0:01 all right let's just do it let's just do it the door is locked blow it hacking
0:08 into the system doile nuclear attack oh
0:13 my God what is happening oh access graned access graned is probably my
0:18 favorite that's the best part of the whole video oh oh oh no so amazing I'm a
0:24 Noob no way to go Luke okay everything's fine
0:30 okay so welcome to the WAN Show you guys
0:34 we have zero viewers it's always like that at the beginning of the show but
0:38 every time I discuss it Lally doesn't even show a viewer count at
0:42 all oh oh yeah no my live one I yeah
0:47 it's not oh weird oh okay anyway uh discussing the live viewers is totally
0:51 irrelevant to all the 200,000 or so people who watch The W show in the
0:55 archive every isn't tin access Gren kind
0:58 of is because we did it in The After Party Fair they have no idea what's
1:02 going on but then again I did include as a highlight in our winter announcement
1:07 video just that part of that video so
1:11 yeah and a couple other like really golden moments as well so I yeah I I
1:17 actually normally I don't just watch our videos like for fun because I'm in a lot
1:22 of them and I can't don't really have anything to say that would teach myself
1:25 anything at that point and then usually my thing is and I'm sure you're probably
1:28 the same way to at least some agree if you're not in the video you just go talk to the person yeah I usually have well
1:34 I've I've heard enough like complaining about all the negative things and I've
1:38 heard enough like oh okay come look at this this is really cool about all the
1:41 positive stuff that it's like ah I kind of got the Highlight I kind of got the
1:45 Highlight Reel already I don't think I need to watch this um so so yeah but I
1:50 actually watched our ultrawide winter announcement just so I could see the
1:54 Highlight Reel again cuz we got we got some great entries that were really awesome all right so what do we got for
1:59 the show to day ah yes big news
2:02 NVIDIA dropping prices for for Black
2:07 Friday yeah W yeah yeah okay yeah oh did
2:12 you lose your thing that's weird did I lose my what now the thing the thing
2:16 you're your doc do you know what you're calling out next yeah I I got it it's right there okay uh no no I just I
2:21 realized that the um the announcement is not live said it live because we weren't
2:25 live yet no I know I thought I had oh okay okay yeah it didn't work from here
2:29 for some reason oh oh I didn't click save that's why all right so also in the
2:33 news this week lii internet also known
2:36 as lonus Fidelity internet basically you
2:40 just you you build up two luses in your house they take a fair amount of
2:44 resources but they're pretty solid and then they communicate with each other
2:47 very quickly they talk really fast for as long as they don't cheat because it's
2:51 lonus Fidelity not not lonus Breaking All the Rules yeah so so you just got to
2:57 keep them in line so basically it doesn't work at all what else we got
3:00 except this one does yes this the real one does anyways AMD is dropping
3:06 prices for Black Friday and a toddler's eyeball was
3:11 sliced by a drone propeller okay oh I mean you know it was
3:15 a matter of time before like someone got hurt yeah but like has some baby been
3:21 hit by a thrown football and knocked out and bad well there was no there was that
3:25 baby that got hit by the uh by the beer
3:28 can yeah at the basement G like projectiles yeah so now like everyone in
3:33 the upper in the upper deck has to have plastic cups or something something
3:37 something yeah I mean it was really interesting hearing them talk about this
3:40 on the radio because the the only radio I listen to is sports radio so if you
3:44 ever hear me talk about what they talk about on the radio it's going to be beer
3:47 cans being thrown off the upper deck at a baseball game um it was really
3:51 interesting hearing them talk about this because people had such varying opinions
3:56 number one is Hooligans should shoot them all people are throwing things off
4:00 the upper deck yeah uh opinion number two was what is your toddler doing at a
4:06 baseball game cuz the kid was like one year old wow so like why why why are
4:12 they at a B I went to leave him at home leave at home I went like giant crazy
4:17 Outdoors electronic music thing where the music was like very very very loud
4:22 and people had like very young like a
4:25 year or below kids there without headphones and I'm like I don't know
4:30 much about this field as we noticed last week when I called it a kennel but like
4:35 that can't be a good thing there's no way that's a good thing my ears hurt my
4:40 head hurts that's a toddler yeah I listen to loud music all the time I
4:45 don't know anyways all right so uh wait are we supposed to roll the intro
4:49 probably oh shoot did we talk yes we did talk about them all yep go yay nice boat
4:56 I know right nice packs nice
5:03 I'm never sure how much they can hear us during this me
5:14 neither oo Phantom glass has a promo wow
5:19 I fix it has a promo Wow Fresh books
5:23 doesn't have a promo but it's still cool anyway
5:27 fresh all right so uh this is this is
5:30 the best uh this is this is the best uh comment in the twitch chat why are the
5:35 parents subjecting their child to baseball
5:39 oh rip my my brother-in-law is
5:42 like man he's hardcore into baseball and
5:47 golf and I'm just
5:51 like I find those to be two of the most boring Sports ever they're relatively
5:56 fun to play I like playing baseball I
5:59 hate hate watching baseball I make the argument that baseball is actually super
6:03 boring to play because you literally spend one nth of your time actually
6:08 doing anything unless you're the pitcher or the catcher it's fun to play if you
6:12 have like people to talk to so my favorite thing about baseball stuff
6:16 that's all playing games you no no that
6:20 that's like saying fishing is fun fishing is fun because you get out on a
6:24 boat with a bunch of Bros and you drink beer that's why fish that's why anyone
6:28 fishes like I get such a kick out of people who are like yeah like
6:32 competitive fishing and blah blah blah and I'm like yeah like competitive fishing is like is like this tiny
6:38 minuscule percentage of the people who actually have any idea what the crap
6:42 they're doing and are convert and are actually using skill to catch the fish
6:47 better most of fishing like oh sorry hun
6:50 you know I got to go I got to go really early that's when the the fish are
6:54 biting also you know that's I need a couple minutes to like go and dig my
6:58 like huge of beer out of where I stashed it and get that in the boat without you
7:02 noticing cuz you're not awake yet like come on baseball is pure
7:08 socializing my favorite thing about baseball video we're going to lose a
7:11 whole whack ton of American fans here know um my one of my favorite things
7:15 about American baseball videos are when
7:19 it shows like the guy's just screwing
7:23 around all the time like there's so many
7:26 of them there on on imager a while ago there was a huge list of I think over
7:30 like a hundred Gifts of like this
7:33 season like Antics just crazy crap people have done they they come up with
7:38 these like insanely ludicrous handshakes
7:41 they they like throw food to each other like team to team uh there's one where
7:45 like two guys opposing team are just like chilling against opposing fences
7:50 playing rock paper scissors like across the stadium oh my God what are you doing
7:56 with your time like at least with football people are usually like
7:59 strategizing or engaged in the game these guys are just like and I hear I
8:04 hear a lot of I hear a lot of like yeah like you know it's a mind game it's
8:09 strategy and I'm like okay to an extent
8:13 but like bowling or like golf there is
8:17 there's there's a certain amount of if you have a whole team full of people who
8:21 are straight up individually skilled better than the other team there's
8:25 actually not a whole lot of strategy that you can do to beat that team and I
8:29 know you know operating as a cohesive unit this and that Etc that's all very
8:34 important but generally speaking unit a
8:37 thing in bowling or are you back to baseball uh I'm back to baseball I'm back to baseball yeah no bowling I was
8:42 like what bowling you have to encourage each other I guess yeah keep keep team
8:47 spirit you know matters make that statistically matters but but there's
8:50 not a whole lot of variability in terms of like should you go for the double
8:54 play or should you just get the guy at first like come on so people are people
8:59 are giving me people oh people are people are hating on NASCAR in the in
9:03 the comments I would argue that NASCAR is actually way more legitimate than
