0:01 is the camera supposed to be that zoomed out so stay here and wait and yeah is
0:05 the camera supposed to be that zoomed out we seem super far away welcome to
0:08 the Bro show the Bro show yeah so
0:12 hopefully the audio is not terrible I'm going to wait hopefully someone will
0:15 tell me if it's horrible one of the cool things that you might have seen or might
0:18 not have seen is that I'm mobile I can just like go around we have chairs that
0:24 have rly things which basically makes this work it's perfect I love you guys
0:29 Welcome to the intro it's not
0:32 working all right intro intro
0:38 intro intro yes success audio is out of sync awesome
0:46 that's good all
0:58 right linda.com Linda learn all the things
1:04 about all the stuff it's squarespace.com make all the things about the websites
1:09 and stuff actually linda.com is great you can learn a whole bunch of different
1:13 stuff and squarespace.com is great you can make a whole bunch of different websites using their templ things caning
1:19 back here now I can even tell the audio is out of sync here well wow there's
1:24 lency just say what you were going to say and then mou it afterwards so hey
1:29 hey this is a good
1:37 show so the the video is out of sync still I don't know dude turn up the
1:42 volume I can do that the the video is delayed
1:48 here so I think it's the capture card or
1:52 something Co I don't know out super out
1:56 of syn I'm just hanging out while everyone freaks out I want to run
2:01 away okay so I don't know why is there there's no delays set
2:06 up on anything so that's not
2:13 good that's probably a good idea did all the camera people just leave they did
2:18 when we're having camera problems yep that's what camera people
2:22 do they just leave you when you need them you just can't trust them okay well
2:31 I don't know turn vsync on always the problem I wish wouldn't
2:38 that be
2:41 great delay the audio track that's not a
2:45 bad idea but I don't know how delayed the video track is um want to make a
2:50 guess three three milliseconds that's
2:53 really fast maybe more milliseconds 30 30 milliseconds okay
2:58 that seems like a lot
3:02 okay let's try 20 that's the wrong keyboard let's try
3:08 20 20
3:12 okay uh wasn't the audio already delayed
3:15 though so delaying it wouldn't that increase the issue or
3:19 we no I think the video is delayed I think the audio is on time I think the
3:23 video is delayed so if we delay the audio then they should mesh up gotcha
3:27 how's it how's it working guys
3:31 did that not work at all 300
3:36 Wow audio delay
3:41 300 that seems huge but we're now trying 300 where's
3:48 Justin isn't Justin our official stream Watcher talk to me about the things it's
3:54 pretty okay um so I think
3:58 maybe
4:01 I just tried 300 I don't really work in milliseconds some people are saying a
4:05 little bit more so maybe I'll try 400 400 yeah 400 okay 400 thanks for working
4:10 with me on this twitch chat we're basically diagnosing everything together
4:14 so instead of watching Tech tips what you guys can actually do is just tune in
4:18 to the WAN Show and then you can learn your own Tech tips from like helping us
4:23 fix things cuz we we're crowdsourcing the the fixes this is Kickstarter but
4:29 live and don't have to donate exactly it's crowdsourced uh Tech tips so we
4:35 just went to 400 so let me know what you guys think
4:39 of that Justin I'd like some input from you as well we need we need help from
4:44 internal sources and external sources to optimize the throughput of our audio and
4:49 video 500 500
4:55 okay 500 500 we've got 500 here we're
4:59 going to try 500 people are saying 420 but I de 420 YOLO 360 I was going to say
5:04 if lonus was here it' be he'd put it at 420 that's something he would do I put
5:07 it 500
5:12 no some guy said 9,000 that would probably work over 9,000 would probably
5:18 work 9,000 is kind of you're trying but you're not fully
5:22 there yeah if I had like I was going to
5:25 say a super nice car I would price it at $9,001 and I was like that's not a super
5:29 nice car that's no your cars like double
5:33 that 550 to 600 oh Lord just off okay
5:38 okay we're going to we're going to change it to 600 we just going keep jumping in
5:43 hundreds and then we can dial it back a little bit we're getting there boys we're now at 600 thank you guys for
5:47 sticking with us this is uh this has been fun this has been good it's been an
5:52 experience the cool part was that when I had to do the sponsor spots the image
5:57 was up so it doesn't even matter if the audio was
6:00 say just do the whole thing like this and then we're Flawless because except
6:05 if I like laugh and do that that's true and you'd know it's fun watching a delay
6:10 it is fun watching the delay I did that while we were spinning in our chairs you guys can't see that I'm sorry it's it's
6:14 pretty fun it's too much pull it back is that right Justin too
6:20 much we're gonna we're gonna wait for some input from Justin but I'm thinking
6:25 580 might be where we need to go way too much less than
6:32 500 550 550 550 you're slightly ahead
6:36 now 550 going crazy okay we're getting
6:39 it narrowed in all right we will get there cool by 6 we will by by six o'
6:45 yeah we're only half an hour late because of misplaced equipment and then
6:48 we're going to be an hour late after that because of equipment not working
6:52 well so there we go I want to run away so topics that we
6:59 have um Netflix is going to be dropping thousands of titles um unified weapons
7:05 Master they're going to have a Hightech gladiatorial combat you can't really see
7:08 what I'm saying right now I feel like that dude from Tool Time yes who's
7:13 standing behind the fence KS over the fence think have to
7:18 go 75 or SC when I was listening to it
7:22 it six so over try 650 700 maybe yeah
7:28 that's a lot of delay dude of those milliseconds you guys yeah pretty off
7:33 when you first started okay go check it again um we also have the introduction
7:38 of gddr5x um apparently gddr5x Wan although
7:45 I'm pretty sure that was just me typing that in properly um then after that we
7:49 have new federal requirements on cell phone surveillance so that should be
7:52 pretty cool I have to be very animated with my eyes because you can't see my
7:56 mouth no okay moving moving forward I
8:00 need to I need to move down to one of my topics so give me a second here I just
8:04 need to keep talking like this because then you can't really feel the delay actually I should show Justin the delay
8:09 that would probably help him try to figure that out so I'm actually go
8:13 through my first topic we're just going to try to live troubleshoot this with
8:16 Justin in the other room while we go so yes Netflix is dropping thousands of
8:20 titles apparently they're not renewing their deal with distributor epics so
8:24 basically how Netflix gets all their titles is they have to have a deal with
8:27 the distributor of these videos who would also distribute them to different
8:31 like uh cable companies and whatnot so that you could do like video on demand
8:35 um Netflix's deal with epics was reportedly worth about a billion dollars
8:39 that's pretty obscene um was reportedly worth about a
8:43 billion dollars uh it will run until the end of September 2015 so yeah you don't
8:49 have much time at all if you want to watch some of these movies and stuff uh
8:53 Chief content officer Ted Sandos hopefully I'm saying that correctly said
8:57 while many of these movies are popular they're also widely available on cable
9:01 and other subscription platforms at the same time they are as Netflix and
9:05 subject to the same drawn out licensing
9:12 periods add 30000 you're at 700 it's like a 50%
9:18 increase 650 so as we're talking about Netflix
9:22 they're trying to move to more of their own original content which is kind of
9:26 super hard to blame them because the original content is doing extremely well
9:29 really really well I loved House of Cards House of Cards was awesome
9:32 Daredevil was really cool have you watched Daredevil I haven't watched the entirety I think I've watched about 34s
9:36 yeah yeah there's a few like I I felt there's a couple actors in Daredevil
9:40 which weren't like super amazing but the show overall was actually really good
9:44 yeah um but yeah they're going to be moving towards a more their content
9:49 focused platform which isn't the reason why I got Netflix but might make me keep
9:56 Netflix so I don't know I know very little about Hulu but Hulu is picking up
10:01 the deal that Netflix is going to be leaving behind so they're trying to kind of push their way into that that void of
10:06 you're saying the reason why you got Netflix maybe that'll pull more people towards Hulu I know Hulu is not quite as
10:11 successful as Netflix um keep keep but yeah they're
10:15 going to be picking up all those shows that you're going to be losing from
10:18 Netflix so if you really want those shows if that's a problem for you Hulu
10:21 could be an answer um haven't heard too many great things about Hulu to be
10:25 completely honest but Netflix is definitely the kind of kingpins but
10:28 again they have so many of their own original shows and they're going to keep it Rolling Orange is the New Black
10:32 wasn't a good show for me but it was extremely highly rated uh people really
10:36 like that show I liked season one I wasn't super into the season two or
10:40 three season two I was like all right they're bridging into something all
10:43 right cool and then season three I was like yeah kind of fall House of Cards c
10:48 yeah that's true season one and two were just Gang Busters and three kind of fell
10:52 off a little but uh anyways that's Netflix for you I I kind of expect if
10:57 they keep doing this there's going to be more rampant piracy again uh cuz for a
11:02 long time there it was like how is everyone watching whatever show download
11:06 on Pirate Bay and now it's kind of the same deal obviously but also with a huge
11:11 amount of it gone to Netflix and I think yeah I think that might stop because yes
11:17 Netflix is doing a huge amount of original series but the people that just
11:20 kind of watch Netflix all the time are going to run out of original series
11:23 stuff really fast and they're probably hanging around for that mass expanse of
11:27 other stuff
11:31 1200 okay it could be like
11:38 time also you anything that Ash
11:42 sing no it's a game right okay yeah yeah okay
11:50 tax was awesome so chat chat if it's wrong it's at 1200 now so you guys might
