and steel series hey guys I'm here at the Indie meab Booth again with a game
0:08
that I'm going to call ryus but uh I will have the developer actually tell me
0:12
how it's actually called so it's a Dutch game and we actually pronounce it
0:17
Rose we still allow you to say Rus though that helps me a lot because that
0:22
pronunciation is difficult for me can you go over a brief overview of what
0:25
this game is about yeah sure uh so it's a God game and you control several
0:29
Giants you probably see them here in the background and these Giants shape nature
0:33
and you shape nature to create a Utopia for mankind so mankind settles down
0:38
they're not on your under your control but they do use all the resources on the
0:41
planet and at some point they will want more than you can give them and they'll
0:45
start attacking each other and they'll even start attacking your Giants so even
0:49
though your goal is to develop Humanity they're actually really impeding you
0:53
with that so it's the goal to balance greet and growth there's a really
0:58
interesting background narrative now these Giants are they different types
1:02
yeah so there are four different types you control all of them at uh any time
1:05
there's a rock giant who responsible for the mountains you got an ocean giant
1:09
Forest Giant and then the swamp giant who does some more exotic uh things yeah
1:14
and how would you balance those like how would you go about I know there's different ways but how would you go
1:18
about creating your personal Utopia for Humanity so there's several uh ways
1:22
about it you start off with a clean planet or clean slate so you can do
1:26
whatever you want but uh Humanity will behave differently so they will uh give
1:30
you different rewards so you'll have to definitely interact with that and then
1:34
there's an RPG element to the Giants so at any uh in any session you can only
1:39
pick a few abilities that you will level up high so that means you would either
1:42
go for animal life or plant life or for many upgrades or lots of resources now
1:47
going through this game what are some key events that a player would run into
1:51
okay some key events it starts up with ter escaping and then you've got like
1:55
the first settlement and if you're good
1:58
enough you'll get War eventually because it'll only happen if Humanity grows too
2:02
fast so war is actually a very important
2:05
event because it stops you from developing humanity and makes you deal
2:09
with problems instead and then there's a tragic moment that your giant is
2:14
attacked and might it might even die so
2:17
losing a giant losing a big core element of the game how does that play in and
2:21
how did you go about balancing that so it's very hard to lose a giant you would
2:26
really easily destroy a village or an army but because your goal is to develop
2:30
uh Humanity you wouldn't really do that you try to avoid that so actually if the
2:35
player is too greedy about that he's going to lose the giant only them and
2:39
without one of the Giants you can never do anything in the game anymore so you
2:43
you just lose the game yeah so really can you actually win this game you can
2:49
but uh it's based on a meta game in which you try to create a Utopia but
2:53
every time your Giants go to sleep and wake up again like all of Utopia is gone
2:57
planet is Barren again so humanity is screwed up up so you would only win if
3:02
you unlock every different uh development for Humanity you learned
3:06
everything there is about humanity and you create the perfect Utopia all the
3:09
way in the end game and that's that's when you win actually it's a really
3:13
interesting spin on a God game because in most God games there might be
3:17
rebellions but it's usually rebellions against a king that's in the game not
3:20
the actual God that you control so it's interesting to see that they can actually attack you directly what is
3:24
your personal favorite part about this game my personal favorite part uh like
3:29
I'm going AI programmer of this game so I really like watching the tiny humans
3:33
and they can talk about all kinds of different things and they'll do different things and they'll start
3:37
asking for resources so my favorite part is watching those yeah awesome thanks
