0:00 okay so today I'm going to be doing the first in a series of retro unboxings
0:06 okay so I'm going to be unboxing the ASUS best value combo of PCI Express
0:12 solution all right so this features a state-of-the-art Cutting Edge AI
0:18 proactive P5 gd1 motherboard featuring
0:21 the Intel 95p chipset and I don't know
0:24 if you're going to be able to see this but see how much dust comes off this
0:28 box I found this in some corner of the
0:32 warehouse okay so this is a PCI Express back when that was like a Cutting Edge
0:36 feature okay and then it also features an extreme ax 600 XT which is basically
0:42 a 9600 Pro adapted for a PCI Express
0:46 interface with with a fan on it so let's go down and see what features are
0:51 included with this particular powerful features uh combo here so complete
0:56 directex 9.0 support excellent variety
1:01 connectivity with dvii TV out and dual
1:05 VGA okay and then we have Game Face live
1:09 video oh man that's Dusty oh it has a three-year warranty which by the way is
1:12 probably up at this point totally gone okay it supports lga775 Pentium 4 CPU
1:18 dual Channel ddr400 and SATA as well as IDE raid
1:26 there you go that is a feature I haven't seen in a while IDE raid also there are
1:32 valuables inside this box including a webcam and a Gamepad which are under
1:36 oneyear warranty period which is totally gone oh and it includes a free copy of
1:41 DSX Invisible War wow that that is an
1:45 old game at this point so let's get this thing opened up here oh something about
1:50 Wireless G cool all right smart art doctor stack cool all right so inside oh
1:55 we find lots of goodies so why don't we start with some of the accessory boxes
1:59 here here all right here's an accessory box this is
2:03 uh ah this seems to be a mount for the webcam okay and then we
2:09 have uh what is this ah yes the webcam
2:13 okay so if I could just get this open we could have a look at this
2:17 state-of-the-art Cutting Edge webcam here there you go it plugs in by
2:22 USB ooh no I'm just kidding USBS was was
2:27 was not not new then either okay so
2:31 we've got the webcam sorted out let's find out what's in the next box here so
2:36 oh I don't even think I can like reach that one yet okay okay why don't we find
2:39 out what's in this box there we go so this is probably going to be our
2:43 motherboard accessories would be my guess aha so it comes with a very
2:47 complete accessory package including a a driver CD all right a user guide with uh
2:55 a graphics card driver CD okay oh and the user guide includes a graphics card
3:00 setup setup thing as well I'm just going to get that CD so I don't lose it okay a
3:05 now I dropped it forget it okay so then we have let's see this is four SATA
3:10 cables and they come with little caps on them remember that wow haven't seen that
3:14 one in a while two more SATA cables so that's a total of four SATA cables all
3:19 right it comes with uh two USB oh and a joystick Port Port for the back awesome
3:26 awesome haven't seen one of those in a while either two ID cables 180 pin and
3:31 140 pin so that's for a hard drive that's for an optical drive and then a
3:36 floppy cable ironically those are still coming with motherboards these days okay
3:41 then we've got an IO Shield all right we've got a DVI to VGA
3:46 adapter okay then we have oh this is great this is an S video to composite
3:52 output adapter for the video card and
3:55 last but not least we have Molex to dual SATA power adapter because a lot of
4:00 power supplies back in the day did not come with SATA H SATA power oh this is
4:06 interesting oh this is nice I've never seen okay so Aus CD Suite this comes
4:13 with all of your CDs in it that's pretty cool so there's your day copy of DSX
4:18 game disc install disc comes with a copy of aus DVD all right I actually have a
4:24 copy of this somewhere it came with a laptop I bought in fact I have all I
4:27 have these two came with an assus laptop I bought years ago okay uh you lead cool
4:33 3D SE all right oh and it's got some more slots hey this is actually a pretty
4:36 nice little uh CD wallet there that's very nice okay so I'm going to just take
4:41 this piece out just so that I can get at this one okay so in here we will find oh
4:48 an impregnable box ah I found it here's the seam okay
4:54 so this includes a an Aus gam pad wow
4:57 that's actually pretty hefty that's got like a quality feel to it cuz that's one
5:02 thing that they did do back then better you know more heavy duty stuff it's like
5:07 everything seems sort of like this is making me sound old but everything seems
5:11 kind of like cheap in plastic sometimes these days okay so this is a dual analog
5:16 game controller with four buttons here it has turbo something about analog it
5:21 has macro support clear oh and then more buttons on the back so it has dual
5:25 shoulder buttons it plugs in by USB and it's got like stylish red R rubberized
5:30 grip and then black rubberized grip this actually hey this is pretty nice
5:34 actually no I quite like this it's pretty ergonomic okay yeah yeah I could
5:39 I could handle getting one of those for free with my motherboard not that we've
5:42 seen an offer like that in you know oh years okay all right now let's get down
5:47 to the real business here it is The Cutting
5:51 Edge PCI Express graphics card wow an
5:56 orange PCB excellent so it has a blower
5:59 design for the fan here you can see that blows the air down towards the uh
6:04 towards the graphics Port itself this features the atti rage theater chip
6:09 which I forget what it does at this point but it does something relevant
6:13 okay so like I said this is an x600 which is basically equivalent to a
6:18 Radeon 9600 so you can see I believe it
6:21 would be DDR memory on the back here rated at how however many Nan seconds
6:26 would have been relevant back then all right so there's the video card now
6:29 let's have a look at the motherboard so you can see we've got all the features
6:34 loaded onto this motherboard let's start with the uh CPU so it supports an lga775
6:39 CPU but forget support for dual course quad course none of that nonsense only
6:44 single core Pentium fors that's it okay you've got support for dual Channel DDR
6:50 not two not three DDR 184 pin DDR all
6:54 right you have oh this is great count them 1 2 3 IDE ports excellent
7:02 supporting up to six IDE drives awesome
7:05 feature right there Then you have four SATA 1 ports okay remember we're up to
7:11 SATA 3 now on current motherboards here is your conveniently colorcoded front
7:16 panel headers then you've got a couple USB 2.0 headers now in terms of
7:20 expansion slots you have one PCI Express 16x gen 1 and then you've got three PCI
7:26 and two PCI Express 1X slots sorry did I
7:30 say two I meant three PCI Express 1X slots your power ports are conveniently
7:34 located with your 24 pin along the right hand Edge and your four pin up at the
7:38 very top remember we're up to eight pin now on those guys all right and this is
7:43 fanless design zero noise no moving parts so that's your mosfet cooler you
7:47 can see we've come a long way on those as well let's have a look at the back
7:50 panel ports Okay so we've got two PS2 ports now we have normally like only one
7:56 okay we've got a printer port nice nice
8:00 serial Port okay then we have digital
8:03 audio out then we've got four USB ports
8:08 I don't even know if this is a gigabit Lan but it's some kind of Lan port and
8:12 then 7.1 HD audio so thank you for
8:15 checking out my uh somewhat dated
8:19 unboxing of the P5 gd1 and extreme ax600
8:24 XT uh best value
8:27 combo from isus
