0:00 lately the high-end gaming laptop Arena has been getting a little crowded with
0:04 features like desktop class gpus NVMe solid state drives and even freaking
0:09 water cooling docks so it's not surprising that today's entrance Into
0:14 The Fray the ORS X7 Pro V5 tries to set
0:18 itself apart with features like mobile SLI and HDMI 2.0 but does it live up to
0:22 the billing stay tuned to find
0:28 out
0:33 corsera claims unrivaled comfort and Universal compatibility on its new void
0:38 surround headset featuring a genuine Dolby 7.1 headphone USB adapter click
0:42 the link in the video description to learn more the first thing I noticed
0:46 about the X7 was how thin it is with a height of only 2 and 1/2 CM even with
0:50 the lid closed it's pretty damn small at 7bs however it's hard to call the X7
0:56 light but the Slimmer profile does at least offer a little more port ility
1:00 than some of the behemoths we've had roll through our office lately we'll
1:04 start our physical tour with the top which features a plain black finish
1:08 except for the orus logo which lights up when you open the lid the bottom is
1:13 fairly understated as well with not much going on except for rubber feet and some
1:18 ventilation slots things get more interesting when we move around to the
1:21 sides though with the right side featuring both HDMI 2.0 and a mini
1:27 DisplayPort for flexibility if you're attaching additional displays a USB 3.1
1:31 type-c port a more standard USB 3.0 port
1:35 and an SD card reader that connects via PCI Express the HDMI 2.0 support is
1:40 especially nice if you want 4K at 60 HZ and can't use a DisplayPort cable
1:45 moving to the left side we see a Kensington lock slot killer gigabit Lan
1:49 port a second HDMI port that allows you to support two external monitors in
1:53 Invidia surround a VGA port for older displays another USB 3.0 port and Jacks
1:59 for your microphone and headphones the back features one last USB 3.0 port and
2:05 a DC input for the included power brick as well as some additional ventilation
2:09 for all the goodies inside when you open the lid you'll see a 17.3 in 1080P 75hz
2:14 IPS display with g-sync support a webcam
2:17 which we're filming this on right now a pair of unremarkable sounding speakers
2:21 directly below the screen and a back lit orus logo power button the keyboard is
2:26 back lit with adjustable brightness white lights that can be turned off
2:30 completely if you so desire and features 30 key rollover the keys themselves are
2:35 pretty standard for chicklet keys and you also get a set of programmable macro
2:40 keys on the far left hand side the touchpad is quite glossy compared to the
2:43 rest of the chassis and features a nice orus logo there's also tactile bumps on
2:47 the bottom bit which make identifying the clicking area quite a bit easier
2:51 which I liked what I didn't care for though was how the touchpad felt a taded
2:56 too grippy to my finger which got caught on it a couple times on trying to scroll
3:00 it just feels kind of weird under the hood you get an unlocked Skylake core i7
3:05 6820 HK processor 32 gigs of ddr4 memory
3:09 that's upgradeable to 64 two NVIDIA GTX
3:12 970m gpus in SLI giving you both the
3:16 benefits and issues that come with that 500 GB of NVMe solid state storage on
3:21 two drives in raid zero and additional 1
3:24 TB mechanical hard drive and Bluetooth with wireless AC adapters the battery is
3:29 Lithium Polymer that's inside a softer package that you can't access from the
3:33 exterior so it's not the easiest thing to replace interestingly there's also a
3:38 dedicated Hardware encoder for a media
3:41 that is supposed to take the load off of your CPU and GPU while streaming so you
3:46 won't lose as much performance getting into testing we started out by running
3:51 through cinebench Crisis 3 and Tomb Raider putting up the X7 against our
3:55 Sager NP 9870 u2g which you can check out in more
4:01 detail up here or O2 I don't know we
4:04 were interested to see how a couple of 970 m in SLI would do against a
4:08 fully-fledged desktop 980 and the answer is pretty well the X7 beat out the
4:13 Seager in both Crisis 3 and Tomb Raider by small margins and scored well above
4:18 the 75 HZ frame rate of our screen even
4:21 with the settings cranked way up which is definitely ideal cinebench was a
4:25 different story as this is a more CPU bound Benchmark and it saw the Seer win
4:29 by about 24% with its desktop class Skylake i7
4:34 but the X7 managed a still very respectable 704 points we were also able
4:39 to get a stable overclock of 4.0 GHz on our CPU and a plus 100 MHz offset on our
4:46 two gpus without playing with any voltages although the system ran a bit
4:50 warm on our Skybox load test at stock with both the CPU and GPU getting up to
4:56 84° overclocking only heated things up by about 1 or 2° regardless of whether
5:01 or not we overclocked though the fans were very loud during gaming you might
5:07 want to use a pair of headphones specifically noise cancelling headphones
5:11 if you want to game on this thing so what's our conclusion considering it
5:14 beat out our desktop class gtx980 based Sager and is going to cost less when it
5:19 comes out in mid-march the value proposition looks pretty darn good
5:24 especially when you consider the additional bells and whistles like USB
5:28 3.1 typ C HDMI 2.0 support gsync the
5:32 hardware encoder and I believe the Seer doesn't have an NVMe drive at between $2
5:37 2400 and $2,700 depending on the configuration the X7 Pro V5 could be a
5:42 pretty compelling option thanks for watching guys if this video is sucked
5:46 you know what to do but if it was awesome get subscribed hit the like button consider supporting us through