9:08 baseball I'm sorry it's like a physics game basically
9:13 it looks really repetitive and it it's quite repetitive to watch I don't watch
9:18 it I will never watch it super boring Burl posted this thing the other day um
9:23 that was like V8 superar racing
9:26 somewhere in Europe super interesting
9:29 the cars were like super close to each other going around really really tight
9:33 Corners it was it was nuts I usually get really bored watching racing but that
9:37 was cool all right people are asking for a topic I'm like I guess so all right so
9:42 original post here is from wccf Tech
9:46 boom NVIDIA's entire 900 series GPU
9:49 lineup gets price cuts for the holidays pretty serious ones including the GTX
9:54 980ti which I think we had covered when we said 900 series The 980 which I think
9:59 that does 900 Ser is 9 is 980 in the 900
10:03 series it depends on how you look at it see if you look at the inverse it's in
10:07 the zero series shut up okay okay okay so hold on
10:13 hold on I'm gonna I'm G to go Tang they should just do that they shouldn't make it the like
10:18 1,80 they make it I was just going to I was heading there 80 oh okay guys what
10:24 do what do you think the GTX 1080
10:27 optimized for 4K right yeah it's kind of weird the 1080
10:32 TI optimized for 4K with
10:38 v right I am really looking forward to
10:41 that my entire portion or no you do GPU
10:44 videos in their entirety now whatever so your entire video I I would ask but this
10:49 is a mandate will be full of jokes if
10:52 it's 1080 it will be full of jokes about that yeah excellent all right so
10:56 basically uh the 980 the 970 960 and 50
10:59 are all getting cut for the holidays um I mean it's not like in in 5
11:06 years we have to do or actually closer
11:09 to four something now but um we we have to do we have to do a review of like
11:13 glasses just to troll people glasses in 2020 oh
11:19 oh or we could do like the entire the
11:22 the entire like year could be videos of like old products we could be like this
11:27 is the hindsight year
11:31 just take an entire year to troll people
11:34 yes an entire year I think even we wouldn't get away with that yeah I don't
11:38 think so the 980 TI is down from 649 to 589 or as low as 559 after Mir the 980
11:44 has dropped about 60 bucks actually even
11:48 more after mail and rebate it's 970 is down from 329 to 289 so some pretty
11:53 significant price Cuts anywhere from sort of the 10% to 15ish plus perc range
11:58 the 950 goes all the way down to 139 or 129 after Mir
12:03 unfortunately other regions other than the United States on new egg.com may not
12:08 see the same or even similar price discounts NVIDIA is doing that thing
12:13 again where they act like a really americ Centric company where kind of
12:17 like how the shield was only available in America uh if I recall correctly grid
12:21 beta was only available no CU I had it in Canada no okay I'm not going to I'm
12:25 not going to nail them on grid beta um but I will definitely nail them on
12:29 Shield only being available in America um so they're they're kind of
12:34 doing that thing again super lame yeah I
12:37 I I I mean okay to be clear I do understand all the logistics involved in
12:42 coordinating a price drop with your resellers because the kind of accounting
12:46 involved in paying for things after you
12:50 receive them but then less some kind of
12:54 discount but if you if you sell through the units within that period Then it's
12:59 not less the discount it's actually pretty complicated and some some
13:03 Distributors are not set up correctly to do it and blah blah blah blah blah like
13:07 it actually is complicated but I think America only super sucky like I think
13:12 you could have at least done sort of a smattering of territories where they are
13:17 somewhat set up for it like I'm sure you know case king. de can handle how to do
13:21 a point of sale rebate so yeah yeah
13:24 pretty pretty frustrating in other news what's this AMD is cutting prices on
13:31 their R9 series which includes the r
13:35 seven no wait it doesn't right I get it
13:39 so the fury X the fury the Nano the 390x the 390 and the 380 uh interesting fact
13:44 I did not realize it was called the R9 Nano I thought it was called the R9 Fury
13:49 Nano I don't understand why they didn't call it the fury Nano what it is not
13:54 called the R9 Fury Nano I was trying to
13:58 buy some and I couldn't find them y
14:02 trusted reviews calls it the fury Nano anante calls it the R9 Nano anante got
14:06 it right wccf Tech got it wrong but that shouldn't surprise us
14:10 um yeah go figure right what yeah so I
14:15 have always called it the R9 Nano but
14:18 out of laziness Yes
14:21 Yes actually wow okay um so so yeah
14:25 actually this is this is interesting I I need uh seven of and AMD was going to
14:30 send them to us but after confirming they were going to send them to us they
14:34 were like hey we can't um so I was like hey okay I guess
14:40 I'll buy them then because I super need them for this project why is this a
14:44 twitch stream and uh oh I don't know and uh Intel Kingston ASUS and I I I'm sure
14:52 there are other there are other people have already sent me the hardware to do
14:55 this project so I pretty much have to do it now case Labs is like doing a custom
15:01 painted case for me for this project the
15:04 project must go forward so um so so
15:07 hopefully they'll they'll reimburse us going to be expensive something like
15:10 that no no I think the plan is for them to reimburse us or something but it was
15:14 just it was like a complicated hey we thought we had them turns out we didn't
15:17 you know that might be better cuz this time they can't ship it to us and then
15:21 actually have not shipped it to us and then ship it to us later yeah we had a
15:24 lot of people asking why our 380x uh review video was late
15:29 and the answer is that we straight up got briefed on it like we got our
15:34 reviewer briefing and we got our press deck and our reviewer guide and all that
15:38 stuff and we were like we were like ready and then the card just didn't show
15:43 up yep so yep it's up now on vessel so
15:46 that's cool yay all right anyway so the R9 Fury X is down from oops I just
15:51 changed the thing is down to 569 after Mir the Nano is down to 5.49 making it
15:57 much more reasonably priced the fur
16:01 the99 ex and the 390x and 390 are down
16:05 to 429 and 329 respectively 390 is a
16:09 good deal with that price too actually I mean these are all kind of good deals on both sides all of these pricings are in
16:13 USD and they're off of newegg.com other regions may not the same or similar
16:17 discounts 279 uh 390 is 279 oh sorry sorry sorry they're down
16:22 from 429 and 329 to 379 and 279 so a 390
16:27 for 279 yeah that's almost almost as good as we get all the time on scrapyard
16:31 Wars except not even close buying used 290s it's so solid it's like the way to
16:37 go were they mined on yes probably probably they always say
16:43 no but like come on I always get such a kick out of that because okay guys Pro
16:49 tip for buying used Hardware if the posting says wasn't mined on wasn't
16:54 mined on it was definitely mined on or never overclocked it was definitely over
16:59 it was definitely mined on and overclocked it's like it's like lady
17:03 driven you know yeah yeah it's like if you have you know what that term means
17:06 yes it probably wasn't done that way if
17:09 you know what overclocking is come on there's no way you never tinkered
17:15 with the dial a little bit yeah or maybe you didn't maybe you didn't maybe you're
17:19 the one honest person on the internet good for you good job man yeah
17:24 all right so we've got our next topic Here original article here is from the
17:27 IB times T Blitz um about I don't know oh which which
17:33 price drop do you think is more impactful who had the best I want to
17:37 hear from you guys if you're shopping for a video card everyone else butt out
17:42 if you're shopping for a video card who has enticed you more yeah with their
17:48 holiday specials yeah Green Team or red
17:51 team tweet at Linus Tech go go go and in
17:55 the meantime we're going to do this topic before we uh before we revisit
17:58 that so it's interesting how the R9 Fury X and the GTX 980ti both managed to
18:05 still be the exact same dollar yeah it's
18:09 it's it's almost before and after aeleen rebate it's almost like NVIDIA and AMD
18:14 have huge spy networks at each other's
18:18 companies it's almost like the tech industry is a completely
18:23 inbred sort of there like there like there's like only a few thousand people
18:28 and they just kind of move from company to company it's almost like that
18:32 happened um so lii internet the first
18:35 real world usage boast speeds a 100 times faster than
