0:07 all right so it's personal rig update time again although unfortunately I
0:11 don't have nearly as much of an update for you guys as I would have liked so
0:15 I'm starting to test fit things together honestly I haven't worked on the project
0:19 in quite a while um the the tops of my
0:22 Copperhead spreaders are still at the plating shop where I discovered that
0:27 they actually can't be plated because they aren't brass which is what I
0:31 thought they were made of they are made of colored aluminum uh which is going to
0:35 be a bit of an issue so uh yeah that's
0:39 no good as you can see I've made some rough marks on the back in terms of
0:42 where I want to cut out a CPU cutout as well as some cable management holes
0:48 um yeah I put this back in you can see
0:52 it's no longer black it is now completely stripped I actually had some
0:56 issues with some of the metal that I um
0:59 that I got back from the plating shop cuz they were covered in white residue
1:03 when I got them back and so I cleaned them and unfortunately I didn't dry them
1:08 as well as IID thought and I got some rusting going on so I had to clean them
1:12 again with WD40 which means I'm going to have to um rinse them in a solvent
1:17 before I can actually get them painted
1:21 um yeah so some of that going on there
1:24 um right test fitting components so this
1:28 this whole phase is going to be basically getting the whole system built
1:31 and wired so all the custom wires made and sleeved and all whoops and all of
1:36 that without um before I get it painted
1:40 so the whole thing has to be pretty much done and then it's time to send
1:43 everything off for painting once I've made all the cuts that I need to make as
1:47 you can see I've switched motherboards I'm actually going to be going with the x79 ud5 unless a better option presents
1:53 itself because in terms of coil wine um
1:56 and aesthetic appeal it's the best balance I can find the ASUS one doesn't
2:00 coil wine but the color scheme doesn't really match what I'm trying to do and
2:05 this one the MSI one that I have is a bit of a coil wine issue when sort of
2:10 doing anything um the irony is that this one doesn't whine when I'm doing
2:15 anything CPU intensive but it windes when I'm transferring anything over the network so yeah every board has its
2:21 quirks I'm I can't stand Quail wine personally and it's really dampened my
2:25 enthusiasm for the whole project to be perfectly honest cuz I hate spending a
2:29 bunch of time building something that I know I'm not going to be happy with and
2:32 I'm going to have to change something later um other progress though moving
2:36 right along speaking of things that don't coil wine and are awesome in every
2:41 way the XFX 80 plus Platinum power supply so I've actually done uh the come
2:47 on Focus you can do it focus on that and then focus on that there you go uh so
2:52 I've done the bulk of the sleeving that'll that'll go into this power
2:56 supply cuz I'm not going to bother sleeving things that you're not going to be able to see I'll just leave the stock
3:00 leaving on those ones so you can see the CPU connector in there is done the 24
3:06 pin connector here is done so that's pretty much what it'll look like with my
3:10 uh patented two wires per sleeve individual sleeving so
3:16 semi-individual sleeving is what we'll call that yeah I think it looks pretty
3:20 sharp so you can see the color is a little bit right at the very
3:24 ends I'm willing to uh live with that compromise so yeah I think that's pretty
3:29 much it um so you guys will find out in
3:33 a moment why I haven't had any time to work on my personal rig and uh I
3:39 apologize for the color in this shot because it's terrible we had a bit of a
3:43 camera malfunction but uh we caught him at his best so we're probably just going
3:47 to going to go with
3:52 that so guys this is the reason why uh I
3:56 haven't really had time to work on my personal rig other than
4:00 the couple small updates that you can see uh that you saw so far let's make
4:05 sure he's sitting here okay so this is my baby boy and uh not sure how many
4:11 appearances he'll make on the channel but uh at any rate I figured I'd give
4:15 you guys sort of the scoop of what's going on and he's doing pretty well on the
4:21 camera here can you give us a
4:25 smile what do you think
4:33 I don't think we're going to get a smile out of him that's okay we had another
4:37 clip that had bad white balance where he randomly randomly managed to smile a
4:41 little bit so let's just get him scooped up here okay so let's see your your
4:47 practice say thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to lonus Tech
4:57 tips oh wow what good timing
5:00 um yeah I know sweetheart so guys this is basically the
5:05 reason why I haven't had any time at all to work on my personal rig and
5:12 uh you uh some for some reason the camera loves him and he loves it because
5:17 he was so grumpy for the hour leading up
5:21 to us filming this and now he's giving us a nice big long smile so uh this is
5:26 my baby boy and I'm not sure if he'll
5:30 make too many appearances in the videos but uh there you go so more personal rig
5:35 updates when I get to it but for now there are other
5:40 priorities aren't their sweetheart
