0:15 more so the first step would be to
0:19 wash your rocks then i guess that's kind of always the first
0:23 step isn't it yup we both have to wash our rocks you cannot continue with this
0:27 without washing the rocks or else someone's going to complain and it's
0:30 just going to be bad yeah yeah here so are we sharing rocks
0:36 well in this situation where there's like two males and one computer i guess
0:40 we'll be sharing rocks so these are the rocks that we're
0:43 talking about of course it's good to rinse them because if you don't then you
0:47 might end up with some gunk in your mineral oil machine
0:52 spread that apart just stick two fingers in each side four
0:56 fingers
1:06 that's really hot water so
1:10 hot water on cold rocks is the way i like it
1:23 okay so now we're going to take the freshly cleaned rocks
1:26 and uh go ahead and put them outside to dry so
1:30 uh
1:34 wow it was it was sunny literally
1:39 an hour ago not even an hour ago like 15 minutes
1:44 yeah it's totally definitely not sunny vancouver
1:48 so we don't want to re-contaminate the rocks so we're just uh
1:51 that would suck washing out these bins well to be honest we are covering the
1:54 bottles with the beans and paper towel yeah but even then i don't want it
1:58 sorry but it's not gonna be that huge
2:03 how hundred percent dry do they need to be mr mineral oil cooled pcs well the
2:08 more water content in your computer the higher chance that there's going to be a problem but the thing is
2:13 already even just now it would probably be fine
2:16 normally you could just leave these out to dry for you know a couple days and it
2:20 would be fine but we're in a bit of a hurry
2:24 what i did um when i did mine was i just used a strainer so they were done drying
2:29 like almost immediately right and there's no real wait time but we don't
2:32 have a strainer at the office because why would we have a strainer at the office
2:36 i never know when you're gonna need your strainer son
2:40 so when i was doing mine um i cleaned all of my components with a mineral oil
2:44 bath it was in a container similar to this but much shorter and my reason for
2:48 that was all of my components were in a air-cooled system before they went into
2:52 a mineral cool system so they're all dusty and gross so one thing like this
2:56 cooler is we're gonna make sure we clean this now i'm not super worried about having it go through a mineral oil bath
3:00 the only reason why i did that for all my components was i was making sure that what they were going through wasn't
3:04 conductive as i was putting them in the system almost immediately afterwards so
3:08 we can clean this with water alcohol whatever as long as we make sure that
3:11 it's clean and dry before it goes in and then everything else is pretty much new isn't
3:16 it everything else is pretty much new but these these little fish things it
3:19 might not be a bad idea to clean them because they've been sitting on a shelf open right um for a really long time but
3:24 like these closed components are probably fine i don't think those would
3:28 be a big deal okay so tanks washed peg is washed these
3:33 i don't know there's so many little pieces and stuff i don't know what goes
3:38 in i know from looking at the picture that the big one will be above the
3:41 mineral oil yes the the backing some of
3:45 it will be submerged definitely the uh the support braces
3:48 these guys so those will definitely be okay well the first thing we need to do though is peel all the paper off these
3:54 and then assemble this bad boy because and then we can wash it after assembly
3:57 right yeah that should be fine okay the motherboard i o plate is actually
4:01 pretty nice got that brushed finished there the inside's nothing special but you
4:05 won't see that so yeah
4:08 kit's looking pretty good so far not sure what's up with
4:11 these there's more acrylic inside a bag inside a bag inside of a bag but
4:18 figure that out later oh dear so i realized looking at all these
4:21 pieces i don't know how they all go together and they went right
4:26 manual we haven't looked at it yet other than the front cover
4:30 so uh assembly instructions ooh
4:34 let's dust your hardware before something something
4:38 eck that none of the not allow the oil in everything okay
4:42 we're gonna have to open this dootang i think but um there we go wow there's a whole like
4:47 list of all the stuff that you get
4:51 including a thermal display oh yeah top out oh this is looking good okay this
4:55 shouldn't be too bad all right i guess we better get started then as there are
4:59 actually some very very important things no rubber so no wires that use rubber
5:05 insulation don't let the oil get above 50 degrees clean everything we did