11:56 suck it is at 1200 now yeah so we'll see
11:59 how that works sorry guys the cancer was spreading through chat 1200 1200 yes
12:03 well we'll we'll see if they're right someone might have been trying to time it or something I can clap for
12:09 everybody there's your clap I tried to like line it up so you could see my
12:13 hands well and stuff anyways uh we will
12:17 keep moving on we'll try to do all the main topics
12:21 so unified weapons Masters high-tech gladiatorial combat yeah so this is
12:26 pretty much probably as sick as it sounds if I can find the topic contrl F
12:31 glad third page top of the third found it contrl f is my hero looks really cool
12:37 the suits are designed uh really well I
12:40 guess you could say from the video I watched they look great uh fighting and
12:44 basically what the idea is you can do melee combat with different types of
12:47 weapons the suits will protect you and the biggest part of the suits is
12:50 actually they give you a reading of what the blow would be and basically gives
12:54 you health points and you would lose Health points uh by taking strikes in
12:58 different areas is but there is such things as you know a one hit kill like
13:01 something to the throat or something like that but maybe if you just kick the
13:05 guy in the side he'll take a you know x amount of damage um it looks really
13:09 interesting kind of combining the oldest form of fighting with the newest
13:14 technology um a really interesting blend they've got going it's actually pretty
13:17 freaking cool what I liked at the beginning of this video was just them
13:20 showing what's up down
13:25 1700 is the number you should be at I thought I was at 2
13:29 okay we did 1200 I thought 1 1200 mind
13:36 1700 that's a lot of
13:40 milliseconds okay all
13:43 right uh anyways you guys just saw that again probably hopefully so what's
13:49 really cool is they're they're fighting those are probably foam because that
13:53 makes sense but they're they're fighting and you can just record the data
13:56 afterwards if you have someone sitting on the sidelines I'm sure they could tell you when things happen so if you
14:00 get a throat shot like you were talking about he could end the match he could do whatever you want um really cool
14:06 apparently when are they starting their first uh actual like matches I think
14:10 they were trying for the end I tried to find the dock here I think they were trying for the end of this year probably
14:15 beginning of next year I think is what they're saying first live combat event in 2016 okay there do so that's pretty
14:21 cool that'll be exciting to watch I kind of H
14:24 hope I don't know they're probably foam weapons but I kind of hope that they
14:28 don't they said that they're going to be real weapons like the suits are made to
14:32 protect you um and you can see at one point if you watch the whole video the
14:35 guy is completely losing like he's losing his health points are going down
14:38 I think he's got 30% the other guy's at 100 30% guy wins he gets a strike
14:42 through to the throat and they pause it and you can see the sword hit and bend
14:46 and flex with the pressure so it might not be foam and might not be steel but
14:50 it could be something well it could be that fencing yeah it could just be
14:54 really thin kind of but I think their goal is to really really get physical
14:58 with it that you see guys hitting pretty hard and uh the armor is you know
15:02 supposed to protect you kind of deal so really interesting stuff um I know
15:05 they've been trying to work on this for a while and it could be a lot of fun I think the big thing right out of the
15:09 gate would be the price I think it'd be extremely limited just due to the insane
15:13 cost well if if they're doing a live combat event it sounds kind of like
15:17 they're probably going to plan it more around UFC style stuff oh yeah so not
15:21 like a laser tag at your local thing but more like non named Fighters going into
15:26 gladiatorial style combat so yeah it'll proba be expensive but I'm sure they'll
15:30 probably be the only ones actually using the full body suits apparently they use
15:34 a combination of I'm going to say this wrong but a combination of pis eletric
15:38 shock and vibration sensors and accelerometers to measure uh not only
15:42 where the hit lands but the severity as well so so if I strike and I just kind
15:47 of Nick his ARM barely that's probably not going to take off that many hit
15:51 points but if I strike and I hit the same part but then kind of dig in when I
15:55 do so it might do a lot more in terms of damage I'm not entirely sure but throw
16:00 everything they're throwing elbows and kicks and they're tripping each other
16:04 and yeah they're it's uh it's that's
16:07 super cool apparently the data collected by the suit will be beamed wirelessly to
16:11 a special ringside computer system like I was mentioning earlier which will keep
16:15 the score so that's essentially probably going to be health health points oh yeah
16:19 they show the little bars it's very video gamees uh in that video check that
16:23 out jump back so I I linked in the chat
16:27 the the video so that you watch but I'm going to jump back here right now so you
16:31 can actually see the health on the bottom so that guy just hit 0% and lost
16:35 um I'll jump back a little bit more so you can see that again at a different
16:39 point they also say what these guys are trained and these guys um some of them
16:42 are ninjitsu some guys are doing karate but all sorts of different martial art
16:46 backgrounds for these guys um but yeah
16:49 it looks it looks pretty cool they have some really great engagements yeah he
16:53 got the ninja brilley see nice kick there right to the midsection actually
16:57 did a good amount you can see their BPM
17:00 uh you can see what kgf I'm not entirely
17:03 sure what that is but um probably like
17:06 armor or health or something I'm not sure but it's cool how much data they
17:09 have on these guys pretty sick pretty sick what's up
17:12 Justin it's still app I am yes he's
17:18 definitely hitting apply I can vouch for it yeah I was I was worried about that
17:22 actually I am I am hitting apply it's on 1700 definitely applied try try 2000
17:29 it's it's 2 it's still off but at this point like I'm not even I think I'm
17:34 going crazy because I'm not even sure like what we're doing is actually making
17:37 a difference yeah okay it's now on 2K 2K
17:41 2K like uh 2K Games did anyone get that reference can we sell it for another $50
17:45 now maybe probably maybe I think they came out I could be wrong with this but
17:49 they came out with an NBA game it was like $70 on Steam really yeah 2K NBA was
17:54 70 I'm excited to play Mad Max speaking of excited to play video games and
17:58 possibly Mad Max I'm going to do a Shameless plug here because I think it's
18:02 okay because it's for charity tomorrow Saturday not entirely sure when I'm
18:06 going to start maybe before noon is the time I'm giving right now I'm going to
18:10 be starting a 24-hour charity stream for extra life I've been tweeting that out a
18:14 little bit over the last bit um so yeah come by hang out maybe donate maybe
18:19 don't just tell your friends do something I'm going to be playing games for a super long time and hopefully
18:23 we'll make money for extra life I did a charity stream a bit over a year ago I
18:29 think and my memor is failing me and my Twitter didn't go back far enough but I
18:34 think we made about 3200 so the goal
18:37 this year is 5K which is insane we might not get it but I think it would be
18:42 pretty cool it was extremely successful last time it was yeah three 3K
18:49 holy yeah okay general settings audio
18:54 should just set to like 10,000 and see if it's actually making a difference
18:57 like bad idea okay there we go y
19:04 3,000 sorry it's okay we'll see what
19:07 happens I guess yeah I guess we will see
19:10 okay moving on that was actually pretty freaking cool moving on new federal
19:14 requirements on cell phone surveillance so federal law enforcement have
19:18 routinely been required to obtain a search warrant before using secretive
19:22 and intrusive cell phone tracking Technologies um but and something like
19:27 the stingray which is a suitcase Siz device sweeps up basic cell phone data
19:32 from a neighborhood which can trick phones to connecting to it so basically
19:35 even if you're not making calls or texting people or whatever your phone is
19:38 always connecting to things so if the stingray can make your phone connect to
19:42 it they can find your phone which is probably in your pocket so they can find
19:46 you um now I didn't have a ton of time
19:49 to actually read this because I was busy with all the things like finding capture
19:54 cards I have read stuff about the stringray previously um to today they've
19:58 been using a lot in the states with the whole different Ferguson issues and
20:01 there's a lot of things going on uh in the states with kind of police versus
20:05 citizens and there's a lot of tension there um and apparently the stingray has
20:08 been used quite a bit uh in all sorts of place they can rip your calls they can
20:13 take your texts all these kind of things I've been reading uh from different news
20:16 outlets so there definitely needs to be something uh to manage this and I think
20:21 this is at least a great first step because it does appear um especially on
20:25 kind of some of the alternative news outlets that talk about these different protests that they're using these things
20:29 extremely widespread there's no control over it um they're just popping them up
20:33 whenever and however they wish to um so any control would be fantastic as
20:38 privacy is a bigger and bigger issue with our wireless yes Tech these days
20:42 and basically what's happening is the new policy requires a warrant in most
20:45 cases except for immediate security so uh immediate threats sorry so basically
20:50 immediate emergencies there we go I can talk like National Security threats
20:55 although I don't think that's properly defined um um authorities will need to
20:59 delete data that's been collected once they have the info that they need and
21:03 the American civil liberties Union has said that the policy is a good first
21:06 step um called on the justice department to close remaining loopholes such as one
21:11 allowing for warrantless surveillance under undefined exceptional
