0:00 sennheiser's momentum Wireless in theory
0:03 just a Bluetooth radio and a battery strapped to a product that's already
0:06 enjoyed significant critical and Commercial Success or is there much more
0:12 to it than that well I took it with me on my recent trip to Asia to find
0:24 out Intel's new 750 series ssds utilize
0:27 the NVMe standard providing speeds never seen before on a consumer storage Drive
0:33 click here to learn more so truthfully while my intention
0:38 was to review the Sennheiser momentum wireless headphones on the plane ride to
0:43 Taiwan at the beginning of my trip makes sense right active noise cancelling
0:46 headphones on a plane the first time I ever actually had cause to use them was
0:52 in a taxi van in koala lumper an
0:55 exciting ride where I saw cows on the back of a truck drove on the shoulder of
1:00 the road in a cab for the first time ever and my 8-month-old daughter had a
1:04 massive poop explosion in her car seat that caused her to cry uncontrollably
1:08 with nothing we could really do about it other than tune it out until we finally
1:13 arrived at our destination for those who don't have kids the experience is about
1:18 like
1:22 this but there's good news with the momentum Wireless paired to my phone
1:27 it's more like this
1:34 so the noise isolation works but actually not necessarily and quite the
1:39 way you'd expect just like its wired cousin the momentum Wireless features a
1:43 closed back design so a lot of the ambient noise is actually passively BL
1:48 blocked by the plastic ear cups and dense memory foam that's around the
1:52 outside of your ears that's what reduces the baby's crying sound but unlike other
1:57 more aggressive solutions that I've enced ened in the past sennheiser's
2:01 active noise cancellation system which uses I I don't know like three
2:06 microphones whatever correct me if I'm wrong I left that part out of my script
2:09 to measure surrounding noise and generate its own white noise to cancel
2:13 it out only really works on low frequency noises like the rumble of a
2:18 train or the sound of other cars on the road now two of the major complaints
2:22 about active noise cancellation or that it can cause a perceived pressure
2:26 sensation on the ears and that it can alter the acoustic performance of the
2:30 headphone by introducing its own flavor of background noise and while I
2:35 definitely detect the pressure when momentum Wireless is powered on I don't
2:40 find it as unpleasant as say for example Brandon's Bose qc1 15s and I cannot
2:45 detect any actual White Noise sound coming out of them unless I
2:49 intentionally break the ear cup seal with my ear by looking really far to the
2:54 side for example the environment around me just sounds quieter which in my mind
2:58 makes this headphone a commuter's delight since it blocks that constant
3:03 droning sound that you hear while leaving important things like uh PA
3:08 bulletins for example uninterrupted that is unless you've got your music turned
3:12 up so loud that it drowns those out too there's nothing I can do about that
3:16 which I guess Segways pretty well into the rest of my comments on the product
3:20 now that I've spent literally half of the video introducing it and talking about the ANC feature it's the momentum
3:25 2.0 with a battery and a Bluetooth module bolted to it and that's
3:30 basically the momentum 1.0 with more
3:33 robust ear cup wiring thicker leather covered ear cushions that actually help
3:37 with the rock hard leather headband that for some reason made it into the 2.0
3:41 revision and now a folding design the
3:44 look is still a fantastic joining of classic Sennheiser and modern design
3:49 languages that should appeal to Millennials and the more mature audien
3:53 is alike and the product build quality is still outstanding with a combination
3:57 of plastic surprisingly lightweight metal and leather
4:01 construction okay I left out a couple small details obviously it weighs a bit
4:05 more since it has a battery and some extra ports and buttons but all of this
4:09 was pretty well implemented and the cushier ear cups compensate nicely for
4:15 the extra weight again in spite of the armored top band the charging port
4:20 although regrettably micro USB can be used at the same time as the optional
4:24 3/2 mm headphone Port if you wanted to run it wired or if you're out of battery
4:29 or whatever else the power button is both easy to reach and out of the way of
4:33 accidental presses and finally onar music controls are handled fairly well
4:38 with play/pause track skipping and
4:41 volume control working flawlessly on my Motorola Android phone with my only
4:46 complaint being that Sennheiser needs to revise the switch in the push button
4:51 previous track is three presses so a mushy actuation Point actually makes it
4:56 kind of hard to do accurately which leads us finally to the meet and
4:59 potatoes of a headphone review how do they sound lonus man you just go on and
5:04 on about other stuff it's like you're trying to pad your viewing session
5:08 length numbers by teasing us with nonsense for 6 minutes before you get to
5:11 the good part look you're even doing it right now okay well I'm sorry about that
5:15 frankly I didn't put it off until the end for this one uh because of just
5:20 wanting to tease you guys I did it because I don't really feel like I have
5:24 that much to say they sound great in my usual Suite of top 40 trash and some
5:29 high bit rate classical stuff so that I can pretend I'm working on reviewing
5:33 headphones as opposed to just listening to music I like on high-end cans nothing
5:37 I've tried in the last year has jumped out at me in this price range and said
5:41 hey look at me I'm a clear competitor for both the style and sound quality of
5:45 the siser momentums Lord knows the urbanites didn't so I feel like while
5:49 Sennheiser probably could have improved the wireless version acoustically they
5:53 maintained the status quo and tacked an extra 50 bucks on to the price for
5:58 Bluetooth and and well Wireless so that ties into the
6:03 conclusion then pretty nicely did you hate the momentums from the moment you
6:06 laid eyes Andor ears on them or are you more of an IM guy when you travel like
6:11 me well then these aren't likely to change your mind did you feel like the
6:15 momentums were perfect except that they didn't fold had thinner ear pads and
6:19 lacked a battery and a Bluetooth module would you pay a little extra for all that stuff well then you're the big
6:23 winner because these are for you enjoy so you know I fix it from their
6:29 tear Downs of a variety of electronic devices what you may not know is they
6:34 also have quite a few professional grade tools to assist you with your tear Downs
6:39 Andor repairs the highlight of their lineup is definitely the prot te toolkit
6:43 it's got 70 tools to assist you with any mod malfunction or Misfortune I've used
6:48 it numerous times whether it was on the iMac my wife's phone I'm drawing a
6:54 complete blank here because that's the kind of thing that happens when you're on the spot but the point is it's got oh
7:00 right I was able to disassemble my DS cuz it has tri-wing screwdriver bits
7:04 also torque security bits all kinds of Handy Dandy little stuff like that and
7:09 includes things that help you take apart the devices without damaging them so you
7:14 know little pry tools and uh you know lifters tweezers all that kind of stuff
7:19 it's ESD safe it's got an antistatic
7:22 wrist wrap included so you can keep your devices safe from accidental shocking
7:27 and it's reasonably priced and the best thing about iix it oh yeah and I guess
7:31 they've also got all their little other more specialized stuff like adhesive
7:34 strips to put your iMac back together and all that stuff so the best thing
7:37 about it it's reasonably priced it's back by lifetime warranty and if you
