadequate just tilt on the 2455 the
1:42 2460 adds swivel height adjust and even
1:47 pivot all that stuff helps make the relatively narrow viewing angles
1:52 inherent to TN monitors more tolerable
1:55 since you can adjust it easily to look at the monitor as straight on as as
2:00 possible and for someone who might be carrying the monitor with a PC or a
2:04 console to game in different locations it's a big bonus from both an ergonomic
2:09 and a convenience standpoint because I don't know about you but when I need to
2:12 plug in something to the bottom of a monitor I'm always thankful if it's got
2:17 pivot so I can much more easily reach everything and I guess since we're down
2:21 here um optimization number two is the inputs there's power in and an analog
2:27 audio pass through for you know the unsp special but convenient integrated stereo
2:31 speakers then moving over to display inputs things get more interesting
2:36 however you might feel about PC Gamers or console Gamers the reality is that
2:42 lots of people use both so benq's inclusion of a couple of Auto selecting
2:46 HDMI inputs to go along with DVI and VGA
2:49 is a nice touch I would have liked to see DisplayPort since that's the
2:53 direction the industry is headed but this third HDMI plug here is actually
2:58 more interesting in some ways it's a straight pass through connector that can
3:03 be used in a few ways if you're a game streamer and you want to capture footage
3:08 it allows you to go directly from the source to the monitor to eliminate any
3:12 potential latency from a capture device without creating cable clutter with an
3:17 HDMI splitter if you're say for example a competitive fighting game player and
3:23 or you hate screen sharing then you can have whoever you're playing with plug in
3:26 a separate monitor this one's just running straight through this one to the
3:30 HDMI out and sit across from you or next to you looking at their own screen
3:34 whatever works for you and finally if you just want to broadcast what you're
3:39 doing to a nearby TV or projector let's
3:42 say you're organizing a small tournament at a land with some Spectators well this
3:47 is a super easy way to handle that as well all of this would just be for show
3:53 though if the pass through added any leg or was a bear to configure but it's cool
3:58 it just automatically clones which ever of the two HTMI inputs is active and
4:02 adds no latency that we were able to measure with our Leo Bodner input leg
4:06 tester pretty cool not everything about the monitor is perfect though the
4:10 on-screen display has a ton of useful options including the usual you know
4:14 brightness contrast Etc full RGB for PCs
4:18 or limited RGB for consoles and media devices instant mode which reduces input
4:23 leg and automatic switch option for HDMI inputs motion blur compensation
4:27 adjustment that I'd recommend leaving at default settings a variety of scaling
4:31 modes for old school Gamers and a wide variety of preset image profiles that
4:36 you can check out if you're into making the image look generally like ass to get
4:39 a Competitive Edge something some people are into but in spite of all of those
4:44 options being really good I just found it kind of cumbersome and slow to
4:48 navigate this is aided by the ability to assign custom functions to three of the
4:53 buttons for things that you use often but I just wish navigation was snappier
4:57 overall especially coming from the Rog Swift's Lightning Fast onscreen menus of
5:03 course comparing it to a monitor that costs several times more isn't exactly
5:06 fair so let's evaluate the rl2460ht for
5:10 what it is a TN monitor targeted at Gamers who are willing to trade higher
5:14 refresh rates something that will definitely give you a competitive
5:18 Advantage for Creature Comforts like better ergonomics and IO but who aren't
5:23 interested in the color and viewing angle advantages that an IPS or a VA
5:28 display will give them so not my personal Top Choice but I definitely see
5:33 the value of it particularly for console Gamers who won't benefit from higher
5:38 refresh rates anyway guys thanks for
