0:00 so this my friends is going to be a pretty interesting little project this
0:06 is our new conference room boardroom
0:09 meeting room whatever it is you want to call it and up until now it has
0:12 basically had a chair that was left over from chair racing the built-in bench
0:17 seating that we talked about in some of the moving blogs a mini fridge and a
0:22 table in it but the table's pretty cool because it's going to allow us to Tech
0:26 out this room in a way that'll make it great for having meetings and looking at
0:31 projections and all that kind of stuff which is appropriate because we're going to be using a projector on that wall and
0:37 we are going to turn it into actually kind of a sick little gaming space so
0:42 come along for the ride as we pimp out our conference
0:54 room the master case 5 by Cooler Master gives you the freedom to truly make your
0:59 midtower PC Chase your own with a variety of modular parts and accessories
1:03 check out the link in the video description to learn more so it starts
1:07 with better seating we reached out to our buds over at Max nomic who actually
1:11 outf footed the rest of the office with chairs already and they are sending us
1:15 their slightly less gamery looking like there's no orange on them but definitely
1:19 comfortable office Comfort chairs to Kit
1:22 out the other three sides of the table that don't have built-in seating next up
1:27 Kara graciously sent us a project ctor screen and this thing is flipping huge
1:34 you know for uh so everyone can see those charts and projections in our
1:39 meetings and finally oh wow I just
1:43 dinged the wall that's okay we're going to put a projector screen
1:47 there and finally Acer's
1:50 h7550 St DLP projector is going to be
1:54 handling well projection duties this thing was sent to us a billion years ago
1:58 when I told Acer hey we're thinking about moving but we need a projector for
2:02 our new boardroom and they were like yeah but you just make sure you get the
2:05 video done in a timely manner now they didn't stay that last
2:10 part which is good because I didn't so this puppy's got three HDMI inputs one
2:13 of which is on the inside for a streaming dongle like a chomecast it's
2:17 even got a little USB power port in there it's got its typical power in and
2:22 we've got our power plug on the ceiling to go along with that but hold on a
2:25 second lonus what about HDMI you don't have an HDMI port in the ceiling do you
2:29 no I do not but I do have a pretty cool
2:33 table so to go along with the 3D glasses
2:37 yes we have a 3D projector for our conference room yeah they also sent over
2:43 their Wireless HD kit this is a 60 GHz
2:46 wireless HDMI kit that I am hoping will be low latency enough for gaming I mean
2:51 uh uh presentations so basically what you do is you plug your laptop into the
2:55 power ports that are built into the table the HDMI and landan ports that are
2:59 built into the table table and then we're going to have our transmitter on
3:02 the bottom of the table so you don't have to run any wires you just plug in
3:06 Bippity Bop and you are streaming hopefully in very low latency to the
3:10 projector so let's test it out shall
3:15 we so putting together the projector frame was pretty straightforward you
3:20 basically just screw the thing into the thing you put a couple of uh mounting
3:25 brackets for the wall rails onto it and
3:29 then you realize that Kara doesn't actually provide the screws for the wall
3:34 brackets themselves so because we're using metal studs here I am going to
3:40 have to either go find out if we have
3:43 any screws that are appropriate for mounting something heavy to metal studs
3:47 or I'm going to have to go obtain some of
3:50 them so we have obtained the tools we need a tape measure some metal screws a
3:56 drill some drill bits a level and a pencil
4:01 and now we need to figure out where exactly we are going to put it okay so
4:05 we have a tough decision to make center
4:08 for the area where people will be seating seated or Center on the
4:15 wall no legitimately Brandon what should we do I would go with seating Center for
4:21 seating this going to look weird though cuz we're going to have like 4 in of
4:25 space here and like and it won't even be centered it
4:31 still won't be centered so sometimes I
4:34 just need someone to say my idea back to me so I can realize how stupid it
4:38 sounds um I could really use a
4:50 ladder 4 in how about that okay sure 1 and 38
4:58 in from where you want the top got
5:03 it let's mark some studs hey hopefully
5:07 this piece of studfinder works it's working just
5:15 fine okay nothing is ever easy when you're
5:21 less and you write nothing down it's
5:24 okay because I remembered 103
5:27 and2 so getting all the frame mounting
5:30 hardware on the wall was actually pretty straightforward as long as you're pretty
5:35 handy with a measuring tape so basically the way it works is you've got your two
5:40 rails on the top end to end and then you
5:43 sit the hooks on the frame on top of that and then these bottom ones these
5:48 bottom ones are tricky because if you don't align it just right it won't work
5:53 because you might be thinking well hold on a second unless you slide it on how's
5:57 it go in there you actually have to stretch the
6:01 frame down under them then the whole
6:04 thing is hooked but of course now we have to take the whole thing down and
6:08 put the actual screen on because I just put it up here for a test
6:15 bit so we need to do this okay so the
6:19 clip for that is aimed for that t so the
6:24 process of clipping the frame working your way around the outside is what
6:29 iions the screen material and gives it a
6:32 nice flat surface so with the screen itself
6:38 tensioned and placed onto the back of the frame it's time to pick up the frame