21:16 circumstances so it's kind of what I was mentioning earlier terminology yeah yeah
21:21 exceptional circumstances what does that mean to me nothing not having Jam to go
21:27 on my peanut butter and jam sandwich can sometimes be an exceptional circumstance
21:30 I can be pretty distraught about that because just having the peanut butter
21:35 makes it so that your mouth just gets all n yep you need the jam to smooth
21:39 things out exactly so that's not a good thing and it might be helpful if I could
21:45 use a surveillance device to find a store where I could buy the jam yeah
21:50 exactly I think that would be okay um anyways or Amazon's 1 hour delivery like
21:56 you could just one hour deliver ridiculous this Jam to yourself I'm
21:59 going to check how the audio delay is doing right now
22:05 uh 100,000 from BR gamer yeah he might
22:08 be on to something yeah so apparently not good someone just yelled
22:14 audio do another one of those see if it helps Anything Audio is
22:19 still ahead audio is
22:26 ahead was there any words on
22:37 that you CH the
22:40 delay it's not happening I am clicking apply like it's
22:44 it's maybe restart
22:49 that oh God God don't start oh God I see
22:56 nothing oh God I never see things not supposed to see oh
23:02 God do you want to go try again check it now Justin go go try that uh uh just
23:09 just go uh uh anyways moving on to more
23:15 topics I can feel my face getting redder
23:19 mine is I'm pretty sure you can see mine is redder oh my goodness that was bad so
23:23 to explain what just happened I was trying to be quick and try to keep
23:26 talking to you guys and what did was I was adding audio delay to my system
23:30 speakers it's perfect instead of instead
23:34 of adding audio delay to the microphone oh my God so what I was hearing was
23:38 being audio delayed by 3,000 milliseconds and what I was saying was
23:44 being audio delayed by nothing so now what I'm saying is being audio delayed
23:49 by 550 milliseconds and is apparently
23:52 perfect so sweet my face is definitely
23:55 full of blood right now and and I feel very embarrassed and I kind of want to
24:01 run away but I'm going to keep doing the W show because I love you guys and I
24:06 want it to go well oh man I quit my bad
24:11 let's just change it by 3,000 let's just you know that's like 3 seconds I think
24:15 why is it doing
24:18 anything okay wow yeah my like cheeks
24:21 hurt anyways moving on uh introducing
24:26 gddr5x yes higher density and faster
24:29 data rates so basically uh up until now
24:32 4 Gigabyte modules were the highest density available for
24:35 gddr5 um now they can make 8 Gigabyte
24:39 dense modules which is actually pretty badass cuz that's doubling the capacity
24:43 which is actually fairly intense Micron hinted that the uh that 8 gabit per
24:49 second gdr 5 modules are in production so that's uh 1 gbit per second faster
24:53 than the previous highest which was seven that being said people were over
24:57 clocking and stuff but this means you could overclock even more even more yeah
25:01 exactly that's good um they see 8 GB per
25:05 second the absolute Peak for the gddr5 kind of platform in its current form but
25:10 that's not super surprising because I think a lot of people are expecting the
25:14 future to be AMD's angle which is the stacking of stuff so this is probably
25:20 good if say NVIDIA isn't going to move to hbm hybrid uh hybrid HB hybrid module
25:28 something I don't know whatever the the stacking memory from AMD if they're not
25:32 going to do go that route because usually the companies don't really like
25:35 copying each other this will give them some more time to figure something out
25:38 but I do expect everything is going to be stacking like crazy stacks on stacks
25:42 on stacks on your graphic card Stacks soon enough so this is cool this is good
25:48 uh personally I think stacking is still going to kind of be high performance
25:53 memory what high bandwidth there we go
25:56 they also mentioned that the actual could be smaller while maining this
26:00 power which is a big deal because in a lot of the smaller builds we're seeing
26:03 these days the graphics card is the huge piece that's kind of somewhat of a
26:08 problem right yeah and like people have been addressing that lately and that's been pretty cool because back in what
26:13 was it 600 series uh or 700 series I
26:18 don't remember what card it was but lonus and I made so many jokes because
26:21 of the the penis extension of the card which was basically the PCB ended and
26:26 then they just put on like an extra plastic shroud to make it longer cuz
26:29 they were like well short cards look stupid and dumb not true anymore a lot
26:34 of people are going for short cards cuz they're going for little ITX systems um
26:38 you only sometimes need two sticks of RAM because the high capacity RAM can
26:41 get you a ton of memory get huge capacity RAM sticks you can get a badass
26:46 graphics card which is nice and short and you can make this little tiny
26:50 awesome system of epicness you're not taking any big losses going with the
26:54 tiny little builds as you would have in the past yes you know you're getting a
26:58 lot of the same things if not better yeah in a in a smaller and especially
27:02 for guys like us a more landable case yeah no that's a huge thing I saw a
27:06 bunch of we were just at this is my brother for the people that didn't get that earlier in the Stream we were just
27:11 at the yes broch show Welcome to the Bro show um we were just at the by bring
27:16 your own computer L at PAX Prime 2015 Y
27:20 and there was yeah there's a bunch of little tiny systems one of my favorite
27:23 things about lands is you get the combination of like the person who made
27:26 a computer into a Team Fortress 2 turret which was moving that awesome um you get
27:31 the the guy who made a computer into a suitcase that had a monitor in it and
27:35 then you have like the computer that probably got its case from like
27:41 1998 and has had like random hand me-
27:45 down part upgrades ever since then and he's just still landing and he's fine
27:50 and he's judging along you you've got all the different variances and I think
27:54 that's pretty cool but this will allow people to do cool little tiny builds and
27:58 that's awesome well this will help allow people to do that yes absolutely
28:02 definitely not the only component and AMD is doing their own stuff as well so
28:05 I can't I can't take them down a notch this is this is just a good thing it
28:09 also helps with SLI or Crossfire um you
28:12 know because your RAM is definitely Limited in that situation so yeah because it doesn't it doesn't it's not
28:16 additive yeah which is cool so you can get a bunch more memory and then two
28:20 cars that are the same and then you have a bunch more memory and everyone wants
28:23 more screens these days you know it'll help you those guys who want triple screens I'm not there yet still rocking
28:29 to but uh I'm trying to get more trying to get more I have two at home and I
28:32 have three at work and I want like five at work and I want like maybe more than
28:37 five at home who's got the overhead display um Barnacles Barn yes bar I want
28:43 one of those two not nearly as big as his his his like all that's all TVs and
28:47 they're giant I don't necessarily want that I want a monitor on a tilt down
28:52 though and I want like small auxiliary monitors for Server monitoring and stuff
28:56 I want to be able to like play and mine up here and like play Hearthstone here
28:59 and World of Tanks here and monitor the Forum here and monitor a server up there
29:03 and just all the things I want to feel like I'm in like people say like oh
29:08 Reddit Battle Stations or whatever I want to legitimately be able to have a
29:11 battle station nice I want to have like my racing wheel set up and my joystick
29:15 and throttle set up and like a bajillion and a half monitors and keyboard and
29:20 mouse and a controller and just be like I can do everything that's that's what I
29:26 want anyways to be racing have voice controls forar and voice controls for
29:31 Eve yeah just keep it going at the same
29:34 time your battlecry on enemy card 4
29:38 thank you also mine that rock and uh and
29:42 I need to drive a tank although I probably can't do that by voice anyways
29:46 um let me find another topic Wikipedia
29:49 editors turn to Blackmail this
29:53 is kind of horrible because you know what I actually really like like
29:57 Wikipedia Wikipedia is super badass and has if you've gone to school in the last
30:01 decade you like Wikipedia Wikipedia has gotten so many people through their
30:05 degrees so a lot of people owe like their entire degree to Wikipedia which
30:09 is pretty cool but editors at Wikipedia have allegedly started contacting small
30:14 businesses and lesser-known celebrities telling them that they need to pay up or
30:18 have their entries edited to Oblivion Oblivion that's just that's Petty and
30:24 that's garbage um as for hundreds of pounds so this was uh posted probably
30:30 not on a North American website it's fudzilla decom so I don't know but
30:34 hundreds of pounds as in monies um I'm going to post this in the twitch chat so
30:38 you guys can see what we're talking
30:45 about and then I'm going to switch to my screen there we go I make the computer
30:49 noises so that you don't have to assume that they're there the stream PC is not
30:53 doing things there we go hooray uh um yeah so
30:59 apparently this guy got edited to God
31:03 which is not a thing anyways long article I need to get back to my sheet
31:07 so we're not actually going to look at that H tricked um they offered their
31:14 powers as editors to keep the page up if the fee is met so basically uh if you
31:19 want your Wikipedia page up sometimes if
31:22 if if what you're trying to talk about isn't like worth talking about if you're
31:28 like my name is Fred and I'm in grade
31:31 four and I really like apples I don't think you really get a Wikipedia page um
31:36 so healthy choice Fred Yes actually apples good good move apple a day keeps
31:41 something away I don't remember dentist doctor I don't know either way um so
31:46 basically I think they're they're claiming that they can help you keep it up alleged offenders will contact the
31:51 person or business on behalf of Wikipedia uh soon after their page is
31:55 created Wikipedia has started stated that this is a coordinated Group
32:00 which is not better no um also they have
