0:00 I think I'm finally starting to understand you guys the numbers tell me
0:04 that y'all really like cheap sh and your
0:08 comments are giving me a slightly different version of the story one that
0:12 I think I've also figured out you want to see the cheap stuff that's also the
0:19 good stuff so we went looking for the
0:22 least expensive keyboard on the market
0:25 but one that is still fully mechanic mechanical and without
0:31 any of that mechanical feel marketing
0:35 Malarkey either so here we go then a
0:38 Roundup of the nine cheapest true
0:42 mechanical keyboards on Amazon
0:53 enjoy the be quiet! dark Bass Pro 900s
0:56 modular design supports a variety of different layouts and configurations
1:00 click on the link in the video description to learn more first up is our audience's favorite
1:06 brand apparently red dragon products
1:10 have been flying off the shelves like
1:14 fire since our last peripheral Roundup
1:17 available here this is the red dragon
1:22 k551 Vara the product page says it is
1:26 built like a tank and actually we're
1:29 inclined to agree it's Splash prooof and
1:32 the exposed steel back plate is sturdy
1:35 not to mention heavy AF it's got double
1:39 shot injection key caps with a gamery
1:42 but very readable Legend over top of what they describe as Cherry green
1:48 equivalent switches but they both look and feel a lot more like blues if you
1:53 ask me with that in mind then the typing experience is pretty good but the key
1:58 caps are a little on the slippery side and keystrokes produce a metallic twang
2:03 that like country music you'll either love or
2:07 hate the backlight has a generous 10 steps of brightness including off but
2:11 unfortunately only one effect breathing
2:14 though an RGB version is available and
2:17 there's an unlit one as well in case you want to save
2:22 $2 owas Demon King is a 10 keyless with
2:27 according to the Box its own branded owa
2:31 mechanical Blue switches but it turns out that they're actually just Gaton
2:36 blues and the diagram on their website is a ripoff of Razor's marketing
2:41 materials for their razor green switches produced by Kale anywh who the keyboard
2:47 itself is nice and heavy but with more deck Flex than other keyboards in our
2:52 Roundup and typing is overall okay due
2:56 in large part to the laser engraved key caps whose WID and raised Corners are
3:02 debatably fine but whose keycap wobble
3:05 is not the Dual Purpose keys have the symbols beside each other rather than
3:11 stacked so the backlit version that we're assuming exists can illuminate
3:15 both but on ours it's just kind of hard to read or funny my favorite keys are
3:21 the 5% key and the
3:24 one on that subject there's also an indicator light for numlock even though
3:28 there's no number pad it's a decent board overall if you don't
3:32 mind the annoyingly narrow Enter key since it uses the European ISO layout
3:36 rather than the North American NY the next keyboard on our list isn't a
3:41 mechanical keyboard at all it's the airox k500 Irina capova named after a
3:49 Russian actress for some reason we're actually including this one just to
3:54 highlight how easy it is for people with little experience with mechanical
3:58 keyboards to order the wrong thing this
4:01 one is in Amazon's mechanical keyboard
4:05 category even though it uses scissor key
4:08 switches for what it's worth though she feels a little cheap but she types
4:12 pretty nice if you're into low profile switches if Apple made a mechanical
4:17 keyboard aimed at Gamers with a rainbow
4:20 LED scheme at okay it's not very Appley at all but the 10 keyless z77 from e-
4:27 element is actually pretty sweet anyway it's otmu Blue switches are a little
4:32 louder than Cherry MX Blues but otherwise they offer a very similar
4:36 tactile experience and they also have
4:39 some extra brackets around the cross that are supposed to increase stability
4:45 but it should be added you won't be able to add your own sound dampening O-rings
4:49 the build quality feels solid and even though the backlight colors can't be
4:54 changed on this version it comes preloaded with nine effects that are
4:58 easy to control with without the use of software finally I'm not sure if this is
5:04 a good sign or not but they included a few extra key switches in the Box should