18:41 Wi-Fi so to explain how it works you should click on the third Source fourth
18:47 the explanation graph and then we can show how it's in the dock sure yeah I'll
18:51 get that up for you guys so it's it's like get exponential graph instead of
18:57 explanation graph oh damn what
19:03 jokes someone will get that in the twitch chat someone will get that all
19:07 right anyways um there it is so it's it's light it's visible light yeah so
19:12 like you can straight up use LEDs it's white light yep uh so the visible light
19:18 spectrum is 10,000 times larger than the radio waves we use for Wi-Fi today which
19:22 is very good point um because people got it oh good because the the reason that
19:28 the reason that the rate at which we can send data over over Wi-Fi is limited is
19:33 because there's only so much Spectrum available and a lot of it is already
19:37 allocated for other stuff that isn't your phone yes or but that is your phone
19:42 but is like your phone cellular signal air traffic stuff or your phone cellular
19:46 signals military stuff government stuff the radio you know we call them radio
19:51 waves cuz the radios it's kind of there um so with light you could actually what
19:57 okay what everyone's talking about the mic fix the mic fix the darn mic I don't
20:03 know a bunch of other people said it just crooked who cares whatever no no
20:07 don't no we're going I'm going to make it worse do it yeah yeah yeah now we're
20:13 living on the edge yeah bring it on Twitch
20:16 chat that's probably a bad idea so
20:20 infrared kind of sucks infrared is not super fast we've known this for a long
20:23 time I mean remember when remember when computers had like infrared data ports
20:27 on the side of them and then we all completely gave up on that because it
20:30 was trash remember game boys that never worked yeah never worked awesome but
20:38 infrared is fine for things like hey I need to change the channel where you're
20:41 sending extremely small amounts of data so that's where it really still Finds
20:45 Its use modern LEDs however could transmit enough data for a stable
20:49 broadband connection but still look like normal white light so look at that up to
20:53 1 billion bits per second now this does come with some
20:59 caveats however so it's literally white light you're not going to go through
21:03 walls yeah so you better be maintaining
21:06 like a line of sight to your uh to your Wi-Fi hot spot probably run a cable yeah
21:12 and oh but it could be kind of cool if you need to go like across the ceiling
21:17 to another AP yep yep or it could be
21:21 well y assuming that there's no I like I
21:24 don't know how they're handling light pollution yes that's going to be really
21:28 weird one thing that I brought up before we went on the show was I would be interested in trying it in like a studio
21:33 setup and turning off and turning on very white lights and seeing if it
21:37 polluted it or whatever and something that's really unclear to me at this point too is if we're going to transmit
21:42 data via light trolling just um if we're going to transmit data by light then are
21:47 the are the receivers and transmitters for this really going to be less
21:52 expensive than a typical you know multi
21:56 mode fiber in which case if we're going to send data by light and it has to be
22:01 line of sight should we just run a piece of fiber it's not that hard and even my
22:05 ceiling example like just run it along the ceiling um who cares and like it it
22:11 doesn't really address I mean okay so picture this you're like you're playing
22:14 a game right play a
22:17 game and someone's like oh hey how you
22:21 doing and you're like hey not bad oh crap oh no my hot spot's right there now
22:25 to be cleared now I don't think anyone I lost my MLG match we should do more
22:29 skits that was great ACC pretty much great a um now to be clear I don't think
22:34 anyone expects this to replace Wi-Fi but as a supplementary connectivity option
22:39 to Wi-Fi so when it be cool as like a crazy speed boost yeah like when you're
22:43 close to the access point having it be
22:46 you know what like what what's the fastest speed they've managed to achieve right now like 224 gigabytes per second
22:52 in lab conditions like that's pretty cool like if you could have a a lii
22:57 receiver gigabit gigabit gigabit not you have a Wi-Fi receiver on like the base of
23:02 your monitor or something and just like prop your phone up and transfer things
23:05 through it wirelessly yep that'd be pretty cool y so there's there's a lot of there's a lot of cool stuff but um so
23:11 just to put that in perspective 224 gigabit speed would technically allow
23:15 for 18 movies of 1.5 gigabytes each to be downloaded in a single second someone
23:19 just called out the dash cam skit oh the dash cam skit was gold I loved the dash
23:25 cam skit that legitimately was very good
23:30 um remember remember remember uh what
23:33 was it we were running around the forest doing stupid crap the Patriot the manly manly way
23:39 whatever uh back when everyone and their dog was like we should have a hard drive
23:45 with Wi-Fi literally everyone in their dog
23:50 like we made videos for the Voyager air the Seagate free agent glex free agent
23:55 glex I think that was the one Wi-Fi anyway and the Patriot um Gauntlet or no
24:01 Gauntlet I don't know I remember one of them being called something that sounded medieval whatever whatever it was Arrow
24:06 Arrow it's called The Arrow I think anyway within like six months or
24:10 something like that it's like this is ridiculous and now everyone has
24:13 completely forgotten about the product category as far as I can tell well no I
24:19 have used them on trips yes they're great for going on trips if you're on a
24:24 plane and you ignore the request to turn
24:27 off wireless transmitting devices which anyone probably fine which is probably
24:33 fine then you can definitely bring a wireless drive with you and you can
24:37 definitely watch movies um it's always
24:41 funny to me when when uh when sites use
24:44 examples that are just straight up like
24:48 they must be piracy like why would a movie be 1.5
24:53 gigs it's like is 1.5 gigs the average
24:56 size of like a compressed Blu-ray rip or something because it sure sure as hell
25:00 isn't a DVD it sure as hell isn't a video CD as if any like real releases
25:05 were ever done on those and it's sure not a Blu-Ray so what is
25:08 this what's a one what's a one and a half Gigabyte video it's a home movie
25:13 it's a home movie right yeah um so
25:16 before Mass adoption current devices need to be retrofitted to support Wi-Fi
25:20 every LED in the future could be used as an alternative to Wi-Fi I mean as long
25:23 as it was like not connected at all like it is now yeah I like take a I don't
25:29 know I get copper is going to be a thing for a long time I I'll be interested to
25:33 see where this goes cuz I'm sure we're thinking like we're we both have our
25:37 minds like stuck in the now a little bit right now I think where we're thinking
25:42 no like I said it would be super cool oh I see where you're going we're thinking
25:45 home networking but maybe there's applications for this that just go way
25:49 beyond that you know and and I don't know what they are exactly or or or
25:53 maybe maybe this technology could be used for for cheaper cheaper fiber
25:58 optics or something along those being white light uh makes me wonder a little
26:02 bit cuz like if you think about school like Grand Halls essentially a lot of
26:06 times in schools the ceilings are really high I don't really know why they just
26:10 are so if you could have these things all along the ceiling and your phones
26:13 and laptops or whatever able to communicate with them that would be sick
26:17 super fast networking within your school all the time but how does that work when
26:20 it's really bright I don't know I don't know I like I I would imagine the sun
26:24 would just wreak havoc on this yeah I
26:27 don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know man but one other Advantage
26:32 is that it doesn't interfere with other radio signals which it's light if you
26:35 know anything about light you should probably have already known
26:38 that I don't know this was kind of brutal original article here is on
26:42 Technica sorry tetz Twitter oh right the Twitter Blitz okay and then we'll we'll
26:47 get back to that man that that that was a who thought that was a good idea all
26:52 right everyone's talking about it we haven't done that in a moment though
26:57 okay get getting a used maybe overclocked r9290 from work for 40 PB so
27:02 team red is my best bet yeah okay that up that doesn't count but yes do that
27:07 that's awesome uh AMD because their new driver doesn't take 10 seconds to launch