32:04 since purged 381 sock puppet accounts
32:07 and 210 articles created by them I'm not entirely sure what sock puppet means um
32:14 but judging by sock puet assuming it's a
32:17 um an account that those guys will use to screw around with things that don't
32:21 look like that throwaway account yeah uh Wikipedia Foundation blog post stated uh
32:27 neutrality is key to ensuring Wikipedia's quality although it does not
32:31 happen often undisclosed paid advocacy
32:34 editing may represent a serious conflict of interest it it would and could
32:39 compromise the quality of content on Wikipedia it it would yeah absolutely
32:42 and it probably has at this point so hopefully they they deal with that
32:46 because Wikipedia is awesome and I wouldn't that I wouldn't want that to become an actual problem in the future
32:53 um evj will soon be entering the Enthusiast gaming notebook Market this
32:57 is not that surprising uh every every kind of once every few years evj will be
33:04 like here's another product line Y and they seem to do pretty well in all of
33:08 them so that's pretty cool notebook will be capable of heavy overclocking so
33:12 that's interesting we'll see notebooks traditionally not usually that great
33:17 some of them have been pretty good actually I know if you guys that have gotten some pretty impressive overclocks
33:22 on notebooks and had them not throttle so that's interesting but we we'll see
33:26 if they shapable of heavy overclocking we will see featuring the new Skylake
33:30 mobile mobile mobile mobile CPU uh 17-in
33:34 thin gaming notebook with very high-end
33:37 Hardware they said Skylake so probably really high-end mobile cards as well I
33:42 would assume plan to launch late 2015 or early 2016 100% evj design from the
33:47 ground up which is also not surprising uh speculated that the ker mobile skew
33:52 will be included so kseries um processors but that has not yet been
33:57 confirmed although if they're saying like this is going to be overclockable heavy overclocking very high-end
34:03 Hardware it's probably going to have that K yeah if it does use a K series
34:08 chip it will feature four cores eight total threads stock clock of 3.2 GHz
34:13 with a 3.6 GHz turbo and 45 wat TDP
34:17 those numbers are just insane if you got into computers when I did or earlier
34:21 yeah like that's just absurd all of those things the amount of threads the
34:25 amount of cores the speed the TDP
34:28 everything is just nuts uh the thickness of the notebook is not expected to be an
34:33 issue as Skylake has a very good power performance envelope and has increased
34:38 power from overclocking uh is minimal compared to previous generation gpus uh
34:43 CPUs sorry that's true but if you're
34:46 going with the uh heavy overclocking and
34:50 very high-end Hardware thing yes so far we're just talking about the CPU I'm
34:54 interested in the GPU yeah and heavy amounts of overclocking I'm going to
34:58 want if that's what I'm buying this laptop for I'm probably going to want a
35:02 fairly excessive amount of cooling um so
35:05 if they're like they seem like very conflicting absolutely it's going to
35:10 have the most badass Hardware it's going to be super fast you're going to be able
35:13 to overol the crap out of it and it's going to be thin like that's that's
35:16 awesome if you can get all those things to be true but yeah yeah seems like
35:20 they're claiming quite a bit they don't have a long time to actually come out with it because if they're saying end of
35:24 2015 you know September's going to fly by those people you know summer's over
35:28 school starting September always disappears at least for me it does and
35:31 then you know we're into October already the end of the year is going to be here so this this is around the corner as far
35:35 as I'm concerned yeah um so they're going to have to have this stuff figured out personally I'm kind of hedging on
35:40 the fact that they might be claiming too much but hopefully not hopefully not
35:44 this was the first year I actually took a laptop to byoc I had my own monitor
35:49 but uh being able to have if you're able to have a gaming laptop that you can
35:53 bring around for lands and things like that it's it's really nice it's pretty
35:57 nice slides into your backpack Mana had an easy time this year one of the cool
36:00 things about that too is you don't have to worry about people stealing your stuff because you just drop it into your
36:04 laptop and take off at the end which is nice um they did kind of save their
36:08 butts a little bit and say or early 2016 yeah so if they don't make it by that
36:12 late 2015 line they they can still kind of pour over which is nice you would
36:16 assume they would try to hit it for Christmas but uh I'm wondering if they're just going you know we might not
36:21 make it kind of deal yeah yeah I think that's the goal though you're probably
36:24 right uh more laptop talk ASUS refreshes Rog laptops with
36:29 g752 I used a g751 at that land so
36:33 here's the two yeah um and liquid cooled
36:36 gx700 Series yeah this is interesting
36:40 yes so I'm going to try to get the topic up on here the gx700 being teased as
36:45 well um that's the liquid cooled one let
36:48 me see if I can get the topic up here sorry one second so this is from Anan
36:52 I'm going to post this in the chat um my laptop is not super happy
36:58 about things right now very interesting attachment that they're going to have
37:01 for this I don't fully understand how it works yet I'm not sure if they've released enough information to fully
37:05 understand how it works right but it does look like I could be wrong on this
37:09 but it appears like there's a closed loop water cooling system built in but
37:12 then you can attach this huge unit that just kind of chunks into the back of it
37:16 which would essentially extend that water cooling um because if it is a
37:20 water cooling attachment without that how does it cool unless there is already an established closed loop it could be
37:25 like okay disclosure I was busy filming
37:28 a super funny stuff before the show but what this could be is very similar to
37:33 the like uh what was that card ASUS I
37:37 don't remember the name Poseidon uh I'm having trouble with the
37:40 name right now twitch chat will correct me but the the ASUS Poseidon where it's
37:45 an aircooled graphics card that looks like
37:49 it yeah it's an aircooled graphics card but it has fittings and this could be
37:53 just basically quick disconnect fittings on this guy so it's air cooled and then
37:57 you can click in and turn it into a water cooled system that could be what
38:00 it is again full disclosure I haven't uh
38:03 I haven't read it that could be yeah it it's basically got to be either or
38:07 because uh it's got now I don't know a lot about this besid in card how well
38:11 does it work I always I'm always scared when a tool says you know I can do two
38:16 things these are the two things that I do because generally a tool that will do one of those things does it better than
38:22 uh the tool that can do two things so I'm not 100% sure but it it's a really
38:25 interesting idea we're talking about overclocking lands and all that kind of stuff usually what I find like with the
38:31 Poseidon I actually not that long ago did a review of a Zotac twoin one
38:35 cooling style card um I I think that
38:38 might actually be in the background here one of them yeah the the the Arctic
38:43 something you can see it I I'll show with my mouse uh this one wait no that's
38:49 not what you're seeing this one right there that has two little water cooling
38:53 uh fittings right there uh usually what I find is that the air cooling is okay
38:59 right even if it has like pretty like that one had pretty Beast air cooling built into it but because of like the
39:04 water block and stuff and needing to transfer through it usually ends up
39:07 being okay instead of great as it's
39:10 actually made to be but then you have water cooling options and then that water cooling option is usually sick so
39:14 with this laptop you could go to your work do whatever you need to do and
39:20 it'll probably be fine cuz you won't maybe push it as hard and then you could
39:24 dock it at home into water cooling game and that's actually a pretty cool use
39:28 case I think that makes sense and just the fact that it's quick connects uh can
39:31 be really good for people who don't want to spend if you've ever completely water
39:36 cooled your computer it takes time and effort and a bit of Maintenance you know
39:39 that could be a really simple idea for someone who wants to just get in get out and not spend a whole lot of time with
39:43 it yeah um so again just more options I
39:46 think you know the laptop The Notebook Market is just getting bigger and bigger
39:50 um just with how much more powerful uh they're able to build them it's really
39:54 cool I was kind of anti-top for a while there to be completely honest just
39:57 desktops all the way and I still kind of am but they're really shortening that
40:00 Gap I'm still like to be fair I'm
40:04 talking about cool cool gaming laptops gaming laptops are interesting I
40:09 still like the idea of a beast desktop
40:13 at home and then a like more businessyoutube
40:25 very kind of weird sometimes but yeah yeah got it my bad that makes sense
40:31 sorry for banging on the desk everyone um so yeah it's interesting but gaming
40:36 laptops seem to be getting better lately so my my opinion might change eventually
40:39 we'll see I'm not rigid on that next up Moto 360 2015 Edition um there was a
40:46 Hands-On from I believe giz Moto so let
40:50 me see if I can open this up Android pit
40:54 so I'm going to post that in the twitch chat as well give me one quick second I
40:58 closed it it's personally my and I'm not a big Smartwatch guy um it's personally
41:03 my favorite looking Smartwatch cool I love the fact that it's round yeah right
41:07 that's not a new you know that was on their on their last watch but the fact that it's round it looks like a watch
41:12 because to me a watch is still a style point like I understand they're building
41:17 in all this technology you can look at your text message you can okay Google
41:20 there's different things that you can do uh with the Apple watch as well but to
41:24 me it's still a style piece mhm um and it's really it has to contribute to your
41:29 outfit to your look it's got to look right in the mirror um or it's not going
41:32 to work that's just my personal opinion I think the 360 does a does the best job
