this is the sound science rocket 3D this
0:03
is a 2.1 speaker system with a Twist
0:07
okay so let's start with the outside of the box and then I'll get into a little
0:11
bit more detail about what is unique about the rockus so here oh we actually
0:16
find absolutely no information whatsoever okay moving around to the
0:20
other side we will find absolutely no information whatsoever except for a
0:25
small sticker that says it is the sound
0:28
science rocket so I'm going to go ahead get my knife out here and let's get this
0:31
baby open and show you guys what is going down in plain empty cardboard box
0:40
town and last one there we are ah we
0:44
have a retail box in there I could have actually started the unboxing with the
0:48
proper retail box rather than this well I didn't know cameraman's giving me that
0:52
look it's like how was I supposed to
0:55
know okay there we go now we're going to learn about features and basically what
1:01
it looks like so it's a speaker system okay if a 2.1 didn't give that away
1:05
before then uh you might as well unsubscribe to the channel now because
1:09
there's no hope for you um specifications here we go 2.1 5.7 in
1:14
Satellite speakers we've got a 13.8 in subwoofer oh no hold on 13.8 in height
1:20
subwoofer with a 6.5 in diameter subwoofer uh driver okay we've got a
1:26
total weight of 8.5 kg output is 150 w
1:29
Watts that is 25 watts each to the satellites and 100 watts to the sub and
1:34
what all do we have here okay here's some specs in terms of how you hook it
1:38
up so it actually features optical audio
1:41
input as well as 3.5 mm and RCA so it
1:45
has digital audio input these are digital speakers which is pretty cool
1:50
here we've got some little buttons so we got 3D mode oh I gave I gave away the
1:54
twist okay we'll talk more about 3D mode later don't look at that yet okay then
1:58
we've got the remote control to switch between 3D and music a we're talking
2:01
about 3D again okay music mode is for High Fidelity music and 3D mode is for
2:06
3D techn okay for movies and games that's what they're saying okay we'll
2:09
talk about it more later more later here let's start getting this opened up
2:14
cameraman can go amuse himself by looking at that while I break the seals
2:19
on this side of the box and get closer to the actual meat
2:25
and potatoes of this unboxing that is
2:28
the part where we remov the Box cameraman says stop
2:32
talking did I break it oh no it's
2:38
okay that was close okay guys so when
2:41
you are opening the rockus be very careful uh we appreciate very much sound
2:47
science's method of packing the rockus
2:50
with styr nice thick styrofoam so when you drop your subwoofer by accident it
2:55
will actually land on a perfectly shaped piece of Styrofoam that will prevent it
3:00
from being damaged so the first thing we find inside the box is the subwoofer
3:06
itself so we're going to go ahead and open this guy
3:10
up there we are oh no we got another
3:14
there we are so it has a pretty typical
3:18
sort of speaker finish on it that is it's very matte black actually feels
3:22
quite nice and looks very very durable okay just going to flip this
3:28
over so you guys can see it better so it's not a very huge subwoofer by any
3:33
stretch of the imagination and it looks like it actually has a little
3:36
instruction sheet attached to it how to use the sound science rocket speaker
3:40
system so it shows you how to turn it on how to uh do some troubleshooting Stuff
3:45
how to connect the uh an optical device okay here it comes with okay so there's
3:50
a connector for the uh control pod okay
3:53
so you'll plug that in here uh you've also got uh a three position switch for
3:59
base level there's your digital optical audio input
4:03
sorry about that guys then we've got our analog connectors both RCA as well as
4:08
3.5 auxiliary then we have our connectors to the speaker so it looks
4:13
like we're using standard speaker wire but there's only one way to find out for sure and then we've got an onoff switch
4:18
as well as a power cord that is a built-in power cord so then let's have a
4:22
look at what we've got in terms of accessories so here we have RCA cables
4:27
so those are RCA to speaker wire cables
4:34
really okay okay well we'll have a closer look at that in a minute okay
4:37
then we have RCA to headphone jack okay
4:42
next we have just headphone jack to headphone jack so this is the one that you're likely to use to connect to your
4:46
PC okay then we have the satellite speakers
4:51
themselves so we're just going to take out one of them to show you
4:56
guys actually we'll take that both okay
4:59
so there you go it comes with protective film on the front of the
5:03
speakers cuz they are quite shiny indeed
5:07
there we are very neat very different shape for
5:10
these speakers I haven't seen anything like that before
5:15
them very stylish looking okay so
5:19
there's the other one and then we've got our little
5:23
control pod so this is how we can switch to between 3D mode music mode okay we've
5:29
also got a volume control as well as a
5:32
mute control okay and it looks like that
5:38
is it for what is included inside the box so the speakers are connected to the
5:44
back of the subwoofer right here via
5:47
this cable so we actually use an RCA
5:52
connection at the back of the speakers themselves
5:55
see and then we use speaker wire to
5:59
connect into the subwoofer so you can see here we've
6:06
got sorry guys with big items it's
6:09
always challenging to do a a quick unboxing because here we
6:14
are aha there okay so here we've got
6:19
this labeled white so that'll go ahead and go into the oh really okay well I
6:24
guess there's no particular Rhyme or Reason to the labels so you just plug
6:28
these in and then you go ahead and plug them into wherever it is that you happen
6:32
to have them positioned so that can be the left one okay so that's our left
6:38
speaker and then we also have a right
6:42
speaker and that one will plug in like that and go into the other side instead
6:47
okay and then all you have to do is plug in your control
6:51
pod there we are make sure those are in there nice and good then you plug in
6:54
your control pod plug in your selected audio input turn it on and enjoy the
6:59
sound so the 3D mode I've actually seen a demo of it it is pretty cool the way
7:04
it works is it uses the subtle differences in timing of the delivery of
7:09
the sound to create a 3D sounding effect
7:12
out of two speakers so it's kind of similar to how some of the uh some of
7:16
the headphones that have virtual 3D modes work except this is a desktop
7:21
speaker that features that technology so
7:24
that's pretty much it for the rockus 3D thank you for checking out my
7:30
unboxing and don't forget to subscribe to lonus Tech tips I've actually got one
7:34
more thing these speakers are made of anodized aluminum and the subwoofer is
7:38
an active subwoofer with a passive radiator so there's no annoying fan
7:43
sound coming out of the
7:48
subwofer