27:11 and configure anything you know I got to give you that why does GeForce
27:16 experience take so long to lach computer if I click on the because taran's like I
27:20 want you to use Shadow play to rep record your gameplay footage for the steam controller review and he wants me
27:25 to use it for everything which is great I get it it compresses audio horribly
27:28 terrible in that way but the video is good so okay cool if I even click the
27:32 shadow play button my computer will lock up for like a couple minutes and then
27:37 eventually let go doesn't matter I can't even get close to touching Shadow play
27:41 if I try to open GeForce experience at all the whole thing will like lag out
27:45 and crash Explorer will die Explorer will come back and then GeForce
27:48 experience will load up it's pretty brutal I don't have that problem on any
27:52 other computer but you know what the funny thing is about NVIDIA is they've
27:55 got all these amazing cool like really complicated features that work within
28:00 the driver and work within your games and actually work really well and then
28:06 they try and build a control panel to let you turn the switches on and off and
28:09 it's like no
28:13 derp with that said I've got my I've got my complaints about amds drivers as well
28:18 uh you tried the new one sorry have you tried the new one I have not tried
28:22 neither I've heard good things I've heard good things I've also heard terrible things the Linux Community is
28:26 up in arms right now I'm sure they are because basically they just skinned the
28:30 old one as far as anyone can tell and all the promised performance
28:34 improvements are most of L Community use that thing anyways yeah but I'm sure
28:39 that they'd love to have an official driver that doesn't suck probably just
28:43 saying yep um all right AMD because oh yeah no we just said that here's your
28:48 answer look at that order to 390 bam 300
28:52 bucks yeah oh right they were too whatever yep great so y very nice teams
28:58 very low red team look at how many okay Zach Rose the first one first one for
29:03 the Green Team here project documenting
29:06 my Subs okay that's not really on topic also not on topic also not on topic no
29:12 well that's on topic but you're done fix the mic no not going to happen NVIDIA
29:17 AMD because I need Cuda for development this
29:21 is AMD's doing that thing yeah AMD is
29:24 doing that whole Cuda thing so uh Nick you might want to stay tuned because I'm
29:28 not sure I'm actually not sure what the exact status of it is like I don't know
29:33 if the latest driver boom turned on Cuda or if support is going to be as good or
29:37 if it's going to be as fast for a while but uh the the word on the street I I
29:42 read this article a week or two ago uh but the word on the street is that AMD
29:46 is has got some kind of Licensing deal for Cuda now yeah um so yeah stay stay
29:51 tuned for that uh Red Team Green Team
29:54 but something why not both why why don't we have both something some okay cool
29:59 team red gtx960 well based on based on our Audi
30:06 that's like a lot of AMD it's looking like AMD one Black Friday there so
30:10 that's you know what's kind of crazy is when I was shopping for when I got the
30:14 scrapyard Wars 9 uh 290 y um I looked
30:18 online that was $420 new now you can get 39s which are
30:25 the same card yeah but for under $400
30:28 new that guy got it for 300 bucks mhm 305 us us us us okay so like sold 400
30:34 yeah just say yeah yay Canadian dollar it's so bad
30:41 right now oh my God all right what else we got for topics today terrible thing
30:45 that we almost yeah this this is like I
30:49 don't know what they were thinking just wow Amazon backtracks after covering New
30:54 York City subway car and Nazi symbols um so here's a tweet from
30:59 Katherine lamb 42nd Street shuttle to Time Square covered in Nazi Germany and
31:03 Imperial Japan symbols for an Amazon ad
31:06 is this okay um I'm thinking a lot of
31:10 people kind of went with no now to
31:14 explain Amazon and and this this is interesting because you can see it's
31:18 actually like an American flag but with
31:22 a German eagle and German cross in it and then it's like the the Japanese war
31:27 flag leg with stars and stripes like it
31:31 it's like it's kind of it's a super weird thing and it's for you can see
31:35 this right here High Castle yeah this is not because Amazon's like you know
31:40 Hitler was right that's not what happened here it's
31:43 promoting sound bited on that real bad
31:47 yeah probably uh oh
31:52 oh there's nothing I can do that's unfortunate it's on it's on the internet
31:56 now all right rip okay it's on the now so Amazon was they're trying to promote
32:00 a show yeah Amazon was a really interesting sounding show yeah so it's a
32:04 new TV series it's called The Man in the High Castle and it's a story of a world
32:08 where the axis Nations won World War II so decisively that they took over the US
32:13 didn't attack Russia yeah yeah yeah where where just like everyone before
32:18 them who ever thought attacking Russia was a good
32:22 idea they also decided attacking Russia
32:25 was not a good wait no hold on just like whatever the point is attacking Russia
32:31 has never worked yeah not once yeah ever
32:35 yeah I'm not convinced the Russians could take over Russia I don't think
32:39 they have
32:42 oh so uh rough so so so so yeah so I
32:48 mean it definitely got so so let's talk
32:51 was it inappropriate I personally fall into the yes that was totally
32:55 inappropriate Camp um
32:58 what do you think uh yeah I think it's totally
33:02 inappropriate I can't I'm amazed at the amount of things that that must have
33:07 gone through and was approved the whole time because there's no way you can get
33:10 an ad on the subway without someone checking it out first yep someone from
33:14 New York City definitely was aware of this yeah someone from something some
33:19 form of management of New York City was like yeah cool all right yep so that got
33:24 approved not only through Amazon but partially through the government or like
33:27 what well maybe not government I don't know it might might send me private there like whatever their transport
33:31 Authority would be someone someone signed off on this um multiple times
33:37 like multiple people signed off of it on multiple stages I mean maybe they just
33:41 kind of thought well you know hey we're not saying it would have been a good
33:44 thing if the axis forces won World War
33:48 II that's not what happened the point of the movie is like how bad it would have
33:52 been I haven't well obviously I haven't watched idea I haven't watched it I
33:55 intend to watch the show now so that leads to our next question effective
33:59 marketing I think it totally worked we are talking about a show on Amazon's
34:04 thing right now there's no way we would have done that yep I I would not have
34:08 cared well not that I wouldn't have cared someone could have told me about that premise for a show and I would have
34:12 gone yeah Al alter alternative history I'm kind of into that um but I I Pro I
34:17 wouldn't have heard about it because I wouldn't have been browsing you know
34:21 Amazon for TV shows that are coming that that wouldn't have happened and this
34:25 blew up so now everyone knows knows about it and with with uh the Top Gear
34:30 guys going there and now this massive Thing amon's video streaming service is
34:34 getting more news right now I think a lot of press you know what I've got the
34:38 really good comment in twitch chat really good comment in twitch chat and we should probably do a Twitter Blitz on
34:42 this as well guys tweet at Linus and let us know let us know your thoughts on
34:46 this but this person went well hold on a second they didn't put swastikas up
34:52 so that they they're saying that's the line the line is swas cuz the the the
34:57 German eagle and the German Cross are
35:00 definitely German symbols of that time
35:04 in history but they aren't the symbol of
35:08 the Nazi party and to be fair not all
35:11 German people were bad to be very very
35:15 clear um
35:18 so yeah I don't know I I I still think I
35:22 personally think it was over my line it was over my line I think we can all
35:26 agree it was over everyone line if they had the swastika on it but yeah even
35:31 even even the eagle the war flag and the cross were were were were over my line
35:37 it was a little bit probably too aggressive what they could they could
35:41 have done a very similar but probably okay angle where they just ask the
35:45 question all over the place yeah what
35:49 like what if this bench had a Nazi flag on it like have that in text and high
35:53 point or whatever high high seed or whatever it's called yeah and high