41:36 of it currently yeah so the basic model
41:39 starts at $300 so like $8,000 Canadian dollars and
41:45 yeah yeah and the the more expensive version which I don't know a ton about
41:48 at this moment is $450 so about $166,000 Canadian dollars
41:54 uh I'm kidding by the way the Canadian dollar just sucks right now so bad it's
41:57 it's pretty rough um it comes in two sizes 46 mm and 42 mm um the idea is
42:04 that motorol can Market the two different sizes to men or women women
42:09 not women they can Market it to wom uh well I think they actually have two
42:13 sizes for males like the small and the large and then they have a female
42:17 version which is the small with a different band ah cool so that's kind of
42:21 it sure um um although the bands I believe are interchangeable yeah
42:25 interchangeable um where was yeah right there you can see theable band oh yes just right there
42:32 that's the little mechanism that no one can see me pointing at but uh here I'll
42:36 use the mouse wait wrong Mouse right here yeah it's right there there you go
42:41 um the display so it has a uh like like
42:44 it said earlier the display comes in two different sizes 1.37 in and 1.56 in
42:49 they're both LCDs they have resolutions of 360x 325 and 360x 3 30 so not a huge
42:57 difference in the resolution actually um they move the hardware button from the
43:01 3:00 position to the 2:00 I like that oh it's way better it's also uh I was
43:05 reading that there was issues with people bending their wrist and it getting poked into there that's that's a
43:10 big problem most people wear their watches on their left hand you're going to have that but button on the right
43:14 hand side it's it's going to be an issue so it's it's smart that they move that
43:18 yes I do want to go to dinner tonight Alice Yang I'm hungry that would work
43:23 for me I'm a little hungry let me know which restaurant I'll third wheel like crazy that works cuz it's not a
43:30 date um I let's see here in terms of
43:33 actual text specs it has Snapdragon 400
43:38 processor running a frequency of 1.2 GHz 4 gigabytes of internal storage and 512
43:43 megabytes of RAM which is something I haven't said for a while because that's
43:46 in a very low very low amount of RAM uh we even like stopped iterating in that
43:51 amount now it's like per gig instead of per half gig but anyways um good old
43:56 days the 400 Mila battery um obviously that's a small amount but you know you
44:00 got to look at the draw not necessarily the capacity um but again that's the
44:04 scary thing with SmartWatches is the fact that uh they don't last a long time
44:07 I think I would want to jump to the 46 mm even just for the battery because the
44:11 the 42mm watch has a 300 mAh battery and
44:15 then the 46 mm watch has a 400 mAh battery large increase probably worth it
44:19 alone then the like slightly higher PPI
44:23 uh which is pretty actually lower PPI um but slightly higher resolution so the
44:27 PPI of the smaller one the 42 mm is 354
44:31 and that's at a resolution of 360x 325 and the PPI of the slightly larger one
44:36 the 46 mm one is 313 so it's lower but
44:40 it has a slightly higher resolution of 360 x 330 it's just a bigger screen yeah
44:45 um Android Wear as you all probably figured out automatically it has four
44:50 cores running at that uh 1.2 GHz and Bluetooth 4.0 so I'm sure Linus is is
44:56 going to end up reviewing this at some point so yeah that'd be awesome probably
44:59 stay tuned they get their hands on one of those um let me see here we could
45:04 jump into the Samsung launches the uh oh you got something on
45:08 mine don't you I do it's going to take me a second we have sponsor spots
45:12 sponsor spots hooray yay so we're going to jump into
45:17 linda.com linda.com is awesome you get get a 10day free trial at linda.com wow
45:22 millions of people around the world use it they have more than 3,000 thousand
45:26 courses available it's actually kind of insane if you go on their website there's like all the things uh they have
45:31 topics like web development photography visual design business um I know a few
45:36 people that have actually used multiple ones that I just said I know someone
45:39 who's looked up their business stuff I know someone who's looked up their photography and visual design stuff and
45:44 I know someone who started to learn uh photo editing through there ah exactly
45:48 they also have software like Excel WordPress and Photoshop yes they do like
45:53 I just mentioned uh whether you want to set new financial goals become a better
45:57 person in your respective field uh learn a new skill try something new any of
46:02 that kind of stuff check out linda.com wow plan started only 25 bucks
46:07 a month and you get a 10-day free trial with that link so head over to linda.com
46:11 wow claim your 10day free trial and start learning today I actually got a
46:14 buddy on to linda.com uh he just took a different job yeah government jobs so we
46:19 started doing uh recycling we'll keep this try to be somewhat non specific but
46:24 he's got a few hours at the end of the day which he was sure how to fill and he was saying you know how could I make
46:27 money trying to think of ideas and I was saying maybe instead of directly looking to make a financial you know gain in
46:33 those few hours at the end of the day check out linda.com maybe do a course or something like that he's actually signed
46:37 up and doing it so uh that's awesome it's pretty cool you can fit it in there
46:40 on your own time and well if what he learns needs a website squarespace.com
46:47 CA combo go to squarespace.com use our offer code Linus to save 10% and you can
46:52 make a beautiful website using one of their many templates it requires uh
46:57 basically no skill level although if you do have a skill level at designing
47:01 websites you can get down into some of the code and change how things look but
47:04 you don't really need to they have a whole bunch of different templates you just kind of drop in text and images and
47:09 then it just looks very nice and professional and can take a wave of wow
47:14 people which is actually pretty intense we've used that multiple times um let me
47:18 see here one quick second there was a provider who uh wasn't able to I clicked
47:24 the wrong what is happening do you see that the minimize and new tab button are
47:28 covering each other so if I just do contrl T it'll work anyways keyboard
47:33 shortcuts been working since 3.1 what
47:36 well actually maybe not that shortcut specifically but give me a
47:42 second so if you guys go to cags online.com k a ibags online.com you can
47:50 see my mom's website she made that it's on Squarespace and it's awesome and she
47:56 made the whole thing I helped her with like one random very small thing she
48:00 made all the rest and she doesn't exactly have like education in creating
48:04 websites no so there you go trusted by millions of people who uh sorry one
48:09 second trusted by millions of people and some of the most respected Brands around the world starts at just eight bucks a
48:14 month and you get a free domain if you sign up for a year I know it's a solid
48:18 deal a certain employee at lus Media Group had his fiance start a website
48:24 based on their wedding on Squarespace and I believe they got the domain for
48:28 free through that I'm not entirely sure nice but uh that that's all I'm uh going
48:32 to say so that's it for now private matters anyways uh Squarespace build it
48:36 beautiful again go to that link squarespace.com and use offer code Linus
48:40 to save 10% yay back to topics let's do some
48:47 Rapid Fire for a sec unless there was something you wanted to do there is but
48:51 we can do it after rapid fire all right mini news Google new logo how how much
48:55 has this tripped you out I I was wondering what you're going to say about
48:59 it because I don't really like it it doesn't really matter no no well like I
49:04 don't really like it but I also say that with not really caring
49:08 because why I don't you know what I mean I'm not a huge fan but again I don't I
49:13 don't care about any of it especially the large logo what I do care about is
49:18 the uh why can't I think of the name of it right now but the the small little
49:22 icon that goes on your tabs oh yeah
49:26 because it's just tripping me out cuz I'm not used to it now so I'm like
49:29 where's that Tab and I can't find it because the little icon is different
49:32 favicon I'm probably I might be pronouncing that incorrectly but the favicon image is just driving me nuts
49:37 other than that I don't care at all I use Google Maps constantly on my
49:42 phone at work and they changed a bunch of the icons so I get the same feeling
49:45 right yeah like you don't look right what is that looking for the thing that
49:49 I know so what you're seeing here is uh I believe a gift yeah of that that
49:54 little thing right there is what usually gets placed as the favicon and they just
49:57 kind of show the other things that the logo could be used as because it's morphing into their other logos it's a
50:02 cute little animation I like it yeah it works it works so yeah they changed the
50:07 logo they were recently acquired by themselves under a company called
50:11 alphabet things are changing none of it in my opinion is really all that
50:16 important they also mentioned that it might look better on smaller screens
50:20 since everything's trying to go multiplatform and because smaller screens and are becoming absolutely the
50:24 norm um so there's a hint that that might be kind of the the reason why
50:28 interesting yeah some of it was also because it uh more closely resembles the
50:31 logo of alphabet which is that parent company I just mentioned it's supposed
50:35 to look more modern and playful um I
50:38 don't know anyone who does kind of the playful look as well as Google does I
50:42 thought they were very modern and playful before already yeah but uh I
50:46 don't know what else what else can you say about a a small font change not not
50:49 much we'll get through this if you don't like it it'll be okay yeah I don't know
50:54 it's it's just it's it's really it's really not that big of a deal I saw a
50:59 few people very small amount of people freaking out but I think most people
51:02 kind of generally agree with us let's see what the twitch chat says let's do a
51:05 straw poll actually so give me a second to make this straw pole oh my screen
51:10 again this is I'm borrowing uh John our
