0:00 happy april fool's day but here on techlink we're not fooling around the
0:04 tech news we're talking about today is real
0:08 or is it it is
0:14 as is tradition tech companies celebrated the day by announcing
0:17 imaginary products you might expect to see in a black mirror episode NVIDIA's
0:21 offering is a holographic desktop gaming assistant named ron or ran that channels
0:28 your anger into supportive messages for your team and even provides ai-generated
0:32 comebacks to trolls troll destroyer
0:38 he'll automatically link all the relevant facts and he never has to eat
0:42 sleep or bathe making him an equal match for your average online troll meanwhile
0:47 oneplus announced a 3d printable car powered by 20 ordinary phone chargers
0:52 that you drive with an app sega teased us with a sonic themed battle royale
0:56 game featuring 4 million characters which actually seems somewhat realistic
1:01 and sounds like a game i would want to play and google even promised us an
1:04 automatic screen cleaner for mobile gadgets but one piece of april fool's
1:08 frivolity you can actually enjoy there's a travel themed snake game on google
1:13 maps you can check out after you're done watching me flap my gums that's it
1:18 that's how you know john wrote this script
1:21 i'm just flapping my gums we've already known for a while that Intel is planning
1:25 to release its own discrete GPU but we've just gotten some new information
1:29 on what to expect from leaks of an internal Intel event the plans describe
1:34 cards that feature multiple gpus as part of Intel's xe lineup with the e being
1:39 replaced by the number of gpus in that specific model so a dual GPU card would
1:44 be designated x with a little two and so
1:47 on i mean it's not accurate by standard notation
1:51 guidelines but okay whatever while the first card we get is expected to have
1:55 two gpus we could see an eight GPU skew
1:59 by 2023 that's a little much the dual
2:02 GPU card will reportedly feature 32 gigabytes of crosspoint video memory
2:07 over 6 000 stream processors per GPU
2:10 and 8 terabytes of bandwidth for 699 dollars when it hits the market in june
2:15 2020. wow uh considering the card is supposed to be flagshipped here the
2:20 pricing seems relatively competitive which is sad to think about seven
2:25 hundred dollars is affordable as long as it's RGB i'm in hell yeah dude can i say
2:30 hell yeah and Intel's new gpus are no doubt
2:33 getting a boost from the company's new hire tom peterson
2:38 i think it's pete thomason right sorry pete thomason not to be confused with
2:43 the tom peterson from cheap trick is that a band do you know what that is get
2:46 better references john peterson has been a fixture at NVIDIA since 2015 where he
2:51 was a top engineer and the director of technical marketing for team green's
2:55 GeForce lineup Intel brought peterson on to join their game experience team which
2:59 probably means that he'll be involved in helping get Intel's new discrete gpus to
3:03 market next year this move isn't the first notable addition to Intel's
3:07 fledgling discrete graphics team however as team blue also hired chris hooke a
3:12 former marketing director at AMD and rival of peter pan that guy was born to
3:17 be in marketing chris hook hey i got a hook for you
3:22 now it's time for quick bits brought to you today by seasonic a leader in

3:51 long ago it was
3:55 time for quick bits it wasn't long ago that the impossible
3:59 burger was a hard to find luxury item but that looks to be changing in an
4:03 announcement today that wasn't an april fool's prank burger king launched the
4:07 impossible whopper aka
4:11 the impassa whopper
4:15 it'll show up in several dozen restaurants around the st louis area
4:19 following impossible's partnership with white castle back in january it's good
4:22 news but i hope impossible burger is noticing that the wider their
4:25 availability spreads the less sense their name makes
4:30 it's obviously possible once i don't like you today gmail is
4:34 getting a very welcome feature that lets you schedule emails to be sent in the
4:38 future if you don't feel like lighting up someone's inbox of weird times
4:42 although you can accomplish this with third-party browser extensions it's
4:45 always nice to see a cleaner native solution i'm going to be using it all
4:49 the time to deliver positive messages to my co-workers right when they walk into
4:53 the office about how they could make me look better on camera
4:57 wow john wrote that but it's true i'm very selfish although we mentioned a
5:02 notable Intel higher earlier folks farther down the food chain at the
5:05 company are getting hit with layoffs particularly in it administration
5:10 interestingly the layoffs don't seem to be about cost cutting but rather a
5:13 restructuring as Intel reportedly is attempting to shift to having more of
5:17 its operation in-house rather than handled by external contractors
5:21 seems like for that scenario you'd need more people at your company not less but
5:26 what do i know it's all relative yeah who am i tom peterson if you're
5:30 interested in snagging a cut-rate pixel 2 you'll have to look to a reseller as
5:34 google has just stopped selling the devices although the pixel 2 has only
5:38 been on the market for about a year and a half it isn't super surprising as
5:41 google is trying to get people to buy the shiny new pixel 3 instead personally
5:45 i don't keep any new phone for more than two months before getting the latest
5:49 thing i can otherwise my self-esteem starts to suffer
5:53 you look less valuable and here's a reminder that even
5:57 celebrities are susceptible to phishing scams as an american man recently pled
6:01 guilty to charges stemming from a string of incidents in which he scammed
6:05 entertainers and athletes out of their apple credentials accessing private
6:09 information and stealing money it's unclear how much time he'll be looking
6:13 at but maybe he can use his skills to sweet talk the prison commissary out of
6:17 a few extra bags of doritos that's what i'm talking about well
6:21 that's it for today guys there's no more words in front of the camera for me to
6:24 read so come back wednesday where will sweet talk you
6:27 into watching more tech news hopefully we don't have to sweet talk
6:31 you hopefully it's entertaining enough
6:37 sweet sweet sweet sweet sweets tend to see you later
6:43 that was so nonsensical you know