35:57 castle castle um so here let me let me see let me have actually have a have a
36:02 look at um like you know maybe May yeah
36:06 maybe they could have maybe they could have even had one one picture of not
36:11 covering it yeah like if it here so so back to back to the picture for a second
36:15 yeah so if they'd had the seat have like
36:19 a little flag what if Hitler had one
36:22 high castle Amazon November 20th like kind of like this messaging that they
36:25 have up here I think people people would
36:28 have asked the question as opposed to gone what is this ad for yeah what is
36:34 wrong with them yeah I still don't know if that's necessarily even okay but I
36:38 think it's more okay than what was done yeah all right so let's let's go ahead
36:43 let's go straight to Twitter let's get the people who uh got it really quick uh
36:46 someone says I think even without swastikas it was slightly over the line
36:51 uh it's just a way to get people talking about the show easy marketing uh due to
36:54 Amazon's unfairly treated employees this happened
36:59 what uh the eagle was not a symbol of
37:03 the nsdap otherwise it would have been banned in Germany which is not and the
37:06 Iron Cross is still used oh wow so there you go interesting uh the swastika was a
37:10 religious symbol yeah we all know the swastika was not a Nazi symbol before
37:15 that doesn't change what it means now it's kind of like wasn't it slightly different anyways for the religious
37:19 symbol wasn't it like going the other way or something yeah it might have been the other way or whatever not going to
37:24 draw one because I'm sure that would get giffed to hell um
37:28 can you even imagine oh God anyway the
37:31 point H but the point is is that the meaning of things does change over time
37:36 um this is something that's been discussed a lot you know whether it's
37:39 whether it's a a word that's a slur and then turns into not one or a word that's
37:43 not a slur and turns into a slur or symbols that mean one thing and then
37:47 another thing or hand gestures that become obscene over time it's all it's
37:50 all part of the fluidity that is the way that we communicate with each other so
37:55 you can kind of run around and say you know
37:58 the f word is a bundle of sticks and twigs all day that's not going to change
38:01 what it meant and then you could also make the argument South Park did an
38:05 excellent episode on this that it also doesn't mean what it meant 30 years ago
38:09 anymore today but that's a debate that I'm not getting into point is like the
38:13 greatest thing ever what did I do you said GIF instead of GIF yeah so now
38:18 instead of like me going through Banning hordes of people for saying horrible
38:22 horrible things in chat they're all talking about you saying GIF instead of
38:26 GIF oh I use them interchange they're both technically correct all right a
38:30 four as a four-year Prime member I've never used Amazon Prime video okay
38:33 slightly on topic uh fell in love with the show last year uh it's entertaining
38:38 but not great and boring in some parts yeah that's probably how I would
38:42 write a love letter to my wife I fell in love with you last year you're
38:46 entertaining but not great and boring in some parts wow well I'm just saying
38:51 that's not a great that's not a great uh like sales pitch Oh I thought you said
38:54 you're going to write it to your wife no no I'm I'm saying that
38:58 I'm saying that's so rude she's a very nice person I know okay I personally
39:04 feel the world needs to lighten up this happened all we just moved past it I
39:07 think you know I would I would suggest
39:12 that anyone who thinks we should lighten up about anything that happened during
39:17 World War II should probably go hang
39:21 around at one of the museums in aitz or
39:25 uh strawberg or wherever else and like for me one of the most one of
39:30 the most revelatory experiences that I have ever had was standing next to the
39:36 oven and seeing like the burned shoes
39:39 that they had on display there like and
39:42 I was like holy crap this actually
39:45 happened it actually happened I'm standing right where it happened and
39:50 there's people still alive that were around doing that
39:53 yep um all right I don't know Pro it's
39:58 still a novel line is band tips people are getting wrecked left and right
40:01 whether it's from me ghost or the bot there's like there's like one person
40:05 getting banned in chat this whole time excellent step up boys I'll take you out
40:11 all right so uh this is kind of a a
40:14 rapid fire topic here I guess but uh
40:17 Samsung has done the unthinkable they are putting TLC nand so
40:24 that is three bit per cell n
40:27 in an Enterprise SSD so I will explain for a very brief
40:32 moment what a big deal is this is in the beginning Enthusiast and
40:39 Enterprise grade ssds were SLC so they
40:43 stored one bit per cell and the reason
40:46 that it was done that way is that was the only way to achieve reasonable
40:50 enough right endurance so that is how many times the SSD The Flash can be
40:55 written to before it fails over time as
40:58 it is apt to do way to go Luke my bad overtime mlc
41:04 which is what we call colloquially TW bit per cell flash although mlc is
41:09 technically anything that stores more than one bit per cell so TLC 3 bit
41:14 Perell flash is technically 3 bit per cell mlc but colloquially we call two
41:21 bit Perell mlc mlc so mlc flash showed
41:25 up on the scene and all of a sudden ssds got way more affordable for the consumer
41:30 those of you who were kind of paying attention in the early Enthusiast grade
41:33 SSD days will probably remember the x25 E and the x25 M Intel's gamechanging
41:41 ssds but before which everything was
41:45 kind of trash like had serious problems that would cause them to go from being
41:49 faster than a hard drive to actually slower than a hard drive if they got
41:54 like if they like hitched up on something
41:57 so the x2e was only available in 32 and
42:01 64 gig configurations and if I recall
42:04 correctly the 64 gig was like monstrously horrendously priced um
42:10 whereas the x25 M featuring mlc flash so
42:14 the e was SLC and the M featuring mlc flash was available in 80 and I want to
42:19 say maybe the 160 came later but it was 80 and 160 gig
42:23 configurations so mlc got good enough
42:26 but it wasn't good enough for the Enterprise for a long time that's where
42:30 Enterprise mlc came in so Enterprise mlc can do something to the tune of I think
42:34 it's 10 times the right cycles of SLC or
42:38 excuse me of mlc which still isn't as much as SLC but SLC is just so cost
42:43 prohibitive and the capacities are limited because you can store so much
42:47 more data per flash chip using mlc
42:50 technology so emlc happened now Samsung
42:54 was the first to do TLC Flash in a consumer drive with the
42:59 840 I want to say Evo oh crap I hope it was the 840 Evo um
43:08 I'm sure someone's going to correct me it was either the 840 or the 840 Evo can't remember exactly someone's GNA
43:12 someone's going to correct me whatever so they were the first to do a consumer
43:16 TLC SSD since then everyone else has
43:20 been trying to do TLC some have released drives but I don't know if you guys saw
43:24 that latest one from uh micron
43:27 it's abominable like Samsung has figured
43:31 out people are saying it's the Evo thank you no it wasn't the pro the pro was uh
43:36 was mlc okay so the non-pro was the TLC one so other guys have been trying to
43:41 figure out TLC for quite some time now
43:44 uh because it gives you less right performance and less endurance but way
43:50 more capacity and it's cheaper so Samsung figured out with fine-tuning
43:54 their controller and the Flash uh because they're one of the one of the
43:58 only I think are they the only one they
44:02 might be the okay don't quote me on this but Samsung may be the only completely
44:06 vertically integrated SSD maker where they make the dram cache they make the
44:11 controller they make the flash they make the freaking they assemble the freaking
44:14 pcbs they make they do the firmware they do the whole thing so they made it all
44:19 work together so cohesively that they were able to get acceptable performance
44:22 in spite of the fact that they were using this essentially like USB thumb
44:26 drive grade flash not quite it's bined as well
44:30 so it's like the best of the TLC flash so anyway now while everyone else
44:37 is still using emmc or or emlc or worst
44:41 case scenario mlc for for an Enterprise grade Drive Samsung is releasing a TLC
44:49 Drive what this allows them to do and I I'm finally getting to this what them
44:53 allows this to do is deliver an Enterprise SSD
44:57 with a price of less than 60 cents a gig
45:00 and a capacity up to 3.84 Tab in a 2 and