51:14 our resident American's uh laptop for this so you can
51:18 see I'm going to move uh us out of that
51:21 corner you can see just how awesome this
51:25 desk to is I don't know if he made this or if he found this but either way it's
51:31 just great so I'm going to start a straw pull um while you guys hopefully talk
51:36 about that amazing background it's pretty epic P the Double Down The Double
51:42 Down is awesome I think John's laughing back there
51:48 now give me one second sorry guys so
51:51 type your question here what was it again um what do you
51:55 think you think of the new I'll just
52:00 show you guys what I'm doing Google logo
52:04 oh my God I hate it so much I spelled
52:09 much incorrectly but it kind of goes with how it works a wild Nick has
52:13 appeared hi Nick hi what's wrong Nick um
52:17 that topic that I was talking about
52:21 before okay I saw your giant full caps
52:24 note on that we're good thanks
52:29 bro oh okay I don't even know okay we'll
52:33 see uh turnip I'm not going to learn
52:36 what it's about right now yeah do that while I do this um oh my God I hate it
52:41 so much I don't care turnip I don't
52:44 really care much but it's
52:49 confusing sometimes cool do you have like an I like it
52:54 option
52:58 there we go okay cool just no positive answer um
53:03 we will do permissive and then that's it
53:06 so create poll give me a quick second my
53:09 prediction is turnup yeah you think turnup is going to
53:13 straight up win well it's pretty awesome when turnup straight up wins I have to
53:17 say I have occasionally voted for turnup every time but I've occasionally done
53:22 this literally all the time forever I
53:25 like it wow there's a lot of I like oh turnup turn oh jeez turn Up's kind of
53:30 running away with it all of a sudden I'm hoping I like it wins actually I kind of
53:34 want turnup to win because it makes lonus a little mad yeah so I kind of
53:38 vote for turnup that's always that's always entertaining sorry um I'm I'm
53:41 actually part of team number three I guess at this point uh which is I don't
53:46 really care but it's confusing sometimes yes my honest answer would be I don't I
53:50 don't dislike it so I would be down with saying that I like it it looks nice I
53:55 don't really care I just yeah I'm a part of number three I don't fully understand
54:00 the oh my God I hate it so much crowd but if someone's like resistant to
54:04 change and they use Google a lot I guess I get it it is the smallest it is it is
54:08 heavily losing at this point it is turnup is just wrecking just destroying
54:14 turn up 16% above the closest uh other
54:18 vote so that's that's pretty cool so our first real answer is I like it so that's
54:22 kind of cool I like it's winning um do you want to keep read that thing yes so
54:26 I'm going to actually jump down and do a rapid fire topic by myself and then hopefully you can help fill us in on
54:32 whatever that is that you're actually reading so the ASUS Matrix gtx980ti
54:37 Platinum is being shown off um I'll try
54:41 to get to the actual thread but the actual thread wasn't really linked so
54:45 it's going to take me a quick second it looks freaking sick I can tell you that
54:49 much but you might have a little bit of trouble having it match your motherboard
54:53 unless you have the exact motherboard that goes with it which if you're
54:56 spending that much money on it it's probably not that unlikely so it's
55:01 probably okay hopefully this press release actually has pictures this press
55:05 release does not have pictures I don't think so we're actually just going to
55:08 show off the line of tech tips topic which I will link you guys in a moment
55:12 here I say this every time I'm on the show but your forum is awesome uh when I
55:16 was looking through the documentation or the doc I should say before the show
55:20 there's a link to a lineus tech tips Forum post for every single topic we're
55:24 talking about you guys are awesome you contribute very well the tech news and reviews is like
55:31 one of the most insane Forum sections I've seen on any Forum ever they're so
55:35 on top of things because people are so aggressive about wanting to be the first
55:38 one and and people are so good at formatting it's a beautiful look yeah
55:42 it's like you make your form on Squarespace we're oh wow we don't whoa
55:46 but yeah but you um we're working on that actually for the next version of
55:50 The Forum which is in development right now uh Envision powerboard the or
55:54 envision power whatever is the software that we
55:59 use and they released their new version but we're going to be heavily modifying
56:03 it adding in a really cool new text editor thing that we're doing tons of
56:06 work on and a whole bunch of other stuff so it should be actually a really big
56:10 upgrade we're going to be ramping up classified so classified should be a lot
56:13 cooler there's going to be way more functionality we're going to be implementing a lot of that stuff that's
56:17 been in the thread forever that people are like can we do this and we're like
56:22 maybe in the next version so we've been working on a lot of that stuff hopefully
56:25 you guys like it but that's months out I probably shouldn't have even have teased
56:29 it so I'm just excited whatever anyways
56:33 well I know you put an absolute ton of work into the first version of The Forum
56:36 I remember going over to your place and you look like an absolute zombie and
56:40 there was a ton of work and I think that's when Mr Wizard was uh was helping
56:44 out as well and this time we've got a pretty big crew we've got cat on the
56:48 Forum is helping uh Colonel mortise is helping a lot Mr Wizard is helping again
56:54 I'm doing some stuff probably not as much as I should be um but yeah there's
56:58 a there's a big crew helping and then once we start testing it I'm going to be
57:01 using all the mods and probably a bunch of Linus Media Group employees to like test out the website find all the bugs
57:06 that we can try to fix what we can and then we'll go from there but anyways
57:10 jumping back to it um the 980 TI
57:14 platinum card you can see why I might have said it might be a little bit rough
57:18 to match with certain systems but then again if I scroll down you can see the
57:21 motherboard that goes with it and that thing it looks it very well it looks
57:26 sick so if you want to get both that'll look super badass and if you don't it
57:30 might be a little bit rough matching things but you'll be okay it'll be fine
57:35 could do a lus Media Group build with those parts oh my
57:38 God the Orange is slightly wrong I think but that's all a lot of that's glowing
57:43 area o maybe they'll talk to them it looks
57:47 pretty cool it looks pretty cool I like it figure it out I like it doing a l
57:50 Media Group builds like black and orange in general I don't even think we've done
57:54 that and that's a pretty good idea I don't think there's a whole lot of options unless you were customizing no
57:58 we'd probably have to yeah but that's fine once this Workshop makes more
58:01 original which is right here and you guys can't see it is done uh we might be
58:05 able to do you mean that beautifully organized area of perfection he lies deceit and lies
58:12 anyways jumping to the topic that I don't even know what it is we're going
58:15 to have to work through this together um because I've been reading it and it is a
58:18 whole lot of information um but it does look pretty interesting ashes of
58:23 Singularity demo was showing better performance in dx12 on AMD cards than
58:27 NVIDIA cards yes okay I haven't read about this enough but I've read about it
58:33 a little bit so this is a massive topic uh Nick has been working on the notes
58:37 for it like up there during the show I
58:41 read something about it like right before the show started I wish I knew
58:45 more about it um there's actually a really good Thread about it on
58:49 overclock.net technically they're a competitor to our Forum but I really
58:54 like those guys and I've got buddies that have been in the computer thing for a long time they're like man I really
58:59 want to join Li techit but I have like friends on overclock.net that I talk to
59:03 for like all the time for years and stuff I'm like you know what that's cool
59:07 just chill out there it's cool so we're not we're not enemies we're cool over
59:11 cl. cool so yes Ash has a
59:14 singularity um the oxide developer KAC
59:18 had a very lengthy response on the overclock.net Forum so that's what I
59:22 linked I believe yes that should bring you right to the right post so that's
59:26 actually from the developer he only has four posts but uh after seeing this post
59:32 it looks like he made them count I'll show you yeah definitely so yeah he he
59:36 went ham not technically wall of texts
59:40 because he pressed enter sometimes but it's it's a it's a lot of text um so
59:46 basically I think what happened was that
59:49 AMD cards did perform better on dx12 um yeah as Singularity demo was
59:54 showing better performance in dx12 on AMD cards and NVIDIA cards um if ashes
59:59 is biased then any unreal 4 game must be NVIDIA biased as well yeah interesting
60:05 using the nitrous engine yeah uh NVIDIA dx11 performance has
60:10 increased over the past few months dx12 overhead is still better for NVIDIA than
60:15 it was on dx11 and has not been fully
60:18 tweaked yet this is actually pretty nuts
60:21 people are are up in arms about this I
60:24 got a few messages right before the show but wasn't entirely sure what it was
60:27 about sorry that we're not fully up to dat on this topic it this is like live
60:31 news it literally came in as the show was going literally Nick ran down here
60:35 was like I'm done it's ready and it is
60:38 about a full page on here so good job Nick right now uh this this is a quote
60:44 let let me see if I can even see who it's from uh nope but probably the dude
60:49 that made that post so we're going to go with that right now I estimate about 20%
60:53 of our Graphics pip pip line occurs in compute shaders and we are projecting
60:58 that uh we're projecting this to be more than 50% on the next iteration of our
61:02 engine in fact it is even conceivable to build a rendering pipeline entirely in
61:07 compute shaders for example there are alternative rendering Primitives that's
61:13 exact or to triangles which are actually quite feasible in compute if someone
61:18 gave us a card with only with only compute pipeline I bet we could build an
