0:07 welcome to my unboxing of AMD memory but
0:11 AMD doesn't make memory you might say to
0:14 which I would reply AMD also doesn't technically make CPUs now that they
0:18 don't have their own Fabs however that does not prevent AMD
0:23 from qualifying and validating and
0:27 marketing memory with the right partner
0:31 so in the case of their CPUs their partners are guys like Global foundaries
0:35 which is actually a spin-off of AMD's old old Fabs um in this case I am not
0:42 going to tell you who the partner is for the memory but I think you'll be able to figure it out by the time I'm done with
0:46 the video so I'm not going to take a look at the Oh shoot what are they
0:50 called right entertainment performance and radon grade memories separately this
0:56 is going to be more of an overview of what is an what is an AMD memory um in
1:00 general rather than looking at every single grade but entertainment is the
1:04 lowest end performance is the mid-grade and then Radeon is the high-end so this
1:08 is performance this is cl8 1.5 volt 1333
1:12 MHz RAM it's a 2x4 gig kit you're not going to find any triple or quad Channel
1:17 kits because AMD CPUs are all using dual Channel controllers from the a6s and a8s
1:23 the apus of the world that is combination CPU gpus on one chip all the
1:27 way up to their black edition f X chips
1:30 so AMD per let's see what they have to say for themselves AMD performance
1:33 Edition DDR DDR3 memory kits are specifically designed for the latest
1:37 generation AMD processors they utilize low profile heat spreaders for enhanced
1:40 cooling performance built using high quality pre-screened ic's and vigorously
1:43 tested these AMD performance Edition modules are 100% hand tested for quality
1:47 assurance backed by lifetime warranty and Industry leading customer support so
1:50 here's something interesting for you guys I actually do know for a fact that
1:55 they do use prescreened ic's and they actually lock it down to a particular
1:59 particular build that is to say a bomb a
2:03 a build of materials so what that means is that every AMD performance 1333 cl8
2:11 kit is using pretty much the same components as every other one now okay
2:17 isn't it always like that you might ask to which I would reply absolutely not um
2:21 you know look at a performance memory brand such as Corsair on the side of
2:25 their memory you'll often see revision 1.1 1.2 2 .1 2.2 2.3 all the way up to
2:32 I've seen revision numbers as high as double digits on Corsair memory so they
2:36 are often changing the components which isn't to say that's a bad thing because
2:41 particularly for highgrade memory chips especially back in the ddr2 days it was
2:45 often necessary to change the components in order to get the yields they needed
2:49 to hit those high speeds what does that mean if for the end user it means that
2:53 if you're upgrading your exactly the same part number might not necessarily
2:57 even work in dual Channel with your other exactly the same part number but
3:00 different revision RAM it also means if you're building 10 systems at a time and
3:04 you have five that are one revision and five that are another revision you right
3:08 might run into issues where one doesn't work with another which brings us to the
3:11 point of all of this AMD released memory so that they would be sure that any AMD
3:16 memory would work in any AMD motherboard without any
3:21 fuss hold on a second okay and maximum performance
3:26 latest generation okay okay okay build and supported by Patriot memory LLC so
3:29 there go so yes it is a very very
3:33 well-known lifetime warranty actually still builds modules in North America
3:38 brand that is building and supporting these for AMD they have black pcbs which
3:44 I think is a must on anything that you're going to call Performance Edition
3:48 which is on the other side and then you got your sort of standard part number
3:51 built by Patriots see it's not really a secret really uh warranty void if
3:55 removed you don't want to take this off there's a low profile heat sink and I think that pretty much wraps it up so
3:59 thank you for checking out my unboxing and first look at AMD