45:05 half inch form factor that my friends is
45:12 bananas yes yes it's
45:15 bananas b so they're they're using their
45:19 3D nand and they're using TLC in order to get unheard of densities we actually
45:24 have a unit on routee uh I haven't actually talked to Samsung in over a
45:29 year um so and it wasn't even me I was
45:33 just like Nick do we still have a contact at Samsung SSD I don't think
45:36 that's true yeah because we haven't talked to them at all since they provided those drives for the Forum that
45:41 was over a year ago yeah I just blew your mind didn't I
45:45 yes you did um so I was like do we even still have a contact there cuz I want to
45:49 check this thing out so that is coming and I'm super stoked because higher
45:53 capacity ssds cannot be a bad thing
45:57 um so looking at competitors Intel's DC s3510 has a maximum capacity of 1.6
46:02 terabytes and micron's m510 DC tops out
46:05 at just under a terabyte pretty cool stuff and something
46:10 to realize is when you choose a storage solution it's never really as simple as
46:15 this drive is the best it's always trade-offs whether the trade-off is cost
46:20 capacity read speed right speed endurance uh vibration resistance um uh
46:27 a a a form factor like density how much of it you can cram in there there's
46:30 there's all these different trade-offs so this Enterprise Drive even though
46:33 it's not going to be as heavy duty for rights as another Enterprise Drive based
46:38 on emlc or if you can find some rare SLC
46:41 drives out there SLC but what it will be
46:44 great for is really fast random reads if you need a lot of storage so I could see
46:49 I could see someone like Facebook eating these up actually I believe the front
46:54 page is all in RAM right now don't quote me on that I think they moved it yeah I
46:59 think they moved thing talking about like oh wow it's all in SSD and then I
47:04 think yeah I think they've moved all to RAM however that doesn't mean that
47:08 having another way faster than mechanical tier that's way higher
47:13 capacity isn't going to help them out big time like big time so so there you
47:19 go that happened this week I'm like super stoked on playing with that you
47:22 know what else happened this week is Seagate shipped US 35
47:27 of their 8 terab Enterprise capacity drives got a lot of people saying yeah
47:31 but the right speed sucks no no these are not the archival 8 terabyte drives
47:36 I'm aware of those that is not what we have we have the SATA 3 6 gbit per
47:42 second SATA Enterprise capacity drives so these
47:47 are full read full right they are not
47:50 quite as optimized for random as something like the SAS version um and
47:54 they're just the basic one they don't have self- encrypting Drive functionality unfortunately but they are
47:59 balling they are awesome and I'm actually I've been waiting for these for
48:04 a lot of projects I've got a lot of stuff planned for these drives we're
48:07 going to do an on-site backup server we're going to do an off-site backup server we are going to investigate
48:12 unraid versus freeass over the next little bit um what else do I have
48:17 planned right and a video that I promised months ago
48:22 when I originally did my freas build and
48:25 I was like here's the storinator it's running fre Ness I promised to do a
48:30 performance followup well the performance on it has been
48:34 trash like too trash like I did
48:37 something wrong there's something wrong with it the problem is that it had all
48:43 of our data on it and I couldn't I
48:46 couldn't reformat it I couldn't I because I think I think it's a
48:49 combination of things it's using native 4K sector drives it's using the
48:54 nonoptimal uh it's using non optimal numbers of drives per vdev and uh let's
49:00 see what was the what was the other suspected issue anyway there's a number of things that I that I might have
49:05 gotten wrong during the configuration setup um so I wanted to take another
49:09 crack at it but I've had nowhere to put that
49:12 data so I'm currently transferring at about 500 megabytes per second off of
49:17 the Fraz and onto another machine and then I'm going to copy it somewhere else
49:21 so I'm going to have it on a hardware raid and I'm going to have it on an
49:24 unraid while I retool the freeas box and
49:28 then copy everything back over there so I'm pretty excited about
49:31 that all right so this is this is uh this is very unfortunate uh over on the
49:37 BBC toddler's eyeball sliced by drone
49:40 propeller so brutal yeah so the the
49:44 Drone was flown by a family friend and
49:47 uh yeah the operator lost control of the
49:51 Drone and he'll need several operations
49:54 before he can have a prosthetic eye f
49:57 which is uh which is really unfortunate I mean it's one of those things where I
50:01 don't think we are going to uh like I
50:05 don't think we're going to start seeing regulations in terms of whether you can
50:08 fly drones inside your house or whatever else but it is it has it has certainly
50:14 it has certainly made me consider whether I would fly a drone even
50:18 anywhere near my kids even Outdoors um
50:22 yeah I don't know cuz when they when they go full runaway mode they can move
50:26 pretty pretty darn fast it can actually get a little a little aggressive yeah
50:30 there's a fair amount of videos based on that so uh the Drone pilot said it was
50:35 up for about 60 seconds as I brought it back down to land it just clipped the
50:38 tree and spun around so super super
50:43 unfortunate someone said that that's why the Drone should have foam bumpers
50:48 doesn't always stop something like this but probably would have helped and and
50:51 could have helped could have helped but hindsight is always 2020 and you always
50:57 I mean for the thousands and tens of thousands and probably hundreds of
51:00 thousands of drone flights most of the time no one got
51:04 their eyeball sliced open yes yeah um yeah H there's a new Raspberry Pi on the
51:10 scene this is actually insane yeah the Raspberry Pi zero which is look how
51:15 small it is it's tiny it's fantastic look how much it
51:19 costs it's it's in the picture it's yeah five bucks yeah yeah really cheap there
51:25 you go one g processor I believe yep um
51:30 HDMI out I think it has USB in oh you've
51:33 got all the stats there my head yeah was 512 Megs of uh
51:38 ddr2 yeah like it's five bucks for like it honestly relatively capable computer
51:44 yep very cool stuff kind of cool smallest form factor ever 65 millimet
51:50 someone saying it's sold out already 6 and half CM by 30 mm so that's 3 cm by 5
51:55 mm which is half cimer sold out within
51:58 24 hours yes friends people were
52:01 snapping these puppies up real real quick fast that's really cool the amount
52:07 of like embedded projects you can do with that would be sick Yeah we actually
52:11 would like to do more stuff like that in the future uh we've got some plans for
52:15 some stuff I don't know if we've got it in time for this year I think we might run out of time to do that one thing we
52:19 discussed but maybe you've got the you've got all the parts you need for
52:23 that other project that we ordered stuff for like ages ago I'm hoping
52:28 didn't get lost in the but at the very least we do have the majority of them I
52:33 looked through the box at least most of it is there I'm missing a lot of the
52:36 boxes but I think those boxes were thrown out and I think the things were
52:40 put in the one box so I'm just hoping I've got all of them I don't know so how
52:44 do you feel about this Yahoo mail begins blocking users with ad block uhoh we
52:50 were unable to dis display Yahoo mail please disable ad blocker to continue
52:56 using Yahoo mail d
53:02 d I think there's a lot of angles you can take on this uh I think it can be
53:08 unintelligent for a website or a service to aggressively go after people that use
53:13 ad block but I think it is entirely up to
53:17 them um I think this is YouTube was tinkering with it for a bit Yeah I think
53:21 this is a very unclassy way to do it because people's emails are extremely
53:26 important and to just not allow them to access them until they do a thing that
53:30 they might not know how to do if their kid installed ad block for them or
53:33 something is very aggressive and not really okay but if you gave them like a
53:38 warning that you're going to do it in the future or something that would at
53:42 least be nicer and they didn't do that and
53:45 that's I do not like how they did it I
53:48 think I think Yahoo's biggest mistake is uh thinking that anyone cares about Emil
53:54 oh my goodness it's so ridiculous if I if I got that message if I used an ad
53:58 blocker and I was like so I can't access
54:01 my Yahoo mail I just be like okay I