61:22 engine around it and it would be plenty fast I'm not saying that the graphics
61:27 pipeline will disappear anytime soon or ever but it's by no means certain that
61:31 it is necessary it's quite possible that in 5 years time nitrous is uh rendering
61:36 pipeline is 100% implemented via compute
61:40 shaders interesting stuff for the graphics world yeah
61:47 definitely K said as far as I know Maxwell doesn't support async compute at
61:52 least not natively we disabled it at the request of NVIDIA as it was much slower
61:56 to try and use it than to not whether or not async compute is better or is not as
62:02 subjective but it definitely does buy some performance on AMD's Hardware
62:06 whether it is the right architectural decision for Maxwell or not is relevant
62:10 to its um scheduler hard to
62:15 say because the last little quote here from Rob H from AMD chimed in on the
62:19 matter uh oxide effectively summarized my thoughts on the matter NVIDIA claims
62:23 full support for dx12 but conveniently ignores that Maxwell is utterly
62:27 incapable of Performing asynchronous compute with heavy Reliance on slow
62:32 context switch without heavy Reliance on slow Contex yes without sorry yeah very
62:36 important he's not saying that is fully capable of it but that it will need
62:40 outside assistance uh so definitely a little bit
62:43 of drama going on so this is going to
62:46 be basically an absolute [ __ ] storm yeah
62:51 um I'm sure there's stuff blowing up around this um I'm going turn rip that
62:56 up a little bit um yeah I think I think
62:59 our audio is okay at this point maybe refresh the stream if you're having
63:03 problems although you wouldn't be able to hear that wrecked I'll type that in
63:07 chat
63:10 um yeah but I don't know I hope they figure their stuff out I like
63:16 um I like it when these companies have to kind of scrap for things it's good
63:21 absolutely but a quote that I've been saying a lot lately is um competition is
63:26 good if the competition is good yeah because I was I was talking to someone
63:31 about VR and they were bringing up a whole bunch of uh kind of auxiliary VR
63:36 companies because right now if you're looking at VR in terms of Hardware if
63:40 you're not looking at Oculus or valve they're more auxiliary companies outside
63:45 of that and some of them are very interesting and might kind of plant
63:51 their feet and be able to hold there some of them I think are just going to
63:54 fall away and one of my points was that I hope the ones that are going to fall
63:58 away because they suck Fall Away very quickly because competition is good like
64:03 I just said if the competition is good if your competition is terrible and
64:06 there's a whole bunch of it it's just going to muddy the space and someone's
64:11 going to try out one of those things and go like oh this is terrible therefore
64:14 this whole Space is terrible just brand yeah yeah so you kind of want things to
64:18 work and if if this is all true everything we just talked about and
64:22 they're claiming full support and doesn't have full support you need to
64:26 fix that yep absolutely because I want it to come down to this card has these
64:31 features and is this fast and therefore
64:35 I want it over this one and vice versa
64:38 instead of like this card says that it can do this thing and can't and
64:42 therefore I don't know what I want but I guess that one because it can do all the
64:46 things you have a somewhat related video which I watched today about graphics
64:50 cards saying what they're hitting what they're actually hitting oh the the GPU
64:53 boost in instigation um yeah that's
64:57 interesting that's that's not as bad I don't think because it's it ends up
65:01 actually running faster it's just weird and confusing it just it reminded me of
65:05 that video when you were mentioning that that's yeah yeah yeah yeah so check that
65:08 video out if you want basically when you buy a current NVIDIA graphics card it
65:14 will they'll have an advertised boost clock speed which is not what it will
65:18 boost to at all I've never seen it actually boost to that number on any
65:22 graphics card that I've tested in the current gen so yeah and the cars that we
65:27 were testing were like hitting thermal limits and stuff automatically so if I
65:31 had ones that weren't doing that automatically we'd probably even see more variants but anyways very
65:36 interesting I'm excited to see how this develops I'm sure this is not the last
65:40 we've heard about this um someone is going to want to step up and probably
65:45 angrily and we'll we'll learn more things
65:49 um yeah that's pretty much all I have to say about that is stay tuned and we'll
65:54 find out if that's true that sucks
65:57 hopefully they fix it if it's not true well then what the hell's going on I
66:01 don't know we will see um scrolling down a bunch give me a
66:06 second there's the um trying to find out
66:10 right now the new Google Car app oh what
66:14 Samsung launches car mode for Galaxy app yes I know nothing about this go for
66:18 gold I'll get this posted in the twitch chat there we go okay so um Samsung is
66:23 off off a car modee on its phones but it's being refined Leading The Way with
66:28 car mode is uh that it offers a standalone mode for those situations
66:31 where cars aren't compatible which in uh most case since only newer cars offer
66:36 offer it um it's it's able to be compatible for older cars now as as
66:41 you're looking that up I want to segue a little bit I think we're in a really
66:44 interesting place in the car market I'm a car Enthusiast myself a lot of people
66:47 at lgr um not including Tesla because
66:51 they're doing things right I think basically everyone else um and a lot of
66:55 the and you could say American car manufacturers but it's not true even the Imports um as well Imports you know the
67:01 Toyotas um Volkswagens of the world everyone's somewhat at a starting line I
67:06 feel like they've all been making cars for a very long time they've all done a
67:09 decent job at their own kind of Niche markets whatever they're uh trying to
67:13 hit with their different cars or trucks or whatever it may be but now vehicles
67:17 are becoming a tech item and I feel like a lot of the manufacturers have been
67:21 around forever they're all at the same starting line and this is something that's going to slightly differentiate
67:26 each other cuz I know it's uh it's Honda Toyota and Volkswagen I'm not surprised
67:30 at all that it's those three brands that are moving forward with this um there is
67:35 no car I think yours does a decent job but I don't think there's any car
67:39 besides the Tesla right now that has a great screen
67:42 touchscreen uh experience for the user I
67:45 think they're all kind of okay and we're
67:48 spending so much money on them um we're spending so much money on
67:53 them and they're just they're just lackluster they're just not what they
67:57 need to be hopefully this is a step in the right direction because I feel like
68:00 any car company that's really going to hit it out of the gate is going to do
68:03 extremely well because everyone else does a terrible job I'm a Ford fan their
68:07 My Touch terrible hate it got nothing good to say about it you know what I
68:11 mean like yours is pretty good but I feel like there's and yours is a 2009
68:15 let's add that in there as well you know what I mean in my the thing that bothers
68:18 me about mine being a 2009 is I'll sit in uh newer cars like I I was in a very
68:25 new truck yesterday driving a very new truck that another dude owns that I know
68:30 because I had to move a chair long story um and it's a very nice truck and the
68:35 dash the screen on the dash excessively similar to mine in terms of resolution
68:40 how it works all that kind of stuff like uh a Dodge Dodge see I even like the
68:45 Dodge ones I even think the Dodge ones do a pretty good job but they could be
68:49 so much better that's the thing like you look at tablets you look at computers
68:52 you look at laptops you you look at phones you look at all these different markets and they're moving so fast and
68:57 then Vehicles is just like well turn the
69:01 dial do the thing I don't know I've got
69:04 the I did the Nexus 7 install in my Dash which was kind of a pain but it looks
69:09 fantastic it's a 2-year-old tablet and the PPI is uncomparable to anything else
69:13 that's out there right now as far as buying your vehicle but what I'm trying
69:17 to say by it this is it's a really interesting article check it out I think Luke linked it no someone sorry someone
69:22 misunderstood what I was saying I'm not complaining about driving the Acura I'm
69:26 saying it's weird that my cars from 2009
69:29 were now going into fairly soon 2016 and
69:33 I'm not seeing huge differences it's awesome that my car has that that's
69:37 great I love that I'm not complaining about that at all what's crazy is that
69:42 if go look at a phone from 2009 and compared to it a phone that's going to
69:46 be coming out now and yes no not at all
69:50 completely different absolutely what sup Dennis
69:54 hi come say hi to the stream come on no get in front of the
69:59 camera dance is ready to go home I think you're leaving oh yeah it's after work
70:03 now say hi hello no not I just this is the
70:09 actual show I just wanted Dennis to say
70:14 hi you reading the chat Dennis Dennis hi
70:17 Dennis hype yeah Dennis hype they're happy to see
70:21 you bye okay by by Dennis so one of the
70:25 big things with this is that you can uh plug in your phone or it can connect
70:29 wirelessly um and then your apps and your phone will basically appear on the
70:32 screen so that is a step forward um they're kind of skirting around having
70:36 to do anything themselves I feel like they're kind of like oh we'll just kind
70:40 of Port your phone to this screen now because that's nice um but I really feel
70:46 you know I think Tesla's done an extremely good job they're going to be coming out with more models of cars um
70:50 and they'll probably be model three model three and they'll they're going to
70:54 be upgrading their screen I assume um all of you domestic car manufacturers
70:59 and you know I say domestic because you know the Toyotas you buy here are made
71:03 here so are they you know are they imported or they not debate for a different time um somebody please hit it
71:08 somebody do it well you know what I mean because no one's doing it well right now