5:10 the board's original PCB mounted switches fail so ugly gray cable aside
5:16 this one is a great option and if you're
5:19 looking for an even more compact version
5:22 of the same try the 545 g e element z88
5:27 super skolar all all the features and
5:30 keys of the z77 but Smarter with a
5:35 smaller footprint and bezeless design it
5:38 actually has some other improvements too like a detachable cord Cable Management
5:43 tracks and multiple backlight color
5:46 choices but what if you want bigger and not smaller then there's the uh hey wait
5:52 a tick no this one isn't for me element actually it says it's an eagletech
5:58 kg011 one and yet it has a similar
6:02 finish and the exact same Legend as the
6:06 last two boards and that's the same
6:09 legend that the red dragon keyboard was using too okay so budget keyboard part
6:15 sourcing seems to be a little inbred but regardless this one is also a nice board
6:21 with an icy blue backlight that can be set to breathing mode and a Corsair
6:26 inspired metal back plate not to mention
6:29 that like the others mentioned switchable WD and arrow keys are
6:34 included in case you wear out one of the sets and now then for something
6:39 completely different this thing is called the kissan or magic Force smart
6:46 one depending on where you look it's our
6:49 smallest keyboard with just 68 keys and
6:52 weighing a mere 528 G the Blasted finish
6:56 of the back plate belies its low price tag and it's even available with
7:01 switches from Cherry Gaton or otmu for
7:05 different feels what they all have in common though is that the function and
7:10 number Keys which have been combined and
7:13 a removable cord and media on the go adapter are all included to make it a
7:19 very portable keyboard you might even consider taking this one to class since
7:23 ours uses the quiet otmu black linear
7:27 switches these have a similar feel to Cherry MX Reds the ones that are so
7:32 common in gaming boards but quite a lot
7:36 heavier okay now this 10 key actually is
7:39 from e- element though it has a different Legend different key caps and
7:43 even different stems the screws on this weird
7:47 compartment on the bottom made us think that they might have put weights inside
7:51 like a high-end gaming mouse but no all
7:55 1,220 G of this puppy seem to be from
7:58 the thick steel back plate it's got a
8:02 bunch of lighting modes even though the backlight color can't be changed and if
8:06 you're into that sort of thing it's probably our loudest keyboard in this
8:11 Roundup overall not bad and it's the
8:14 only one with an included wrist rest though with that said we couldn't find
8:17 anyone whose wrists or even Palms actually touched it the dro grammar or
8:23 gramar or caliber whatever it is is a
8:26 lone wolf in many respects it's the old only board in our Roundup that uses
8:31 Brown switches offering a happy medium between typing and gaming and apparently
8:38 it helps you use every Spell correctly
8:41 which okay it's also the only one with a
8:45 braided cable embedded numpad and the
8:49 ability to set up five of your own lighting schemes though the included
8:54 effects are a fair bit cooler as for the
8:57 cons the otherwise nice backlit double
9:00 shot key caps have additional pad printing on the outside that looks
9:04 blurry and cheap the casing is creaky and the caps lock key is illuminated
9:08 when caps lock is off rather than on for some reason overall though we really
9:13 liked its feel features and compact layout now then to hand out the trophies
9:19 the magic Force definitely put a spell on me it's sturdy yet light and is
9:25 available with a wide variety of
9:28 different configs very ious key switches key counts and even backlights if you're
9:34 looking for something big heavy and gamery though we ended up recommending
9:38 red dragon again and I also personally
9:42 thought that the e- element z77 was pretty well rounded with that said
9:47 though the big surprise here is that none of these boards stands out as bad
9:54 your mileage may vary though because at the low end of the market you don't get
9:58 the same quality assurance program that you would from a major brand though at
10:03 these prices there's the argument to be made that you could just pick up another
10:07 one if it dies Blue Apron lets you create