5:09 manage to figure that out don't power the pump if it's running dry don't
5:12 overfill it don't over tighten screws use wireless devices when possible this
5:16 is really important oil will wick along cables that it comes into contact with
5:19 so that's that's pretty key and choose the correct type of CPU cooler we
5:23 actually haven't checked this but having it aligned vertically will help the oil
5:27 circulate through natural convection also there are evidently some things
5:31 that we will need so uh screwdriver got
5:34 it scissors got it wrench
5:41 got it okay so it starts with the
5:45 rear i o everything is handily color coordinated
5:49 in the instructions it's important not to over tighten the screws into the
5:52 acrylic because it will crack 100 so
5:56 this next step's a little bit funny because there's an unlabeled bag of
6:00 screws and then there's a an unlabeled
6:03 screw in the key everything else has little colored dots so so those do
6:07 correspond to each other so just put all four of these pieces
6:11 into place and then loosely attach them from the other side we're just showing
6:16 you where they go obviously when luke lifts this up
6:20 they're all gonna fall off thank you
6:23 you're welcome that's fantastic so brandon won't let us use our camera
6:28 anymore and insists on shooting everything in 4k so that's why the
6:32 sudden change in in quality for the better and no more of this no
6:37 more of this selfie nonsense so so here we go next step is to attach the
6:42 evidently wire handles wire handles these are some
6:48 are pretty intense wires they got some wire that's some wire right there got
6:52 going on okay so brown screws yep
6:56 i mean what what does this mean to you
7:01 put it into the brown put the yeah put the screws in the brown spot like it
7:04 makes sense
7:22 oh whoa hold on a second these aren't the same i didn't even realize that huh
7:26 okay we did a lot of uh extensive research
7:31 before undertaking this project yeah luke
7:35 luke hasn't built an oil cooled machine in years and has definitely never used
7:39 this kit and i've never done either of those things i haven't built a mineral
7:42 machine in like eight years
8:04 you got that i think so
8:07 assume the position oh i think i got it keep going
8:13 wow that sound oh geez that's how you know it's working
8:21 okay we're good so this is probably where the wrench comes in so this is oh
8:24 hello this is not what they had in mind i don't think but
8:29 our wrench is so big that we can actually clear the entire thing going
8:34 this way
8:43 so we need to clean the tubing that came with it because we left it out for a
8:46 long time and it got kind of gross and the idea was using a rod from one of the
8:51 soft boxes that we gonna use a rod but it's
8:56 but it's the the rod that we decided to
8:59 use was not long enough really are you sure yeah see i stuffed it in all the
9:03 way in color it still doesn't know that it's black right yeah so it's thick
9:08 enough so we're probably not going to have any other options
9:12 so our problem is we don't have a long enough rod we already tried the black one and then there's no other options
9:17 all right we've hit our first that's it that's it yeah so it's a different low
9:21 two different no label ones okay we should roll that so guys you want
9:26 the fine threaded one for your SSD
9:30 not the coarse threaded no label one for your SSD
9:34 this not this okay
9:55 do
10:51 so we're done part one at least we've constructed the case and Linus now has
10:56 mineral oil fever i think he now understands what it's like it's this is
11:00 really cool this kit's really cool uh the hardware we're using is really cool
11:03 we're going balls to the wall x99 1200
11:07 watt power supply gtx 780
11:10 we planned this a little while yeah evga provided us with the graphics card
11:14 before there were certain other graphics cards available but
11:18 yeah anyway uh so guys uh stay tuned for
11:22 parts two and three make sure you're subscribed like the video if you liked it dislike it if you disliked it leave a
11:26 comment letting us know if your feelings are more complicated than this and as always check out the link in
11:31 the video description you can give us a monthly contribution so we can spend it
11:34 all on things like oil we had to pay for our own oil which was actually like
11:38 pretty expensive uh you can buy a cool t-shirt like this one you can change
11:42 your amazon bookmarks one with our affiliate code so whenever you buy computer hardware oil whatever else the
11:46 case may be we got a small kickback and i think that pretty much wraps it up
11:50 thanks for watching and as always don't forget to see you guys next
11:54 time even knew the right one that time
11:58 but nope
12:18 you