6:44 again take it back into the boardroom and hang it for real this time so with
6:49 the screen stretched over the frame it was almost as easy to mount it on the
6:53 wall hangers requiring just a little bit more Force than last time to stretch it
6:59 over over the bottom hanger once it was on though it's pretty much flush against
7:04 the wall just a fraction of a cimet of
7:07 clearance around every Edge and looks pretty darn sharp okay and actually the
7:13 decision that we wanted to make earlier but whether to center it in the room or
7:18 whatever was sort of a moot point because you could slide in a fair pit
7:23 after the
7:28 fact
7:41 chair assembly was pretty straightforward nothing I've never done before took about 20 minutes per chair
7:46 and the end result is what you see right
7:50 here it is starting to look like a
7:53 boardroom in here but of course now it's
7:57 time to fire up the projector and see what the difference is between our
8:02 conference room and most conference
8:07 rooms all right there we
8:12 go not too shabby so projector alignment
8:17 can be a bit of a nightmare you Keystone when you should have Twisted you twist
8:22 when you should have moved it to the right you tilt it up when oh no you've
8:27 broken the Keystone now uh but I did
8:31 eventually get it pretty darn close to where we want it to be in terms of
8:36 filling the frame without cutting off things like the start menu a huge
8:40 disadvantage that people who intend to use their projectors for presentations
8:45 and Windows versus people who want to watch movies where you can sacrifice a
8:49 16th of an inch of the edge of a movie whereas you cannot really do that with
8:54 your start menu we got it to the point where it needed to be and then moment of
8:59 truth cuz quite frankly if you look at it in comparison to the screen running
9:04 on the table next to it and not that impressive yeah projectors They Don't
9:09 Really shine so to speak until you turn out the light and that is exactly what
9:14 we did and boy is it an experience in
9:20 here now okay you know what let me see if
9:23 anyone else is still here I need a few volunteers to play an Android game on
9:27 the gigantic projector upstairs yes quicker to train a monkey okay so
9:34 why is pickup skip the tutorial it
9:37 everyone everyone there we go okay freefor
9:41 all don't touch sticky bombs if you don't want to blow up you guys should
9:46 probably team up on Duck yeah so Taran
9:49 you're just going to throw mines until I just I don't know what to do wow there
9:54 are mines everywhere Jesus yeah no I'm uh I'm super pleased
9:59 with how this turned out oh wow everyone stay away from
10:02 Teran oh oh uhoh
10:10 yes okay so in a word that was freaking
10:13 awesome um but what we still don't know
10:18 is whether our wireless dongle will allow us to just plug consoles in down
10:22 here and have a low latency gaming experience up there once we ceiling
10:27 mount the projector at a later date so to validate the latency of the wireless
10:32 dongle I'm going to be using our tried and true Makey Makey test methodology so
10:38 I'm recording in slow-mo on the iPhone and then I'm going to use the Makey
10:41 Makey to touch these two wires together
10:44 generating a left click so I'm going to look at the delay between the light
10:48 turning on on the Makey Makey and the click registering on that icon
10:52 there so here we
10:58 go oh that's trippy hey you can see the uh
11:03 you can see the DLP color
11:06 wheel so the basic methodology for this
11:09 is I go frame by frame through the video clip there we go and I look for the
11:16 frame where the light on the Makey Makey
11:20 illuminates then keep skipping 1 2 3
11:27 4 okay there it is now it's highlighted
11:32 all right so looking at our results it looks like our wireless HDMI adapter
11:36 adds about 30 milliseconds of latency to
11:40 our input chain not too bad is it
11:44 perfect no but we're also not going to be playing you know competitive level
11:48 CSO on here as well so I am pretty pleased and I'm going ahead Full Steam
11:53 with the plan to run wireless HDMI and mount the projector on the ceiling
12:00 but let's suppose for a second you did not want to game with controllers well
12:05 good news for you because I have three
12:10 sets yes friends three complete sets of
12:13 Phoenix collection gaming peripheral so their their whole stick is like yeah we
12:18 got like really kind of Premium feels to the products here so check this out this
12:22 right here is the Arya headset and the
12:26 stick on this guy is that the acoustic chamber is made entirely of Japanese
12:29 Pinewood I don't personally know that Japanese Pinewood necessarily sounds
12:34 better but it certainly looks great so little something like that it's
12:38 got 50 mm drivers it's got memory foam and protein Leather Ear cushions and the
12:43 cushions are definitely definitely nice feeling right there it's got a
12:47 detachable cord the instructions for which are inside the box but there's
12:50 more than that yes each of these three lucky winners will also win an ACA 8200
12:56 DPI laser mouse one of those puppies right there a Deora mouse pad which I'm
13:02 going to have to open because I did not do that before this thing here yeah
13:07 there we
13:12 go yes friends it looks a little something like that and finally an aore
13:17 keyboard so this is featuring Cherry MX Brown switches my personal favorite as
13:22 well as silk screened key cap so it's a full 104 key layout just a little
13:27 something like that so you're probably wondering to yourself well hold on a second lonus how do I
13:31 enter this compelling giveaway well you'll find the full instructions for
13:35 how to do it linked in the video description and there's only one week to
