0:00 now this this is a cool product now i'
0:04 there have been quite a few liquid cooled uh memory kits in the past but I
0:08 have never actually seen one in person
0:11 this is the first one that I've gotten to check out so this is a hyperx
0:15 Performance Kit from Kingston and it is liquid cooling ready you see those barbs
0:20 right there those appear to be 1/4 in barbs which I will explain how you can
0:24 actually make practical use of even in a custom liquid cooled setup so these are
0:29 DDR 3 2,000 MHz C9 modules it's a 6 gig
0:33 kit so that means it's optimal for core i7 on the LGA 1366
0:39 platform let's open it up and have a look oh yeah and there's a joke there's
0:44 a joke in this episode that is just like the funniest thing ever but you have to
0:47 wait till the end have you have to wait till the end
0:51 to find out what the joke is it's really funny though okay so here
0:56 it is hyperx H2O so I'm just going to lift it out by the barbs here
1:01 here there we go so I'm not sure exactly
1:04 how this heat spreader works but you can see it's got like blue accents on it oh
1:09 I like that check that out so it's got like blue hyperx style accents and then
1:14 over top of that there's kind of like a black and red and white themed uh heat
1:19 spreader here so let me sort of let's
1:23 look closer at this and see if we can figure out exactly how the whole thing
1:26 Clips together so you can see there's screws here and here okay and those go
1:30 all the way through so presumably that's clamping the entire heat spreader down
1:36 on uh on top of what seems to be like a a
1:42 sub heat spreader I can't tell if the black one and the blue one are actually
1:46 like permanently attached or if they're just clamped together and then you've
1:50 got a thermal interface material between the uh the heat spreaders and the dim
1:54 itself they're not that heavy actually I'm I'm a little bit surprised they're
1:59 really not that heavy it looks like uh these barbs just go straight through so
2:03 you can see right there so there's no um there's no winding around through the
2:07 water block I mean really RAM doesn't produce a lot of heat so if you're even
2:10 just giving it some contact with cool water it should cool it more than
2:13 adequately and uh okay that was pretty much it for the unboxing and checking
2:17 out the hyper xh2o uh the next part is
2:21 check out the uh wait wait for the wait for the joke wait for the joke it's funny okay this is the joke this is the
2:25 joke so um here on the hyperx H2O page
2:30 it says it's delivers high speeds and Extreme Performance features a unique
2:34 extreme cooling option that uses liquid to dissipate heat so that's all great
2:38 and fine and then down at the very bottom notice all Kingston products are tested to meet our public published
2:43 specifications Kingston does not recommend that any user attempt to run
2:47 their computers faster than the published speed overclocking or
2:51 modifying your system timing may result in damage to computer components so it's
2:55 I don't know I just I okay maybe it's not that funny now that I look at it
2:58 again but um I just thought it was kind of funny that
3:02 Kingston's selling you like liquid cooling ready memory with a warning not
3:06 to overclock it because uh yeah you're
3:10 pretty much going to do that oh yeah and uh the way that I would recommend
3:13 running this memory if you want if you're running like a 38 or a/ in water
3:17 cooling system and you want to make it compatible with the/ qu in barbs on the
3:21 hyperx H2O is what I would do is I would get like a a three-way splitter or a
3:25 four-way splitter and then just plug up one of the ends and then actually split
3:29 your 38 in tubing or your half in tubing into 3/4 in go into your triple Channel
3:35 memory from the top come out the bottom meet into another splitter and then meet
3:40 up with the rest of your Loop that way you don't lose a whole lot of flow going
3:43 through these uh tight quarter inch barbs and you're still able to get all
3:46 the extra performance out of these dims now that's not to say these won't run
3:50 just fine without water cooling if you just want to run them air cool that's
3:53 fine too thank you for checking out my unboxing of the hyperx H2O and don't