71:12 I agree this is a decent decent step but I honestly like a big thing that I
71:16 really wanted to do when we started line of Media Group was uh car tech reviews
71:23 yep I don't know if I've talked to you about this before for a you talked about
71:26 uh I guess I shouldn't say maybe it's more in the business a certain manufacturer approached you you looked
71:31 into it and kind of said no thanks cuz there's nothing here uh and that that's
71:35 essentially the story is what I wanted to do was go driving around for a in a
71:39 car for a while and I don't know enough to talk to you guys about the engine and
71:44 like how it works and if it's more efficient than whatever and if like I
71:48 don't know enough about that I know a little bit about cars not enough to make
71:52 videos on that kind of stuff not the technical aspects of the moving
71:56 components like the engine but I might be able to do a proper review of the
72:01 tech that's inside the car mhm but I'd
72:04 make a video every year yeah and it would be like yep not much as changed
72:10 you can have a Wi-Fi hotspot but you could also just do that on your phone
72:14 yeah which I do so why would you buy
72:18 another Sim for your car yeah I don't know like there's there's some actually
72:23 really cool someone just said Mighty Car Mods I believe that's a YouTube channel
72:26 that I've seen and is awesome car mods are fantastic I modded the Nexus 7 into
72:30 my Dash it took me quite a while to get all the bugs out it runs great there's
72:34 some super cool stuff on YouTube in terms of cars but that's exactly why I
72:37 didn't want to do the same thing yeah I wanted to do something slightly
72:40 different cuz these guys are already awesome you're not looking into Mods
72:43 you're looking at what's coming out what's I I can't do that and like
72:47 there's there's certain guys I don't remember what channel it was maybe it was Mighty Car Mods they're from I think
72:51 Australia and they buy like a couple couple of the similar car and they'll
72:55 just like zombie them together like I did with computers back in the day and
72:59 make like a couple throwaway cars basically and make one good drivable car
73:04 out of it for like way cheaper than buying a new one and like I watched one
73:07 episode and it was actually super cool um soone saying chopped maybe that's it
73:14 um I don't know but honestly it was awesome I like I like watching car
73:18 videos anyways we'll we'll move on to uh more stuff but I don't know guys pick it
73:24 up move forward the tech and the Tesla is sick you guys can do
73:29 that like I love Tesla but it's not that hard no it's not that hard it's really
73:34 you could copy that or do even better honestly without that's what's so
73:38 frustrating about it you know and especially um you know I'll go after it
73:42 again because I've got an older F-150 the brand new F-150 came out the 2015
73:46 model they advertised all these different things I got caught up a little bit in the hype not like I was
73:50 going to buy one I was like oh man this is going to be so cool and I I was
73:53 really excited cuz they weren't saying anything about that center console
73:56 nobody's doing it right nobody's doing it right except for the Tesla get on the
74:00 level they are now Tech pieces you know you know your big advertising feature
74:04 that your truck can be a hot spot is not or your car can be a Hotpot is not
74:07 interesting that's not engaging to me you can go to any phone retailer up here
74:12 you can go to Rogers tell us wind any of them buy a little tiny capsule I saw one
74:15 that looked like a cute egg once you give it power it gives you a 3G network
74:20 this is old this is not new this is not interesting um and especially when
74:23 you're trying to Market to a younger generation that's into Tech into their
74:27 phones you know you've got you know the the Note 5 came out get something that
74:31 is somewhat comparable to that level or the new LG phones anything like that um
74:36 honestly and someone in the chat draw
74:40 joopis joopis joopis I don't know uh he
74:44 said you can't compare a to 209 but 2009 Acura with a modern pickup truck compare
74:49 it to a modern Acura and you'll see differences valid point except that I
74:53 have and there isn't major ones yeah um there's two screens I think but I just
74:58 don't care about the second one because it's honestly just easier to do with
75:01 physical buttons so like I don't know
75:04 man I I I did and there wasn't significant change that I would expect
75:09 from that many years definitely not like your comment about the phones yeah yeah
75:14 it it's it's not even similar at all to
75:17 the uh change that there has been in the phone market so absolutely all right I
75:21 think I beat this one up yeah um a little bit let's move on um
75:27 Microsoft quietly rewrites its activation rules for Windows 10 this is
75:31 from ZDNet I'm going to try to get you guys a link and I'll try to get it up on
75:35 the screen and I'll do all the fun things apparently uh the net result is
75:38 that clean installs will be much easier uh that totally caters to me I'm a clean
75:43 install guy I always have been um I'm still on 8.1 but uh I'm just kind of
75:48 waiting for a little bit then I will be going to the 10 of course and it'll be a
75:51 clean install that's what I want to do I I've never been a big fan of the upgrade
75:54 experience it also kind of forces me to clean my computer up yeah that's that's
75:58 one of the reasons why I kind of like it cuz honestly uh the upgrade experience
76:02 thing I kind of agree I didn't like it before Windows 10's upgrade experience
76:06 is actually really good though good um and like I tried to test out the beta
76:12 and my whole idea was like you know what I'll try it and if it doesn't work I'll
76:15 just reformat and it'll be fine and then I was like oh roll back I can just roll
76:19 back to my Windows 7 install this will break everything but let's try it so I
76:24 rolled it back and it was perfect really which was crazy I never had a single
76:28 problem and then I've upgraded again once Windows 10 came out off that same
76:32 install back up Windows 10 and it was fine again wow which was actually pretty
76:36 impressive um so yeah I don't know kind
76:39 of cool the biggest change um of all is that Windows 10's activation status is
76:44 now stored online which might be terrible for you or good for you
76:48 depending on who you are um after you successfully activate Windows 10 for the
76:51 first time the device will activate automatically in the future no
76:55 product key is required um yeah I don't know unwelcome change
77:01 for those trying to do a clean install of Windows 10 without understanding the new activation landscape is a good point
77:07 but I don't know I think people are going to be on the fence with this maybe let straw pull it again and then move on
77:12 so I'm going to start a new one straw PS are fantastic I really like straw PES we
77:17 could make our own but considering they made this like I I've had someone like
77:22 make a Linus media group pull thing and I was like you know what that's really
77:25 cool but we've been using these guys since forever we're probably like the
77:29 main people that use straw pole I don't know maybe maybe straw pool's way bigger
77:34 than I than I realized but I don't know I just kind I'm sure you give them a lot
77:37 of traffic um why can't I type I think I
77:41 need to make a new one there we
77:45 go um while we're doing that let's we got
77:50 one topic here I don't think we'll talk about too much but uh cable box rentals
77:54 a needless $19 billion industry insane
77:57 uh an average American house household pays $231 per year on average for their
78:02 cable box rental estimated 99% of cable
78:05 uh consumers in the US rented their equipment uh Senators who commissioned a
78:10 study on this Market Ed Markley of Massachusetts and
78:14 Richard blue Menthol I'm sure that's wrong blue Blumenthal apparently st's
78:19 huge so I'm Dum and they're massive well
78:23 you guys are huge so oh maybe pretty cool you know um basically just talking
78:28 about cable boxes um I've never seen anyone else use drop pole but apparently
78:33 like a bunch of people in chat are like it's it's absolutely huge so that's cool
78:38 I still want to use them because they're still awesome
78:41 yeah um square space squar space build
78:45 it beautiful beautiful build um anyways
78:48 let's see how the straw pole is going let's see the results here turnup is
78:53 destroy turn up but generally people are saying that it's good yeah what's up
78:59 Justin uh not anymore yeah you're delayed thanks though I appreciate it
79:04 it's good it's good um yeah so 26% of
79:09 people are saying that it's good 177% of people are saying that it's bad with 57
79:14 my favorite number no longer 57 that makes me sad 56% of people saying that
79:19 it is turnip so that's uh that's interesting I do like I I do like seeing
79:25 the good votes though because I haven't actually done it myself so seeing the good votes is um especially when they're
79:29 warning people about doing you know uh fresh install so I I like seeing the
79:32 good vote that's great thanks guys yeah
79:36 so I think that might conclude the
79:40 show see if there's anything new here um is there anything else you
79:46 wanted to talk about what just happened just about the cable box uh the camera
79:50 was blinking red and so I'm wondering if it no no is out of battery if the camera
79:55 died that's super the end of the show
79:58 so could be a radio show now um yeah the
80:02 camera's dead looks like they didn't plug it into the wall they had extra
80:06 batteries I saw them playing and talking about extra batteries I guess that's the
80:10 end of the WAN Show for anyone wondering yes I will be doing a 24-hour stream
80:14 tomorrow it will be for charity it will be on uh it will be for the extra life
80:19 charity so you can check out links to the extra life charity that I'll be
80:23 running on my Twitter I just tweeted it out a few times I'll tweet it out again
80:26 after the show um check it out tomorrow before noon it will start and then again
80:31 it will go for 24 hours I guess that's it I'll roll this
80:35 because you guys can hopefully see it I'm going to have to do it a few times so it'll start because our stuff kind of
80:43 sucks there we
80:51 go show weekly failure
81:01 and is off
81:06 it thank you I'll see you next
81:09 time it was nice talking to you I hope you