54:05 guess I'll use another email service I have to confess something you still have
54:09 Yahoo mail not me my girlfriend really
54:13 yeah you know that's only one step better than AOL I know which is only one
54:18 step better than using your ISP y okay
54:23 it's like it's bad so you don't you don't have to go to like uses Apple Maps
54:27 you don't have to go to tech hell but you do have to go to like Tech Purgatory
54:31 for a bit okay okay I mean you have to accept that sentence that was a light
54:35 sentence but like I'm I'm I'm pushing to fix things I actually don't mind Apple
54:41 Maps Google Maps has I haven't used it in a long time when I did use it it was
54:45 super terrible it's way better okay uh Google Maps has has actually misled me
54:51 more drastically than Apple Maps ever has so even though Apple Maps isn't
54:55 always perfect Google Maps has gotten to the point
54:59 where uh do you remember when I was supposed to come back here for that hot
55:02 dog challenge super fun yes so I was
55:05 sitting I like I was I was I was sitting watching my Google Maps on my phone and
55:11 it was like traffic yellow ahead okay
55:16 I'm sitting there I know for a fact no one has moved on this road in 15 minutes
55:21 so the traffic is yellow okay and which
55:24 is usually not bad the ETA to the office office just went up one minute for every
55:29 minute that I sat there so it was straight up not counting for the fact
55:35 that nobody was moving which I thought was the entire point so that it could
55:41 map you around things why they bought ways wasn't it like I think that was
55:45 literally the whole point I don't know that's pretty rough all right Nick Nick
55:49 claims that Apple Maps tried to send him 40 minutes away for Tim Hortons when he
55:53 was literally 500 met away from one you know what Google Maps has gotten a lot
55:56 worse about that too like you can't just be like Home Depot and it'll be it'll be
56:00 one in like coitum like I they they it's okay
56:04 there's it's pretty bad they're both pretty bad maps for some reason and I
56:08 find browsers in general seem to be getting
56:11 worse yeah what's that like in the last like two months I swear my browser's
56:15 gotten worse what's that browser that just went into beta that everyone has high yeah Vivaldi maybe it's maybe
56:21 Vivaldi is our last hope but like did you like Opera much no it's from same I
56:26 know so I know I don't know why everyone thinks it's going to be the Savior it'll
56:31 be cool if it is but like I
56:34 know I'm not expecting much but then if it's awesome then I'll be even happier
56:39 so that's good this is interesting virtual reality needs tweaks more women
56:44 than men get motion sickness with oculus rift a virtual reality headset very very
56:50 interesting so this is a University of Minnesota study isn't this isn't part of
56:56 the study that more women than men get motion sickness yes so um yeah so blah
57:02 blah how to affects users has found that for every three men that get seasick
57:07 five women will so they tested having participants play a VR and that's
57:11 seasick so they tested having participants play a VR game for 15
57:15 minutes 35% of subjects got sick within 10 minutes of those 70% were women so
57:23 this can mean a number of things number
57:26 one is it backs up what I said last week men and women are not the same so to be
57:31 clear I'm not saying they're not equal I'm just saying that you know a pile of
57:35 hammers is not necessarily better than
57:38 six screwdrivers depending on what you need so does that mean they can be equal
57:42 and just thought the same or let's say a pile of screwdrivers there pile of
57:46 hammers and piles of screwdrivers so like to equal natural effect they would
57:51 need to be at 75% hm wait aren't they doing better
57:56 then no 35% of the subjects got sick
57:59 overall so 65% were fine of those 35 70%
58:04 of them were women yeah so but women got
58:08 more sick but women already get more motion
58:12 sick yes so is it any worse than it actually currently is no I don't believe
58:17 so so what do they have to work on well
58:21 what they have to work on is the overall percentage Yeah Yeah Yeah they just have
58:26 to make it better but that's exactly yeah that's what they're doing yeah I
58:31 know I know I know I know I know it's really funny because it it really didn't
58:36 take very long for um for someone someone someone we need
58:41 viral reality needs tweaks also by the way it's not out yet they're working on
58:48 it and when it comes out that'll be version one which everyone knows is like
58:52 not really the one you're really that excited for yeah and they're going tweak
58:56 down the road even V2 is not going to be like the greatest thing ever like I'm
59:00 probably I'm probably just going to kind
59:03 of live with feeling sick because I suspect I'm going to feel sick I I yeah
59:08 I've been really good in that department I don't do amazing on boats okay like
59:13 actually I'm okay on boats maybe I'll be fine I'm pretty solid on boats but I'm
59:16 not like there are people that are better than me I have felt bad on a boat
59:20 once but I've been on boats many times so I don't know um but like I can do
59:25 roller coaster standing up and like I
59:28 yeah I have no problem with VR at all I think part of it is I'm when did you
59:33 ever stand on a roller coaster no like VR roller coaster
59:37 ah I didn't mean a real life one
59:40 horrible idea um yeah I can do VR roller
59:43 coaster standing up and stuff no problem I think part of that is I never have
59:48 actually felt a huge amount of immersion in VR really like there's some people
59:52 that are like oh like I'm totally in the game and I'm like nope
59:56 I'm not feels like a monitor that's strapped to my face it's a very cool
60:00 effect but I think for me to get really immersed there's going to have to be a lot more other things so like even when
60:06 you're upside down on a roller coaster there's people that have like I've seen
60:09 videos of people that'll like throw up the second they go upside down because they're interal balance goes off and
60:13 stuff my mind is like nope we're
60:16 standing I think part of it is just the sheer amount of video games that I've
60:19 played right honestly I think that's a huge part of it yeah I I would be really
60:25 interested to know how the women break
60:28 down of the 70% that got sick verus
60:31 Gamers versus nonamers that would be really interesting cuz my wife can play
60:35 TF2 uh Left 4 Dead uh top down games no
60:39 problem I I put her in
60:42 Portal and she was done within like a
60:45 minute interesting yeah as soon as she goes through a portal she's like oh I'm
60:48 sick nope done done can't do it so this is even somewhat but but while while she
60:54 can handle normal games where you don't change where gravity
60:59 doesn't move around on you all the time um she's she's not like a hardcore gamer
61:03 by any means like she hasn't been gaming since she was a little kid I would be
61:06 really interested to know how much your
61:09 your childhood affects something like this and oh and yeah boats a lot tons of
61:16 sports lots of video games that was my childhood not boats a lot but boats at
61:20 least every summer for like two weeks straight and like it's it's it's
61:23 obviously like it's obvious that there's going to be some there's going to be
61:27 some uh nature versus nurture here but here's here's an interesting fact um I
61:32 used to get sick in the I used to get car sick uh pretty quickly like within
61:36 about five minutes of reading in the car I would get sick I do with drivers that
61:41 I don't find very good oh okay well I would get sick no matter what this is
61:45 when I was a kid um I love reading I
61:49 love reading and I loved playing on my Game Gear when I was a kid okay all them
61:54 batteries so basically that's why you like Loop so much I would just play
61:58 through it and it would get to the point where I would feel so sick that I
62:02 couldn't even look up from the book because that would be like too much and
62:09 I'd like and eventually I'd give in and I'd have to put it down and I'd have to
62:13 just kind of chill for like an hour and then I could go and then I'd go right
62:17 back to it so I do wonder if I've built a bit of a tolerance and I wonder if
62:21 that's something that other people have done as well you just like force yourself through it yeah yeah cuz is
62:26 like I need to know what happens in the next chapter and feeling sick is
62:30 straight up not more important than that right now I've been there I've been
62:33 there yeah um so Sony is apparently
62:36 working on a PS4 Remote Play app for the
62:39 well for PC and Mac which is pretty cool so here's the original article from uh
62:45 lonus Tech tips uh hold on no sorry
