0:07 welcome to my unboxing and first look at the Netgear view Zone okay so I don't
0:12 know what the difference between wiress and wire free is but there are no wires
0:17 I think that is the point they're trying to make wirefree video monitoring system
0:22 place it anywhere view it anywhere includes this there's a there's a
0:27 variety of different kits but this particular one includes two motion
0:31 cameras one base station one outdoor shell and mount four wall mounts and the
0:37 batteries that you need to have them run at an estimated sort of 5 minutes per
0:41 day depending on when they turn on from motion sensing for up to 6 months at a
0:45 time place anywhere view any time okay I think we covered all of this already aha
0:49 here we go wirefree motion detection email alerts indoor use and outdoor use
0:54 are all supported let's go ahead and flip over to the side they give you some
0:57 examples of where you could mount it like to a tree or to a wall or to with
1:02 our Innovative wirefree cameras you'll avoid the hassle of running ugly power cords you'll spend more time deciding
1:06 where to put your cameras than you will setting them up so there's a chick with
1:10 a phone and she's presumably like something good to do with monitoring
1:15 security so she can see her property her family and her
1:20 pets H that's a white girl I mean I'm not
1:25 trying to you know be like that about it or anything but I don't think that's her kids they could be adopted okay so
1:31 moving right along we've got a few different options software wise you can
1:34 use the free option which gives you you know the camera well you bought the cameras so obviously you have those
1:39 motion detection with email alerts you can take a snapshot so no video okay
1:44 $4.95 a month to get video next we've got live video on your computer no big
1:48 deal camera supported 25 and 15 from the free to Premier to Elite options the
1:52 base station does support 15 cameras so the hardware is already there to support
1:57 the elite option location supported 1 one and three so you can monitor
2:00 multiple different locations digital pan and zoom you're going to have to pay for
2:04 that live video on your iPad iPhone or Android got to pay for that and look at
2:07 that you can securely record video to the cloud with the premier and the elite
2:12 service options it's compatible with both iOS and Android so that's a good
2:17 thing and we've also got some specifications down here as well so
2:21 check this out video resolution is 640x480 at 3 FPS okay uh qvga to 320x
2:27 240 at 7 FPS so we're not talking about you know taking beautiful HD photos
2:31 we're talking about like functional security motion sensing and you know
2:37 that kind of good stuff physical specifications okay let's open this bab
2:40 baby up and have a look at what we got going on in here so first thing we see
2:43 is a quick install guide followed by another quick install guide two quick
2:49 install guides because one quick install guide is not good enough for net gears
2:53 customers no no they will provide
2:56 multiple quick install Ah that's for the outdoor Mount and this is just sort of
3:00 in general what to do on sort of one page or less there you go what do they
3:06 say connect your viewone system to the internet okay install camera batteries
3:11 sync B sync cameras to the base station okay there you go hold within 12 in and
3:16 something something install cameras register your viewzone system and get the viewone mobile app that's it okay we
3:22 got a general public license sure whatever okay got a bag got some
3:29 environmentally friendly paper packaging very nice love to see that all right we
3:35 got some power adapters here so you can run these up the walls to the camera n
3:40 I'm just messing with you you don't have to do that you just plug this into the
3:43 base station which wirelessly communicates with up to 15 cameras so
3:47 you plug that guy into your router and I have no idea what that does guess we'll
3:52 find out hold on there we go power
3:55 connector okay it's not labeled either we'll be back in a moment so we didn't
4:00 figure it out but there's a highly amusing Amazon review of this thing that
4:03 basically it's a good review overall of the unit but it says that that you
4:07 manual and website make no mention of it they couldn't figure it out either so
4:11 there you go reset button there's your sync button up there as well as your
4:16 power internet view Zone status indicators and that's it that's the base
4:20 station it just basically looks like that plugs into the wall nothing that
4:24 complicated here we have some of the
4:27 forget what this battery standard's called CR a something or other it's a
4:31 3vt battery so presumably there are two cells inside there and these are for the
4:35 cameras themselves they're really cheap you can buy them in bulk on Deal extreme
4:39 I have a laser pointer that takes these batteries so I have tons of them at home
4:42 already anyway wall mounts so these are your drywall screws if you wanted to W
4:46 Mount to drywall here these are little base station little doodads so you just
4:51 kind of uh this must come off here
4:54 somehow oh adhesive surface there you go
4:57 so you just pull that off caution adhesive may damage surface or paint so
5:02 be careful maybe test it in a discreet location or what I sometimes do if I'm
5:05 going to stick it to something that I don't want to damage is I'll just kind of go like this on my shirt a little bit
5:09 first make it sticky enough to work but not sticky enough to take the paint
5:13 right off the wall when you're done so those are little mounting doodads and
5:17 they're magnetized see that so you just kind of put this wherever you want and
5:21 you put this guy on here and you can position it wherever you want so those
5:24 are those are the cameras they're not wide angle lenses so you do want to get
5:27 them nice and up high maybe in a corner if you want to capture an entire room
5:31 okay there you go it's got little rubber things here so you can not lose your
5:36 grip on them when you're putting them up presumably that's why okay there's your
5:39 motion sensor right there there's your lens right there
5:43 and there is your battery compartment
5:46 right presumably yeah there all right so throw
5:51 a couple batteries in there no big deal I like that they're nice and light and
5:55 compact I mean yeah it's only 3 FPS or you know whatever other complaints you
5:59 might have but at least it's small and Compact and you can easily scale it and
6:03 add more U more cameras to it should you
6:06 should you want oh that that opens it up okay I didn't realize that before so let
6:09 me power it on okay just like that all
6:12 right what else we got in here Ethernet cable for plugging in the base
6:18 station aha outdoor Mount very cool so
6:22 this guy right here is I guess what the screws are for well no different screws
6:26 for that so you can screw it into a tree or the side your house or whatever else
6:30 you want has a mount right here that is actually capable of rotating as much as
6:35 you or as little as you want you just use this guy right here to lock it in place there you go now it won't turn
6:40 very easily anymore once we go ahead and tighten this guy as well so there you go
6:44 point it wherever you want you just open it up with two screws here and here
6:49 throw the unit inside and it should be weatherproof they operate uh up to I
6:53 think -4° so for those of you who live in
6:58 Toronto sorry it never goes under-14
7:01 here um yeah it's probably fine especially if you keep it close enough
7:04 to your house that it's getting some incidental heat off of there and I mean
7:08 besides the batteries wearing out faster I can't imagine there's anything in here that would be particularly damaged by
7:12 the cold weather but feel free to let me know if I'm wrong includes a screwdriver
7:16 actually for for this so includes pretty
7:19 much everything you need right out of the box there you go that's everything
7:23 so you got your two cameras and you can buy more you got all your mounting
7:26 screws you've got I mean this is cool so it includes extra of these so you could
7:30 potentially move them around if you want you could have these permanently fixed
7:33 in places that are convenient and you can attach one of them Outdoors should
7:37 you desire to do so thank you for checking out my unboxing of the view