62:48 here's the original article from The Verge sorry my bad I would I'm so stoked
62:52 for the day that we just like happened to get some WR dude and we have original
62:58 articles from line of tech tips yeah I know right that would be super cool
63:01 should happen at some point yeah can't be impossible yeah cuz I mean come on
63:06 how hard was this article to write Remote Play is one of the PlayStation
63:10 4's most underrated features probably because it only works on the VA and some
63:15 Sony smartphones that no one cares about something something this app should
63:19 bring Sony in line with Microsoft which launched Xbox One streaming a while ago
63:23 here's a tweet these things are cool I want them
63:27 to make it so I can just play these games on my computer yep that would be
63:30 better I mean here's something I want to know why can't I just buy a virtual
63:36 PlayStation 4 yes if I'm willing to give Sony $400 to not make any hardware
63:41 shouldn't they Embrace that or you can do my scary but kind of
63:46 cool idea the uh proprietary Drive thing
63:49 do you remember that yep yep yep for the
63:52 for the viewers did did I ever even say this on the show I think so yeah okay
63:56 for the viewers you could get like an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 like optical
64:01 drive or hard drive or whatever and then
64:04 like put the discs in that you have to buy from the store so that they know
64:08 they have their copy protection crap or the hard drive that's controlled by them
64:12 and you can't format or something I don't know cuz it's gotten to the point
64:15 now where Xbox one and PlayStation 4 are just
64:18 PCS they're just PCS there's nothing
64:22 special about them which like aren't even that well priced anymore so if I'm
64:26 like look I don't need your UI I don't
64:29 care about your Netflix app I don't care about any of this stuff I really just
64:33 want a game on my PC why can't I just give you my money and then you can just
64:37 make that work for me I I would be interested to see how many people would do it and like people can be upset all
64:42 they want about you know well what I have to pay $400 to get access to
64:45 exclusive titles uh game developers should just release the titles on PC
64:49 okay but that isn't happening so I agree but yeah it's not happening exactly like
64:53 you just said and I know a lot of people that buy entire consoles for game
64:57 launches like Halo 5 y so I wouldn't be that surprised if it did happen I don't
65:01 know if I would do it but I do know quite a few people that
65:04 would all right what else we got here uh
65:09 in news that surprises absolutely no one EA is already planning more Battlefront
65:13 games y EA confirms its deal with Disney
65:16 which is for like 10 years or something like that Su uh oh my goodness we never
65:21 did our sponsors So speaking of uh
65:24 whatever Phantom something that happens every time yeah wow we have 88,200
65:29 viewers right now yay 88,200 of you can
65:32 use offer code W PG for 20% off at
65:37 phantom.pro if for the next 60 days for the next 60 days really that long offer
65:42 code is valid for 60 days nice cool so
65:45 oh yeah I guess I don't offer code as a Christmas present and just watch them
65:50 hopefully like you a lot um so yeah so these are gorilla glass screen
65:53 protectors for a variety of devices they've got a lot lot of different screen protectors in fact they've got
65:57 their standard ones now they've also got their new two-way privacy glass screen
66:01 protectors available for some Apple devices and uh I guess that's pretty
66:05 straightforward it goes on without any bubbles if you've watched any of our CES
66:10 content from last year you'll know everything there is to know about Phantom glass we played soccer with the
66:15 iPhone 6 that Nick light is now using as
66:18 his daily driver it's that one yeah with Phantom glass on the front and with one
66:24 of those vasel cases as a bumper around the back vessel Vel and a dbrand skin on
66:29 the back or around the edges for the case and between dbrand vessel vasel v i
66:36 don't anyway and Phantom glass that phone completely unscathed
66:41 completely fine completely fine so there you go it's every bit as good as the
66:45 gorilla glass that's already on your phone except you can peel it off and you
66:48 could replace it if you do something incredibly stupid like really try to
66:53 scratch it cuz that's usually how gorilla glass gets scratched but that
66:56 said interesting side note Gorilla Glass is not all made equal uh my iPhone 6s is
67:02 already covered in micros scratches like covered in them whereas the Droid Turbo
67:07 that I've been using for a year is like pristine and they live in the same
67:12 pocket I never put this in my pocket with my keys even Keys shouldn't in
67:17 theory scratch I don't do anything with
67:20 this like I'm actually pretty good with it I don't know I've really noticed a
67:24 significant difference from device to device and the iPhone 6 for example uh
67:29 both its own screen which I used for a while before I put Phantom glass on it
67:33 and the Phantom glass screen that I had on it were fine but the iPhone 6s it's
67:39 possible actually because they don't advertise it as Gorilla Glass anymore it's possible Apple actually switched
67:43 I'm not sure all right and freshbooks

68:14 is sort of repair I was thinking physical repair but there's lots of
68:17 different kinds of repair you know like love

69:37 got an allnew Protek tool kit it's got a
69:40 reimagined design which I mean okay so you kind of access the tools a little
69:44 bit better it makes the tools easier to access which is I guess where the
69:47 reimagining comes in it includes the new 64-bit driver kit which replaced the
69:52 former 54 bit driver kit it's got a more durable case it has a newly designed
69:57 swivel top Precision driver and a flex extension for hard to- reach
70:02 screws thank you Luke it's got Precision electrostatic discharge safe tweezers
70:07 including a pair of reverse tweezers it's got a wider variety of plastic
70:10 opening tools and picks to safely work on tablets and smartphones it's got a
70:13 suction cup the old one didn't have that for display assembly removal a metal
70:17 spudger and I fix its own rubber handle Jimmy pry tool I haven't seen this this
70:21 is way better have you seen it yeah I have I I we got two of them I took the
70:24 other one home oh get wrecked rude so so yeah basically it just
70:30 includes more iix it goodness and look
70:33 at the yep okay well hold up hold up put that back on I want to show them
70:38 something so it sits in here and you can see put it vertical it's fine but you
70:42 can take the box off which is magnetically held in and then you can
70:45 take the cover of the Box off which is also magnetically held wa to go well
70:50 that's cuz I held it in a really stupid way that was my fault but like I don't
70:53 know it's cool yeah no I'm liking it and
70:56 like the uh like the screwdriver has a really nice um neural bottom on it now
71:03 so you can get a little bit more torque with it looks more usable yeah it's it's
71:06 it's thicker in general and we as we all know thicker is always better um thicker
71:11 yeah this is really cool I actually hadn't seen it before and it's not the
71:15 it's not the standard 54 bit driver kit but um there is a there's like a wooden
71:20 box version of this too yeah yeah that one looks really nice they didn't send
71:24 me one NCIX has one yeah so I was kind
71:28 of like maybe I should just buy one but anyway if I do I'll be using offer code
71:33 when show to save $10 on a purchase of $50 or
71:37 more oh I like these yeah the little uh
71:41 the little guitar picks yeah all right so um I don't know I guess what the heck
71:46 else is there I guess not a whole lot sure let's
71:52 call that the show thank you guys for tuning in to the show we will see you
71:56 again next week same bat Time same bat Channel sorry there's no Afterparty

72:08 doing are you streaming from here no oh okay no all right
72:19 bye yeah I'm liking it that's why I one
72:26 well you know what people always people
72:30 lose my bits people I want one that's in
72:33 pristine condition and as long as I'm the only one who ever uses it it will
72:36 stay that way so that's why I took it home also I don't have an iFix it kit at
72:41 home I have just been keeping one in my bag and now that we have so many so many
72:45 kids I want to just keep one at home because yeah I don't like carrying it in
72:49 my bag all the time yeah I don't like other people using my tools that's why I
72:53 got John all of his own stuff I especially see don't like other people
72:56 using my tools other than me no I don't
72:59 like you well that Tool's fine
